I visited around lunchtime on Sunday, January 10th, and the male server was unfriendly The young male server, who looked a bit young, was friendly! Sunjji was delicious as always
A great place for cold days. I had the seafood tofu soup and it was boiling when it came to the table. They provide side dishes and if you want more the server will bring you more.
Came for lunch. Ordered the pork bone soup ($16.75) and seafood soon tofu ($15.75). Not a lot of seafood. Good food but pricey compared to other places.
I ate here and the food tasted cold, try, and stale. I was very unimpressed with the quality, especially for the price they charged. I also saw a customer come in and kindly ask to use the washroom, and the 2 waitresses were very quick to refuse him, saying it was for customers only. He said he'll purchase something but really had to go first, and they refused. While I know it is there right to refuse that, I think it's unbecoming of an establishment to refuse washroom use, especially after the customer said he'll buy something. Nobody wants to use a washroom randomly, they do because they have to, and I frankly would rather give my money to an establishment that's kind and welcoming to all versus something different.
I do not recommend going here. There are a lot of other great restaurants in the area.
A perfect place to try some fresh comfort Korean food: a range of soft tofu-based soups and other meals with a choice of beef or seafood is decent enough for a filling lunch or dinner. Budget friendly and quick to serve which makes it a great option for a busy family.
This chain has the best soon tofu I've ever had! The seafood soon tofu i had was delicious and nicely hot. The restaurant was quite full on this Sunday night in Nov 2021, so if you want to be cautious about the number of people you're in a room with, you may want to come here at a non-peak time.
Solid Korean spot for comfort food. We always get their seafood soon tofu here, taste great especially on a chilly day. Quick service with both takeout and dine in. They are pretty spacious too in terms of in door dining and they have a front patio. Parking gets busy on Yonge Street as always.
This place is really good and has been here forever. You can't go wrong picking anything on the menu, everything is delicious and the staff are always very nice!
It’s perfect weather for some soft tofu stew! Generous portions of flavourful soup and the rice was perfectly cooked to maintain its integrity even when dunked into soup. My only qualm was the kimchi/beef/pork stew was a little one-note in terms of flavour. I would highly recommend the seafood stew instead!
Overall tasty food. Nice soft tofu in a flavourful soup. Love the stone pot rice as well. Good and fast service. Had the combination #1 and it's always good.
Service good but ordered the spicy chicken and it was served at room temperature. When informing the wait staff was advised that the chicken was pre-cooked before the sauce was added and the sauce is room temperature. After the chicken was heated with the sauce, it was not spicy and was not very good.
Had the Combo #1 here and it tasted great! If you have a weak stomach though, beware, it might not go down well. I enjoyed my meal here nonetheless though and the atmosphere was nice too! The appetizers were good; I liked their gyoza! Overall, a pretty tasty meal!
As far as comfort food goes, soon tofu and pork bone soup are definitely one of my top choices. Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu has managed to keep their small yet solid menu consistent in terms of quality each time we come, no matter the location. The service is quite speedy, except during the peak hours, and their offerings are decently priced too. Just what we needed!
The soondubu was amazing, I would recommend the kimchi version (try regular spicy, not as hot as one would think). Service was amazing, literally some of the best service I have ever seen. Food was at a good price point for the portion as well. All in all would very much recommend.
Just a quick note to say thank you for the amazing service you provided yesterday. We loved the seafood sondobu. I’m in a service based business as well (real estate), so great service like you provided really sticks out for me. Thanks again, Amy Marvi - 1% commission #paylessagent
This spot is fantastic and spacious, the menu was delicious and the rates were very fair.fast, efficient service and very affable waiters. Highly recommended.
After almost a whole year without Korean food, I finally got my fill tonight! Today was the first day that the province allowed for dine-in. The place was clean, even the stairs down to the washroom in the basement. The staff wore masks, we kept our masks on until the food arrived.
Tonight we were a party of 5 adults and 2 kids. We ordered 5 hot stone pots and even had a bit of leftovers to take home. The side dishes were the standard fare - large bean sprouts, soya sauce beans and kimchi, the kimchi was amazing! Not too spicy, not salty, seasoned just right.
We order the seafood tofu (1 mussel, 2 small shrimps), spicy squid with rice, pork bone soup and combination tofu (beef, shrimp, mussel). The tofu is super smooth and melts in your mouth. My 5yo daughter mashed up the tofu with the hot stone pots purple rice and called it the best dinner ever! Lol. The pork bone soup was piled high, the spicy squid wasn't too spicy and had nice flavours. The price for the pork bone soup is $14 (slightly higher than the average pork bone soup), but you get what you pay for.
There are several locations of Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu, so much sure you give them a try!
I definitely recommend their Kimchi Soon Tofu! Their Kimchi smells good and has a nice taste. It is a salty dish though! The beef dumplings are good too.
Really good tofu soup. Used to be cheap as well. Not any longer. But taste remain unchanged. Stonepot rice comes with any soup order is also a must try.
The Gut appreciates Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu. Hearty, healthy broth with fermented veggies throughout all courses. The Rice is always perfect. Stone Bowl Rice is truly The Best as rice demands that it only be eaten this way. NurungJi is also, The Best. Thank you, Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu we appreciate you!
Very welcoming when we placed our order. Considerate of our food allergies. We had different soups with great flavour! Would definitely recommend this place!
Fantastic food, super friendly staff members, constantly great atmosphere. They charge reasonable prices and the food quality is great. Keep up the good work.
Amazing food! I ordered the soon dubu #3 with beef, pork, and kimchi and it was delicious! The portion size was perfect for me and well worth the price! There is often a line because this spot is so popular so do go earlier!
Food is tasty and reasonably priced! Very friendly staff, they serve the rice out of the stone pot on the spot for you. Every table also gets their own water jug, which is always a plus since we all know how hard it is to get a waiters attention for a refill! Gets busy but worth the wait and just the perfect food on a cold day.
My go-to Korean soup place. Every time I come here, I leave feeling satisfied with the huge portions and good price point. Service is always very quick and attentive. Each soup dish comes with refillable side dishes (kimchi, radish, beans, bean sprouts), egg and rice.
I get tofu is in the name but I can't eat that much tofu in one sitting. They use soft tofu also which texturally might be odd the some western hem people. That said the food tastes great. Just not for me
Delicious heart warming good that's amazing for cold weather. They only have 9 items on the menu, but they're all amszing, so simply order the one that suits your taste.
Amazing Korean soon tofu dishes. Comes with 5 Korean side-dishes. They serve purple rice which was said to be an healthier option than white rice. Good customer service. Beef and dumplings soon tofu is my favourite.
Flavorful soup filled with many toppings not just tofu. Choice is yours to adjust the spice levels. Both is flavorful and the bowls of soon tofu are filling for $15. Staff are proficient in English and Korean so ordering shouldn't be an issue. Free parking is limited in the rear of the building. Paid parking is also available on the street and local Green P lots.
The food is good. Service is good. I passed by tonite and I saw them not people inside as they usually r full. We went in. The variety is not many.but it’s tasty.
Fresh tofu in a bubbling stone bowl with purple rice and your choice of spice level and accompaniment (seafood, dumplings etc). Yum! They also pour water in your rice crust for a homey rice "soup"
Giving the bill without any notice on the table when they are closing the restaurant. Give back the change on top of the food that I was eating. It was a Young kid with glasses. Won’t come back again anymore.
