Canada Border Services Agency - Windsor Port of Entry

After an 8 hour drive for our planned trip to Canada, we were stopped at this point of entry and asked to come inside the inspection area. Once the officers finished searching our vehicle and luggage, we were then asked to step inside for further questioning.

After 2 hours inside, being interigated and having my personal device searched, we were finally able to leave. The only issue was they asked us to return to the USA with no reasoning or explanation as to why we were denied entry into Canada.

My best guess is the staff on hand didn't want to extend their stay beyond shift change. So rather than explain the denied entry or why it happened in the first place, they just sent us on our way instead.

This was a frustrating experience to say the least after planning in advance and making the drive. IF we decide to visit Canada again, I guarantee we will be choosing another point of entry.

Reading the reviews I see others had similar experiences. I'm a big fan of the police (in America anyway). Big on law and order and complying with police (who in turn are almost always very respectful and professional). But wow these Canadian border officers are totally getting their power trip rocks off in their government jobs. Totally needless, when people are complying with all requirements.

Welcome to Canada-not. Felt more like a totalitarian police state.

I was in a group of people and I was one of two people held back by Boarder patrol. Never got a reason why. But they were very professional and figured out whatever it was. Everyone working at the crossing was very pleasant and in good spirits. Very welcoming group of individuals. I love to visit Canada.

The worst border crossing to come into Canada.the officers ill treated me and my wife, and charged duty on declared goods as a new permanent resident. They did a good job on making us regret the move and showed how Canada welcomes new economic immigrants. Since the move, only thing that I've been wishing is I hadn't. Anyone saying why you can't move now, it's not that simple for working class unfortunately: (. Never to this border crossing and a big no to the bureaucracy in CBSA.

My first and last time I go through Canada. Yesterday, my wife and I wanted to drive through Canada from northwest Indiana to Nigeria Falls on a trip. It was the worst mistake ever answered every question, then got sent to a car port where 4 agents were waiting. Telling us to get out the truck show your hand and all that. They proceeded to dig through all of our things and being rude and disrespectful. Never in life have I ever experienced this.from a fun trip to a nightmare.

My wife and I went there on the 6th July 2023 to Flag Pole. While there all the officers we very pleasant and courteous. The place was buzzing yet the officers kept a calm and professional demeanor throughout.
We were treated in the most professional and respectful manner. The Officer that interviewed us showed a very high of level of knowledge, professionalism, empathy, patience and compassion. He reviewed our case without bias but only on the documents presented.

While there was a wait, all lanes were open & personnel were invariably polite. They now have wireless DL readers, like U. S. Customs so if one holds their license up the system will read it so as one rolls up to the booth the agent's screen is already populated with all one's info. Speeds up the process significantly

Rude and unprofessional towards fellow Canadians. I would like to remind you that you serve the people, NOT the other way around. If you don't like your job, quit, we are not keeping you. I'm ashamed these people are the first sight that visitors see of Canada. Absolutely embarrassing!

I have been crossing the border for a little over 22 yrs.now: daily, for work. Nexus is a big part of making it possible.so when one of ONLY two (yup, busiest North American border crossing and that's all we have) Nexus Customs lanes is moving cars at 1/4 the pace of the other.well, let's just say it is hard not to ask the question: have you never heard of SLA before? That's right, does Canada Border Services even understand what Service Level Agreement means?

A 2-hour delay at 0530 to check a curtain side trailer of cut stone they could just open a walk-in door and look at... Is an unacceptable waste of time and tax dollars.

Immature, rude, and abuse there power. ALSO dont go there at night because they aren't nice when bored.

One border patrol agent was rude and unprofessional for no reason. Most agents, however, were nice and friendly as they helped the people coming through.

They barely know their own laws and rules when it comes to hunting regulations.they made me pay for my firearm license within the 60 day period and online it states it should be free.they were rude and disrespectful and it makes me not want to hunt in Canada anymore. I can spend my money and time somewhere else

Four stars because I get treated better as an American going into Canada then going back into my own country. But for goodness sakes, open those new boots already!

Bad experience from custom people’s I buy $60 dollar cigarettes from USA they tax on it $89 if we can’t pay then they seez this cigarettes they seez mine cigarettes I said I don’t wanna pay $89 some officers the don’t know how to talk Canadian people who lives in Canada

The officers are rude and paranoid. Many times I harrased with a lot of questions as commercial truck driver. I stopped crossing border.

Back ups because of incompetency effecting hundreds of drivers trying to do their job. Never enough booths open to cover the traffic building up. Endangering lives of people on the other side of the bridge when the backups hit the highway and trucks are sitting still on a freeway with a speed limit of 55 m/h.

Absolutely nothing good to say about the canadian border services, terrible.

Don’t get angry with me for not being able to hear you when you’re mumbling quietly in your booth. Very rude and unprofessional.

I can’t give 5 stars because it was uncomfortable answering 21 questions back to back when the Gaurd has my info. I do give 3 star because they are just doing their jobs. I am happy to know you can enter without a pass port, but you need some form of USA or Canada ID.

They should open more booths, sometimes the wait takes an hour or sometimes even 2 depends on what time you going. Truckers I would suggest to go in the night between 12 to 4 am.

Serious waste of tax-payers' money. Some guards do not even speak English! I think I met people who speak better English in Mexico than this place. SMH.
