Recently purchased some items on the online store but it takes forever as it still has not arrived even though there was a delivery date guarantee. Everything seems to ships from either Calgary or Winnipeg. So if you need something ASAP, don’t hold your breath with the online store.

I don’t need to say anything here. We all know this place is heaven. The staff always have a smile. I’m sure they aren’t all happy but they sure put on a great performance if they aren’t.

Purchased an e gift card and it still hasn't been delivered to the recipient, it's been 3 days since it was supposed to be delivered. No real answer from the company and still waiting. This person can't even use it for boxing day sales. Very disappointing.

Oh man, they were fantastic. Found a deal online on camo pants but it said call and double check so they found my size and colour and only had one left.

They held it at customer service. I interacted with the receptionist, the closing girl, and then in store was guided to customer service by a fellow and change rooms by a clerk and camo corner by the girl that unlocked the fitting room and in camo corner another worker asked f I needed any help.

Picked up a long sleeve too. Then when leaving the cashier was friendly and chatted a little without holding up the line which went pretty fast. Over all best shopping experience. Fantastic staff and even good prices on awesome merchandise.

Although I looked at some shirts that were over $100 and they had really pricey stuff too but I was just there for the cheapo clearance stuff. I know where I will be shopping when my ship comes in.

We were there Saturday and it was super busy but the young man in the bow hunting section took the time to outfit my daughter with all the appropriate gear. I really appreciate the outstanding service I got at your store.

We had a great time visiting with out 4 year old granddaughter. She got to choose her own tackle box and net.

She also got to pick out a plaid camping blanket with stuffed puppy.

Sharing times like this make the outdoors so much fun.

Very clean store! I got my picture taken with Santa! The prices are amazing! The staff is extremely friendly and awesome! I'm definitely coming back! The store is accessible to everyone and other stores should learn from here.

Would love to give it more stars but despite a good selection it can be very hard to get help and prices are high unless an item is on sale. Online orders for pickup at the store require patience. You need to find someone at customer service. They then ask someone (if anyone is available) to go get the item from the back of the store. Then they need to fill out a form by hand with all the details for you to sign. Surely in the 21st century they could scan or do this electronically.
When you can find someone though they are helpful and polite

My friend has been a longtime customer at Cabela's, until he experienced racism from one of the cashiers just recently. He was refused service for no given reason, but then the cashier goes to serve the next person behind him in line who happens to be white without a problem. Disgusting that in 2021 minorities are treated this poorly. Will never return.

A good store for everyday outdoor items. What I strongly dislike is the lack of choice in firearms and ammo. It's fine if you want average guns in pedestrian calibers like 30-06 and. 308 but forget seeing a full range of product offerings from the major manufacturers. Looking for ammo for your. 280 Rem, 300 Savage, or. 260 Rem? Forget it! I talked to a bearded dude in the firearms department and he thought I was BSing him when I asked if they had ammo for those calibers. He then proceeded to list off all the calibers he owned which was the most humdrum list of boring calibers ever. This guy thought. 270 Win and his 45/70 were really exotic! Where do they hire these people? The fishing department isn't any better. It's mostly kids who clearly don't fish. Every visit makes me miss LeBaron and Laurentian Trading Post even more. There was one exception; a wonderful gentleman in Archery who sold my son his first compound bow, set it all up, and even gave him a quick lesson on their range. That man was a gem. There are some very good people in Customer Service, as well, which is great as I try to do all my Cabelas shopping online and order it for in-store pickup. Too depressing to wander around the store and talk to staff who might as well be working in a grocery store for all they know about the outdoors

Brought my bow in to be serviced. The technician at cabelas bent over backwards to help me. He dug threw containers of spare parts for half an hour to service my bow. Knowledgeable. Friendly. Helpful are words to describe cabelas employees. Only draw back It's so far out of town.

If I could give 6 stars out of 5 I would. I love this store. The prices are very good, lots (and I mean LOTS) of gear. Hunting, fishing, camping, you should be able to find out here.

