We've been coming to this location for years and have always gotten pretty decent service. We made a pretty wild gaming computer from the ground up, monitor, keyboard, mouse the case and all the internals. Here we are today buying a modem & router. Decent service and knowledge.

Excellent service yesterday! I received so much assistance in getting a product that would enable my laptop to display onto two monitors. The technician took the time to test the product with my laptop in store before picking the correct item.

This is just about the best place in down to get all your computer bits and pieces. It can sometimes be tricky to get some help, but once you get an associate’s attention they tend to be plenty friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are in line with online vendors. I like that you can order from one of their other locations and pick it up locally. You can often get an excellent deal on refurb and demo laptops, easily beating online sellers.

Prices are good, quite good selection. Also had a good experience with online purchase.
But after I visited the place I have mixed feelings. Big space inside used in unoptimal way. Feels abandoned except small area where laptops are presented.

I switched this rating from a 1* to a 4* based on the assistance that I received from one of the store managers, Jay. He was more than helpful and accommodating. For a full 5* I would recommend that Canada Computers change their return policies, something that is outside of the purview of the people working at the store level.

It's not bad. I don't like how they never ask at checkout if you're a rewards member so you have to remember yourself to mention it to get the points. Every other store always asks.

Staff not at all friendly and polite. I purchased an item worth 2K and the guy at the billing showed an attitude as if I am getting a $1 iced coffee. (no offence to iced coffee)
I had to ask for the invoice and warranty. The customer service over phone is terrible. Will get multiple responses each time, with an excuse that the staff are new and on training.

The staff were nice if you could actually get one to acknowledge you. But when they didn't have what I was looking for they told me they could order it in. I bought something that would do the job while I waited for the thing I really wanted to come in. They told me if they recieved it within 2 weeks I could return what I initially bought and just buy the new item. I assumed they didn't call me within 2 weeks simply because they didn't want to have to take a return and make more money off me. But when they told me 3 MONTHS LATER to tell me my item was finally in but that I only had 24 hours to come pick it up or they'd cancel it was dumbfounded to me. I won't be going back that's for sure. It's not hard to find stores that sell parts for computers.with so many competitors out there I would have expected better service from such a well known company.

Terrible experience. We went in a week ago and ordered two monitors that were marked on sale. Came in to pick them up and were told they were not on sale and that they would not honor the sale price. Very disappointed.

The curb side pickup line basically doesn’t move at all. It takes up awards of ten minutes to process each pickup order for some reason.

Expect to wait 30 min even during off-peak hours.

Bring a book.

The shop tried to sell me used (several clear signs of that) video card while new one was listed, ordered and paid for. Tried to convince me that I opened the box and now it's final sale, even though I bought it a minute ago; that was frustrating. After further arguing was able to return it. Certainly didn't worth driving here for 100km+. Looks like a bit odd experience with Canada Computers, usually it is better in GTA.

Just tried to return an item I purchased before the lockdown in Ontario and was told they would not accept it because it had been too long, even though the store was actually closed. Somehow I was supposed to have "curb-side pickuped" my return. I think that is a shaddy practice and is taking advantage of people during the pandemic. I will not purchase from Canada Computers again,

Great selection of parts and prices, but experience ruined by rude staff that are clearly on commission and extremely vender biased/misleading.

Know what you want, and deal with the staff as little as possible. Had a staff member laugh at me and question how my PC even boots up because I was using budget RAM sticks.

EDIT: review upgraded from 2 stars to 5 stars. The new manager, Andrew, is very nice to work with and he actually cares about the customer. A very refreshing experience compared to former managers that have worked there.

Usually an okay store to deal with however during lockdown they're order picking times are absurd. If you need to order something for pickup I suggest another store. Super slow.

I had a great experience with this location. I ordered online and was able to pick up my order within 24 hours. Was messaged that my order was ready and was able to pick it up quickly and easily.

Ordered a Seagate Barracuda 2TB hard drive from this location during lock-down. Arrived as defective, and I sent an exchange request for this product. It took a month for them to respond. The deadline for the exchange/refund was two weeks.

The worst store I ever met. Request a price protection online because pandemic, customer service responded one week later after store hour which the day end of promotion, he said I should ask store.went to store next day but the local store said it has already end the promotion, nothing he can do. What kind beautiful trick they played.

Most staffs are nice but some of them aren't too friendly. For some reason, everytime I went the store are pretty unorganized. Besides that, I ordered a laptop and a few components for my PC and they never reach out to me once the parts arrived until I call them.

This has to be one of the worst CC locations. When you purchase something there, they will ask if it’s ok to email you a receipt. Be careful as my receipt did not include the sales tax on it. An official receipt will indicate the sales tax because its essential for tax purposes. Very shady practice. When I questioned them about this they blamed it on the “Head office”. Also they have very little product on display. All In all, it makes for a bad shopping experience. The Cambridge location knows what’s up.

