Briarwood Animal Hospital

Been coming to this clinic for years and I’m not happy about your new hours. The average person does not finish work until 5 o’clock and cannot get there anytime sooner. I just called to ask if you guys could hold on a little bit longer while I race there after leaving work early to get the food that I need for my animals and the girl told me she could not wait any longer than 4: 50 PM. Not impressed.
Edit: She locked the doors at 4: 52. I see in the other reviews that you pride yourself in “gold star service” and with this awful example of customer service, I will be leaving this clinic.

I found the staff and the doctor to be extremely informative and friendly. Having a new puppy. I had a lot of questions and everyone including the doctor took the time to answer them all. I would highly recommend Briarwood

The staff care, enough to be very honest and affordable, compared to vets in the Hamilton area. Our Aussie loves them, even after quite a few puppy visits. Go here if they can take you!

The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They informed about my options and costs and were open to any questions.

I brought my kitten in and the vet was super friendly and good with him! They truly love animals here. It was only my first appointment but I was very pleased! Hoping my next appointments are the same.

I visited Briarwood for the first time with my cat. Briarwood was the animal hospital my neighbour used so I thought I would try there. I was welcomed and Billy's appointment went very well, although he was not impressed. The technician was very helpful and friendly; the appointment room and waiting area were both clean and bright. The Dr was very good with Billy and even got down on the floor in order to make friends with him and be on his level. They were very tolerant when Billy was not cooperating with the tasks to be done, so gave me options on how we could proceed. Overall I was very pleased with our visit however it did take a few treats to get Billy to forgive me. Thank you Briarwood for making us feel welcome as new clients.

Dr. Dealia Anderson was thorough, patient, unrushed and great with our two yr old dog. She agreed to handling all the issues I had on my agenda. More than pleased with her, front end staff along with Animal Assistant that attended us today. Positive experience.

April 8-I brought my dog in today for his heart worm test along with my cat for an app which I was late for due to cat issues. I was charged for a different blood work up and had to call when I got home for it to be changed to the proper test.don't know how this happens as they knew why he was there and I even asked the vet tech not to get his meds ready due to the amount I knew this bill would be. I am in every mouth if not earlier so I would pick it up at a later date. I have tons of time still anyways.this wasn't a problem so why put in some other painel to charge me more. Like I said on my other review, I find the prices have gone up a lot more then they should have and then you want to charge even more for something he doesn't need now.

April 8/2023-I was in with Tigger my cat, unfortunately I was late but called to say I was on my way. Sorry due to car issues it couldn't be helped. My appointment was for 9: 30 but ended up in and seeing vet about 12: 15pm. I ended up waiting as it is just hard to get a good time for me and didn't want this app postponed any longer. It went well and my girl seems healthy and they were happy to say how sweet she is. I just have to wait on her blood results to come in now.
Oh-P>S>: I am very unhappy with how much things have gone up here. I know everything has but I do find some of these services very high.

Best animal hospital in town! Staff are super kind & welcoming. Always accommodating & efficient. I truly feel comfortable bringing Mia there & never feel rushed. Always heard & comforted. Literally all my questions are always answered. They go above & beyond. Definitely 10/10.

After some less than satisfying experiences at two other local clinics I am so pleased to be back at Briarwood with the care of my beloved kitty under Dr. Gallagher. Her gentle manner, wisdom and experience give me the confidence to know that my senior cat with multiple health issues is well taken care of.

The people at Briarwood are very goid not only with the anmials also the owner, they take their time with examination. And explain everything to you.

Edit 2022: unfortunately I have had to change my review since my initial positive visits as all the previous vets have left Briarwood and the standard of care seems to have declined. My pup had a bad vaccine reaction and it wasn't documented as discussed at the time.

After a poor experience with another vet, I chose Briarwood based on these reviews and I'm so glad I did - they were fantastic and my new puppy loved being there! Everyone at Briarwood made my pup feel like a million bucks. Dr. Kate was extremely courteous, open to discussion and ultimately cared about my opinion and doing what's best for my pup. Thank you, we will be back!

My dog was suddenly unwell and I needed a local vet clinic as mine was now hours away. I called the clinic after receiving a glowing reference From a existing client…and so thankful to get into clinic that day. Having a sick pet is always so worrisome and from first call at reception to vet technicians to Veterinarian I felt we were both being taken care of! Great experience and happy to have this as my new vet clinic!