The store is pretty big, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They are happy to help out with questions (or at least everyone was helpful while I was there)

I will definitely be back here!

I waited 2 years to go here and drove 2 hrs too be majorly let down. I went there for fishing gear, rods reels and lures.
Unless you want their own brand don't waste time driving there. The shelves were empty. The prices they have on clothing etc are bit cheaper them other places but I will never step foot in one again. What they advertise I'm website and actually have in store is night and day

We came on sunday to buy new rods and reels my wife and I. We had an amazing customer serice from A to Z by Jesse. We fish a couple times a year and are far from being pro. Jesse understood our needs and helped us to find the right gear (rods, reels, lines) and installed everything so we would be ready. Great pieces of advises on both the gear to buy and technics: He was so knowlageable, kind and professionnal. The store is well presented adn the choice is amazing!

I visited Cabella’s for the first and last time to purchase a tent to attach to my SUV and to get a big self inflating mattress for the back. The one sales person in the camping section had another customer so I waited and waited nearby. After 20 minutes the other customers were done but even though it was obvious that I was waiting for help she just hung around chatting. It’s an impressive store to be sure. They have loads of great gear but if they can’t provide basic customer attention I’ll find what I need elsewhere.

Getting more and more of a tourist destination to buy clothing and souvenirs and less about hunting and fishing. Twice now we've made the hour trip to not have any of the fishing lures in stock we were looking for.

Outdoor, hunting and fishing mega store that offers a large variety of items for all kinds of sporting experience. There are canoes for sale, fishing rods, fishing and hunting gears and lots of bells and whistles. Ian, a store employee, provided excellent service, showing a lot of patience in answering questions, and offering recommendations based on questions that were asked of him. The store also features stuffed or momie animals, for which the resemblance with live animal is striking.

Great store with a wide variety of merchandise, decent prices and operation hour times. Customer service needs to be revamped though. Call me spoiled but when I usually call customer service at any other store and ask for a product before having to travel to the store they do more. Their website is not accurately updated daily like the site claims. Things like putting you on hold till someone is able to help or physically going to look for the item their selves are not a practice at this store. I called twice between an hours time only to be told (twice) that part of the store was busy today and the option was to leave a message for a call back. I left a message, they never called back! Which I dont understand because upon traveling the 45mins it takes me to get there, I found out what I needed to know under 5mins. The department I needed information from was a 45 second walk from the customer service desk and it was not busy. So ridiculous! They didnt even have what I was looking for. What a waste of gas. Do better Cabela's

Nice store, layout and selection. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable. They’ve looked up size items for me in footwear a few times. Clothing seems pricey. Love the fact that we’ll behaved dogs are permitted and never an issue. We’ve been doing a timestamp with the moose since Aspen was 12 weeks old!

I dont think worst service os possible, visited 3 times, cant get help, nothing is really that well organized to shop. My last visit i was purchasing a helix 7 and yet a again no help, found someone showed them what i was looking for and he just pointed at a pile of stuff that had nothing to do with what i was looking for. That was my final time going and on top of that i drove an hour to get there

June 29,2021 approx 5: 45 pm, my husband and I walk up to the information desk. A young girl, neck length hair highlighted, dressed in “ street clothes”.
Says “ est ce que je peut vous aidez, I proceeded to ask a question in English, she interrupted and said to an employee (friend), Elle comprend pas le francais, rude, rude. I abruptly said yes I do understand, speak it but feel ore comfortable in English.this young girl should have minded her own business as she wasn’t even in Cabellas attire. I was so mad and upset, how rude she was. Earlier that day my husband called, talked to someone about fishing equipment, whoever it was (young girl) was suppose to call him back in regards to confirm that they had the item, no call. Very disappointed in service. But the highlight was that a tall young man in the fishing department found everything we were looking for.

One of my fav shop in ottawa, alot of good rifles and stuff. Few things are bit expensive as compared to normal prices at other places.
But its good.

