I have used Brytor for three international moves: Ottawa to Hong Kong (2014), Hong Kong to Brussels, Belgium (2019), and Brussels to Stratford, Ontario (2022). The first move was exceptional and the second was very good, but my 2022 move was horrible. I am only writing this review now, more than a year later, because my insurance claim is still outstanding and Brytor is showing no sign of resolving it. I feel obliged now to warn others about using this company.

My first experience with Brytor was outstanding. My agent was superb and provided excellent advice and support. The packers and movers were highly professional, careful and respectful of my belongings.

Our second move was fine, not the quality we experienced in Canada, but we attributed that to different overseas standards. We had insurance claims on both our Hong Kong and Brussels moves and both were handled very well. Good appraisers were sent right away to inspect the damages, skilled craftspeople were sent to make repairs, and settlements were prompt and professionally handled.

Regrettably, our third move has been a completely different experience.

Things went alright until delivery of our goods to our new home. The movers were labour, not professional movers, but pleasant enough. The mood was somber though because as our goods were brought into our home, our hearts sank as item after item was damaged. Many of the boxes were broken, crushed or had holes literally punched through the wrapping.

We had spent A LOT of time prior to our move reviewing Brytor’s insurance coverage with our Ottawa-based agent who facilitated and informed us throughout that process. We submitted our claim within the 30-day period required by the insurance company, which states an estimated deadline of 20 days for analysis. Four months later, they responded with an error-riddled, shockingly unrealistic offer.

We worked hard to find alternative repair solutions and submitted a revised claim. We then waited a further three months, only to receive yet another incomplete response that not only disregarded the extent of the damages caused by their movers but also failed to answer our questions. At no time has Brytor sent an appraiser to inspect the damages or quality of the furniture, nor have they provided any other repair or replacement options.

Brytor has offered compensation for some of the items, but we still have two items to resolve and Brytor is failing to respond. Repeated prompt emails and requests for a copy of the insurance certificate have not been answered and it has now been 13 months since we submitted our original claim.

I cannot express my shock at the decline in service from this company over the years. I engaged them in 2022 because I had such good experiences with them twice before. But this last move has been one where the company has shown poor quality of handling and great disregard for customer service. They have utterly failed to live up their promise of delivering peace of mind.

I cannot recommend Brytor. There are other options for movers. Do not use this company.

They never pay their bills and the destination would not release household goods until we paid again

Hello,

I had such a great experience dealing with Brytor International and i will definitely recommend their services for an international move.
My sales coordinator was Mouhcine out of the head quarter office in Montreal and his professionalism was just phenomenal.

Thank you again for making my move an enjoyable journey.

Cheers,

Been 3 months since the container left the port and still we didn’t receive it. Local customs claims that Brytor didn’t specify in their documents some important items… created huge delay. Update, it’s been 5 months and still receiving excuses, next week, next week…

Update, received some of the stuff after a year, the company didn’t include the tractor and ATV in the bill of lading which caused a huge delay. Still after 2 years haven’t received them. Was absolute nightmare dealing with the Quebec branch. They avoided calls and emails, and shifted blame. Worst experience I could imagine. We paid over 15,000$ for this ‘service’. Which I could give 0 starts.

Mouchine was very attentive to our needs and his follow up was excellent! He gave us various options to choose from and was flexible. It was a pleasure dealing with him! He also gave us different payment options! I would recommend them!

I contacted Brytor about my move from Ontario to the UK. Mouhcine was always very professional and always responded quickly to any of my enquiries. I was very happy that they would work around my time schedule and were so accommodating. I would definitely recommend their services as I felt 100% confident that my personal belongings were safe in their hands.

I used Brytor to move from Canada to Europe.

They originally agreed to assist with the shipment of household items as well as rifles and provided a quote on that basis. They then told me they couldn't assist with the rifles and refused a reduced quote, despite offering less of a service.

