Burlington Camera and Digital

I visited your store earlier today with the intent of getting two medium-format negatives scanned at a high resolution. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory.
The young customer service representative assisting me seemed to have a very limited understanding of photography and scanning resolutions. He informed me that the resolution for my negatives would be 2000px in the long direction. As someone who has been involved in the photography and printing industry for over two decades, I was taken aback by this inadequate specification for what was supposed to be a "high resolution" scan.
When I attempted to clarify the inadequacy of this resolution, especially for medium-format negatives, the representative seemed not only unresponsive but visibly offended. Instead of engaging in a meaningful dialogue, he left to assist another customer without so much as an explanation or a word of parting.
To mitigate the situation, someone whom I presume to be the owner stepped in. Regrettably, instead of addressing the problem and taking the opportunity to educate his staff, he chose to take offense when I expressed my concerns about the representative’s lack of expertise and unprofessional demeanour. The owner then made the perplexing decision to refuse my business.
It is disheartening to see a specialized store like yours have team members with such a limited understanding of key industry concepts. Even more troubling is the ownership's decision to stand by an employee's clear gaps in knowledge and unprofessional conduct instead of addressing the issue constructively.
Given these circumstances, I cannot recommend your services and will not be returning for future business.

I have been using Downtown Camera for a few years now. Joan and staff have helped me setup my own B&W development supplies I would need for home. I Have printed very important images for our family over the past few years with great results. Staff is friendly and always willing to help.

The staff was friendly. We didn't quite receive the quality we were hoping for, and the service took longer than anticipated. But overall, good quality.

This is a gem of a store and the owners couldn't be more friendly and helpful. In 15 minutes, they fully educated me on the use of my old slide projector and we have had a wonderful afternoon showing them to my family, with many dating back 50 years. Thank-you so much!

I was very excited to use a local business to access 20+ year old images that I found recently. I called last week and got a quote of "a few dollars a role" to digitize processed film (APS which is different than traditional 35mm). Went in about 20 minutes ago with 17 rolls and the invoice was close to $300 - not at all what I’d been quoted! I was super shocked but definitely calm.

I told the guy I'd spoken with a woman last week who had given me a much lower estimate (I was barely able to get the words out before a horrible older lady came over and was so unbelievably rude.accused me of lying). She said they would never give "a few dollars" as a quote, it would be exact. To which I replied, yes you told me 35mm was $2 per frame up to 25, then $1 per frame, and it drops to 69 cents if I get 100+ done and that preprocessed APS was much less expensive as APS is super easy to digitize because they can just run it through a machine quickly so the cost wasn't high.

I reinterated that to woman at the counter (I don’t know if she is the same woman I spoke with on the phone) and she kept talking to me like I was a child (I’m almost 40!), saying no one there would ever say what I claimed (mind you all of the other quotes were right and I have my notebook with the details written down) and that she was “sorry if I misunderstood”. I was hardly able to get a word in as she continued talking over me.

I was (and still am!) really upset. She was condescending and nasty - terrible customer service. I can’t speak to the actual services, but that was a really awful first (and only) trip to the store.

Maybe I'm not important in terms of business but that experience was awful.would never recommend the store (although the original guy I spoke with was very lovely and helpful when I first went in). I cannot give my money to a business that talks down to potential customers.

Great selection of cameras and friendly staff. Will return for sure for my future purchases.

Came to Burlington camera to get my son’s passport picture done, he is 5 months and can’t get over how seamless it was. Rick assisted us and was amazing, knew how to hold baby just right and got the best (and cutest) pictures of my little one. He was extremely knowledgeable and personable, would highly recommend to get passport pictures done by him if you need them, especially for your little one. Thanks Rick!

Definitely not professional - I wouldn't recommend this place at all! Family owned business and they are all rude and over charge. Get your pictures done at Henry's on Brant Street. The owner admitted to having fake reviews!

Super fantastic camera store! I can't recommend it enough. I often get photos printed and developed here.
Today, I came in with my dad's old broken camera hoping it could be repaired, they were honest and told me it was unfixable. Rick helped me find a similar camera and took the time to teach me how to load film and use the camera (thanks so much, Rick!). I live in Toronto and don't usually shop in Burlington, but all my film photographer friends down that way have been recommending Burlington Camera. So I found myself in the area the other day and popped in for a visit for the first time.

I have to say, it's definitely a film photographer's mecca. And, as a camera collector, I was extremely impressed with both their vintage inventory and display cameras.

