Always a great experience. Kids really loved the space exhibit and walking around looking at all the different planes
27 August 2023 19:51
Our 3 year old loves it here! They even offer flights above downtown which was a huge hit.
14 August 2023 22:33
What an incredible place to visit! So much to see and do - and up close. Truly an exciting way to learn about some of our amazing history.
Our time there was the genuinely the highlight of our vacation.

If you have the opportunity while there ~ Go on one of the plane tours!
You won't regret it!

The place was wonderful for any1 interested in Avaition. I loved the World War planes. Due to covid they have cancelled in person tours including the plane rides. Thanks

Very happy to visit this historical place I been educated about the evolvement of aviation industry during history time line
12 January 2022 15:17
The museum was pretty neat and have a good range of exhibits but for the price we paid i would expect more. They had the second floor closed off and some exhibits hidden due to restrictions so they should have provided a discount on the tickets instead of charging full price like street fraudsters.

This is the most amazing museum I had the chance to visit. Ok, I am a huge aviation fan, but still, this museum is so great.
I was like a kid in front of every single plane, helicopter and fly.things:)
I had so much fun in the space area, almost touching the sky and seeing myself has an astronaut, spationaut or cosmonaut. Like a dream coming true.
I booked and helicopter tour of Ottawa with Heli Tremblant and had another tour in a small plane. That was super fun.
I ended up having a bite and a drink at the cafeteria, and also bought some souvenir at the store.
Such a great place to spend a day, or even an afternoon.
I definitely recommend.

It's definitely #3 in terms of the ingenium museums but it's including in the membership so worth a visit.
24 December 2021 6:15
It was absolutely a great experience. Some of the planes were unique model tha you would never see anywhere else.
20 December 2021 12:34
A super great collection of airplanes and space to see and it is worth to go 2 days because there's so much to see and great staff
15 December 2021 1:15
Beau musée. Stationnement payant.
Beaucoup d avion surtout canadien.
Très grand. Belle visite
14 December 2021 15:33
I love airplane museums. When we arrived to find out that we should have pre booked I was very sad. That was only briefly as they put us in a line that within ten minutes had us paying for tickets and gaining admittance anyway. So huzzah! The number one reason to go here is to see the remaining piece of the Avro Arrow. What a sad reminder of Canada's potential greatness in the fighter jet industry. There are tons of other cool aircraft and artifacts though. One really neat display is how different types of landing gear operate with moving models. The reasons I can't quite give the museum 5 stars are 1. The maze you are directed through is a little bit non sensical in the order you see things. You get a bit of old and then some new and then cutting edge and then old and then medium. 2. Much of the space exhibit (I think the upstairs was all space) was all closed off. And 3. Lots of the interpretive signs were poorly lit and therefore hard to read. It is still well worth making the trip out.
08 December 2021 11:08
Fantastic history, with a great focus on Canadian aviation. Also like that you can catch a city flyover in a small plane right from the museum
04 December 2021 20:25
Fairly large collection, but many of the interactive exhibits are closed “for your safety”. Proof of vaccination and a mask are required for entry; we’re as safe as can be.
17 November 2021 2:26
The museum has some items you will not be able to view anywhere else, like the Canada Arm 1 and the cockpit of the Avro Arrow so that was amazing. It did appear fully booked, but they did have space for us to enter, which was awesome. The reason for 4 stars is the flow through the museum felt a little out of order and the upstairs (science) portion was closed.
09 November 2021 6:45
The staff was very informative! Karen went above and beyond to share knowledge and provide a fun environment! Parts of the area are sectioned off but it is still a great time!
06 November 2021 12:05
Guided tour by Erin was educational and fun. The museum’s collection is outstanding. The hangar was a nice surprise.
05 November 2021 18:55
31 October 2021 8:02
A bit dreadful not to be able to buy a ticket at the place and had to reserve one in advance online, aside from that everything else is good.
16 October 2021 4:48
Great place to visit. I feel like a kid every time I go. HIGHLY recommend visiting if your are in the area. Like any place right now, book your tickets ahead of time, and the museum is also closed on Tuesday.
14 October 2021 4:30
A great museum to visit if you're into Aviation. Very friendly staff. Parking machine wasn't working correctly so they gave me a parking pass for free that was nice. Museum was nice clean fun to visit kid friendly. Also they're following covid protocols stringently.
07 October 2021 20:27
Great collection of civilian and military aircraft and some nice history stuff. Some interactive exhibits were closed due to covid, but still had a good 2-hour visit with timed entry tickets to limit crowding.
07 October 2021 0:55
Incredible museum, with some carefully restored original planes, including one that was fished out of a lake after 40 years! The Lancaster is the best on display. A must see for aviation buffs.
24 September 2021 5:12
First time back since the pandemic.
It felt really good. Our 4 year old was so excited to see all the planes. We were happy to be able to do it safely.

