Doi Long - This final dish is something I haven't seen even in Vietnam, which is a bed of beautiful and fresh Vietnamese coriander, and herbs, lime, chilli peppers and fermented fish sauce that all support the organ stuffed sausages, cut into bite sized pieces. Surprisingly clean tasting and brightened drastically with the accoutrements.
Very unprofessional staffs with poor service. Even foods are not good based on price. They are careless about serving foods and don’t care about customer’s satisfaction.
All the time you order, they just begin to cook your order when the driver reaches the restaurant all the time, if you order any drink, they change your drink without your permission and put a coke, 2 times it’s happening to me on this restaurant.
Best pho in toronto.they craft an amazing, flavourful broth with the perfect portion size and delicious toppings, all of which is so hard to find these days.also, the pho is so cheap so amazing value!
Make sure you check your receipt, they will give you an up charge without you knowing. Got me during the first visit but wanted to give them, the benefit of the doubt. Second visit, they try to pull the same thing again. Overall would not recommend
I eat here weekly. The pho is simple, tasty and consistent. I have never had a bad bowl here. If you’re exploring China town and want to ensure you’re getting a decent bowl of pho, come here! Try the Ba La Lot, it’s a hard dish to find in Toronto and they serve it here:)
I work for a fine dining restaurant and this is maybe my favorite restaurant in the city. For quality and freshness of Ingridents at a great price point, this is one of Toronto's best.
I came here with my coworkers because the pho shop next door was closed and we really wanted pho.
The soup was quite bland, it didn't carry a lot of flavor and you could tell that it was watered down. One of my coworkers got the chicken with rice and it did not taste fresh. Overall, that dish was quite dry and lacked flavor.
The service was alright and the sprouts plate was served generously. On the plus side, the place was very clean.
I visited this place couple of weeks ago, the staff members were really kind and I liked their hospitality and courtesy that I received from the Vietnamese family that runs this business of fast-food restaurant. Very delicious and mouth watering Vermicelli Noodles, I ate with my friend. My go to place will be here from now on. Thank you to all you guys for your kindness and caring services. Since post-COVID 19, I have never seen any restaurant that does amazing job in serving food. Their cost is quite affordable. I recommend this restaurant for sure for take-out, dine-in or delivery.
I have been in this restaurant for dinner about 5 times and I have ordered take out 3 times.
In the last 2 dine in visits I was left a little skeptical. First of all, there is not a legitimate receipt, they just write down what do you owe. Okay, I don't really care about that. What I do care is that they overcharge. Their menu has prices written on but they do not reflect the actual "receipt". I might be going back once more just to verify my sayings. I just cannot grasp the idea of being cheated like that. It's just shameful. My girlfriend gave them tip and paid in cash in order to help them and now she feels ripped off.
Beware of this restaurant. Check your bill they will deliberately overcharge you! They use a lot of msg.you will be very thirsty the whole day after your meal!
Good service, a small place to have Vietnamese meals. Broth was good, not too salted. However the amount of meats were less than expected compared to other places and the price
Not my favourite place in Chinatown. I had the tofu pho and the tofu was not good. Most tofu soups I've had have cooked the tofu a bit, this soup was just large chunks of uncooked tofu and was not tasty. Decent place for the prices and friendly service, but otherwise I won't go back again.
This would never be my first choice as I'm Vietnamese and know my food. But was extremely hungry from walking around so we chose here cause its the closest. I ordered the bamboo duck noodle soup and literally had 4 pieces of meat and it was the toughest meat I've ever eaten, over cooked and the pieces were chopped so sloppy that they weren't even parted. The broth was plain. Service ok but if I'm going to pay for good taste. This is a no. I don't recommend it.
Edit: Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but was disappointed. I was given an arbitrary number at checkout, I asked for a breakdown and the (owner, I guess?) wrote down numbers that were higher than menu prices. Leaving my original review below for reference, but I would never step in here to give them money again.
