Cambridge Movers Good Ol Boys Moving

Moving is always stressful and without a few hiccups. I had a few and after talking to Nicole she acted quickly to resolve them for me.

I suppose a gay couple should know what they’re getting into when they book with a company called “Good Ol’ Boys, ” but they were the only company we could find who allowed us to weigh our own things and estimate based on that, rather than assume every two-shelf Ikea bookshelf we owned weighed 75 pounds. We thought we were getting a great deal, and I could suck up being called “the wife” over the phone. (Seriously, it’s 2023, Jesse: my voice might be a little more Nathan Lane than John Wayne, but when my spouse repeatedly corrected you to “partner, ” you met him halfway somehow with “girlfriend. ” I don’t even understand the logic.)

Other than assuming I was a lady, Jesse was really nice to us right up until the move began. He even guaranteed us that unlike other companies, our things would stay in one truck from the beginning to the end of the move. This was a big reason that we chose Good Ol’ Boys.

What we didn’t know, and what everyone reading this should know, is that Good Ol’ Boys Moving, Inc.is not the company that will be actually moving you. Apparently Jesse is the “salesman, ” and contracts out the work to whatever yahoo he can find. But we didn't realize this until much later.

The yahoo (driver) who gave us a three-day window and showed up on the fourth NIGHT with a U-Haul, in the dark, only because we insisted that he get us moved before the new family showed up in our house, worked for Collins-Mehling.

Jesse, from Good Ol’ Boys, couldn’t do anything about that, because Jeff didn’t really work for him. Go look at the average two-star reviews of Collins-Mehling. It’s a wild ride, and if we’d had their name to search, we’d never have booked this move with either company. Literally everything other people complain about in those reviews, we experienced, and worse. I’m not going to recount the entire poor experience with Collins-Mehling here, because this isn’t a review of them, but it reflects incredibly poorly on Good Ol’ Boys that they partner with them. But if you're curious, we're definitely reporting Collins-Mehling to the BBB and will be leaving a scathing review.

Jesse couldn’t do anything for us at the other end of the move, either, when Jeff decided (without even exiting the truck parked on the highway) that he couldn’t get into our (straight, on a huge acreage, with plenty of room) driveway with a semi and drove off in a huff with all of our things. Jesse’s only response was that we’d have to e-transfer to Jeff’s personal email $1700 for a shuttle and that it was about the time and energy of the crew, plus the rental of a U-Haul. That makes three separate vehicles, not one, from the beginning to the end of the move. And Jeff showed up with a truck and cargo trailer, not a U-Haul, so we don't know where that money went.

Jesse, you’re a nice guy, but you work with a company that partners with terrible, terrible people (more about that in the Collins-Mehling review, but the TL;DR is: violent, threatening, and possibly homophobic). I’ll give you two stars for trying, and it feels generous. I started with three, but after watching Jeff throw our boxes from the truck onto the ground and leave a mess in our driveway of shattered Rubbermaid totes and the plastic wrap he tore off of things before putting them in our house, I think you ought to take more responsibility for the move than that.

The first contact we had with you to inquire about your services had given us hope that we'd found a guy genuinely interested in helping us move across the country safely and efficiently. We're astronomically disappointed that you pawned us off on someone who was the exact opposite of safe and efficient - to the point of irresponsible and dangerous. Shame on you for not vetting your contractors. And even more shame thrown your way for not even trying to do anything about it when we voiced our concerns throughout the process.

In 2020 they gave us 10% off to review before the move. Red Flag. If they would like I can go in to much more detail or just take the 1 star. I did speak with Nicole after to explain the issues and she apologized. I was not seeking anything in return. Short answer, 1 bedroom move went hours over time (extra paid) and I had to help load the truck while one fella smoked and ate a slim Jim. I didn’t cheap out and paid for exactly how much time they recommended. It still wasn’t enough. Last move was chairs into the basement which caused a decent amount of damage to my walls. I had to return the following day to my apartment and solo move about 4 hours. I still tipped fairly. I just hope they are doing better.

We used them to move from Ontario to Saskatchewan, our move was a month late where no communication throughout was provided I had to phone numerous times, and then we were out of the country when the move eventually came we then confirmed that our neighbors will open the house and receive the items but they cannot confirm if it is complete and correct we will only be ablebto that upon our return, after we then returned we found that our couch was broken fridge had dents and parts missing so the ice, water dispenser and light did not work, we had other furniture damaged. When we wanted to claim from insurance they said no our neighbors signed for the move, but we explicitly said they cannnit confirm whether theitems are correct or complete and we can only di that when we return. We are out thousands ito repair and replace or items!

I can’t say enough about the excellent experience I had with Good Ol Boys Moving. After being really let down by another moving company, I was referred to this company and contacted Jeff directly, with very little notice. He went out of his way to help me and get my things from BC to Ontario. He was communicative, gave me notice in advance of delivery, everything arrived undamaged, and the crew was great. Overall a really excellent experience. Recommended! (And thank you Jeff!)

