Don’t even bother going to this hospital, with those wait times you could probably find a better one in any other city. Extremely understaffed

Arrived at brantford hospital this morning with my pregnant wife and 2 year old daughter. My wife and daughter have been dealing with a fever for a few hours prior to arriving at hospital. They did absolutely nothing for my daughter or wife after waiting 5 hours. Not even something to help my child deal with the fever. After finding out that my wife was able to make an appointment with our family doctor. The nurse bumped us to the back of the line and told us we are better off leaving because they won't see us now. Absolutely disgusted with everyone in that place.

I went in with a crush/fracture that required stitches. From Triage to treatment staff were amazing, caring and kind. Yes! The wait was long but we must remember ERs are often short staffed, and THE MOST CRITICALLY ILL MUST BE TREATED FIRST! I was well cared for. The nurse that gave me a tetanus shot and inserted a pic line was gentle and amazingly good at her job! The attending physician and Physicians Assistant.amazing and I know she was there for me beyond the end of her shift. Freddy and the team for sedation gave me great care and I felt safe in their hands. With thanks and admiration. Susan

This place is a joke.waiting for hours just for a check up. Literally had a broken ankle because I fell down the stairs and was in excruciating pain on a stretcher.but I had to wait for 9 hours just to be seen. 9 hours.also the nurse was laughing about a patient who was sick, like tf?
Jesus Christ.go somewhere else like Simcoe.somewhere else SOMEWHERE ELSE! This was like 3 years back but I remember it, also I witnessed a girl die of an overdose right next to me, fun.: (sarcastic) also I seen some reviews about them putting people who had miscarriages in the labour room? !? !? God damn that is evil.

This place is the worst hospital I have ever been to. 10 hours wait just for an eye swab. Doctor was great thought. Triage was less then proper.

I brought my 6 year old daughter tonight. Nurse Walker triaged her quickly, taking her vitals, and she was seen by Dr. Bush almost immediately. After chest X-rays, and a diagnosis of pneumonia, she was administered the first dose, and we were discharged with a prescription. All of the staff were incredibly friendly, caring and helpful. Thank you for the 5 star experience tonight BGH:)

Gonna be honest here. It's pretty bad when the daughter of a triage patient (visitor, that is) has to run around and get shot for the triage nurses. Rags, toilet paper, etc. Just sayin. More triage nurses needed.

This place is absolutely horrible it's a toxic environment I had to wait 7 hours in emergency and I would have been about 9 hours if I hadn't of left the people there wasting my time the nurse was going to bring me ice and never came I'll never go here again and I recommend that you go to a different city because this place is terrible.

I gave birth to my son here 3 months ago and I can honestly say it was the best AND worst experience of my life. I am 33 years old and had never been a patient at a hospital before, so the entire experience was terrifying and new to me. From the very beginning of my induction process, to having to have an emergency caesarean section, the doctors and nurses (especially the nurses) really made me feel as comfortable as possible throughout. I honestly can’t say enough about the staff. Not only were they helpful, but they were also so positive, kind, patient and reassuring. I can only imagine how many new parents, just like us, they encounter everyday, yet they made us feel like we were the only ones. Thank you for everything you do!

I recently spent seven weeks recovering from a stroke and heart surgery, including complications from infection in my back and hips.
The staff doctor's, nurses, psw, and cleaners were all so positive and helpful in my recovery. The physiotherapy department got me up and moving. Thank God for everyone of you. I still have a long road ahead, but I am on track to recovery. Thanks to you all and your hard work. Thanks again, Rob Kane.

I fainted at work yesterday and fell into a filing cabinet head first. When I came to, my glasses were all bent, my neck was very sore, and one of my fingers was hurting and bruised. Went to BGH to be checked over, and
Emergency was pretty full, but the staff there, the nurses, the technicians, Doctor Tony,
and anyone else I encountered were all amazing! I just want to say a big Thank You! I know wait times can be a bit, but they thoroughly checked me over and I did get an all clear, which I was so thankful for.

Took over an hr for ambulance to show up, there was 1 rude guy paramedic, the ladies were very nice. To get a doctor to just discharge my son took hrs apon hrs. Go to another hospital if at all possible.

I have to say the doctors were excellent.
As well as the nurses and all of staff.
But the wait times are just horrendous.
The hallways are filled with stretchers.
I feel for the many workers who are obviously overwhelmed.

