Budget Car Rental

I hate writing bad reviews for business establishments. However, I cannot avoid writing about my experience with Budget Car Rental in Kingston Jamaica. I booked my reservations through Expedia and arrived in Kingston Jamaica on Dec 22nd 2023. This was supposed to be a 6 days trip to celebrate my birthday on Dec 24th and to see family and friends during the holidays. My flight from Atlanta arrived and hour late and by the time I cleared immigration and customs it was after 11PM. I quickly ran to the car rental office and they were closed. I called the number listed on the door multiple times and no answer.

I was approached by another disappointed customer who was facing the same situation. When she called they told her she would have to pay a ridiculous amount of money in order to get a vehicle. I tried calling the number she used and no one answered. With no hopes of getting a vehicle, my friend and I had no choice but to charter a car to take us to our airbnb.

The following day we went back to the airport and saw an agent in the rental office who told me that I should have notified them that the flight was late. She mentioned that the office closed at 10PM and there is no one available on site at that point. I was considered a no show so while I had a reservation and PREPAID for the car, the reservation is not valid. She continued to state that I would need to pay the new rate if I wanted to get the care which was around $250 per day. She should no empathy or care as it relates to my situation even explaining to her that I provided my flight information when booking the vehicle and was stuck on a flight which arrived into Kingston Jamaica late. I even explained to her of a similar situation I had over 10 years agao with Budget where I PREPAID for a vehicle and they accepted the money and reservations but when I arrived there were no car. At that point they took me to my destination in Red Hills and promised to have a car for me the next day and I never heard from them again.

This level of slackness and poor customer service is not going to work going forward so I am encouraging readers not to use BUDGET CAR RENTAL in JAMAICA.

Good rates for rental but would have preferred better customer service.

It was my first time booking and I felt like a lot of information was missing that was needed for a seemless experience. I didn't feel that they were overly friendly and clear about instructions. I also felt like the issues I had were an inconvenience and they weren't interested in helping me figure it out.

The safety hold on your credit it card is $750 which was much more then other rental companies and should be make clear prior to booking your reservation.

I would not recommend over competitor businesses.

Roy and the staff here were amazing! Earlier in the week I had booked a reso through another company, confirmed and ready for pick-up on the day I needed it. Arrived and no car for me, nothing. They took the reservation and did not honor it. So I began looking around and booked through Budget since they were the only place with cars available. I ended up cancelling because I didn't have any faith that a car would be ready and I was having to train from Belleville to Kingston just to get it and could not drop at another location. Roy guaranteed a car and even let me drop at YOW since I was flying out of Ottawa. Well, I got there in the morning and they had a car ready for me. Was able to make the 3hr drive to visit friends before dropping it at the airport and catching my flight. Can't thank Roy and the team enough at Budget for coming through for me at the last minute and going beyond. Truly appreciate it and would highly recommend going with Budget over the other rental options out there.

This business is outstanding! We had booked a car rental from a competitor and when we arrived they did not have a car for us and claimed they did not have any contact info for us so could not call. The manager from Budget, Kingston, Ontario came to pick us up from the competitor and had a car ready for us to rent. Once we arrived at the Budget office we met several other people in the same situation. We will always rent from Budget due to our positive experience.

I don't have a cc and needed a car so I could visit my dad who recently had surgery and a leg removed and needs groceries. I looked online where this company says they accept debit/cash down payment for rental and called their call center who confirmed they would.

Today I was denied getting a rental on the basis that I did not have a cc. To make the situation worse, the girl that was sitting at the desk behind the person I was speaking with was giggling to herself as I explained the situation with my father and that I had called to confirm this could be done. If I was a female, I would have smashed her face against the wall.

I then said I wanted to speak with the manager and said I wouldn't leave until the manager or owner made themselves present to explain the situation. They called the police so I left and said I would return Monday when hopefully a manager or the owner could manage to make themselves present.

Absolute garbage franchise location, if I was Budget/Avis I would pull my name off this trash operators building.

Went in to pick up my vehicle, three team members on, was not acknowledged for over 10 minutes, not even I will be right with you. The day before I did speak with I presume was a supervisor, and he was extremely helpful above and beyond. A total change to the day. Customer service it's not up to par.

The worst experience ever! The owner/manager doesn't know how to treat customers, and he was extremely rude. He really needs to learn proper manners and be kind instead of being rude and impolite, especially when it's the first time my family and I rented a car.

You can also see how differently he treats non-locals vs locals. First and last time.

Roy and his staff are outstanding. They have accomadated twice in the last 2 months. Top-rated service and very efficient checking you in and out. Highly recommend this location

Friendly staff, they have great hours, great experience overall. I will be going back to them. Roy was super nice.
