It is like going to the DMV, expect grumpy government workers who view you as an inconvenience. Did not leave a good first impression of Canada.

Clearly needs more training in customer service. There is absolutely no reason to be rude unless that's just who you are, and I'd hate for you to come home to me everyday! Older guy with a rotten attitude and wouldn't even stamp our passports - "We don't stamp American passports". Just a simple day trip to Thunder Bay from Grand Portage, MN. On the return, the US Boarder Patrol was AWESOME! We told them that the "Canada guy" was a prick and he laughed and said "Yeah, we hear that alot'. That's twice we've entered Canada (Other was Sault Saint Marie, MI) and both times Boarder agents were jerks.

So anyone taking their kids across the border without another parent having a text conversation isn't good enough. If you don't want to be brought in for questioning take a letter with their mothers driver's liscense for further proof. Otherwise border patrol was very professional and nice.

Been crossing at pidgeon and Warroad crossings for over 30 years and never had any issues. Always had all the paperwork in order and directly answered questions, was always polite, and in return the people at the border responded in kind. It is the same going up as it is returning. Just pay attention to what you are allowed to bring into and back from canada and you should not have a problem