I dealt with Candace today for curbside pickup. She was incredibly rude when I arrived to pick up my order. I had driven in from 30 min away. When I arrived I was the only one in the lot. I asked Candace if she could please get my order since I was the only one there and she made me wait outside anyways for the full 30 min for no apparent reason. I was early because I misread the email that my order was ready. I did not realize that I would get both a confirmation email and an email stating the order was ready. She rudely explained that to me too! I learned alot today, Candace.
When I said I wanted to speak to a manager he was conveniently on break and would not get him. Candace rudely said "Sorry other customers are rude so im short with everyone". I hope you love retail and minimum wage jobs, Candace.

Waiting in a lineup in the freezing cold for over a half hour is unexceptable. Can't pay online for orders. And they don't actually do curbside, they don't come to your car you have to stand outside. They don't accept cash on top of it.

The worst curbside pickup. There's a long line for pickup but only one person working. Sending confirmation and then making people wait in line isn't helping with covid. Should send pickup times so don't have a large gathering in the lineup

Best for computer things but pickup process is very slow, have to wait 2 hours approx.to pickup even small usb cable. But that also due to COVID precations otherwise it is best.

I purchased a laptop and came to pick it up. On my way out, I noticed that the box was open. I rushed to the customer service. The staff was surprised and stared checking in the system if this laptop had been sold to someone else. I asked for a closed box no matter what the status of the open box laptop was. That's when the staff person began to patronize me, treat me like I knew nothing, like I expected something that I didn't pay for while they were doing me a favour to replace the item. Unacceptable quality of customer service. Please look closely at the original package before paying.

Update (Nov 2018 - Changed from 2 stars to 4 stars) : There has been lots of improvement in the quality of service, staff willingness to help and knowledge of the staff regarding the products they offer. I would highly recommend this store for purchasing consumer electronics.

Original review (2 stars) : Not the best place to go if you don't know much about computers. They are not very helpful with your questions and inquires. Whenever I go there I know what I need, I just go in, pick the item from the shelves and pay for it and get out. However, I have seen people with lower computer and technology knowledge facing some challenges with the sales associates who are not very capable in interacting with people. Whenever I walk into this store I feel like I am walking into a nerd zone.

This computer shop is well stocked. It has all the latest hardware on display and excellent stock. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. The repair shop is superb. If you need hardware or your computer fixed, this is the place to go.
Only downfall is the awkward parking. It is hard to get in and out of the parking lot, due to the location.

I had a very negative experience with this place on Black Friday. I'd like to share what happened.

I walked into the store with the intention of buying a new graphics card & SSD for my desktop computer. I asked one of the clerks what their recommendation was, and they told me that for the game I was playing, the GTX 1050ti was a good choice, and a good price. I then went to do some mobile phone research and found that the card was reviewed positively. I was ready to buy, so I grabbed an SSD on sale and went to checkout. Another clerk upsold me on the GTX 1060 instead, which was a little more expensive but I thought it was worth it.

When I got home and installed my new hardware, I found that the graphics card required a PCIe power cable that my computer did not have. I was frustrated and went back to the store. I asked if they had the cable, and as it turns out you can't just buy the cable, you need to spend $80 on an entirely new power box. At this point I felt deceived and asked to speak to the store manager. After explaining my situation to him, and pointing out that the very same graphics card I just bought was being offered in a bundle that included a new power box for THE SAME PRICE that I had just paid for the card alone, he refused to make any sort of swap for me, or to address the actions that had occurred in any way. Instead he stated "I guess the guy that helped you has poor knowledge. There's nothing I can do".

The silver lining is that the employee who did originally recommend a card to me tries very hard to fix the situation for me. He tried looking up all sorts of solutions for me, apologized, said he didn't realize my computer was an older model (which it is), and all around made a great attempt to help me. Unfortunately he couldn't do anything because the store manager couldn't care less and wasn't willing to accept any responsibility for the event.

I'm giving them a review of 2 out of 5, only because the employee tried so hard to help me out. I would recommend that anybody who is looking to buy new computer parts does so elsewhere, because CC only cares about getting your wallet out and they cease to treat you with value the second your transaction is complete.