No frightened patients and honest prices. We searched for a vet in our area that didnt frighten our pets or push us to purchase extra things. Briarwood cares about your pet. They care about their patients like a nurse cates for a human.

This vets office doesn’t even deserve one star. At one time Briarwood Animal Hospital was owned and operated by Randy and Scott Sterling. The have retired and now renting the building to Velocity animal hospital but still using the Briarwood name. If you never read a review before I hope you read mine and believe what I’m saying. My 11 year old cat who I treasured with all my heart was ill so I brought the cat to Briarwood He was ill to a point where I felt he should be euthanized and they told me the cat needs X-rays blood test etc.before they could do this I knew my cat was sick. I told them to please just euthanize him. They said no not until this is done so I had no choice but to allowed them to do this. 850 dollars later. They told me my kiddy was ok. He just needs antibiotics and change his food. 1 1/2 months later June 16 this year 12: 30 at night. He gave me his last meow laying on my kitchen mat he passed away before my eyes. My heart is broken. I called them and they used any excuse they could not to give me my money back. I felt they burned me They clearly are in it for the love of money not animals. Believe me they care less about you or your animal. To this day they didn’t even call and and see how I was My cat suffered for a few months before it past away here at home There are lots of vets offices you can go too don’t go this Briarwood/ Velocity animal hospital. Don’t let them burn you for your hard earned money. When you’ll only be so very hurt at the end. RIP.my Maxy. ️️.

I had very bad experiences at this animal hospital, receptionists were rude, and disrespectful most of the time. They are money grabber clinic instead of looking at the best interest of animals. Please do not support this kind of behaviour.

Amazing vet with the most amazing staff! They always have the best interests of our dogs in mind and are very professional with us humans. 5 loudest borks all around.

I have been going to Briarwood since I moved to the area. One of the best care facilities for your pet in the Hamilton / Stoney Creek area. Staff are friendly and considerate. One of my pups passed away and they took care of receiving my pups ashes and sending condolences as well. Thanks for all the great care!

Rude and do not provide the care your pet needs in a timely manner. Also very over priced when compared to other local vets.

I recently lost my dog of 13 years and am new to Hamilton. I brought her brother in because I was deeply concerned he would suffer the same fate. This clinic was referred to me by a friend of my mothers. I was so happy with our visit. The vet (sorry I am not good with names) was so sweet and kind about our loss. She then examined my Toby and for the first time is over 20 years of having dogs and going to vets, she examined Toby down on the floor. She sat down and lovingly, gently but thoroughly examined my boy. A few days later and he has a clean bill of health. I couldn't be any happier with this clinic. 10000000 stars all the way!

Friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. I don't see why I'd ever take my cat anywhere else:)

So far it has been great! They take their time and the doctors are good. Only sometimes they take too long to get back to you beucase of high volumes but otherwise its good. I wish though if they wouldv'e recommended their care plans the first time I brought my kitten in, it wouldv'e saved me quit some money.

April 24 2021-I had to go back at 2pm to take my other two Flower and Baby Bud for scheduled blood tests as these two siblings have hyperthyroidism. Fingers crossed the blood work comes back great.

April 24 2021-Had to take my smokie back in for a recheck of her eye due to an abscess that came up two weeks ago. Thank you Doc Harrison for seeing her and for Doc morgantti for her recheck. All I am so happy for you both and what you do for my fur babies.

Nov 14/20- Went back with all three of my cats and had them vet checked and all needles updated with blood work done and all good for another year.yayay

Oct 24/20-I had to bring my Lucky in as he ripped of a nail. All fixed up and he was doing great after a few days of antibiotics and pain killers to help well he healed.

Sept 3/20- Took my Finaghan in as he was losing weight and sneezing. Blood work done and came back saying all was good so I was told to monitor him and call if he was still sneezing.

Dec 19/20-Finaghan went back in to recheck blood and even though a few things changed it was nothing to worry about he is in good condition except still losing weight.