This review is about the information counter specifically, the rest of the store I really have no qualms about. Although on the most recent visit we asked an associate about wind/rain/snow pants and they said that they hadn't come yet and may not, who knows, but as my wife and I walked just a couple of racks over we found a great assortment. So not sure about the knowledge of the associates either. So on to my observation on the information counter. So, Not sure of the people running Cabela's. The information counter takes care of placing special orders, (no matter what department you wanted the product from) picking up of special orders and returns amongst other things. Many stores take care of returns at any cash. And in this case it doesn't get stuck in the flow with other lumpy processes. Returns are straight forward mostly. There is usually only 1 person at this counter and sometimes none. I have had to use this counter several times over the past year and they seem to be very disorganized there. I finally had to write a review partly in order that I hope someone at Cabela's management team reads this
The flow of customers through your store should be of utmost importance. And I know, to help attract us to things we didn't even know we wanted. Having people stand in line for lengthy time is not helpful to wanting them/me to shop in the store after my time at the counter. We observed at least 6 different employees milling around this counter. Walking in and out, going to the back room behind the counter, etc. It seemed so bizzare that they could see people waiting in line out to the door without thinking that they should put a second person or even a third. Now they did put on a second person but the process that Cabela's has in their own system is extremely lumpy to say the least. So it didn't seem to help much. The clerk's do not seem to be fully trained or the process is so confusing that it becomes frustrating for everyone, including the clerks. Maybe that's why no one else helps them. The store wasn't that busy, in fact aside from the people in line I would venture to say there were more employees than customers. With this many employees the attention to the customer should be much higher.
Their attention should not be in making sure the peice of paper from one department is shuffled from one place to another but in the customers. The boots on the ground need to look up and around instead of racing around and looking busy. Cabela's you have a way to go to providing an efficient shopping experience. Improvements will only help both you and us the customer, especially since you are fighting the exchange rate on so many of your products.
And I know, you know, since you put the yummy snacks right in front of the check out, you do a good job there because you get me there almost every time.

They have gone down hill now they seem to offer instore pick up only on sale items that doesn't help a large customer base when we live 3 hrs from the store.they won't ship from the store even if the customer offers to pay the shipping.they seem to have forgotten their success was largely due to mail order customers.joe

Ordered Benchmade 535 knife online, received the 533 model knife instead (lower quality knife with a lower price). Contacted customer support, and was informed I'd be credited the difference in price three weeks after contacting them. A month later I have not been reimbursed, and when I contacted them again they said I would "probably" receive the refund in the next four weeks. The customer service folks were helpful, but apparently this issue is with the finance department. Regardless, this is my first and last purchase from Cabela's.

This was the second trip I have made to this store and I must say I am not impressed. The first time an employee was leaning up against the counter at the glasses display with his hand on his face and was not trying to assist customers at all. Today while in the customer service line, a man named Richard was dealing with the person in front of me. He was the most arrogant, rude person I have ever seen speaking with a customer. It was unbelievable. He would continue to cut the customer off after being asked to explain what was wrong with the product etc and barked orders at him when it was time to refund him his money. When dealing with the person at the gun counter while looking at sights, well we will say he was less than enthusiastic. I am not impressed with this store at all and by far the worst one I have been to in Canada. I will be looking to spend my money in other stores.

My experience is only with the online shop and i had lost packages that took more than a month to arrive and 2 damaged rifles. But when i call the customer service, they simply dont care and dont try to help. Im done.

I placed an order on January 31 2021 I have yet to receive my order or my refund. The customer service is beyond awful. I order online all the time and have not ever experienced anything like this.
I will stay away from this Walmart of an outdoors store that really doesn’t carry quality gear.
They’ve lost my business.

We went to buy winter coats, and surpriiiise, we found Santa! The kids took pictures with him, "ordered " their gifts and a professional family picture was offred by the store! They have a great team.

Their curbside pick-up service is ridiculous. I placed an order on Boxing day and haven't got it yet. No one responds to emails, no one answers the phone. Great job cabelas Ottawa!

