Cadmans Montreal Bagels

Used to eat here years ago and went back recently to try it out. Will not be going back for a number of reasons.

The good
- Sesame bagel was fresh out of the oven and was good

The bad
-Service was not very friendly
-The bottle of orange juice was a month expired
-The ketchup packets were bloated/ready to burst which means they are fermenting and expired

The minorly bad
-The radio in the seating area was quite loud
-The sign outside is peeling which is not exactly a bad thing but it's indicative of everything else inside the store. The place needs some TLC and cleaning.

Bagels were great and service was nice, had a small mistake on one bagel and they gave another bagel for free. Thank you

We both got Food poisoning from raw dough in the chocolate croissants. Purchased in fall of 2022, have not returned since

Great little place, not overly busy. Very efficient and amazing products. Will be back for sure! Keep up the good work.

I was at the Carling location. The first thing I noticed was the bagel oven was not on and there were no fresh bagels to be had. So, I picked up half a dozen bagged bagels and a cream cheese container which I quickly felt was wet and oily (from the malfunctioning fridge they are in, the unconcerned clerk said). As I looked around after I paid, all I saw was filth. It doesn't look like this place has been cleaned in years! The floor and all surfaces were grimy. Unacceptable for a place that sells food! Not sure what the owner/manager is thinking but I'll not return.

It was my 1st visit to this store Last Friday Nov 25 around 5pm. I ordered few stuff and cream cheese dipping. After I went home I found out that the dipping was not there. So, I went back to ask. Planning to buy it again if I was not charged for it Friday
But unfortunately,   one of the staff, Pam was so rude, aggressive and not polite when answering my question about the dipping.
The second I was telling her what happened she interrupted me saying the cashier didn't charge you for it, I was surprised and asked her you didn't check yet. She said I went after you to give it you.   But the guy said he didn't charge you.   I ask her why you are so angry you could speak to me more politely.she left me talking and called someone else to talk to me.leaving me and another customer standing there.

The other girl was so polite and kept apologizing but Pam was still angry and loud especially when I asked for her name.and she came back screaming: my name is Pam, it's Pam! I was still calm but then I told thr other staff.this is so unprofessional way to talk to your customer and I still need your manager email Please.
I was so disappointed and hurt from the way she spoke to me, infront of staff and custmer.even when staff still trying to talk to me and apologized she was not even trying.customer service is the worse and I really regret coming to this place. I would recommend better training for Pam if they are planning to keep her.
I don't like complaining or stuff like this, but she deserves it  because everyone sometimes have a bad day, but if you have bad day just stay in the back don't deal with cstomers.don't forget even customers also could have day.

Placed on order online specifying a dairy allergy and requested no cheese on a sandwich. The sandwich came with the most cheese I've ever seen inside a bagel. The receipt on the bag clearly said 'Daily allergy - no cheese'. They clearly read the note, because I also requested no pickles, which they got right.

Good place, love their whole wheat bagels. Cheese one doesn't have enough cheese in it though. Location has nice atmosohere, due to glass walls, a some comfy furniture could help.

The customer service isn’t so great. I would recommend better training for the employees. There are no gluten free options so I couldn’t get any bagels. They offer fresh orange juice which tastes good, but the portion is too small.

Worst coffee ever, bagels are the same, never go there! I can’t put 0.5 star unfortunately

So, stopped here for a bagel and lox withcream cheese. Made it clear to the young man behind the counter that my friend and I wanted a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese. When we got to the car, we noted it was salmon flavoured creme cheese on bagel. Went back in and again clarified the order. Maybe if the young woman making the bagels could take time away from texting on her phone she could get the order right. During our wait I had the pleasure of using the restroom. Filthy! The crust on the toilet was evidence that it had not been cleaned in at least several days and the sink was under all critique. I've seen cleaner washrooms in small Nicaraguan villages. You have to wonder about the general level of hygiene. I only give it 2 stars because once we got the correct order the bagels were pretty good. Don't know if I will return though. The presentation may say Montreal style bagels but the attitude of whoever owns this shop says says lack of pride.

Staff is racist, they were laughing at us and very slowly serving us because our english isn’t good, and when we becomes mad about this, they were still laughing, very very bad experience, we’ll never be back

Has been my favourite bagel shop in Ottawa until 2 weeks ago. Purchased a dozen poppyseed & they we’re entirely different than in the past. No way we’re they Montreal Style. Forced myself to eat 3 & couldn’t stomach anymore. Threw them in the GARBAGE.
After paying $ 11.79 for terrible bagels, will never go back.

I am honestly shocked to see poor reviews. Everything I've ever gotten here has been amazing and fresh. Honestly, best bacon egg and cheese bagel sandwich I have had ANYWHERE. They can be a little slow but the bagels are worth it.

I will not be going back. The service was excessively slow, which meant a large number of people crowded in a very small area. This would not be great normally, but even worse during the peak of COVID.