The insurance we purchased with them was not communicated to us accurately; we were told that if anything is missing on receipt, the insurance we paid would cover it. This was incorrect, as we had some items missing and the insurance company refused to cover them, as there were no entire boxes missing.

The movers in Toronto put a large hole (c. 6x3 inches) in the drywall of my living room whilst moving my sofa and didn't tell us, we only saw it when they left. Brytor did then give us a small amount (not enough to get someone in to repair it) to acknowledge this damage.

The weight they quoted initially, based on their estimate of what our things would weigh, was then increased by 10-15% after the goods were taken from our home. Some adjustment is to be expected, though I'd be interested if anyone (from any moving company to be fair) has had a reduced charge for less items being shipped once it's all been taken.

Overall, whilst Brytor was one of the cheapest quotes we received, we certainly got what we paid for. Most of our items arrived safely and with only a couple of plates broken, so it could have been worse. My 1 star comes from the fact that they tell you they can support with something (shipment of the rifles), then can't (one of those things, I get it), then refuse to adjust the quote, when they have your goods so it's too late for you to cancel the contract. Overall I therefore wouldn't trust them and advise steering clear.

I have had storage with Brytor for many years - I moved a lot of it from there to my new home last year. From the office staff to the furniture movers - the service was excellent, reliable, courteous. The price I was quoted was the price I paid! I'd definitely recommend them!

Extreme delays and very high demurrage charges without any updates during the process. There is no way of really knowing who is responsible for the delays because it's unclear if they are actually doing anything to get your container out of the port. I do not recommend this company. I've been waiting for my things for a month since they actually arrived in Canada. They do not deliver anything close to peace of mind.

Update: my experience only kept getting worst. The move ended up costing double of what we expected with fees and sanctions that we never got details about. We had to pay another company to take the boxes and plastic and we had to put together our furniture by ourselves (they charge extra for this. I truly do not recommend this company.

We used Brytor International to move our belongings from Canada to Taiwan. It was an excellent experience, they were attentive, all our belongings arrived in perfect condition, we chose shipping by sea. In Taiwan, one of the crew was fluent in English. We highly recommend this Company for International moving. We will definitely use their service again.

La pire expérience de ma vie.

Des ESCROT y a pas d'autre mots. On paye plus de 10000euro. Pour que une fois arrivé à destination te demande 1500euro en plus pour des frais de transport plus élevé.

Insolent et irrespectueux. Très long service

Nice and co-operative staff. Though I have to follow up but goods were delivered with proper care overall. They do not work on weekend but after my request they did delivery on weekend.

I moved to Toronto a couple months back now and I've contacted a french company to help me move.
The french part went wonderfully, however, when Brytor came into the picture and took the lead on the move once the boat reached Canada, it became a nightmare.
They barely reply to email and I have to constantly harass them to get information. Once I reached them on the phone, my contact (Hector) was not polite or friendly or understanding. He was very dismissive and told me that I should hear back two days later to clear custom. It took two weeks before I actually heard back and I sent him multiple emails in between and even called. I could sense on the phone that he was bothered.
I finally got that email to go clear custom on a Thursday afternoon and the Brytor contact rushed me to go to Mississauga early the next morning to "avoid rejection of customs clearance". I complied and went there the next morning at 8: 30am. I cleared custom, email back Brytor and have been waiting since then to hear back from them for a delivery date.
Again, my email are 50% of the time left unreplied and last time I got an answer, here's what I got "I am trying to contact your overseas agent for confirmation of delivery. If you are able to have them contact me that would be greatly appreciated! ". First of all, that's Brytor's job, not mine, but I reached out to my overseas contact who told me they couldn't help because it was in Brytor's hands now.
I'd like to kindly remind Brytor's team that moving is already stressful and complicated to deal with when it comes to administrative procedures. The least they can do would be to understand how relieving and crucial it is to be well accompanied. They handle personal belongings that we are more than entitled to claim and I don't see why the retention and long delays. I'm seriously tired of having to deal with them and I still haven't heard anything regarding a delivery date.