Nothing innately “wrong” about the place, but the XL large pho was just a big bowl with lots of soup. The amount of actual noodle and meat was less than what I would expect from a Small elsewhere. The sriracha also seems watered down, if that puts things into perspective. Staff are friendly though, but probably not for you if you’re hungry.
Great family run Vietnamese Restaurant in Chinatown. I always get the bun (vermicelli) and Sour sop milkshake, it never disappoints. Prices are fair too
Ate on the patio this Sunday evening - may have been our group’s fault for ordering less common items from the menu but the broth quality was below average… portions were on the average side. Gf got the bun rieu which seemed like they used a instant flavoring pack, and broth was also not flavorful and overly sweet. Will likely not be returning
Visited with 3 other friends during covid and they were very accommodating with the table arrangements. They didn't have any available when we showed up but they swiftly prepared a table for us. Ambiance was great and service was njce too. Food was fine and price was ok, not amazing but the ambiance was absolutely amazing. Would recommend for a casual eat.
Went here to try their Durian shake tonight. The flavours were diluted and the ice were bigger than normal. After a while, I realized that I was crunching a bit too hard so I spat a piece out to realize it was plastic shards. They also got stuck in my teeth. Very disappointed since the waitress also decided to tip herself, when she gave me my change.
P.s. They do not serve durian shake here. It is instant sugar powder. Not worth the price.
Just had takeout from here and it was delicious! Highly recommend the beef sate noodle soup (#117) and the Vietnamese style jumbo shrimp (#621). Can't believe that I've been walking by this hidden gem for years, looking forward to trying more of the menu!
I’m regular here! Even recent take out tasted so good that I wanna go back! Thanks to lady who has been running her business consistently throughout years & in pandemic. COVID GO AWAY: (
Ive been here twice now & every time the food is super tasty and authentic. The orders take a little while because they are being made fresh, so the wait is not an issue at all. The pho broth is soooo tasty, not oily. The spring rolls are very good and fried fresh. I appreciate the time & effort they put into each order. They are also right beside a delicious chinese buns place:) thanks so much for the great food during this wild time!
We came here on a whim for an early lunch on a Saturday. The interior looked good and we were kindly welcomed so we decided to order. Boy, were we happy we did. Everything we ordered was totally delicious and made with fresh ingredients. The spring rolls were incredible, and you MUST try their mango milkshakes! Highly recommended for a casual meal at reasonable prices. Very impressed!
This place was nice! The service was incredibly fast, the interior was clean and attractive, and it smelled AMAZING. Unlike a lot of pho places, this one had vegetarian options (I believe there were two: a veggie noodle soup, and a tofu noodle soup. I had the veggie noodle soup and it came with tofu as well, so I feel like I got the best of both worlds!) Sadly, this didn't knock out Pho Tien Thanh as my favourite pho place, but it was really decent and I'd definitely go back.
Good Vietnamese cuisine with good portions. At first the rices dishes may look a little smaller than other Vietnamese restaurants, but in reality no one should eat ginormous meal every time. The price is very good and the service is very friendly. The phở soups have great depth of flavor to them. Ooooh there is an Easter egg in one of the picture in the menu! I won't say what it is because I don't want to spoil your fun!
The food here is filling and well priced but the taste is quite average. The location isn't very well kept but very convenient. Service speed is rather quick as well so a good place for a short stop.
I was already quite biased and skeptical about coming here for dinner as I am a regular customer at the Pho Xe Lua right beside this restaurant. And to my surprise, my skepticism was right.
For one, when we enetered into this restaurant, there was no pho aroma (for those of you who are big pho advocates like I am, you know this is a big deal). Secondly, there were flying ants falling from the ceiling above my table; nearly 5-8 ants fell from above and was crawling everywhere on my table. Not only that, there were dead bugs all dried up and stuck to the spoons which they provide on the side of the table. Having a phobia for bugs, I was already getting ready to up-and-leave this place. The only reason I came here was because I took my aunt out for dinner and she has chronic back issues which restricted her from going up the stairs to Pho Xe Lua.