Dec30/20-Thought it was best to see what was happening inside my Finaghan so scheduled Radiographs to be done. Doc found something but said he should come back after 24 hours on an empty stomach so see if it disappears. Also stating that I would not be charged as he was just in the day before. But

Dec 31/20- I brought my Finaghan back in at I believe it was 8: 30 on an empty belly and they did one more Radiograph which cost me a bit over 60.00$ when I asked why they said it was for the pic but because he was in the day before they didn't charge me for the service but yet that was not told to me and I was so upset we are taking getting him in twice stressed and hungry and not eating for the half day before getting him home was unacceptable to me. I feel I was lied to and charged yet again for a service that the vet should have been able to do the first time if I was told to have him fast before bring him in. I will request (and have already) not to see this vet again. AND of course I still have no answers so the pass 4 appointments have given me no answers to what I took him in for originally (which was for the sneezing) And it still continues to td Jan 9/21-Money is all I see going out the window and with the pandemic and many struggling (me included) I find this again unacceptable.

My dog loves Dr. Morganti and all the staff here. Been taking my dog here since we got him. 10/10

This was always our go to clinic when we lived in the city. Exceedingly helpful and always easily reachable.

The team at Briarwood Animal Hospital team is phenomenal! From appointment scheduling to patient discharge, the team was professional and courteous. Dr. Harrison is extremely knowledgeable and compassionate in her approach. She is very thorough when providing her diagnosis and recommendations. As a first-time pet owner, she has a way of reassuring me that no matter the reason for my visit, my pet will be okay. Amy was very detailed in providing discharge instructions and great with her follow-up on next steps required. At Briarwood Animal Hospital, I know my pet is in good hands.

They are so gentle with your pet. They tell you exactly what they will do. They will take the time to answer All your questions. They Also have financial plans so you can pay for 12 months interest free.

I live in St. Catharines and I still take my dog to Briarwood Animal Hospital, because they take such good care of my boy! The ladies at reception and the technicians are all wonderful and they're such a pleasure to deal with. Dr. Morghanti is the best veterinarian that I've had for any of my animals. She takes such a personal approach to the way she cares for and treats my dog. She is absolutely fantastic, and totally worth the drive from St. Catharines!

Every single staff member here is super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend their care plans, they cover everything your pet might need.

I took my lab here for our first visit last weekend and even though I could not go inside the clinic because of COVID, they were very helpful while calling me from inside as I waited from the parking lot. I am very happy I found this clinic. They were thorough with his appointment and my Diesel seemed just fine when they were done with him. Thank you ladies and gents at Briarwood:)

My wife and I rave about the amazing service we recieve here! The vets have amazing bedside manner (or dog is old, so results aren't always good news). They are very clear with what we can do to make our old guy comfortable and for that we couldn't be more grateful. They are also very transparent about what tests need to be done, what treatment options are available and the costs of both. It is truly a lovely experience bringing our dog here.

Probably wouldn’t go to this vet if it wasn’t for Dr. Larocque. Anytime I’ve met with other vets at this office they’ve been robotic with the pets and kind of push treatments with vague explanations, the vet today suggested that my dog lose weight but didn’t go over tips on how to help after I explained we’ve been struggling for 2 years. Just showed me a chart of her weight gain over the years. Wasn’t asked what food she is on or how much I’m giving her. I will only see Dr. Larocque and usually only request her but because timing had to see another vet. Dr. Larocque is great with explanations and not pushy at all. She’s also great with my pets to the point where my one dog gets excited to go in and usually is nervous around people. The reception staff is also great because of them and Dr. Larocque I keep going back.

Every employee is amazing and compassionate. They go above and beyond for their clients and patients.love this clinic and all the good they do for me and my fur family!

Just started bringing my dog here and I am very happy with the service of the vets. We happened to get a new vet that just started but you would never have known from the way she interacted with my pup. She went out of her way to do the interaction with him on the floor so he would be more comfortable! Highly recommend this place as they will take really really good care of your pet!

I followed Dr. Colette Larocque here because she is a phenomenal vet and my dog loves her. She is very knowledgeable and the first time she met my dog she got on the floor and crawled under the bench to see her. She is kind and loves animals. She is never rough and she takes her time examining the dog. I love how softly she talks to my dog. Dr. Larocque takes the time to explain what is wrong with your pet, gives you vaccinations options and treatment options.
Briarwood is clean, their staff has great customer service and I was impressed they promote fear free visits. Clearly they love animals as much as we love our pets!

They will love and care for your animals as you would could not ask for anything more from the staff here.