Ordered few hundred dollars worth of components over the black friday weekend. The website clearly stated a guarantee that you purchase will be processed and shipped within 24 hours of the purchase confirmation. Almost a full week later, my shipment has not left the warehouse. When I attempted to call the help number, I found out the entire company only has 3 customer service reps, resulting in long wait times. To top all of this off, after 10minutes and 8 seconds, the calling service automatically attempts to get you to leave a message to a full mailbox and hangs up on you. I spent about 4 hours waiting on hold until I was able to actually talk to someone. Once I talked to them, they informed me that one of my pieces is not in stock (even though when I bought the product, the website clearly said it was still in stock). When addressing the rest of my shipment, the customer service rep asked me to forward my purchase confirmation to them so they could investigate. The rep later emailed me basically saying that the warehouse was heavily backlogged on orders and have contacted the web team to remove the 24 hour guarantee and that they apologize for my experience. Although they've contacted a team to remove the 24 hour guarantee, it was still up when I purchased the product. Therefore, I believe that guarantee should have been honoured for me. Almost a week later, I still have no idea when I can expected to receive my shipments. I also can't really cancel the orders and buy from other companies because all the black friday sale's have come to an end. Therefore, I'm either forced to buy a few components no longer on sale or wait an undetermined amount of time for this company to organize themselves and send me the products that they had already charged me for. I would suggest that anyone reading this review use other services or only purchase components in the store and avoid using their online web store.

Helpful staff, but they could take the pickle out of their posteriors. The salesperson's attitude talked himself out of me upgrading the graphics card to a 4k streamworthy because evidently he thought I couldn't afford another $400. Rest of the staff was very nice and knowledgeable, and as such I ended up spending an additional $800 in accessories. Missed the Black Friday PS4 deal, but what can ya do.

Don't expect much.

This isn't the first time it's happened, but this will be the last time it's going to happen. So I've been patiently waiting for some drives to go on sale, and finally, a sale. So I do some comparisons, and I decide to go to Canada computers because the website shows stock, well in excess of what I need, and it's not too far to drive (I'm from Hamilton, the Hamilton store had no stock) - so I figured I'd save myself the cost and trouble of shipping, and just drive out to pick up what I wanted.

When I arrived, the shelf was empty. I re-check the site on my phone. Still lots showing in-stock at this location. So I asked. Lo and behold, the units were there, but to be requisitioned for an internal task or something. So I speak to the manager, noooooo those drives are not for sale. So why are they on the website if nobody can buy them? Because the requisition hasn't been processed.

Great, now I've wasted nearly three hours in traffic to get here, and home, just to end up with nothing. I won't be returning to any CC location. Ever. I suggest that everyone else does the same.

If you do go, set your expectations low. If it's not physically present on the shelf, assume they don't have it. Don't trust the website. And don't trust CC.

I am not one to complain very often, if at all. But I am not very impressed with the service and the fact that they should have a sign up for construction going on in the store, so when you walk in to there store, there are guys working with power tools above your head. The staff were not very patient or pleasant, the product I was inquiring about, and was told and sold, was the wrong product all together, USB Hub, not a charger dock, after clearly identifying what I needed and ask if he was sure that the product he was selling was right twice and was told some stores about how good the product was lol. Had to go back to the store to exchange my product, yet to face more unnecessary attitudes from staff, will never shop at this location again, never. The managment at this store need to get it together.

This is a pretty good place to buy computer parts in the Waterloo region.

The prices are pretty competitive with online shopping and of course, you have the advantage of being there in person. They price match against physical stores. Be sure to pay close attention to their sales when they have them.

Parking can be a bit of a pain during high traffic times and because it is along the side of the building.

The staff appear to be pretty knowledgeable and many are computer enthusiasts themselves, which really helps. They don't seem to be under intense pressure to sell, which is great.

One thing I do wish is that they were open a bit later and that parking was easier during the peak times.

Overall, I would recommend Canada Computers as a place to purchase. This is among the top places to get computer components in the Waterloo area.

This store is my only bad experience with Canada Computers to date. Their customer service and issue resolution is completely useless and basically told me to pound sand because I waited to long to call them out on missing parts.

Context: I brought my PC in for diagnosis. They disassembled and left disassembled, providing my CPU, ram and gfx card in static bags. Everything was loose, but I verified that I had everything - or so I thought.

I deprioritized reassembling the computer due to a long RMA process from the motherboard manufacturer. I stored what was given back to me in parts safely and securely.

I finally completed the RMA and received my motherboard back. Went to reassemble the computer and went to attach my CPU cooler. No screws! The standoffs are still in the slot, but instead of putting them back on or bagging them separately - I didn't have them. I phoned the store and basically it's now on me to figure out how to replace the screws that CC lost. I can understand part of the fault is on me for waiting so long but CC refused to take any blame that they didn't send them back when I picked up my disabled computer.

TL: dr - I paid Canadian computer to diagnose a problem I already had a good idea of, waited to reassemble and now it's my fault parts are lost.

Great job guys, an excellent job building and maintaing customer relationships- it's 2018, and expectations are higher. Do better.
