I had a fantastic experience at this Hong Kong style restaurant! Despite its small size, the place is incredibly clean and tidy. The friendly waitstaff made me feel welcome, and the prices were very affordable. I ordered two main dishes and two cold drinks, and it only cost me $33 - quite a bargain!

The restaurant is always bustling, with a long waiting queue. However, you can join the waiting list in advance, saving you from waiting in line. The highlight for me was the ice Hong Kong milk tea with traditional Ding Ding candy. It was both tasty and creamy, and the candy slowly melting in the tea added a unique twist.

The food was served quickly and was delicious. I'm definitely planning to return for a second visit. If you're looking for a place to enjoy a quick and affordable meal with a taste of authentic Hong Kong flavors, this is the place to be!

Heard about this place for all the right reasons. Good food. Great price. We came in for the HK breakfast and I was not disappointed. We ordered a variety so we could try a little bit of everything. The highlights were the milk tea (which makes or breaks a 茶餐廳 for me) and the egg toast with truffle. I love this place. I cannot wait to visit again!

Finally got a chance to try this place. My gf got the satay beef with instant noodle, and we both thought the satay was a bit too salty for our liking, but the black truffle scrambled egg on toast in my meal D was really good.made me want to buy some truffle sauce myself for my everyday breakfast. The restaurant was pretty full but the lineup wasn’t too long because there are plenty of tables. The price was reasonable for the food we ordered unlike many other restaurants nowadays. 性價比太良心 Will come back some other time soon

Our first time at Cafe De Hong Kong and boy was it phenomenal! Everything was simply devine! We arrived on a Thursday afternoon around 3pm and there was a 15 mins wait time for the 4 of us. No biggie. We were busy admiring the fun old school decorations on the wall. 15 mins flew by.

We wanted to try the afternoon tea time special and every single thing was sooooo yummy! We ordered the fish ball with octopus, salted egg french toast, street Churn Fun (rice roll) and bolo Bao with butter (sweet pineapple bun stuffed with butter) and we ate everything. Luckily it was only afternoon snack since we just finished lunch but it really hit the spot.

The ladies that served us was so friendly and nice. We spoke Cantonese so we chatted about some Hong Kong news and they asked us if we were from the States. Felt like home coming into this delicious restaurant. A true 5 stars for everything from food, service and ambiance! We will be back next year!

Good food, good price, but wait too long, suggest you make booking at least 30 minutes before you go.

Make sure you use yelp to line up for the wait line. This resteraunt is popular and I noticed a lot of customers has to wait for 30mims + if you don’t use the app to do so. Food wise, HK style resteraunt. Portion is good and reasonable price.

One of the best pineapple bun in Markham and probably all of GTA. Line up is huge and it was pretty impossible to not wait 1 hour outside before, but now it has since improved as there is a yelp wait list so you can walk around First Markham Place while you wait.

My very first visit to this infamous eatery popular for its HK style food. Too many items to choose from yet I could not choose all of them.

If you come in the afternoon, you will have to wait around two hours for a seat as there are many people on the wait list. Suggested time to come is when they open at 10am as you will be guaranteed a spot. Food is really good, and not that expensive making this place worth the visit. Great customer service too. HK milk tea might be the best I've ever tasted.

Edit Aug 13 2022: Food still very good. Price has not increased since the pandemic. Milk tea came with little ice, so more tea. Wait times still insanely long, but totally worth it.

Totally worth the wait to get in, the food was excellent, hk style milk tea was worth the wait by itself. Hainanese chicken was so good, and the toast was good mixed with peanut sauce. Can't say enough how good it was.

Every time I tried visiting this restaurant, there has always been a line. Finally decided to join the virtual line through Yelp before heading over, and it was the greatest decision. The food was delicious and the staff was quite attentive. However, the parking is ridiculous and the one hour wait was excessive.