Masking was mandatory and upheld. Staff were present and helpful. Distancing and capacity felt comfortable.

So many awe-inspiring exhibits. We really enjoyed it.
18 September 2021 19:07
2nd floor was closed off entirely so we didn't get to see most of the Space Exhibits. Additionally, anything you could sit inside of like planes & simulators were also closed off. It felt like we got to to experience about 40% of the museum while paying 100% of the price. We left feeling a little underwhelmed which is in stark contrast to other Museums in Ottawa also operating under Covid restrictions.
06 September 2021 12:26
The rating is only because of covid. And will be changed eventually. So much info and so much different types of planes. The downside is that the demo were closed. It would have been nice to get in the cockpits. My experience with my 4yo: we powered through the museum in 30mn: (one day i hope to go alone to really enjoy all of the data available. My son still had a blast and enjoyed watching planes land and take off. There is a picnic area and a playground. Pay your parking wisely. They are airplanes tours available on site.
01 September 2021 14:43
25 August 2021 7:45
We had a great time at this museum. There is so much history. They have olden days plane which had wooden propellers. War fighter planes, helicopters, rescue planes, bomber planes and much more. You can learn about the Canadian astronomical arm or Canadarm, too. It’s great for kids 7years and up!

The Canada Aviation and Space Museum is a fantastic place to go to see Canada's rich history of contributions towards aviation. Within the two huge hangars there are hundreds of displays ranging from a replica of the first aircraft flown in Baddeck Canada (Silver Dart) and others including; vintage pioneer bushplanes built by Dehaviland Canada and Canadair air transport aircraft, as well as Canadian engineered engines built by Pratt & Whitney Canada and Orenda Canada.

There is also many military aircraft on display at this former Canadian Armed Forces Air Base.

Prior to covid, they had special events and education programs lead by volunteers who would share their knowledge and passion of aviation history making a memorable trip for all to enjoy.

Despite the museum's closure due to covid you can still peek into the windows and see the aerobatic Snowbird aircraft on display at the museum's entrance. Then explore the grounds of the museum and see the RCAF's Canadair CP-107 Argus maritime surveillance aircraft on the museum's ramp. The name "Argus" comes from greek mythology for a big monster with a hundred eyes. A very appropriate name since the aircraft was loaded with state-of-the-art anti-submarine avionics equipment. The aircraft also carried an armourment of bombs, torpedos, mines and depth charges. While it is great to see the aircraft outside it is disappointing that the aircraft is not being properly preserved. The aircraft will decay more rapidly by being exposed to UV light and seasonal weather. The fibreglass composite black radomes (the big black bubbles under the aircraft's nose and belly) in particular are more sensitive to moisture and will crack and turn to dust if they are not protected.

I highly recommend you coming to this museum to marvel at Canadian built technology that can be found around the world.

If you like my reviews, photos or video give them a thumbs up and take off eh. Lol

Very interesting museum containing planes from different time periods both from civil and military aviation. Highly recommended to visit during a visit to Ottawa.
02 February 2021 16:29
28 January 2021 3:18
I like aviation and history, so I enjoyed this. When we were there you can also go up in a Cessna for $38/family. I think, maybe double-check.
24 January 2021 21:39
Great museum, but best if your kids can read. This museum is one of three Ingenium museums in Ottawa (the other two being Agriculture and Science and Tech), and it is a fantastic way to get up close to various planes since the dawn of aviation.

I have a couple of young kids, and quite a few of the activities require explanation, so they need an adult close at all times to really enjoy it, which is different from the Science and Tech museum where there are more hands-on, exploratory activities.
14 December 2020 12:03
The Aviation and Space Museum is a family favorite. My children love looking at all the different airplanes and learning about aerospace history. There are different types of airplanes from smaller single engine planes to larger military planes. There are various events and exhibitions that take place at the museum- my children enjoy the Canada in Space exhibition and love viewing the original Canadarm that is on display in the museum.

