Bridgeport House

I absolutely love my experience here! The facilities are top-notch, the staff is incredibly helpful, and the community vibe is unbeatable. A perfect 5-star choice for any student.

Just renewed my lease for the 4th year! Big rooms with ensuite bathrooms, good heating/ ac, and quick maintenance repairs.

There is apparently an ant infestation. To their credit management has been proactive with sending exterminators. I think if you keep your apartment relatively clean you can minimize coming into contact with them (I have not personally seen any since I moved in, and I keep the place pretty clean).

Neighbours and roommates can be loud sometimes. The walls are very thin.

Room was pretty dirty when I moved, with command strips still on the walls, and broken blinds. They ask you to do a move in report on an app that is terrible, constantly crashes (I had to fill it out ~3 times), and seemingly only lets you submit a single picture at one so make sure you take plenty of dates pictures in addition to filling this out when/if you move in.

Laundry is kind of expensive. They want you to buy a $10 card in addition to paying for each load.

Managers will enter your apartment with incorrect notice given which I find very frustrating. They’ll tell you they’re entering the apartment on a specific date and will show up several days later.

Personal ensuite washrooms are pretty great. They’re small but a huge plus when you are living with roommates.

Rooms come with double beds, desk, chair, night table, and decently sized closet. Bed is pretty high off the floor so you can use underneath for extra storage. There is also a pantry for each tenant in the kitchen. Kitchen is small but manageable. I would suggest getting a mini freezer because you will likely be struggling for fridge space with roommates.

Location is pretty good. Lots of nearby restaurants and amenities, and a ~30 minute walk (~10 minute bus drive) from campus. Bus stops are close by, too.

Underground parking is a huge plus.

There were internet issues when I moved in initially but they were great about fixing it. They were also really great about getting me a room; I had a very stressful search starting in May/June with not a lot of good options, and was able to get in here which I am super grateful for.

Overall not a bad experience.

EDIT: I would like to increase my review to a 4/5. I've recently started staying at a uWaterloo dorm (CLV-N) and Bridgeport house is pretty amazing in comparison. You get air-conditioning, rooms with nice finishes (tile and laminate floor, hard non-laminate kitchen counters), and a space that feels much cleaner. There are some minor annoyances (ex, small kitchen, dirtiness, etc.). According to my roommate who still lives here they did a good job of cleaning out between new move-ins: she said they cleaned the common areas and the bedrooms. My experience with cleanliness might've been due to management recently taking over. As to the ants, I did see a handful (<15 in total; I saw them sporadically) of them in the summer months, but nothing too extreme.

Been challenging living here, maintenance request are slow to non existent. Rent prices are sky high with no recent updates to the building. Communicating with management next to none. At least it’s student friendly:) a home is a home! When moving in bring cleaning supplies+ ready to deep clean!

I’ve been living at Bridgeport for about 2 months and the experience has been great. The maintenance staff are quick and responsive. The staff always give back to their residents which I appreciate a lot!

Rooms are very spacious. Building is always clean. Management addresses issues immediately. Perfect place for students!

Great place to live at, decently priced but would appreciate a doorman for security purposes.

Really nice common areas. Bedrooms are fully furnished and spacious. Kitchen has lots of cupboard space and an extra freezer which is extremely handy. Overall great place to live as a student!

The rooms are very nice and I like the location. Also the common areas are kept very clean. The laundry machines are not great, but overall a good place to live.

Nice rooms. Staff is slow but helpful.
BUT a LOT of people smoke in their rooms or have pets, and it is very hard to do anything about it.
If you can get good roommates, it is a good and affordable location to be in.

Theyre very attentive to your needs if you come to them directly. They seem to genuinely care about their residents.

Had terrible experience with the management. I got a new lease and my room was given with very dim lights. Raised a request for change of lights in my room. The maintainence guy refused to change the lights. I guess they doesn't even cost 10 bucks (1.2% of monthly rent and 0.1% of yearly rent). Complained the same to management, but didn't get it resolved.

Eventually I am gonna loose my vision with such dim lights and may be this will be the the last review that I can write.

SILLY and FRUSTATING

New management is terrible.save your money, Preston and Bridgeport are no longer worth the cost anymore.