Anywho, the restaurant was fairly empty and had probably 2 or 3 tables occupied, which made me wonder why it took nearly 25 minutes to prepare my food. You would think that because food preparation took up such a large portion of the time that it would be an exceptional bowl of pho, right?
Wrong. We ordered a pho, bun bo hue, and bun. The pho tasted like hot brown sugary water with absolutely NO pho taste to it at all. The bun bo hue was exactly the same; tasteless and way too sweet (and my dad is a diabetic). The portions for my pho was decent, but the noodles for both the bun bo hue and bun was a joke. I would say “you pay for what you get”, but I paid way more than a regular pho place would charge, and did NOT get what I paid for.
Not only that, the bill came out to be more expensive than the menu displayed. The workers tried to be slick with the bill by adding a couple dollars extra thinking we won’t notice (which we did, but we just didn’t bring it to the manager’s attention because we didn’t want to cause a scene).
Anyways, if you guys like restaurants invested with flying ant’s, overtly-sweet soups with no aroma and over charged bills, I would recommend coming to this pho restaurant!
I have been here for many years. The food, either breakfast or lunch, is always great. Mostly so you won't be hungry. Cheerful atmosphere and great friendly staff. On weekends, it can be very crowded, but they always serve extremely well.
Food was edible but lacked flavour. The spicy pork was bland. The pho broth was okay but kind of oily. The mango shake, while I appreciate that it likely had real mango in it, tasted like sugar ice with small strips of mango fiber. The old menu prices were covered with white out and filled with with written numbers, a dollar more than before. This place isn't worth it IMO.
I just finished eating here and I asked for no cilantro. Everyone who hates cilantro knows that it is the worst taste. It can ruin a meal and an afternoon lol. There was cilantro int the bottom and I ate it. My third bite. I told them i could eat anything else. Theu made me pay for it still! Brutal!
Went here a couple of times and in hope that the service would be better.
Previously went here and the lady charged us extra and I had to open the menu to argue with her the price difference (make sure to look at the bill carefully).
Another time, the menus had different prices as it was corrected, but not all menus were corrected properly and it was difficult to explain that there was price differences.
Service is horrible. Every time we go, I always ask for no cilantro/ coriander and there is always inside my pho! So I have to manually pick it out. When we asked for extra noodle when we were ordering, it literally looked like regular order and the young teen boy went to check the order without confirming with the kitchen said yes it’s extra.
We go once in awhile because we like the pho, but after this time, it’s most likely the last time we are going there.
I have been going to Bun Saigon for over 20 years I love this place! Amazing authentic Vietnamese food, everything on the menu is a great! Love always Patricia ️️️
Soup: too sweet, can’t taste any other flavor;beef balls taste like processed food, not home made; raw beef is dry and flavorless, cannot tell if it’s beef or pork
I’m very impressed by the true taste of Vietnamese food here. I have never imagined that I can find the real decent of Vietnamese food here. The service is awesome, too.
We originally wanted to go to Xe Lua next door, but it was closed for renovations until the 17th. On a whim, we went here instead.
I got the grilled chicken with rice. Unlike other Viet places, the dish didn't come with any fried egg, steamed egg, or shredded pork, which would have added a lot of variety and flavour to the dish. Upon taking a bite of the chicken, I immediately noticed something was off. It had a really weird texture, sort of like meat that haven't been cooked properly all the way through. Overall, the chicken was super flavourless, as was the accompanying fish sauce. The rice was on the mushy side and could have been cooked for a bit more as well. I honestly couldn't eat more than 5 or 6 bites.
We also got a vermicelli bowl (#216) and that wasn't great either. The fried spring rolls had a weird sour tang while the sausage had an almost pungent aftertaste that tasted stale and out of date. But hey, at least the tea was good?
Both of us felt a bit nauseous after leaving the restaurant. Definitely not a place I'd recommend for Vietnamese food.