We chose Good Ol Boys moving company for our big move from Ontario to Alberta and could not have been happier with the service we received. Jesse was a down to earth person, I never felt pressured and he was open about costs. I had heard horror stories about spiralling costs and prepared myself for the worst. Jesse was communicative throughout, always answered my texts and was easy to deal with.

On the day the crew were late and it did cause a few inconveniences for us but honestly they were such a great crew and it was clear to see that they took care with our belongings, wrapped everything properly and likely why they are not as punctual as one would like them to be. They were friendly and professional.

On the other end we waited and received great news, the weigh-in was actually under the estimate and so the costs were going to be less than we had been quoted for. After an expensive move, this was welcome news! The truck took 15 days to arrive, within our quoted time and the crew from their sister company Collins-Mehling handled the delivery. Such a good group of guys and were professional, polite and fun. Our belongings arrived safely and there have been no casualties that we can see thus far!

Excellent 5-star service and most reasonable charges. They came on time and shifted everything swiftly and gently. They even used runners so that our house won't get dirty in the process. I'll recommend them to everyone!

We reached out to Good Ol Boys moving and Jesse Betts was our salesman. We informed him we're doing long haul move from Ontario to Alberta and he said no problem. We told him we need our stuff on May 1st or 2nd therefore they came and picked up all our items 2 weeks before we even left Ontario. The sketchy thing was that he sub contracted us out to another company without even notifying us. We sent a deposit, got the quote on Good Ol Boys moving paperwork but on the arrival date it was another company & truck that was loading our stuff.   That is when we found out we were subcontracted and was not notified in advance of this. Is it legal to subcontract without informing the client.is it a breach of trust & set expectations. We paid expecting to get the service done by Good Ol Boys moving but instead got a -1 star and twice was liable for dissolution company that had all our property and motorcycles. The worst part.we got our stuff over 3 weeks after the guaranteed delivery time span given at the very beginning. This was by far the worst experience we've ever had. If Jesse informed us in the beginning that he was sub contracting us out, we would of declined and spent our money with another company who didn't subcontract without notifying their customers.   We will be reporting Good Ol Boys/Jesse Betts to the BBB. We've already spoken to the police and now reaching out to our lawyers. It's sad one person has completely ruined the reputation of Good Ol Boys moving. Please read the 1 star reviews left from others, you can see a pattern. I will not go into details with the amount of stress, problems and damages done by the company he sub contracted us out to (AMS Transportation Services INC.) here but more details of our experience will be on their review. This is also Jesse's "long haul guys" so be warned that any long distance moving will be subcontracted out to this company

EDIT TO YOUR RESPONSE: I also see you deleted and typed a new response. AMS is aware that there was damages. We refused to sign the paperwork until it was edited and stated on the contract damages were done and spoke to the driver and a lady on the phone which both were aware on the day our items were delivered. Please don't call me a liar when your subcontracted company didn't inform you. I'm doing this to raise awareness and make sure no one else will get taken advantage of.

This is the first time using this company. I have used recent companies over the years and feel I need to express my gratitude. As I looked over the previous reviews I noticed that a majority of the customers had may have left out some critical information. So here is my honest review. Customer service was a pleasure to deal with. I had a very short notice to find a company. They where quickly able to accommodate my needs. The day of the move, Fuller called early to confirm the address and they arrived on time. We discussed the plan and after that they started the timer. Everything was layed out and detailed to understand. Immediately they started working. Johnny and Fuller were fast and extremely efficient. I have very large delicate items and without asking they protected them all quickly. They where polite to my children and family. The execution of the movements were honestly flawless I have king size beds and they are extremely heavy and hard to move in tight spaces. I was IMPRESSED. The equipment and truck they had was very nice. The truck is new and clean. They laid out floor protectors to keep everything clean. Once the move was complete I spoke with Damian and he was soooo polite and really made it worth my time. Nothing was damaged in the slightest including the furniture and the home. The price was so affordable. Even tho I have moved outside of Cambridge about 40 minutes away I plan without hesitation to use this company again. Thank you so much Good Ol Boys as my experience was no stress and a very positive experience. My last comments are if you provide the proper information your going to have a great experience as well.

Peng was amazing. So professional, on time fast and kind. First time using this company and he was super organized and did a great job helping me move from Toronto to an hour out of it into a storage unit.

He was very fast, very quick and very well organized. And did a great job organizing my storage anyway. He was really fast and swift can ask for anything more!

Jessie and his crew were amazing to work with.they were friendly kind and thoughtful.we liked that Jess came to our home first to see what was going in our move, gave us a quote. Jess and his crew packed up our items so well it was over kill never seen this much care in a moving company before. We would give this company a 10 star.they moved us from Cambridge Ontario to Middleton Nova Scotia and there was not one thing broken.highly recommended

Nicole was very pleasant and professional setting up the move for my parents.
The 2 gentlemen that came yesterday to do the move were very polite and pleasant. The furniture was professionally wrapped in moving blankets to avoid damage.
I would definitely recommend this company.

The guys were great! They called ahead. Arrived on time. Carefully wrapped everything. Disassembled and reassembled furniture that needed it. The move went super smoothly from booking the truck to packing and unpacking everything on the truck! Very professional and friendly! Easy to work with! Would highly recommend them!
