On Saturday, December 9th, 2023, we hit up Brazen Head in Liberty Village for a 9: 45 PM burger and fries grab. This was right after our chewy, stringy, subpar steak escapade at Local (also in Liberty Village).
The burgers? The meat patties were good. But the fries? Oh, the fries. The second we stepped out with our takeout, the air was filled with the not-so-delightful scent of past-their-prime fries.
Back home, we were greeted by the sight of fries that looked more charred than gourmet. Giving them a reluctant taste test, we quickly realized they were destined for the bin - both the sweet potato and the regular ones got a one-way ticket to the trash.
Seems like Brazen Head might be under the impression that fryer oil is like fine wine - better with age. But nope, serving up these 'vintage' fries to paying customers isn't quite the gourmet experience they might think.
Just a heads up Brazen Head when the fries start smelling of an extra smoky stench and the oil is darker, thicker, and slicker textured, it's time for a fresh batch. Guess you didn’t know that working in a restaurant and all.
Fantastic atmosphere, location, and service, held back by food quality. The food is just too greasy. If the food was less greasy, I would've become a regular. Burger was good though.
We had brunch here and I really liked the service and atmosphere! Mimosas and Irish coffee, pork belly benny plus the gyozas are what I remember fondly
The place looks fabulous and inviting. Someone spent a lot of money making this place great and it shows. Great atmosphere in a superb location. We sat on the patio & had a 360 view of everything going on around us. To be fair we only had the beer, but the beer I had I've never seen anywhere else prior. I am gonna come back and try the food next time.
Themselves was super great. Very fast service and absolutely wonderful keeping us supplied with what we needed. Love the selection of beers and the pot pie was awesome.
I'm on the patio. Pigeons are on the other tables eating leftover french fries. It's been 15 minutes. They are not clearing the food. Birds are on the tables throwing fries to the ground for others birds to eat. It's kinda like the zoo.
It was a very nice place to get a brunch before the COVID19 crisis but it is now a very cheap and low quality food place. Service is also very slow. I am not sure it is a good strategy to recover your losses to lower your standards. Very disappointed, we will not come back.
Ordered Crispy Pork Belly with Potato Skins, Calamari and Chicken Fingers. Had to return the first two dishes since they were undercooked and not what we were expecting. Chicken fingers were good, with a decent serving size. The staff was extremely friendly and didn't charge us for the dishes returned.
Excellent service and the food was amazing. I highly recommend the duck pie! I wish that their menu offered some traditional Irish food, but good all around. You should give the place a try.
After going multiple times, going in a big group is always terrible service. If they put you near the door on the first floor, its so secluded and boring there. However, in the summer and when their upstairs patio is open, it much funner and the inside is much nicer. Has potential!
Came here on a casual Wednesday evening.didn't want to cook so I decided to get some take-out. Ordered had a couple of drink while waiting. Overall good experience until the server gave me the take out bag which previously ripped and she tried to tape it up without warning me that the integrity of the bag was ruined. As soon as I grab it the bag falls apart. So I paid 80 dollars for a quick and easy takeout and I had to be cautious my food didn't splatter over the street. I did manage to save from dropping all over metro floor
What an awful experience, and a shame that this place has become this. I used to be a regular here before Covid, Brazen head was my go to spot for everything- pre and post TFC, brunch, Saturday night etc. - so going post Covid I was ready for restrictions and menu limitations but I was not ready for everything else. As previously stated in reviews is this place under new management? We had a few problems at our table and they were handled with zero professionalism! An arrogant manager who seemed to care more about how his hair looked and his buddies were enjoying their drinks than how actual paying customers were. Our server was rude and uninterested and we couldn’t get the attention of anyone else. The food was less than average, and ridiculously expensive. I used to be a regular here for the tap of the day specials they done but i see they’ve increased their prices and decreased their service levels? No. I’ll take my business to Local, or Craft. Anywhere the service and product is actually decent.
Very disappointed. Looked like a great pub place, but when we went the beer selection is poor and expensive and the server never came back to our table after taking our order. Once I got up to ask another server for mayo for my fries and never got it, just forgotten. Spent $50 just to have an average meal and leave somewhat angry. The server served the table of 5 tipsy guys 3 timea in 15 min, but never even looked at the small tables of couples. I suggest going to The Craft Brasserie and Grill around the corner; it's way better in every aspect.
Food is a little salty across several items on the menu. Service is spotty, but love the dog friendly entertainment and menu! Also they should tell customers up front when their draft beer is not working, not after we sit down.
