I love the vibe in this place for coffee. The back patio feels like a time portal. Very peaceful.

Words can’t describe how much I like there. I loveee the vibe there. The patio is really beautiful and has a cute apple tree. The drinks are nostalgic and the neighborhood is so cool.

The chai concentrate is made in house, also highly recommend the ice tea or breakfast cookie.

One of the best cafe/bars in the city! Great prices and portions. The people who work here are also freaking awesome, I forgot my wallet there last night and they kept it for me. I had 300$ inside and everything is still here. Thank you a million ️

One of my favourite places for cocktails, i love how gin is their base alcohol. They cocktails have special spices and they are just amazing. Friendly staff and two great outdoors patios.

The bar is really lovely, great drinks, the bartender is very knowledgeable and approachable. My friends and i have been coming here for a long time, however, the manager (or supervisor?) made my friend group move twice. The first one with the excuse of clearing space around the bar to create a clear walkway towards the bathroom. This is a valid concern, so we moved to a table. He then came and said that as a group of three we could not take up a table four and made one of us take a patio chair. The problem lies in the fact he then allowed another group of men to sit in the exact place where we were. I politely asked him why they could sit there and we couldn’t. He could not answer me and was dismissive, asking if i was offended, and basically shrugged me off. Very disappointing! I am not one to make assumptions but in my gut i feel like he has something against women especially since he does not ask the same of men in the same situation. I will definitely not be coming back here

Great back patio with a big tree in the center of it that overhangs the tables and lights up with pretty string lights at night. Also, they have great coffee and cocktail menus. They can probabky make anything.

First time at this puzzling place and never again. Medicore, overly sweet, luke warm, over priced chai latte. You've poorly co-opted another culture's drink. Take it off the menu, it's awful. Made worse that it was served by two (two!) rude, indifferent young women baristas working the counter. The one who took the order was decidedly miserable, uninviting, cagey and snide (I did not appreciate your cattiness when I asked how the chai latte is made; btw it was as shait as you) even when I tried to counter with basic pleasantness. Reading all the one star reviews and it amazes me this place hasn't made attempts to improve their staff behaviour. What a shame.

Contrary to what people commented here, I was told by staff that laptops are not allowed. Just fyi. Loved the mulled wine though!

Ample, comfortable, and cozy seating both inside and outdoors. Standard but quality drinks during cafe hours, and delicious gin-based drinks (their specialty) during bar hours. Their short list of sandwiches is delicious when in stock/available, and their staff is kind, patient, and efficient, with quick service and good prices. And the wifi and outlet access is good to boot! I also really like that they have specific areas/times when laptops are not allowed, which encourages a gently social atmosphere even when many people are indeed working on their computers next to each other. Definitely my favorite go-to spot in Toronto!

Delightful ambience, lovely back patio and great staff behind the bar. They also have a chess board that we always end up using. Their beer selection is pretty decent and they do stock a good bottle of armagnac st a decent price per dram.

Such a great space. They have seating in-front, indoors (narrow hallway bar/cafe) and outside in the back probably has the most amount seating. I had their vegan beat root soup. Absolutely yummy! My friend has a coffee and coffee croissant which was super flaky. Overall pleasant stuff, lovely environment. Might be a little hard to find as the signage is minimal.

Great steeped tea here. Though I didn't like chai latte. It was too cold!

Pamenar is a relaxing space ambiance to gather with friends, read a book, or do light computer work while enjoying a caffeinated beverage or juice. It has two patios (front & back) and drink and baked goods options. The front patio is a social zone with no laptops allowed. The space is long and narrow and there are plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors.

Never seen a bar with such a specialty gin menu - it's a huge selection. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Very nice patio in the back.

Great place to do some work and get a coffee and a sandwich. There's an electronics free zone at the front but a large back patio where you can use your computer. Wold recommend!

Great customer service, cool vibes, and chill atmosphere. I enjoyed the live music and meeting new people. Kind of a cool social concept to not use your laptop in the evenings.

Nice patio in the back but don't come here unless you're a white dude. Truly awful service and racist behaviour from the Asian woman barista. But don't take my word - others have complained as well.