The bagels I purchased were very hard and must have been days old.

If you want good service and quality bagels head over to Kettlemans and don’t waste your time and money at Cadmans.

How dirty would this place be without Covid. Not really impressed how unclean surfaces were inside, they did have a sign offering mask, don't know if true. As for the bagel it was dry and not really that good. I will say the two ladies working were polite

For $14 plus tax, you receive a stale, rock hard bagel with one slice of turkey, half a slice of lettuce and a slice of cheese. Asked for extra mayo and received barely any mayo at all ; had to search for it. When your turkey sandwich only tastes like the one slice of cheese on it there is a problem. This place has gone way down and is completely overpriced for the value. Who do they think they are? !

Where to start. Forgot the onion on there signature sandwich, barely any cream cheese or salmon, let some stranger bare hand the bagels I just bought when they were on the counter and didn’t replace them. Bagels I did get are 100%at least a day old, probably more, I can bounce them off the floor. Spent 20$ and will take it as a lesson. Avoid at all costs

Nice, friendly vibe and great selection of bagels and sandwiches. The price and taste are excellent. However, the wait time can be quite long, even if it is not busy in the store. For the folks on the go, would recommend perhaps calling ahead to order.

Takeout was drenched in orange juice.they gotta come up with better packaging then a plastic bag, if OJ was individually packaged this would not happen.

First time visiting this place and loved it. I really like fresh Montreal style bagels and Cadmans had plenty to choose from. I tried their all dressed bagel as part of a ham and cheese sandwich and it was great. Too bad for them that they can’t have more people stay inside to eat right now, but don’t let that stop you from giving them a try. Definitely recommend.

Best breakfast sandwich in Ontario! Bagel just came out of the oven, fresh made coffee & super accommodating staff! Make your your way NOT their way!

What a disgusting place. The cashier behind the counter was constantly sneezing and wiping her nose and mouth with her hands. She immediately started packing an order without washing her hands even when I was watching, emagine what happens when there is no customers around. These employee's should be properly trained before on how to handle food, specially it's covid time.

Pretty gross since it switched from a kettleman’s. The two female employees just talk and roll their eyes when they have to lift a finger.

Messed up my order and refused to fix it. Hung up on me when I was complaining, and I didn't raise my voice or swear.

The food at this place is delicious. I've ordered from here a number of times and enjoyed the food but everytime I do they are always of items. They never have samosas which is very disappointing.

Ordered 2 turkey bagels, the bagels were stale, they used the end peices of tomatoes that no one likes. Awfull experience. This place has gone downhill

Cadmans is very good and consistent! I always enjoy the ham & Swiss or the Italian sandwich.

A regular customer here for years, the service has deteriorated with often mistakes with the order, it may take a minute or 2 to be greeted with only 1 other customer in store. The latke and bagels are now soaked in oil. I love the taste of the food here but I wish they sharpened service and went easy with the grease in the food

Maybe I'm spoiled from when this locattion was kettlemans, but if going here now expecting the same level of service you will be VERY disappointed. Came in at 2: 30 this afternoon. Ovens are COLD and only a clerk behind the counter. No hot bagels here! They also apparently had been left out for several hours and were getting stale a result. My guess would be since tyesterday. Girl behind the counter talking on a bluetooth set the whole time while srving me and didnt acknow.lege my questions. This is no where near the quality of service this location had under kettlemans management. Cadmans, well just no.

I visited today, was crazy busy but girl managed very well nd served without wait. Great taste and wonderful service. Polite staff.

I don't recommend ordering off their website. They don't seem to check it nor do they update it according to what they actually make. It is also pretty glitchy, my cart before checkout was different than the order list after paying. And what I eventually got, after waiting for them to find the order and put it together, was not what I ordered?

The sandwiches were right and good. But the latkes were subpar at best. The cinnamon puffs weren't fully cooked on the inside but the chocolate puffs were great! I just didn't need a dozen of them?

They did try to make substitutions for me, as I ordered cinnamon buns but they don't make any, so they replaced them with puffs. They tried.

Bagels were exceptional. They are a bit bigger than Ottawa bagel shop and kettlemans. Touch softer.

Please have your staff wear gloves when serving customers and insist on social distancing when serving ccustomers on this customers customer support

I will give them one star since this place is dirty and not very well managed! Specially the washroom was aweful!

Bought the bagels and they didn't seem fresh. They were pretty hard to cut open. I also got some spread which did taste good. I think I'd rather get bagels from Costco.