We just recently found Bridgeport just as it was transitioning to new management from Rez One. The coordinator Maddie has gone above and beyond with individual videos to show my son and help him choose where he wants to stay. We are looking forward to him going to Bridgeport this sept and am so glad that people like maddie will be the ones in management looking out for these kids.

One of my roommates and I originally came across Preston House which is co-managed with Bridgeport House. We toured Preston House first and fell in love, with the layout, the features, and personally for me, the pricing. The manager who gave us the tour, Madelynne, was so kind and enthusiastic, very friendly and uplifting. Someone who we would be happy to be managing our building. Since pricing at Preston is slightly higher than at Bridgeport so we opted in for a tour of that building as well. They are very similar so we were happy to have found a place we love for a fairer price.

Overall 9/10

I am currently in the process to moving into Bridgeport house as of the upcoming fall. I want to thank Madelynne for her amazing communication with me as I take my steps into moving in. She has done an incredible job communicating with me and helping me with any of my problems. Overall I look forward to moving into here soon.

I had a great experience with Madelynne and the rest of the new management team. My roommates and I are so excited to move into Preston house. We are so thankful for all the help and cooperation we received throughout the process!

I am now on the 31st day on the first month I've been renting here. Here are my problems:
None of the amenities are available. Gym, study room etc are locked with a sign on the door that reads "closed due to the coronavirus pandemic" ok.but when are they going to reopen? It is clear that none of the rooms will be won't be opening any time soon, and they aren't making any efforts to open

Kaitlind is certainly an experienced, caring building administrater who has the building well-managed. She has been working here for over a year and she apparently has done an amazing job in maintaining the property and coordinating between tenants and maintainance workers. Communication with Kaitlind is efficient and smooth. I am overall very satisfied as a tenant here.

AC does NOT work in the building. Have made many complaints and yet nothing has happened. As I type this at 8am, it is hotter inside the apartment than it is outside. It is making sleeping and just being in the apartment itself unbearable.

Staff was very friendly when showing us around and Lauren helped us feel comfortable with our decision. Rooms look very spacious too.

Was very happy at the quality of the rooms. The bedrooms are bright and there is a lot of natural light that comes in from the large windows. The kitchen and common area are also very nice with furniture that is reasonably comfortable.

Staff is very friendly and will answer questions or help you with anything you need. Lauren, Brendon and Erin always gave top quality service with anything necessary.

This is the cleanest building in all of the student housing options in the area as cleaning staff are there almost every day. Overall, have no complaints about Rez-One Bridgeport House and highly recommend it to anyone.

Just leased and am moving in in September. Faheem was a great help in the process and made the experience as easy as possible.

After searching around Waterloo for a place to live, we found Bridgeport house and Lauren did a fantastic job with helping us find a great apartment to lease for this upcoming year. We can't wait to move in this September! - Kyle

Signed my lease with Brendon last year, he made it quick and hassle free. Very happy with the high quality of the rooms and the on-suite bathrooms.

I signed my lease last year and I can highly recommend it. The staff was informative and helpful, especially Brendon, making the whole experience hassle-free. This was appreciated since I was new to the area at the time. Very happy with the high quality of the rooms and the cleanliness of the building.

I signed my lease today with Rez One Bridgeport House and I had Faheem helping me out.

Faheem was awesome — explained things to me in great detail and he was enthusiastic about showing me the rooms they had. The show room that they had was great — A great way to not disturb tenants currently living in the apartments. Unfortunate side is that you won’t see the space you’ll actually moving into until you get your keys.

I’ve read previous comments and it’s true that people usually leave comments when they’re dissatisfied. I hope my experience with Rez One will be a great one in September and onwards.
I was able to get the biggest room they offer. So if you’re wanting to get one of the cheaper ones, sign early! I’m looking forward to moving in my new space. Faheem did a great job assuring me that I will have a great experience! The lobby looked like its kept clean all the time, free refreshments, gym, laundry, lounge, study space. The paperwork was easy and overall great experience thus far.

The building and the rooms look great. Faheem was extremely helpful in getting us to sign the lease by explaining everything in detail.