Went in the other day for an eye related injury. Few patients waiting. I was registered within a timely manner. The intake girls were so super sweet (even to my child I had to bring along). Got sent to see and treat pretty quickly. The staff over there was also really super nice (wish I remembered the one nurses name because he was amazing had the best bed side manner). The Drs that assessed me we’re super awesome and weren’t rude or mean that my child wanted to see what happened and they explained to her what they were doing to my eye. There was even an incident in the waiting room the security staff handle really well. All these comments about having to wait forever and people’s attitude don’t really understand the short staffing issues is nothing they can control the staff here do their best with people coming in thinking their issue is way more important than someone else’s and forget they’re being triaged based on priority and constantly being mistreated by patients. There was one nurse there who seems to always have a poor attitude no matter what but who’s to say she doesn’t love nursing but is frustrated she can’t fix the system either!

Went there with pains in my chest. They took my blood and did and EKG then I sat in the waiting room 4 hrs waiting to see a Dr.until I couldn't sit no more. Got up and left. Wait lists are ridiculous.

I have been to BGH 4 or 5 times
It’s a long wait like everywhere else but I felt that I had great experience with all of the medical professionals

Wow! Hats off to the doctors, nurses and all the staff that work here. They are on their feet all the time, relentlessly working with patience and kindness. God bless the doctors and all the ER staff for their hard work, perseverance, dedication and above all Love. Special shout to doctor Greg Hall, Walker, Jennifer and all those lovely people who passed
my path in ER during my pain. Rachel in maternity is amazing. Thank you for all you do.

The staff has always been nice, when ive spoken to them. Not professional in the way they work tho.
It also seems like more homeless people seek shelter here then the patients looking for doctors.just saying. All in all it's a dump

Today I was absolutely disgusted as I was waiting in the Ambulatory Care Centre on floor M in the D wing of the hospital. There was a woman working at registration D across from the Tim Hortons. I don’t think she realized how far her voice travelled through the speaker as she was talking to people checking in. She was absolutely rude and ignorant. Zero respect for the elderly who could have been hard of hearing. Her tone is completely unacceptable. I was absolutely saddened to see her treat people like this. People with strong accents were also treated poorly. I almost wanted to stand at her window and help these people. Unsure of her name but she was a Caucasian woman wearing a grey sweater with brown hair. This was at around 12: 15 PM. I had been sitting here for about an hour and it wasn’t that busy. No need to be short and she could gain to loose her annoyed demeanour towards people. Especially the elderly. Disgusting. There are people out there who would do a much better job than this woman. Definitely a coaching opportunity for her manger to address.

Absolutely disgusted with how this hospital and it's administrators treat people. My grandmother 98 years old was left in emergency for 3 days and then finally transferred to a room and admitted only to be put on the 6th floor witch is on lock down and known as the COVID floor thus being exposed and put in extreme danger.
Was also refused access to see he and was told security would be called if I tried to see her. Absolutely appalling. I know everyone would like to blame the government but I blame hospital staff and administrators for having a grudge against the government and taking it out of patients and conducting themselves in an unprofessional manner. Shame on all of them.

Also clean up the dam crack heads around the building.

My 5 years old son had his tonsil, andenoids remove plus ear tubes in both ear, dr Lam was fantastic plus dr. Martinek the anaesthetist was compassionate and kind to my son and the day surgery staff was fantastic my son did not want to go home I like to thank nurse Jessica (Jessie) making my son to feel comfortable

I attended BCHCS via ambulance after a horrific fall. The ER was extremely busy but all professionals that I came in contact with were exceptional, especially Dr Duncan & Dr Unger. Way to go for all the staff do each and everyday to keep our community needs met. They endure lots of ridicule daily but I am blessed to have had excellent, compassionate care all around

This hospital is absolutely atrocious. Service is awful, nurses are extremely rude. People are severely ill and nurses have the audacity to be rude to them? That’s disgusting. Waited 6 hours for them to tell me I probably won’t see a doctor for my condition. The nurses in the triage are sitting in their little booth conversing and laughing while people are literally struggling to keep themselves up. This kid was bleeding so badly from his hand and face to the point where he needed stitches and had to wait 4 hours and left because he wasn’t getting serviced. This place doesn’t deserve to even be called a hospital. Kids with broken bones are crying in agony and they have to sit there for hours and leave because of the lack of service. Never going there again.

Never ever think to go there.worse staff don't care about baby don't care about mother unable to give epidural after 16 times of trying.if you love your life don't ever go to this hospital

First time at this hospital, left knee surgery everyone very professional & nice from Doctor Rhee, operation team, nurses (nights&days) thank you very much.

I had two procedures carried out recently at the Brantford Hospital. Every single member of the staff I encountered were far beyond my expectations with regard to the care and attention I was given during my day stay at the hospital. The staff were simply amazing.

