I never imagined I'd write a review for a dental office, but after my experience at By The Lake Ajax I feel compelled to share my story. Like many, the thought of visiting the dentist filled me with anxiety however, the moment I met Dr. Afson I knew this experience would be different.

The admin staff were extremely polite and friendly but it was the dental team that transformed my view of dental care. Both Dr. Afson and the Hygienist Valeria were a breath of fresh air - by their empathetic approach, asking about my fears without judgement, taking the time to explain each step of the process, while also ensuring I felt informed and in control. All these things were critical to my experience.

The care I received was not just professional but also deeply compassionate. The gentle touch during my treatment, frequent checks to ensure I was comfortable and reassuring words made a world of difference. I was honestly amazed at how a potentially nerve-wracking experience can actually be tuned into a surprisingly pleasant one.

To anyone who has ever felt apprehensive about visiting the dentist, I cannot recommend By The Lake Dental Ajax enough, they are a team that truly cares about your well-being, both dental and emotional. Went to Dr. Afson at By the Lake Dental was very impressed she is very kind and does great work All the people who work there are very nice. Don't hesitate to go there.

Very sadly my previous dentist had to retire due to medical reasons. I had gone there my entire life. I decided to try a new dentist closer to home since my old dentist retired and sold their practice. The good news here is that I have found a lovely new office in By the Lake Dental. I have visited twice so far and both visits were very impressive. The facility itself is very spacious, new and updated interior. The staff is very good at wearing a lot of PPE and doing things very cleanly which makes you feel very safe. The technology they have I have never even seen before. They had so many fancy tools to scan your entire mouth, such as a tool that created a 3D image of your entire mouth that they could manipulate on the computer screen. The dentist also diagnosed an issue with my enamel that I never knew I had, which explains the extreme sensitivity of my teeth. I may have had the condition my entire life but am only finding out now thanks to the talented team here. I am very thankful for their expert knowledge and great services. The chair even has a gentle back massage on it to help calm you during a stressful dental procedure. Very impressive all around, I recommend trying them out!

Very unaccountable practice. My wife booked an appointment due to a tooth pain they said they fixed already for morning time. When she showed up they were still closed!

No communication that we are late opening today or something happened. Just didn't show up. Very unprofessional and not easy for us to take time off from work and then be stood up by this Dental office.

I usually am afraid of going to the dentist. This place is very different from what I’m used to. Very friendly staff and sweet dentist. I told her I was afraid and she made me feel very comfortable and went through what she is doing. I’ve never had a better experience!

Horrible experience, spent 2 hours doing all the initial X-rays, & spent over $400 on it, only to be left on read when requested a cleanup appointment. So disappointed as I was excited to find a reliable and permanent dentist office.

The dentists and hygienists are very thorough and friendly.

They tried to charge me a $50 fee with no real explanation. Couldn’t print a bill so I could clarify myself. After I refused they resent it, fees disappeared. Probably best to confirm with you insurance provider, before you pay out of pocket. Martha the hygienist is amazing!

By The Lake Dental is an amazing dental office that provides superlative services. Dr. Patricia Khamis-Silva and all her staff is highly professional and at the same time very approachable. I very much appreciate the combination of knowledge, technology and genuine caring.
It is by far the most positive dental experience I have ever encountered.

My experience at this office was unpleasant and I regret ever stepping in. The clerical staff are friendly and efficient. The dental hygienist was inexperienced and kept making mistakes and the dentist was clearly irritated at her, it made me uncomfortable. This would not have deterred me from this place though. My biggest issue came when I got fitted for a night guard for my clenching. I was clenching so much that I fractured my crown (the tooth beside my two front teeth). The dentist fitted me for a night guard for my top teeth which caused even more pressure on my front crowns from clenching and broke my front tooth! I wish they would have just used some common sense and fitted me for a night guard for my bottom teeth instead because then there wouldn’t have been that added pressure on my front crowns. It’s going to cost me $1500 out of all of pocket now to fix their mistake.

When you go for an Ortho consult for an 11 year old and the Dentist tries desperately to sell you on Invisalign, you know you're in the wrong place. I felt like I was being sold a time share in Florida. When I asked about traditional braces we were given horror stories of needing surgery to remove the braces from the gums, etc. We were then sent into another room to see how wonderful Invisalign is. No mention of regular braces. I asked for more details on both Ortho choices and was told I had to see another dentist for that. They refused to make the appt with the other dr and admin refused to give me the financial breakdown of the invisalign unless I paid the $500 deposit. How is someone supposed to make an educated and informed decision without all the information. I was shocked at how awful this experience was. We had been clients for 2 years but that was our absolute last visit. I called 3 other dentists and was given vastly different information from what I received here. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible.

Wheelchair Accessible Entrance, Nice & clean location, wonderful environment, able to close your eyes & feel comfortable. Ask for Cassandra amazing hygienist, with her name on the wall demonstrating longevity within the company.

A great family dentist especially for young kids! They have tv screens to help kids relax and add personal touches to their take away bags. Very clean and up to date technology.

I have been going to this location for about 10y now. They are awesome, I have my cleaning done every 6 months and I even had all my 4 my wisdom tooth removed at once without any issues whatsoever. Would absolutely recommend it to anyone who's looking for a great dental office in Ajax!

Hard to feel safe anywhere during a pandemic but this Dental office does everything to make you feel comfortable.

The hours, the friendliness of the staff, the expertise of the dentists, hygienists - and their patience with my kids! This is a great dental office for the whole family!

I love Dr. Patricia Khamis-Silva and her staff. They found a dark spot in my jaw with their panoramic xray machine that save my life. After 7 surgeries and months of IV antibiotics, I recovered because of her find and great referral to a great Surgeon.

The office environment is lovely and she has my favourite massage chairs. Her team is friendly, and professional.

By The Lake Dental is by far the best experience I've ever had going to the dentist. The hygienists and dentist take their time with you and go over how you can improve your dental care. During this time, the receptionist are following all protocols according to our government and public health. They screen before you come in and again when you come in. They intake their patients by making sure the waiting area is cleared before letting another individual in. Also the rooms are well sanitized and every room is equipped with a dehumidifier. By the Lake Dental really care about their patients and the care they give to their patients. I am 100% satisfied with their service.

You won't be disappointed! Everyone in this office is professional and sweet and kind. I am terrified of going to the dentist and they are amazing with me! My granddaughter goes here as well and loves her dentist and actually looks forward to getting her teeth cleaned. I would recommend (and have) this office 100%

I cant say enough about the level of care coming out of this dental office. From the second you walk in the door, there's a level of calm and at ease. I don't mind admitting that I'm a coward when it comes to getting dental care done. But I wouldn't go anywhere else.

The entire crew is fantastic and treats us like family. Every treatment is exceptional and free of anxiety. By far the best teeth cleaning experience. They take the time to teach you how to brush/floss better and target areas you might be missing. My oral health has improved greatly since coming to By The Lake Dental.