This is my second visit to this HK style cafe serving up some delicious comfort food which brings you back to your childhood if lived in Hong Kong. The restaurant is always busy and you can check in to the waiting on Yelp as long as you are within about 4 km from the restaurant. We arrived at First Markham Place which is a neighboring mall across the street from the restaurant. It was a cold snowy Sunday so we didn't want to wait in the cold car.

We were 22nd in line and it took about 1 hr 30 minutes to get a table. This place is not recommended for large groups as they are a small diner. You might need to split up your party if you want a table faster.

We ordered a bunch of items. Look at the menu carefully as some items like rice and noodles dishes come with complimentary hot tea or coffee while some do not like the snacks.

We upgraded a 3 drinks to cold specialty drinks for $2.25 each. Iced Ovaltine w/ Ovaltine crunch, pink lady (Pink salted plum citron Sprite). The other drinks were HK style milk teas and lemon tea.

All the food were made fresh to order tasted really good. I do recommend coming in earlier as the lineup gets really long. Be sure to take a walk in First Markham Place across the street to burn some time. Lots of unique dishes to try each time.

Patrons speak putonghua and guangtonghua (mandarin & cantonese) fully enjoy the mood, vibe, atmosphere, company, service, menu, food, cooking, aroma etc. It is similar to other claimed to be HK style Cafes around town especially the newly pop up ones. Whether the savory is on par with the genuine old HK type, you are invited to try out. Have fun, folk. This is Canada, GTA district! There would be some months, might be years before returning to HK since 21 days self expense hotel quarantine just imposed for new arrival!

It has been a common theme with eateries to have shrunken menu giving no apparent cause after some time of running. Anyhow, the food are nicely prepared and presented, while portion not much, price acceptable again. Hopefully there would be a leisure meal some time soon. So long pandemic
Very late Feb, 2022. Registered at the Waitlist Station. A after 25 min text message seat alert. Consistent cooking for this lunch and cost in this not frigid noon. If the Golden King Milk Tea be of more portion would make it perfect!

Mid Apr, a pleasant lunch with just 15 min wait. I am not sure if the Hainan Chicken rice dish served at other place offering a aromic coconut oil in the steamed rice. Anyway, its chicken serving is excellent already. Might revisit past patronized eateries again to confirm,
Mid Oct 2022, weekday lunch. Get hee at 11: 40 am. Wait is few min but the Hainan Chicken Rice meal is only order accepted at 12 pm sharp. Nice ladies take care of it at the right time and queue. But this dish has the yellowish oiled rice to hard and without chicken nor coconut flavor. The chicken is tender and skin is just with enough fat. The accompanying two sauces and tiny dish of pickle are fine. See what is in store next time.
Early Dec 2022, Monday lunch. Special formula Satay beef soup 一丁 with fish meat springy roll. It is greatly HK style, delicious. My best experience so far in GTA. Highly suggested and proves me otherwise, thank you!

Food might be on the salty side, but the drinks were really tasty, priced reasonable, servers were really kind and polite?

I got a parking ticket just to pick up my order for only two minutes, the ticket guy said I parked at the other shops spot. And I found out that shop was not even occupied, will not go there again.

The 5 stars rating is for the restaurant setting, its menu choice and the taste.
We came here on a Monday morning and there is no line to get in.
The staffs checked our vaccine records first thing before we are seated. The cafe has 5 booths and 6 tables of 4 with adequate spacing in between. They offer lunch menu at 10 and lite options are available as well. Food tastes good, portion is ok and very reasonable pricing. We all love this cafe very much.

Good hk diner experience. Tasted authentic with a modern flair. Curry brisket got a good kick, eggg sandwich very soft and creamy, baked pork chop is decent with good sauce. Cold drinks also good flavour. The prices are fair and reasonable. Wait time isn’t too bad, you can get on the waitlist using Yelp when closer to the restaurant.

Cafe De Hong Kong has been a favourite among the GTA locals for their elevated Hong Kong Diner (Cha Chaan Teng) cuisine.

Since they opened last spring, there is always a line during peak brunch hours to sample their unique creations. They have your authentic combos such as Satay Beef Instant Noodle Soup or Hainanese Chicken on Rice on top of unique options such as their Pineapple Bun sandwich creations and Truffle Scrambled Eggs!

