I’m not even kidding when I say this is the best Nigerian restaurant in Toronto. The atmosphere, the food!
I had the jollof rice and red snapper and afang with poundo yam and everything was perfect.
From the taste of the soup to the texture and taste of the rice.
I’m definitely looking forward to coming back here!
Service was top notch too! Most certainly recommend.

So I got there around 6.45pm and by 7.15pm I made an order for chicken wings and beer with fries, a friend ordered fish and beer with plantain. Both orders came after about 15mins. So I was thinking; dope service. There were just about 5 people inside at this time. Next up around 9pm, I placed an order for chicken pepper soup and Strawberry Daiquiri. The cocktail took about 1hr and I had to go and meet the waiter to ask how far like twice before it came (they forgot to add alchy to the cocktail). As for the chicken pepper soup; be like they couldn't catch the chicken ooo. I went to the waiter at least four different times and still didn't get the order. I had to change the order to chicken wings to go. It was so annoying cos I waited over two hours and still didn't get the chicken pepper soup I ordered. They definitely prioritise Uber eats orders over in store orders which is just stupid. I even considered placing an Uber eats order just to test my theory but I decided to drop a bad review instead. The wings were nice but the chef is moving mad. 100pc don't recommend for in-store visits.

My husband brought me this restaurant as a surprise since I love Nigerian food. The vibe was good, the layout of the restaurant was okay and service was decent. The food however was a disappointment, I ordered Egusi which I could barely eat, it had an odd taste/ odor. Also it was a lot of oil on the top of the stew and it was a bit runny. My husband ordered the yam fries with the fish which also had a strange odor and you can just tell the fish wasn't fresh. It was freshly made but the fish must of been sitting in the fridge or something. As an appetizer, we ordered beef suya which was the only meal we enjoyed but even that was basic. We left and found another Nigerian restaurant and enjoyed a nice meal there. I hope the restaurant can try to fix these issues.

So I’m here to review the pepper soup. And it’s good.it’s been a staple when I been hungover. But I just realized that it’s almost basically chicken broth. (chicken pepper soup) with loads of random leaves. I literally added pepper soup mix to the broth and microwaves it and it became the soup I expected it to be.

If you want a good chicken soup that’s beyond the European version this is good. But I think it’s a stretch to call it pepper soup as it lack the traditional healing herbs pepper soup is about.

Hmmmm. There afang soup was delicious but food they said will take 25 mins, took 1hr. Hunger nearly beat my life remain one bar. While waiting I saw some Uber eat drivers come there and they complained bitterly about the delay.

The environment is cool but you guys really need to do more; this Nigerian time syndrome will further destroy reputation of Nigerians abroad.

Other than the needle delays very thing was ok

Delicious foods. I got a couple of soups - Banga and Edikang Ikong - and jollof. All great. The Banga was a little too runny though but tasty. And FYI, their Edikang Ikong is actually Afang soup.at least that's what I received or what mine tasted like but I love both soups so I don't mind. And it was delicious.

I had to put in a review today based on the grounds that I have had repeated satisfactory service at this restaurant. I have tried out a couple of African/Nigerian meals here and I recommend this place. Good ambience, great service and most importantly good food.

Well where do I start? This place is dope, from the food to the music. I ordered the beef suya which was tender and well seasoned with onions, lettuce and suya pepper. Delicious. I also ordered a beef shawama, this had a hot dog, beef shredded meat and coleslaw.
The place is tastefully decorated, elegant and clean, the owner is extremely hands on and friendly. The menu is full and a vast variety to pick from.

The food proppa! The establishment is great too. The price isn't exactly cheap but it matches the quality of the food and the setting so it makes sense.

Very disappointed, paid $22 for large beef suya, trust me when l say that I received a small size filled with onions and cabbage and barely any suya. The fried rice was nothing to what l expected for $18. Don’t wast your money on this place. Over priced!

Visited this establishment near the end of summer. Great food, but the server was extremely unprofessional (flirting, lying about prices, and then told us he doesn't need our tip). Also, as others stated, portions are very small.

The food and atmosphere was amazing! If you’re looking for authentic Nigerian food in a posh restaurant this is the place. The service was also excellent. This would be a great place to host a birthday dinner!

Some people make the mistake of lumping food from Nigeria as Nigerian food. There is no such thing as Nigerian food. There are over 150 ethnic groups in Nigeria each with its own cuisine. They all have one things in common deep flavour.

Many people of Nigerian heritage, will agree that food is our language of love. I went into Calabar grill with low expectation. The space was clean and cozy. The food was great. We had the fish pepper soup, roasted tilapia and roasted plantain. It was flavourful, well spiced with authentic Nigerian spices. Service was superb and I will be going back for sure.

Overall this place is way overpriced. This was my first time ordering from Calabar Grill. The Jollof Goat was mostly rice and the 3 pieces of goat were mostly bone. The Mixed Surya was dry, too salty and way overpriced ($22). The “fried” yam was baked and dry. The only enjoyable parts were the jollof rice and the sauce that came with the yam.

First of all, the customer service is on point. The place is clean and beautifully decorated. I can't wait until after covid to come here and eat some fantastic food.

Ordered from this place using Ubereats at least four times and I have been very pleased each and every time.

1) The suya is moist and tasty.
2) The egusi is very tasty although it doesn't have the amount of greens (spinach) I am used to. Probably a different style but the taste was excellent.
3) The Edikang-Ikong was plentiful, delicious and well endowed with meat. Not a surprise here given the name of the restaurant.
4) The banga soup was phenomenal and also well endowed.

Never been disappointed with the food I ordered from here. I pity some women who will lose their husband's appetite to this restaurant.chai!

Cons - they always seem to be out of Jollof. That's the next thing I want to try when I can actually order it!
