Budget Car Rental

Good vehicles, great price and superb service but most importantly the convenience of the location can not be beat. I recommend if you are flying into Toronto.

First time I rented. Pretty much DIY for finding car in the stalls and do the walk around by yourself to report a damage and mark on the paper provided by front desk. I will try others next time.

Quick service, friendly staff, range of vehicle choices, affordable, my first choice every time I travel!

I arrived at 6: 02 am for my 6: 00 am reservation (hours of operation are 6: 00 am to 1: 00 am). Two agents were at the desk chatting with each other while languidly setting up for the day, wiping down their workstation with antibacterial wipes etc. When I arrived, neither acknowledged my presence. After a moment, I greeted them and one agent looked up with annoyance, but simply stared without greeting. When I told them I had a reservation, she replied, again with annoyance, that I needed to wait as they were still opening. Throughout the entire experience from the rental desk agents to the person manning the exit gate, I felt like I was an inconvenience.

As a side observation, at 6: 09 am, another customer came in to inform the agents that she could not return her rental car into the lot because the entrance to the lot was still locked and no one was there to open the gate. She parked where she could and left her keys with the desk agent as she had to catch her flight.

If opening hours are 6: 00 am, the business should be ready to receive customers at 6: 00 am. If staff shifts also start at 6: 00 am, or they aren't scheduled early enough to ensure an ontime start, then the company has something to review.

I travel on business frequently and rent from YYZ at least monthly. I thought I would give Budget another try, but will not be intentionally bringing my regular business to Budget after this experience.

I recently had my first experience renting a car with Budget, and I was very impressed. I had originally rented a Hyundai Elantra, but when I arrived at the pick-up location, the agent informed me that they had upgraded me to a larger car, free of charge. She also explained that the pick-up location had changed, but she made it easy for me to get to the new location.

The car was clean and in good condition, and the pick-up and drop-off process was quick and easy. The staff was friendly and helpful, and they went above and beyond to make sure that I had a positive experience.

I would definitely recommend Budget Car Rental to others. I was particularly impressed with the free upgrade and the change in pick-up location for my convenience. These small gestures made a big difference in my overall experience.

Budget has a convenient in-terminal location. Service was quick and efficient, the car was nice and the rate was very reasonable. Returning the car was painless too. Overall a great rental experience.

Reserved a compact and quoted $150. When I arrived no compact was available, given a non-compact which costed $323.88. Double the price, which wasn't my fault. 21st century fraudulent advertising.

One day car rental booked online for $79. Actual charge: $230 - for less than 24 hours! I think they gave me a car that was too big. I'd be more careful at the desk about all the fees they add in (I didn't even take their insurance). I would never have booked with Budget if the actual price were advertised online.

We were thrilled with the customer service we received from the young Indian gentleman who assisted us with our car rental. Although he was serving so many demanding people he continued to be kind & compassionate to everyone. Our car was fantastic! Thank you Budget from Pete & Roxy Reimer

Guys did not mentioned I had to count km. Lied about amount. I had car for 4 hours. They put as if I drove 700 km.

Asked to fuel and I did. Did not asked for receipt and overcharged twice for estimated amount without explanation for what.

First time I have this experience with budget and I believe I will not use them any more.

I have proofs of my driving map as I was on drive wise to have insurance discount and fuel receipt

I have a feeling they charged me not for fueling- again without asking it or to keep p it. But I do as a habit.

And 700 km writhing 4 hours. Really? I did not even noticed i had to check the odometer and I believe they mistakenly printed 0 for 6. But I was not asked to check it. I had always car there with free km on it.
So never trust them any more.
They want you now to spend hours to read all small prints and don’t explain anything any more.

Great vehicle. Service on return was amazing. They helped us find our hotel, went above and beyond!

My husband and I rented a car in August and in October your company is reaching out to say that the windshield had a crack in it. Noone was there when we came in to return the car as your office was closed at that time in the morning. I was told the agent tried calling us but no missed calls or no voice message left. I called the Budget at Torronto Pearson Airport to speak with a manager and the representative I spoke with and I have her name gave me the cellphone number for someone completely unrelated to Budget. I'm not sure what level of dishonesty this is. How can you claim I damaged your vehicle but you have no proof to show me that I did the damage that you are claiming I did. I need a manager to reach out as this is unacceptable service. I would never rent from your company ever again and I will tell everyone I know not to rent from your company too. Very poor service and very dishonest.

Initially, we booked for a small compact car for the two of us to explore the city and to go to Niagara Falls. The reason is fuel efficiency and ease of parking in the City of Toronto. However, when we got to the counter, we were literally given two options: drive the Jeep Cherokee or wait for a compact car to come in (wasn't sure when that'll happen). We waited in line for so long and she took all the information already so we didn't have much of a choice. I would've cancelled the booking and went to another provider if I knew but that wasn't an option at that point. So I had to navigate the city with the large vehicle and it became a hassle as it didn't fit some underground parking lots at some major tourist attractions.
Positives were: the return was fairly simple, big company, no stupid charges or scams like other smaller companies.

The online check in that is supposed to speed things up at pickup is useless. You still have to do everything again at the desk. Also, my car wasn’t ready, had to wait 15min for a car to be brought, disappointing. Car was eventually decent though.

It has always been a good experience with Budget car rentals. But the only comment I have is, the time taken while picking up the rental car. If your system picks up the customer profile and previous history, it'll be easy for both your staff and the customer.

I loved my experience with Budget rental car at Pearson International Airport. I received an upgrade for the same price. I highly recommend Budget.

Efficient and quick pick up and return at YYZ. Very good selection and clean vehicles. Rental cost was competitive and fair. Would recommend Budget

Not provided with full details of hold cost prior to pick up. Additional cost of $250. The vehicle shut off in the middle of traffic and required manual start on a busy highway (401) extremely dangerous and scary! Not provided proper directions for vehicle pick up. Was sent to the other end of parking with all the luggage and another provider had to direct us to our vehicle.

Not sure why they want me to post a review of my experience but here it goes: first of all the car had tree sap stains all over it so it looked very dirty not that I could properly check it out in the very dark parking garage. Secondly, all the settings were in imperial not metric and the speedometer wasn’t digital so it was difficult to correctly gauge my speed. Thirdly, upon checking my credit card statement, I am dumbfounded to find a charge for $750 for less than 24 hour rental. The original price I was to be charged was just over $300. So, NO, I do not recommend renting from Budget

Beware of this scammer Budget employee at the YYZ airport. First of all, this guy tried to scam me by saying that i am 40 min early from my rental time so i either have to wait 40 mins or pay an extra day for the rental. I’ve done hundreds of rentals in my life and 40 min is never too early and usually you pay an extra day if you return it past your return date. When I fought back he didn’t like it and HE cancelled my rental fully and told me i wouldnt be able to get the car, and when the 3rd party company where i booked with reached out to them, this guy has been telling them that I did get and was provided the rental car so I couldn’t get the refund. And he does not wear a nametag or provides his name because he plans on scamming tourists all day. Beware of this scammer right here!

We had a vehicle reserved at NextCar, an off airport location. After arriving by shuttle, we witnessed four people ahead of us getting scammed with forced insurance purchases and 8% per day service charges for paying by credit card. We cancelled and reserved with Budget online. When we arrived back at the airport, the staff was extremely professional and friendly without any upselling. The vehicle we actually received was a couple of steps up from the class of vehicle that we had reserved. The vehicle had several small marks and scratches and in the back of our mind, we wondered if we would get hassled about it on return. The drop off was extremely easy without any issues about the existing blemishes. Great experience and we would book with Budget again.