She snapped at me after informing her she was out of cups for water and then rudely dismissed me when I asked for a SPOON because they were out (snapping back that they only have SUGAR - which had nothing to do with anything).

Look through other reviews and you will see complaints of this Asian barista's racist behaviour - being rude to folks if you are not white and a man. As an Asian, I too, like others received rude and awful service (this person has some serious self Asian hate going on). Someone needs to remind her we're no longer in colonial times and she needs to turn the sucking up to the white man down a notch.

I've been here several times to give it a chance but I'm done paying to be abused.

Favourite bar in kensington! I love the cute/private back patio, as well as how it’s both a cafe (more during the day) and a bar.great place to study.amazing live music, and a spot for cool people for sure.bartender was very friendly too.

The bartender had no idea what he was doing and took ages, know how to make your own cocktails.

I love this place - summer to winter & on to patio weather again. Each seating space has its own mood whether you’re inside or outside. The walls of windows at the front & back bring natural light in grey winters, soothing breezes in summer. Lots of variety held in this narrow storefront. Oh yes! Great cappuccinos & (gigantic) ginger cookies!

My favourite bar in Kensington Market. It has a very nice chill vibe, and a nice backyard as well. You can also ask for the chess board from the bartender:)

Wonderful space, the coffee was nice but the two barristas/employees behind the counter seemed to be in a really bad mood which was a huge turn off. No smiles, not friendly at all and seemed annoyed we were ordering at all. First time there after recommendations from friends but not sure if I would recommend to anyone I know or spend money there again. Bummer.

Coffee might not be so great but I loved the ambience. If you want to have drinks though, it is a lovely place to hang out. Very romantic setup with nice vibing music. They also have an amazing patio. Hanging out in the summers with definitely be fun

I've asked for a long espresso and got it very looooong.

I've also mindfully, when it was not bussy nor crowded and when I've noticed the empty toaster oven, asked for food warm up, to which the young barista said she can not do that, but best she can do is leave the food on top of the espresso machine this cracked me up (did not warm up the good)

The sweetest staff ever! Ask me if they have good coffee and cocktails cuz im all about that jazz. Just give them an idea of what youre into and they will make their magic work.
Theyve got new sandwiches and change up their pastry counter prety often so thats another plus

Went there with a friend for the first time and we were lucky that they had a fire at their backyard. Great group of people and the server was super nice. Love the environment and would definitely go back.

Pamanar is one of the classic coffee shop/bars, not just in Kensington, but in all of Toronto. The drinks are excellent, the decor is excellent, and there is an impressive amount of customer space, especially with the enlarged back patiom go sit under the trees before the leaves fall off!

Great ambiance. Delicious coffee and baked goods. Love the patio/space they have, perfect to work or for an intimate drink.

Went there yesterday after the pandemic, same friendly staff, same crowd, same good coffee and still customers with whom you can talk.

I went there and took Chai Latte. Its quality was pretty bad (much lower than Starbucks), however its backyard was nice and cozy. After about 20 minutes of staying someone came and told us pay for the event or leave. Nobody had notified us there will be a paid event before ordering!

My hub for innovative, new music and friendly chats! They have a great selection of drinks, you should specially try their Secangebin drink!

Good coffee place, but a bit inconsistent (e.g. I once had a latte that could have been better). The pastries are good. The large patio behind the building is a great place to meet people or do some work.

Nice patio and location but horrendous service.no table service at all and slow ordering. There was a nail tip coming out of our bench that tore my pants, after mentioning it to the lady at the bar not even an apology.

This place falls to the same pitfall that is a recurring theme for most of these so called “unique” bars, they start with a brilliant idea and invest good money but forget they need competent staff and management to allow for proper service

Lovely spot in the city, I've been there for a couple of music events. Their sekanjeh Jin is delicious. A bit tight when it was busy.

Hands down my fave spot in the city. Love the atmosphere, it's such a nice place to hang out. Wifi is not great though so definitely a hang out spot more than a work spot. Good for mornings. Good for afternoons. Good for evenings. Good for alone time.and good for friends time!