I love cables, it's one of my favourite places to shop. Everytime I've gone in there the staff have been super helpful. The reason for one less star is today I went in and was ignored for a while before i got helped. We weren't even done talking with him before he walked away to help someone else. Had to go back and say hey I still need you. Just the day but it won't stop me from going back.

Drove over an hour to buy a smoker came out empty handed. Aparently even if there is 2 in stock in the store they cant sell them because they have to be ordered online. I tried to tell the floor manager if i went right now on my fone and i placed an online order for the smoker but he replied that even if i did that i would have to wait untill the next day for the in store pickup. Defenetly the last time i go to this store. Love the store and the stuff they sell but customer service is a big zero.

Awesome store! Tons of selection. Very clean. A bit expensive but frequent sales. Staff knows what they are talking about. Any questions about hunting or guns and ammo are happily answered. Very nice store. Always lots of parking is nice as well.

Don't let these guys bore sight your gun. Take it to a gunsmith you trust. Make sure you inspect the gun before you buy it especially on any promo items or deep discounted stuff. Barrel was dirty on the first gun i looked at that wad supposed to be "new gun". The guy took it in the back to take the breech plug out so i could get a better look at it i said yeah it's dirty. He said in a bit of an arrogant tone that it wasn't dirty because he just cleaned it. I didnt want to argue because i was in a bit of a hurry and they already had taken someone before me even though i was ahead of that person. Would have been ok but i drove 3 hours to get there. So i said just bring me a different gun. He did and asked if i wanted it bore sighted. I agreed. Gun was off 22 centimeters to the left at 25 yards. So much for their bent light bore sighter.

Staff was rude. First when we asked where a specific brand we’ve purchased in an Alberta cabelas was. Apparently cabelas has “never carried that brand before”. And second when my 9yo attempted to pay for some candy at the till. The young man would not accept his legal tender of pennies worth $0.15! Even though Canadian law states it’s still good money.

If you like camouflage, this is the place for you. Prices are average for most items, sale prices can be really good. After 22 years in the army wearing camouflage, who knew it would become so popular? Lots of parking, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Recommended.

Terrible online experience. Ordered a pair of boots and waited the 5 - 8 days for delivery. Had them shipped to the Ottawa store and contact them after 2 weeks. They said "Oh, it hasn't been processed yet but should be tomorrow and out to you in 5 - 8 days". I called the company the next day and they said that the boots that ordered were not in stock. Of course, they aren't in stock I bought the last pair and I have a receipt saying that I did. She says well that happens sometimes and that she would have to cancel the order. No apology or anything.

How can a company post items for sale online and then say they weren't in stock. Crazy that a major retailer in 2018 would have such a terrible system. Suffice to say that this was my first and last experience with this company.

Curtis in the Hunting department know his stuff, great help and very knowledgable not to mention He knows where everthing is
Steve in the gun department knows his products aswell very freindly and knowlegable
as for the people in customer service they were uneducated dissorganized did not know there store policies or insentive i little time lost there but all in all Thankyou to Curtis in the hunting department and to Steve in the gun department.

Friendly and helpful staff. A really good shopping experience. I went here twice and also find some good deals, definitely a better place for fishing gears, comparing to Canadian tire or Walmart. First choice if you need some professional assistance to purchase some new staffs.

Absolute disaster. Customer service was plain trash. Employees dont know the product they are selling specially at the firearms counter. They send you all over because they are guessing where stuff is and when asked a firearm question they stutter and look as confused as you are

Great store as a whole. But man oh man that thing the call customer service is just BEYOND pathetic. Little kids that are too busy chit chatting to help. Spentb45 min in the store and was not greeted by aasingle employee. Guys working in the fishing section that have only fished for sunfish on camping trips. Just really bad customer service. Avoid it and visit your local store instead.

Helluva place for all things camping, hunting, fishing, and outdoors. Great selection, if a bit pricey. Better deals available on Amazon if you're willing to shop around, but if you need something TODAY, this place is a good one.