The service was wayyy to slow for it being basically empty. I brought my puppy with me and ordered him the unseasoned chicken and dog biscuit, it came completely seasoned with 3 different salts which can be dangerous for dogs.when we were about to pay I wanted to order him a sundae instead of the biscuit and see if its possible since it never came and she let me know they were out of basically everything on the menu, since I'm a paying customer I believe she should have let me know way before I had to ask for it myself. If you are welcoming dogs please be more prepared. Our food was ok, definitely wont be coming back.
It was good but they changed the menu. Its basically sub average pubfare you can find across the street. Miss the UK inspired menu with cottage pies and such
I think Brazen is doing a dis-service being in such a great location and serving such overpriced not so great food.their signature burger was below average.soggy fries.never going back
The brazen bowl is a great salad, super tasty loaded with protein, cucumbers, quinoa, and tomatoes! Perfect for a quick lunch that will keep you feeling satisfied all day!
Unbelievable night, wasn't too sure what it would be like to go out again after this pandemic but Oran and Cormac bought life back to all, of us! Fantastic guys fantastic atmosphere, this is what we all missed! Thanks guys x
Was my favourite spot before covid. Awesome menu and great service and have been here probably 20 times in the last 2 years. Came here two weeks ago with my girlfriend and they upped the prices on the entire menu, cut the portions in by like 80% and the quality was awful.
They give you everything in these super small trays. Got nachos and two burgers and there was quite literally 15 chips in the plate. No cheese, just shredded lettuce and some tomatoes.
To make matters worse the service was so horrible people around us were getting up and going to the servers booths on the patio to get their own cutlery and napkins. They weren’t even understaffed, but the waitresses all seemed to go inside for 20-30 minutes at a time and just not even come out.
We got there at 7: 10, after 22 minutes got our first drink then had 3 more each, staying 2 hours and 35 minutes. At about the two hour mark we didn’t event want to be there, but were still waiting the mains and drink refills. The staff seemed flustered, but this was probably one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had.
Went here for a company party during stage 3 of the 2021 pandemic lockdown at their Black Sheep Rooftop Patio.
Had a great time! Drinks were fantastic. Food was fresh and varied. The service was friendly, professional and very accommodating.
We had a group of about 20 or so. Brazen head provided a large assortment of domestic, imported, craft and mixed drinks. Even had some novelty drinks like the Jail Bird that are worth it!
They also have a Dog Menu! Yes, even your dog's can have a nice meal just for them!
If I were to provide any feedback, I would recommend that the calamari dish have the sauce on the side so the breading stays crispy, everything else we had was pretty amazing thought.
Brazen a head. Way passed even. Biden you'll see that Biden's Presidency will be short lived like a simple bite of an Apple Inc.as e and in Peach, well it's not Pink. He was red too.
Wings were no good. Small and fatty. The service was EXCELLENT. Seriously so good. The fries were amazing. The decor is gorgeous and natural brick with beautiful arm chairs and a retired brick furnace. Not too expensive considering the neighborhood and it being in toronto. Gorgeous up and coming neighbourhood there too, the servers really really stood out. They were quick and nice and accommodating. We only got to try the late night menu but I'd definitely go back for dinner sometime.
Stopped in for dinner with the family for the long weekend. We had fish and chips and the lettuce wraps. Both were tasty and delicious. Our server Alex went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Request her section if you are at Brazen!
The atmosphere is great and the food was tasty. There are two reasons for the 3 star rating:
1. I ordered the Lucky Greens salad and was surprised to see its small size for the price point. It was very good, but with only a few asparagus pieces and some other greens. I would have expected a salad size portion. I'm glad I made the decision to add falafel to my salad as they were delicious! But again, I found the price point of the entire meal to be quite high given the portion size.
2. My wife ordered the chicken tenders that came with fries and coleslaw. Very generous portion of chicken and fries, but a small scoop of coleslaw. When she asked for a bit more coleslaw, she was told it would be an additional 3.50 which I thought was over the top. Again, for the price point I think an extra scoop of coleslaw could have been spared.
The overall impression was good and we had a great time except for the above points.
My bartender Dane was very knowledgeable and professional. He made incredible drinks (his recommendations were on point) and his service was very quick. My visit was great, and I will definitely be back!
Ordered the Cobb salad (spring mix with an egg BUT NO AVOCADO) with chicken. They put 4 tiny pieces of chicken for $8……. And I do mean 4 SMALL pieces. Definitely lessons are required about what a Cobb salad is. The burger was good. The service was excellent.
This building wears a lot of hats but it's the staff that keep the wheels on the bus that make it worth visiting. Dain on the bar and Amy, everywhere from the roof to the hearth to the wood, make this restaurant a home away from home.the tap list is thoughtful and the food fills cravings that don't go away, even years later. Many come by for TFC or music events but I enjoy the moments in between the rush, spent with friends. There's always a deal on and a decent pint of Guiness. One of the truest Public Houses in Liberty Village.