I never truly got the hype about Cafe Pamenar because their coffee is good, but not amazing. However, it is a fun hub for anyone who lives in this neighbourhood as it transitions into a bar at night and had a beautiful terrace out back!

Not the best place to go for a hot drink but the ambience is decent, so it's got that going for it.

Heads up no hot drinks/ coffee items at night, mainly a bar after 8pm. But other than that this place is amazing and the apple cider and the vibe was good!

Atmosphere is good, but remember that this place is mostly a mini bar than a place for drink tea or coffee. Although they mixed cafe and bar, this was more bar to me than a cafe. Cake was okey but was not fresh.
Tea masala got 1 out of 10 (Do not recommend).
They have to be more aware of hygiene, only one bartender can not clean all area and do her job!
My total score is 2,5 out of 5.
Hope they get better.

Although it’s listed as a cafe, I think this is more of a drinks spot. I went there one morning and it was absolutely dead (and the coffee machine was broken lol). The staff was friendly but there was only one other person there (= total absence of background noise) and the bakery selection was quite small. Not the place to go for a coffee and conversation - unless you want everyone else to hear it. Maybe I hit a weird morning but it just wasn’t my favourite place in the Market overall.

Café Pamenar is one of my favorite places in Toronto. Great staff and owner. Delicious coffee and an excellent craft beer selection. Not to mention the cutest secluded back patio in the warmer months.

I went there once and it had a very terrible waitress coming to me after I was there for about an hour telling with a very bad attitude that this area is reserved. She also said you cannot use your laptop here after 2 PM. All is ok if you say it politely. But she was so mean that even the people from the table next to me were surprised and when she left they said what was wrong with her!

Decent price, good coffee. The service wasn't friendly or welcoming tho. Space is cozy to chill with some friends.

This is a great spot for a quick coffee/break while touring Kensington market. The front patio is great for pics too.

There are a lot of cafés in Kensington and this is the one I find has the most consistent coffee quality. Their back patio is super cute and they have a real good laptop policy that doesn't have their space clogged with people "working". I've never had the food soooooo yeah. Tiny booze list is a nice move for a cold one during the summer. Staff.not the nicest.

Great coffee, great space. It can be pretty social sometimes, so you might not get a quiet study space - but hey, it's a cafe.
Note: no laptops after 8pm on weekdays and 2pm on weekends, which I'm personally a-ok with!

Not a good place to study! The laptop free zone is in effect at 2 pm and they enforce it. The coffee was good, but the staff was very rude - we ended up taking ours to go because they made us feel so uncomfortable

I love the place! The staff are very nice and friendly and the coffee is great, they have nice pastries and it's a great place for both working on your own or enjoying with a friend.

Awesome place with a wonderful little green patio at the back, they serve delicious coffee. The only complaint would be there's no coffee after 8, not even decaf. Otherwise we keep coming back!

Meh. There isn't anything else on the menu for non alcoholics. It should be called a bar instead of a cafe.

A locals favourite for socializing, reading, and getting things done. Great coffee but also offers an extensive beer and liquor selection.

This is a very, very cute place in the Kensington Market part of Toronto. With three fun areas to enjoy: a courtyard out the back, indoor seating at a table or bar, or out door seating at the front. This is a popular place for study or work so many people working on laptops or socialising, so they do have some rules about where laptops can be used (not out the front and not after 7pm!).

This is a place that serves a great selection of teas, also beers and coffee. I didn’t eat here, so I cannot comment on the quality of the food, but the Milk Oolong Tea went down as a treat with the lovely atmosphere (great music), and mood (romantic lighting and exotic plants in the courtyard (guava and olive I believe). Helpful, friendly staff. Cash or Debt, just so you know.

Still one of my favorite cafes in the Kensington area! Beautiful patio seating, great music & vibes, lighting and drinks (both coffee & alcohol). Great place to bring friends or an intimate date with your partner!

A nice cafe with lovely backyard and front patio. Very good coffee. Good selection of beer, nevertheless, they only have cans and they are selling them for 8 CAD and more! Also service was very very slow.