This is the second time in 2 weeks I had to go to emerge.
From start to finish I could not have been treated better. Emerge, triage, to the see and treat area nurses doctors, technicians the women who rolled me down for the X-rays and brought me back. Lastnight was truly the best care and compassion ever! Thank you to all that I came in contact with. Everyone of you treated me and my daughter so well that although I didn’t want to be there I was blown away by everyone. Thank you for easing the worry and pain I was experiencing!
You all have gone above and beyond to make sure all patients are given the respect compassion care and treatment that each person needs!

Visited the hospital to have a mammogram done. Must say I was very impressed by the lovely volunteer who welcomed me to the department. The young lady who performed the mammogram was both corteous and professional. The whole experience was positive and painless.

I recently had a visit at brantford general for three days I was poked and swobbed and bored out of my mind but the nurses were amazing friendly helpful and so gental they listen to my stories so ladies and made a very bad experience not so bad and well pleasant thank you for all ur help.

I brought my wife here because her Hemoglobin was extremely low, so her doctor advisered her to head to the hospital for blood.nurses and staff wer OK.problem I have is.what hospital has "1" doctor working the E. R. AT NIGHT? How is that possible? Got here at 1130pm still waiting for a doctor @5: 30 am! WTH is that even possible

Blew my back out badly went to ER just to sit there for 6 hours in chair in pain making my back worse, they filled out same form 3 times describing my pain, took a pee sample just to tell me there no blood in it so it “might or might not” be a kidney stone “not 100% though” gave me an ibuprofen and sent me home, later that night I fell asleep rolled over and something popped in my back never been in so much pain, now I can’t even stand up or barely move, my family is bringing me to different hospital today, worst F’n hospital no help at all

I just had a lovely interaction with a booking clerk at MRI who had called me to clarify something. Very respectful, clearly was busy but tried hard to resolve my issue despite people clearly waiting to speak to her. She handle this exceptionally well.

I was in bgh for 2 1/2 weeks. Emergency was extremely busy and staying in the hallway overnight not the best experience. Katie in Emergency had the best iv skills I've ever seen.
Spent most of my stay on B5. I had some of the nicest nurses you could ask for considering they're short staffed alot. I appreciate all the nurses and have the highest respect for all they do cause it can't be easy. Thank you for all you did for me

I was impressed today with the care I received at BGH. The staff I encountered with my Emerg visit were so friendly and helpful. I received excellent treatment and quickly. Thank you:)

Asthmatic lost my inhaler
These "health care" providers have me waiting 12+ hours for a simple ventalin script.
Totally ignorant staff more concerned about getting timmies and making plans for the weekend then doing their jobs.

Emergency room incredibly slow. Been sitting here for 9 hours now without seeing a dr for my ill mother in law. They just keep telling you it won’t be long and keep you waiting.

My very sincere thanks to the two, paramedics & there care in taking my wife to the hospital, who had fallen in awkward way & could not move without severe pain.arriving at hospital, Again nothing but professional all through the system. Thank You Brantford Health system

Thank your to the imaging and support staff for being so friendly, kind, and considerate during my after hours MRI appointment. You made it as quick as possible and were gentle with my knee. A little more in building help/signage to know where the parking payment machine in relation to the exit would have been great.

Getting better, it's just the odd few you know, it seems as if your interrupting their beauty sleep or them watching a good movie or something, maybe I just attract all kinds. See for yourself, that's all I can say.

The hospital and our health care system is an embarrassment. 1 doctor for the emergency room. 10 hours wait time increasing chances of contracting everything else.

My recent experience in Emergency Care followed by Hospital admittance exceeded my expectations. My medical needs were rapidly assessed and my in hospital medical care was tremendous. I feel very fortunate to have had such great medical care. Special thanks to Dr. Jill and the ER team, Pam and the C5 team, Dr. Dickson and Dr. Ajayi.

Denying medical care and MRI's to people who aren't fully vaccinated. Absolutely despicable. There are no words for how messed up that is.

I had hernia surgery here yesterday and could not say enough good things about this Hospital the doctors the nurses the staff everybody went above and beyond to make sure I get the best care possible my surgery was scheduled for 1: 45 I was on the operating table and being put to sleep by noon and was home and in my own bed by 4 that day. I see a lot of the bad reviews on here or about waiting times at the emergency room that's what's going to happen it's the emergency room some days are busier than others expecting to wait six hours is not that big of a stretch (it used to be worse) and if you had life-threatening issues you wouldn't be waiting that long. Other people are allowed to have their opinions and post their reviews I would just like to give the information as honestly and transparent as possible I have no grudges and I honestly say you would be in the best hands if you go to this hospital.

Doctors, Nurses and staff were great but its obvious they were short staffed. That said the ER volume was nuts and as a patient saw first hand how staff dealt with "difficult" individuals professionally.