17 February 2019 10:56
Great museum and really very nice staff! I had a conversation with a man from the museum 3 hours. He really took time to show and explain me the planes and I could even go behind the barriers.
14 February 2019 23:09
Would I Recommend? - YES
Would I Return? - YES

I'm not an aviation buff but that being said I truly appreciated the educational value this place has. I was very impressed with the aircraft on display, the materials they're made from, how they were used, what were their setbacks and how a different model sorted those issues out.
You can take a guided tour, or perouse the displays at your own pace. Either way, it's a great place to visit.
13 February 2019 2:28
Came here with my brother and son and it was great! Lots of things to see and do! Ask about the scavenger hunt for the little ones (and big ones). Lots of really interesting planes from all over the world. Also the ISS /space exhibit is really interesting. Doesn't have great signage to get to it.but really interesting to see. The only downside is how far out it is. Hard to get here by public transit.
07 February 2019 3:11
Been here 3 or 4 times already. I took lots of pictures during each visit. Kids love the 30-45 mins space mission every single time. A place you shall not miss.
04 February 2019 13:13
Super awesome! Fun times. It was great to see a lot of these icons in person. You really don't get to appreciate the scale of these machines unless you get up close and personal with these machines. To see the tiny air frames men would take to the skies in the second world war. Then compare them to the size of a CF18. Wow.
22 January 2019 13:25
As a kid I've always been interested in aviation and this museum was definitely a part of that.

There's helicopters, planes, drones, rockets and the history of each one.

What I love is that theres a flight simulator that's inside a plane (a demo one) and you get to learn the bare minimum basics of flight.
09 January 2019 18:38
We visited the Red Bird flight simulator. It was a great experience. Got to fly a Cessna from the museum to the airport. Really fun. Would definitely do it again. Great for any one interested in planes. We are in our late 20s and had a blast, but I could see people both younger and older enjoying.
08 January 2019 14:51
Excellent museum. Incredibly helpful, and extremely knowledgeable staff. I've been studying aircraft for 30 years, and was taught many new things during my tour. The exhibits are superb, and in many cases unique. It also had a very good display of the development of aircraft structures. The display of synchronisation of WW1 guns, was the easiest to understand I've seen.

I have visited this museum several times. First when I was a kid myself, then as an adult and now with my kids. Kids of any age can enjoy this museum but this last visit our kids (8 & 10 years old) really started appreciating more in depth the history of flight, aviation & space. The museum is clean, well organized and has a restaurant. Main disappointment was having to pay for parking. The museum is away from the city and has a dedicated parking with plenty of space.but they charge 3$/hour for parking.
01 January 2019 20:12
When we went they had a really good children "space exploring" activity. They have a lot of interesting exhibits, but nothing seems newer than 30 years old. It seems all quite out of date, and there is rarely anything fresh. My biggest peave is that there is no real cafeteria, so you have to bring your own food, unless you are ok with inedible basic premade sandwiches or a cup of soup. The Science and Tech Museum 10 minutes away has a nice caff and the museum is now awesome after they rebuilt the whole thing a couple of years ago.
31 December 2018 13:05
30 December 2018 3:52
It's a very nice thing to see, definitely worth it.parking is not expensive ($8 for the whole day), but the machines only accepted cash on the day I went.
28 December 2018 8:59
Great museum, just wished it had better access to public transit, and the pathways cleared of snow in the winter, had to get off the bus a 15 minute walk away and push my daughter's stroller on the road because the sidewalks weren't clear of snow
27 December 2018 17:41
Rather expensive for a 2 hr museum tour. The most interesting section is the space section. Don't pay the all day parking fee, 2 hrs is likely what you need (buffer included)
14 December 2018 23:38
A great place to visit. Lots of aircrafts, many interactive activities that would be interesting to children and adults alike. Whether you're a big fan of aviation history or just looking for a place to spend some free time with the kids this is a excellent choice. Strongly recommend.
07 November 2018 0:02
Great museum for anyone who loves planes and wants to sit in one to press all the buttons (children love it). It's easy to spent lots of time here learning or making quick visits with the kids to burn energy.