Wanted to visit here but they parred us off and sent us upstairs instead where we were served by very clearly drunk staff. Will be reporting this business for irresponsible practices
Good and jovial place to enjoy your evening and have a nice dinner with your family and friends. Nice place for an office party. Good and supportive staff.nice behavior.good stock of beers and wine.
Very average pub, very average service, very average food and expensive prices for what you get. I would've put three stars but when you consider you eat a better hamburger at McDonald's for half the price of what you pay at this place, there's clearly something wrong. Never coming back.
Brutal service! Sat down at the table for 45 min and didnt get served. Servers looking right at us and not coming over. I know its an Irish pub, but maybe they dont like Asians there. ¿¿¿¿ i told the bartender and he didnt care. So we had no other option but to leave because we actually were hungry and wanted to eat dinner that night lol Unbelievable!
Great place in a beautiful neighborhood. The server was so nice and knowledgeable. The food was great and the beer was cold. A rock band with a great singer. All in all a great experience.
They recently changed the menu. Very disappointing. Went there with the hockey team and ordered nachos. They were essentially kiddy size. 16$ and absolutely tiny. Mediocre at best. Very disappointing and over priced. Expensive parking also.
Great place with a relaxed feel. We've taking to stopping in for a couple drinks or a meal right before heading to BMO field to catch an Argo game and it's consistently great.
Love the Brazen Head, one of our favorite pubs! Awesome atmosphere and great good. Cooper was very personable! Will definitely come back when we're in the Village.
Great place, awesome patioS and food is on point! Service is hit or miss, never bad but can be quite long. I still highly recommend this spot if you're in the area. Note: great music selection, thumb up to whoever is in charge of the playlist.
I absolutely love this pub! Awesome vibe and very cool building. Our server, Cooper, gave us a little history lesson on the building, great experience. Fantastic service as well. My wife and I are definitely coming back. Thanks again Cooper. Cheers!
Pleasant place and "perfect" server (Calvin). We were greeted and seated promptly by a nice young, woman whose name I didn't learn, but our server had a brilliant smile, good-humour with his good services, remembering to ask if the 8 of us would like separate bills. We had the ribs, the stew and burgers, as well as some beers and dessert, including a couple specialty coffees. All were tasty and priced reasonably-although the stew could have been a bit thicker and hotter when served and it was disappointing they had only one apple pie serving available. We would go back and take friends again if in the neighbourhood though.
The location is great, close to many stores and residences. The atmosphere is nice and the pub is large that can fit quite a bit of people. Looks great inside. We went here for brunch. The brunch menu is just perfect, not to many options to make it difficult to choose. Unfortunately, the food took very long to be served. Over 45 mins just for breakfast and it was only less than half full of patrons. They need to increase staff in the kitchen to ensure food comes out in a timely fashion. 45 mins wait for brunch is too long.
First time guest at this fabulous pub. Great atmosphere, kind and knowledgeable staff. Dain was an amazing server. Thank you for a wonderful experience and I definetly will be returning the next time I am in the city!
My one and only complaint is parking. Oh wait, that's got nothing to do with the restaurant. The food is great, my fav is the 1lb guiness ribs. Only once did I get it a bit too overcooked but nobody is God. Beer selection is decent. All the essentials are there, a perfect balance of classics and crap, I mean craft beer. They even have the sticky Irish pub table down pat too. Nice patios (yes, plural) too.
Food and prices were quite good, but service was lacklustre; more than three wait staff seemed to be involved with taking, delivering our order and tallying our bill.
Stopped for breakfast on a whim. Entire group was very pleased that we did. One star lost since the waitress wasn't around to keep the coffee flowing. Food was worth the wait however.
Love the Brazen Head for brunch, a great spot in Liberty Village with a great patio to enjoy great company with amazing food. Our server Taz was great.
I am updating the review from 4 star to 2 star after my visit again this week. This time we were waiting for our food for almost an hour without any update from our waiter. Funny thing is its lunch time and there were only few tables occupied. We lost patience and we were asking other waiters about our order as we were not able to find ours. Other waiters didnt even care. They were just attending their tables. So rude! Finally our waiter came with our food when most of us were already late for our work. We had to gulp our food fast and rush back to work. Also the patty in my bold burger sandwich was more black like burnt. Not satisfied with my visit this time.
As always, have had a great experience here (the 1st bar in Liberty Village). Service has been wonderful from the beginning. Ayoub the bartender is great conversation and extremely professional. Oh, and try the Nachos!
I visited the pub around 2: 30 in the afternoon, on a Thursday, and it was not busy and not only was the food not up to par, but service was terrible. I ordered a Rueben Sandwich and it was so dry I didn't even finish eating it. For the price, I had higher expectations. I had heard good things, but from my experience I don't plan on returning.