I went to BGH for a routine xray. DWing looks like a war zone with plastic sheets, desolate setting, etc.but my welcome was warm and efficient. They are taking every precaution known. Process was efficient, staff so very friendly. They are even taking on new volunteers! Parking is easy, pay machine moved to new exit which is very close. Hopefully the setting gets back to 'normal' soon. Overall pleasantly surprised by experience.

I've had to go here a few times and have been treated really well and received great care. I like that their emergency department has a see & treat area that is like a cross between a walk-in and emergency room. The doctor that saw my husband for a serious infection made sure he got the proper medication dosage (he was given improper dosage at another hospital)
I also recently gave birth there and the staff were really nice. I didn't see the doctors too often as it was really busy but when my labour started to have complications they didn't hesitate to get me to the OR right away. And the food during my stay was really good!

So slow your newborn baby gonna come out 2 years old. Don't realize when somebody needs a wheelchair on the way in and for some reason can't even give someone an advil for a dislocated shoulder within 3.5 hours

Edit: the doctors were great, the triage nurse not so much, but they were very busy. Once she was treated (or near to bring treated) things got better. Total 6 hours

Just had a hip replacement surgery on Wednesday and discharged on Thursday. Every staff person I met in there were friendly, courteous and very obliging. From the screening staff to the cleaners, nurses and doctors everyone was very helpful

Just spent 3 nights and days there. Can't say enough good about emergency icu staff. Special shout out to Akeem Aiken.
Only one night on cardiac floor but staff also very good.
All staff grossly overworked. Hospital way over capacity as witnessed by halls full of people on stretchers. And the facility is too old and shoddy.
Staff is amazing to cope at all in conditions they have no control over.

Honestly went in this past Friday 1am, the triage nurse was very slow for only three people in there.

However thankfully I was sent up to L&D.

If you can wait 6/7/8+ hours to be seen then clearly it isn’t an emergency. Stop backing up the hospital and go see your regular doctor.

The Triage Nurse does not just put you in queue the way you come in the door, everyone is seen according to the need of their issue, and if it gets worse they have it posted to let the triage nurse know.

I went to the Fracture Clinic for my left wrist. I saw two Orthopedic Surgeons. The first was Dr. Hickey. He told me I needed surgery. The second is Dr. Niroopan who did my surgery. They are both excellent.

I will make sure I die before I come back here for help and that's a promise even if I'm dying and if I am depressed I'll make sure my next suicide attempt works just so I don't have to go back the worst mental health staff and emergency room staff ever. Please go to Norfolk or hagersville especially for emergency situations you'll be treated with actual respect and they'll make sure you're OK and have someone come to sit with you.

Went to the Emergency room next day after a surgery because I was having pain and peeing blood. I was told not to drink or eat anything until a doctor says so. I was seen after almost 4 and half hours and only after I started voicing my indignation.
After 4 and half hours I was dehidrated - mind the surgery was kidney related that require regular hidration.
The whole experience was ridiculous co sidering all the priding posters about the "20 min wait, only".

My little girl had to wait 3 hours with a broken arm.
This is not acceptable at all! Ever for anyone or child to wait that long with a broken arm! Today was not a busy day there was a total of 7 people in wait rooms even in the examination rooms there was one other person! The lady at the front desk is absolutely not with it.slower than the second coming.you get paid well to do your job so do it? ! Stop taking your sweet time because that neglecting your patients! Wake up!

I had surgery on my broken arm in May. It was a complicated fracture and I was quite concerned. Surgery went well. I received excellent care from Dr. Niroopan and his team. It's been a trying time however I couldn't ask for better treatment than I've received from Brantford General Hospital.

Dont even waste your time with BGH, In personal experiences waits average about 6hrs (Includes Triage and See And Treat) and once someone finally does come to see you the care is ok at best, Would recommend just going to a different hospital like, Joseph Brant in Hamilton, West Haldimand in Hagersville or Cambridge Memorial

My father had excellent care from all staff! They were all working very hard and doing their very best. All treated my Dad with care and respect.

I saw Dr. Andrea Unger on an overnight for severe eye pain. I could truly feel her compassion and drive to figure out the source of the pain. Sent me home to await results and she even called me when she got up after her night shift to tell me my results because I didn't have a family doctor at the time. Went above and beyond, best ER doctor I have ever seen!

Every time I have come here I’ve always had an unpleasant check in, I find the emergency triage staff bullish and cold. I’ve once left the ER because the nurse made me feel unwelcome. I’m actually here again at the ER this moment and same experience. No hospitality or common courtesy.

I have attended for several procedures during pandemic. It is run smoothly and efficiently and I have felt safe on every occasion.