On top of that, Rich and Joan are super friendly and as well-informed on everything photography-related as anyone could possibly be.

I'll definitely be back.

What an awesome gem of a shop!
I've recently gotten back into film photography after shooting digital for years, and I was happy to see there was a place to go for all of my analog needs outside of Toronto since we live in the Halton Region.

My pleasant surprise however, was the sweet collection of vintage items & collectibles, AND the immense amount of knowledge & experience within this shop's walls.
Went to drop off some test-film, and stayed for almost an hour looking around & checking out the vintage cameras, as well as getting some time with Joan and co.sharing priceless wisdom, and even showing us some fun cameras that were truly unique.
Funnily enough, even though I was just there for film - I completed my trip with new knowledge, and another vintage (functioning) camera to add to a newly developing collection.

No exaggeration here: if you have camera questions, film needs, or just want to geek out while shopping and be exposed to staff who know what they're talking about - this place should be at the top of your list.
I hope it's around for a long time, because shops like this need to exist.

Today I visited this great family run business for an upgrade in equipment. I was transitioning from DSLR to Mirrorless and was both impressed with knowledge of equipment and taking the time to answer all my questions about camera functionality and differences between the 2 manufacturers I was considering. In the end I was able to make a confident choice in camera model that was best suited to my professional needs and creative focus towards photography and video. Thanks to Joan I am the proud new owner of a Nikon Z6 ii and new lens to add to my Nikon family.

Burlington Camera has always been a store that treats the customer properly. Excellent selection of film developing accessories and used cameras.

Went in to get immigration photo taken. Polite, curious and professional service that was done right the first time. Seem to have an extensive inventory of photographic equipment and other services.

Fantastic shop for anyone looking for camera gear or question. The owner was so incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. She spent lots of time with me answering questions and giving me advice and suggestions even knowing I wasnt ready to purchase for a few weeks. Great prices on used gear as well.

Over the years, I have purchased a number of items, many of them odd ones I could not easily find elsewhere, especially used medium and large format cameras, lenses, and accessories.
One of the few camera stores remaining that still sell darkroom equipment and supplies, including used enlargers, and paper, chemistry, and film.
The store is a place I enjoy visiting and seeing what they have on offer and of course seeing all the old film cameras on display. The staff are great, although most times I deal with Joan.
The real test in any situation however is when things go wrong. I just recently purchased a mirror-less camera body that seems to be more computer than camera. Unfortunately, there was an issue between the firmware on the camera and the specifications of the memory card. The solution proposed by Nikon was not doable with what bits I had. When I called Joan, rather than passing me off to Nikon, she took it upon herself to address it. She had the knowledge and bits to resolve the situation and took care of it for me.

Fantastic store with amazing vintage gear, I walked in looking for a rope strap for my Hasselblad and they had an original brand new Hasselblad strap for cheaper than eBay. Great film selection and check out the basement for the best price on used gear

I just found this gem of a place a few weeks ago and will be a returning customer. Staff is super knowledgable and friendly and was able to answer any questions about film camera's that I had. I brought in some film to get developed and it was ready in two days! I have a camera store in Haldimand where I live but I choose to drive the 30 minutes to Burlington Camera because of the exceptional service. BC is officially my new go to camera shop!

By far one of the Best Camera shop's around, been in sevice for many many years, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, Joan is the best person to talk to about your camera need's and more! Best selection of used camera equipment if your looking for that certain thing, you will not be disappointed shopping here!

This place is amazing as they clicked my baby’s picture for passport in less than 10 mins. Another 5 mins to print those pictures. No wait time. Everything was very very smooth. Loved my experience here. They also gave me a digital copy of the photo for free.

I had an old audio cassette for 40 years ago. They converted it into high quality digital file. Being able to hear the voices on that tape was quite something. I am grateful for them.

Burlington Camera and Digital did an amazing job on my prints. The job was completed within hours of ordering and looked incredible. All staff members were wearing masks and maintained distance when I enetered. It was an all around positive experince. I will be returning in the future.

Burlington Camera and Digital is a fantastic small business. I live in the US now and was planning to do a birthday video for one of my sisters. Normally another sibling would have physically brought photos for me to scan when they usually visit in March. Due to the border closure however I needed a Plan B.
They scanned dozens of images and once I was done with the video file, burned it onto DVDs so that my family could pick it up from them. This saved me untold hours of scanning as well as the hassle of shipping the DVD across the border by Fed Ex etc. Their prices are also reasonable.
They were very friendly and provided excellent service. I plan to use them again!