Ordered a reuben bagel from skip the dishes, upon arrival of the order it became apparent that there was a chicken breast in the bagel as opposed to smoked meat.given that there are only four ingredients in a reuben, and that chicken doesn't even remotely resemble smoked meat, I'm not sure how this error was made.on top of that, the outside of the bagel was splattered with mustard as if it were thrown at it by Jackson Pollock, rather than simply applied inside it.this is only the beginning of the trouble, for when I called the restaurant to see what could be done about this mistake, I was essentially told that they were sorry, there's a new girl working, and that nothing could be done to fix the problem.naturally I asked to speak to a manager, because there's no way that a public business would handle a mistake in this manner, to which I was told that there was no manager on duty, at 3pm, on a Friday.and that one wouldn't even be on site until the following day with no specification of as to when.needless to say that I am very disappointed in what used to be one of my favorite bagel shops in the city.it's not the mistake that bothered me so much, as their complete lack of accountability in regards to the mistake and subsequently falling completely flat when given an opportunity to rectify said mistakes. I hope that management sees this review and steps are taken to prevent this kind of customer experience in the future.sadly, I will not be one of the customers to experience this much needed improvement.and for God's sake, someone please teach the poor "new girl" what the difference between chicken and smoked meat is.

I just had chopped liver in my bagel that had neither the look, nor the taste of chopped liver. It tasted like somebody had tried to recreate the flavour after eating it somewhere, and added sugar to a non-descript dark brown spread. All this could have been excused if the bagels I bought we're good quality, but sadly, they were not. They were too big, too light in color, and too doughy and possibly not too fresh. The place was empty. The staff was friendly enough, but seemed out of touch. The cashier confessed that she had not tried the chopped liver because she did not know what went into making it. I wholeheartedly agreed with her. This is definitely not Jewish-style Deli food.

Delicious, fast, and nutritious food run by a lovely family. Make sure you tell the cashier if you are allergic to any ingredients on the sandwich menu when ordering a bagel. There are no gluten free bagels, but you can order vegan bagels if you give 24h notice

Apparently they no longer give you a pickle with your sandwiches. Last two visits I had a few olives tossed in. No apology or mention of the substitution. Ordered the Italian and it only had one or two slices of meat. Hardly qualifies as a deli sandwich. Dirty dining room and forgettable sandwiches. Won't be going there anymore.

This place has gone down hill in the last few months. I just got 2 bagel sandwiches and the bagels are so stale and terrible I think they used old bagels that they should have threw out. Very disappointed in this visit basically threw them out when I got home and tried to eat them

Excellent bagels. I wish they'd change their old noisy fridges, put a better sound system and play nice music.

I love Montreal style bagels, so I was happy to find this place in Ottawa. Bagels were decent and had many options to choose from.

However, customer service really let me down. The people working there seemed like they didn't want to be there. The cashier was so soft spoken we had to ask her several times to repeat herself. The tables were all dirty, and it's not like the place was busy either. The other thing that shocked me was, I saw one of the employees scratching her butt with her hand.
The coffee there was subpar as well.

Great option if you are in the west end for bagels and breakfast. This location was a Kettleman's and offer great options. Parking available.

Bagel dough is just ok yet the sandwich was very disappointing. One slice of ham on a ham and cheese is very cheap and doesn’t make me want to return. And I thought Kettlemans bagels was getting skimpy! Not hard to make a substantial tasty sandwich to keep people coming back. Hope you change for the better. Thanks for the lunch though.

I like to stop there in between clients when I’m in Ottawa west. Been a few times in the past two years. I like the simpler flavours of bagels (not the greatest but decent), coffee, bagel sandwiches, and for some reason the Onion soup a lot, Latke seems microwaved and not super fresh. I used to have cashiers that were rude and had no dies what was on the menu behind them, but last two times it got better. As a fan of the OG St-Viateur MONTREAL bagels, I give this place my approval

Ordered 2 Bagel sandwiches. After waiting half an hour I finally went up to ask to see where I was and it turns out they hadn't even started on it. There was no one in so they weren't busy, and at least 4 people were fully served before we ever got our food. Absolutely outrageous.

Smiling service, incredible selections, toasted to perfection, just the right amount cream cheese.

The bagels are OK, but the service is absolutely horrible. I was greeted by this nonchalant cashier chewing gum. He needed to be reminded 3 times about my order. The kitchen staff is disorganized and scattered. A customer asked the staff for something (I didn't hear what) and was told "we are too busy".

Don't let the line up fool you, it's just because they are slow as molasses.

I waited 20 minutes for them to throw microwaved egg and bacon on an already made bagel. And then, they were giving me a hard time because I didn't have an order number (I was never given one!) Ugh.

Save the frustration and just go to the Kettlemans at college square!

Been there a few times for the breakfast combo (coffee, breakfast bagel and some sort of hashbrown), its usually decent for the price 7$ ish.until my last visit. I asked for my bagel to be well done since its usually not very toasted. Seems the guy didn't understand so i repeated myself to make sure he understood and he acknowledged like he knew what he was doing. I get my order, no sign of any toaster and the bagel tasted very dry not fresh.the guy that took my order really didnt care. Poor service don’t spend your money there.
