Not quite what I expected. The core is quite small and not really like a market. However, if you think of it like an area, there are many interesting shops and lots of food options around.
Byward market is obviously the heart of Ottawa many different eateries and bakeries all sorts a little delicatessants yeah fantastic really a really cool place to go especially when you’re visiting but there’s a few things that I wanted to mention to that need to be worked on especially in the Biward market certain areas especially on York Street where it’s less than pedestrian friendly on either side of York Street there is pedestrian signs but very few people that actually take notice of them And I think what needs to go on is more as much as I don’t like them those bumps along the way I think they should be all the way around and that way at least it’ll limit people from zipping through after the couple bumps that are there it’s dangerous I’d be nice people to walk around freely in the Byward Market without having to worry about are they going to stop
This is an amazing historic market in Ottawa that is filled with a wide variety of businesses. It has great pubs, restaufants and cafes, souvenir shops, bakeries and more. The market has something for both licals and tourists, and is close to the O Train, Rideau Centre and Parliament Hill
Nice little market with different stands. You get something from different countries around the world, a lot from Asia, but from America. Be it just coffee and cake or bread that you like or continue to a good stand that offers juices and smoothies, right up to the main courses. Everything looks delicious and tasty and it is.
Great place to visit if you live in Ottawa or it is your first time coming to visit. Full or outdoor events when the weather permits. Food stands and shops to walk around. Plus surrounded by bars and restaurants. Great spot to get some fresh air and a bite!
I like Byward Market, it's a small version of the Toronto Distillery District with restaurants, small booths, indoor/outdoor areas. Close to Rideau Mall. Walking distance from hotels and inns depending on where you stay.
On trouve pratiquement de tout à tout les prix mais il faut que vous sachiez vous débrouillez en anglais car c'est quand même à Ottawa ou Awatta en huron
Love walking around.always stop at the Tea Shop.many good restaurants to choose from. Had breakfast at Zak's.very good. Delicious cupcakes next door. Many places to visit on the market. Enjoy
You can easily spend 4-5 hours here walking around the vendors and stores. Not to mention all the places you can grab a bite to eat or a cold drink. Once the market closes the homeless do take over the chairs/streets so you're better off moving along as it doesn't feel safe.
This is a must see if you're ever in ottowa. I love the vibe, the energy and the overall atmosphere. There are many shops, restaurants and bars to visit. This is the type of place that there's something for everyone. Highly recommended!
Beautiful and peaceful place. You can find tons of different kinds of food, there is an Ottawa sign to take pictures with, parking places outside and inside too. Fish, meat, bread, icecream, name it they have them!
It is Ottawa's tourist area. You can buy local grow vegetables And flowers for your garden. But as year goes by, there are less and less vendor sell local vegetables. To me it is not a farmer market now. It is just an area for tourist only
Not my favourite place in Ottawa, though all the tourists and visitors love it. Plenty of restaurants and shopping to be done, so if you enjoy shopping, you'll like it. If you're looking for parks and to be closer to nature, walk up to Major's Hill park about 5 minutes away. The famous beaver tail stall is right at the square, a must-try for everyone, visitors and locals alike.
European vibes (on the English end) and plenty of decent places to visit for every type of interest. Surrounded by a National Gallery and Parliament on one side, they have shops that carry various doohickeys, and plenty of fish and chip spots to wet your whistle, or you can pick up some gluten-free goods or handmade chocolate! Beware the McDonald's close by tho.
Lots of merchandise and lots of activities going on here. Restaurants are very down to the earth with decent prices and nice foods, shops are everywhere for you to choose! Love this place!
I love the byward market. There's a little bit of everything for everyone. Food is great just about everywhere and its much more laid back than Toronto.
One can browse from indoors all the little vendors of items. However most vendors are food stands and little restaurants, plus the chocolatier and the French bakery/deli. You have to visit the square if you come to the Market.
MUST visit at this place! If you have lived in Ottawa all your life then you know that the ByWard Market is Beautiful the BEST place for hanging out for the night for shopping etc.
Very busy with shoppers and tourists. Street parking is hard to find but garage parking is available nearby. The market has an interesting variety of shops and restaurants.
