A few years ago my wife and I leased a timeshare unit from Spinnaker Resorts on Hilton Head Island. Part of the arrangement we negotiated was that maintenance fees would be covered for two billing periods. The resort didn’t respect the agreement they made and proceeded to send us invoices for maintenance fees. Despite all of my attempts to have them honour their commitment I was not able to get anyone to listen. Even when I submitted written documentation validating my claim nothing was done to correct their files. Eventually my file was passed to ICR Limited for collection. I was contacted by one of its agents, Laura Morin who very professionally explained to me why she was calling. I responded by telling her my story and expressing my frustration dealing with an organization that didn’t honour its commitments. Laura was very patient and understanding and offered to help if she could. She asked me to forward her all of my documentation that validated my claim that maintenance fees had been waived. She made no promises but said she would do her best to connect with someone in a position of authority at the resort. Today I received an email from Spinnaker Resorts confirming that our maintenance fees had been paid. This would not have happened without Laura’s intervention. Laura went above and beyond what was expected of her. Both she and ICR should be recognized for their outstanding service.