The Hainanese Chicken on Rice was hit or miss in my opinion. The rice does lack a bit of flavour you would get from the poaching broth, but the chicken is tender and juicy.

The Fried Chicken Leg with Spicy Typhoon Sauce is one of my new favourite ways to enjoy fried chicken. The sauce pairs nicely with the chicken without the crispy skin getting soggy from the copious amount of sauce.

The scrambled eggs are nice and runny with the truffle adding a nice amount of salinity in each bite. Come on, who doesn't love truffles and eggs!

Although there may be a long wait in line (unless you reserve your spot ahead of time on Yelp), the service is efficient! Upon entering and being seated, you will be served very quickly like any diner in Hong Kong where the wait staff just wants to give you a nice meal and have you out the door for the next table.

Although we are spoiled for choice for HK Diners in Markham/Scarborough/Richmond Hill, I can't wait for my next visit to Cafe De Hong Kong!

Arrived during afternoon tea and they had a bit of a line up outside (about 5 tables in front of me), but makes sense considering they have 11 tables and still need to distance the tables under covid restrictions. Service staff was attentive and kind despite it being busy. Did not wait long for the food whatsoever.

508 Salted egg yolk French toast
Love the crisp texture of the toast and the syrup was very evenly and lightly coated. Was much lighter than it sounded with a perfect balance of salty and sweet. Great to share.

101 Foie Gras & Black truffle pineapple bun
Again a subtle blend of saltiness from the foiegras &fried egg and sweetness from the bun. Quite filling on its own

104 fried Chicken and avocado pineapple bun
A towering sandwich with generous serving of fried chicken covered in the sweet and subtly spicy sauce that doesn't sting or ruin your taste buds.

HK milk tea in a bottle was smooth and a nice souvenir.

Dripping Devil signature drink was a nice sweet treat to wrap our meal.

Overall the I could see the care and attention to high quality put into the food. Definitely worth the wait if you're looking to try something new. Having the "outside the box" dishes leaves you wanting to try more. Also left quite full all for under $30.

P. S. Surprised some people have the audacity to complain about wait times for a new restaurant DURING covid when they have to limit seating. Especially when they're getting hyped by social media and word of mouth. Best part is that one of the fools leaving a review didn't even eat their food LOL.

Cafe De Hong Kong is now on soft opening. The ambiance was unique and different than other Chinese cafes. Their menu was very special and the food tasted really good. The portion wasn’t really big but the price was affordable. The service was ok, however, the waiting time for our food & drink was a bit long. Hopefully that can be improved later! We look forward to go back and try other items on their menu.

So shocked that they made me wait for 1.5 hour for the take outs! We are told to wait for abt 20 mins for the food, but antoher 15mins and another 15mins and another 15 mins are added until we found out they HAVE NOT STARTED TO COOK OUR FOOD.if the waiter tells that would take more than an hour for take outs, I could wait at home or just cancel the order right?
i understand you just opened recently and may need some time to coordinate the procedures. BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOU CAN LIE TO CUSTOMERS AGAIN AND AGAIN. SHAME ON YOU

Wasted 90 minutes of my life waiting and they did not even starts prepare my order! When I was ordering they told me to wait 20 minutes, DO NOT GO THERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR TIME!

My new fav asian cafe! Great value and great food. They have their own twist to their menu items which makes them unique from other asian cafes. Would definitely recommend!

Never had Hong Kong cuisine as good as this. They have a unique twist on each meal which makes it stand out compare to any other HK restaurants.
Now they just opened up and are understaffed so bare with them on the wait as I believe it is worth it and like many new restaurants, it will be better!

Soft opening with 10% off all orders. Food was inventive with a unique twist on classic Hk dishes. I had the shrimp toast with egg yolk, and “titan” burger with pineapple bun. I also highly recommend the “typhoon” style chicken wings. Every dish is under $10 regular price! I forgot to ask if they had wifi.
