Canterbury Place is a lively community. Before my mom moved there, she did not think she would enjoy living in a retirement home. Her opinion of retirement homes changed drastically after moving to Canterbury Place. Canterbury Place is very conveniently located and it is a multi-cultural community where everyone is friendly and welcoming. My mom made many friends and enjoyed many activities there. Suffice to say, it wasn't an easy decision for her to move to a different retirement home after spending only one year in Canterbury Place. She is now closer to family.

I like to mention that both the management and the staff of Canterbury Place were very accommodating before, during and after my mom moved. They did everything possible to make the transition as smooth as possible. We are very grateful for their kindness.

Our family would like to express a big thank you to all of the staff for their help in making our parents' stay at Canterbury Place a wonderful experience. Their kindness was truly appreciated!

Our parents really enjoyed their lovely two bedroom suite, and the amenities - which were recently refreshed.

My Mom in particular participated in many of the varied social events and enjoyed the sense of community she felt there.

Top notch management team with all the skills and experience to take care of your loved ones. The residence is immaculately clean and their expansive recreation options always keep the residents engaged and entertained!

Canterbury's staff go out of their way to provide meaningful programming and activities. They care about the residents and their well-being at every level. The building is lovely with sunny rooms, cosy sitting areas, stocked kitchens and snack areas, areas for all hobbies and interests, and a great location in Toronto. The residents themselves make a lot of friends with each other. A good feeling here.

The team at Canterbury Place continue to create a warm and welcoming environment year after year.

Our mother has been in Canterbury for the past four years and enjoying the accommodations and care from the very attentive staff. The new GM is doing a great job keeping the residences and staff safe during these covid times.

The team at Canterbury Place has been amazing! In the process of moving our mom from the US, during Covid, and carrying out all the logistics remotely, Maureen Gold, and her staff have been exceptional! We are finally able to rest, knowing that mom, is in good, caring, loving hands. Thank you Maureen and the entire Canterbury team for making this happen!

Great location - close to everything on Yonge St and nearby parks for quieter walks.

Very good food choices and residents get surveyed for their input on future meal choices.

While the pandemic has been extremely difficult for everyone, management takes strict precautions to ensure & enforce safety.

The facility was recently renovated and updated, and it's beautiful.

All staff are very friendly and organized.

My 97 year old mother has lived at Canterbury Place for many years. She has always been happy with the staff and programs. COVID came along and life changed and many adjustments had to be made to protect the residents. During the many necessary changes, restrictions and adjustments that had to be made, my mother always said she felt safe there and that everyone was always trying to do their best at all times.

The decision to move our Dad to Canterbury Place was a great one, especially during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Canterbury Place has done a remarkable job at keeping its residents and staff safe. Moreover, Canterbury Place successfully secured 1st and 2nd doses of the Moderna vaccine for residents, staff and essential caregivers in the midst of vaccine supply challenges. While our dad hasn't been able to partake in all the of the activities and emmenities Canterbury Place has to offer, or interact with other residents as would like because of the pandemic, we can rest assured that he is in an exceptionally safe place with access to medical care, exercise, caring staff, and high quality food without having to leave the facility. I would also like to call out Sales and Marketing Manager, Maureen Gold, for her personal attention and responsiveness to our dad's needs when he initially joined the Canterbury Place community.

I have been working for Canterbury Place for almost 2 years now. The staff and residents really make it feel like a family here. Everyone is so welcoming and really made me feel like I belong.

My dad has been here for a few months and we are so happy with the facilities and staff. He is much happier here than his previous retirement home. Would recommend.

Excellent - so happy we found it. My Parents moved here from Peterborough to be close to Family and the staff at Canterbury are so caring they are a solid 5. There was no drama in convincing my parents to move to their new "home" once they settled in (a real relief with 80+ year olds!) very happy. I joined the Canterbury Place family in December as a Sales & Marketing Manager. The managers are always attentive and willing to go the extra mile for residents, and the residents are fantastic. It's a pleasure to work with such a fun group of people and to share this beautiful home with the residents.

Canterbury Place has done an excellent job during this Pandemic and especially on vaccinations! They lobbied and procured doses for all residents and for designated essential caregivers. I can't thank them enough for pushing to get the vaccines, especially for essential caregivers so we can interact directly and safely with our family members. Both of my parents are at Canterbury Place and I am so thankful that as of today! (Feb 11) both my parents and myself have received both doses of the vaccine. Everyone did an excellent job coordinating this massive effort and can't express my heartfelt thanks in ensuring a safe and happy environment for our family.

My grandmother has been living at Canterbury Place Retirement Residence for about 5 years now. Since DAY 1, the staff, the cleanliness, the support and the love, have been second to none. At 93 she still has her independence and enjoys all the extracurriculars this wonderful place has to offer.

My father has lived at Canterbury Place for 3 years now, and he is very happy with the accommodation and staff.

The location is excellent, being right on Yonge Street, a block north of the North York subway station. There is a supermarket within walking distance, and some residents utilize that to help them stay active. There are restaurants everywhere, if one wants more variety.

The entertainment provided is top notch, and the food has been been good to excellent whenever I joined him for meals.

Covid-19 has been a huge challenge both for staff and residents. Management has taken very stringent precautions with Covid-19, and continues to do the utmost to keep the residents safe. Residents have been much more isolated than in normal times, to prevent the spread of any incursion of the virus.

Thank goodness all staff and almost all residents (all who wanted to) have now been vaccinated (not all have received the second dose yet but that's scheduled to happen soon too). Hopefully the activities will be expanded as safety permits in the near future!

Because I help my father with some medical and other stuff, I had to register as an essential care provider which has now provided me with an unexpected benefit: I too was offered to receive the vaccine - which of course I happily accepted!

Fun fact: my father found out about Canterbury Place from me, as I am a member of a community choir (the Choralairs of North York) that performs for seniors at LTCs and retirement residences, and we performed there among other places. I was very impressed with Canterbury and suggested it to my dad.the rest is history!

My father-in-law has been living at Canterbury Place for several years now. He’s very happy to be there and it has proven to be a great choice.
The location is great – right near the subway, a Metro supermarket, and a wonderful public library (though Canterbury Place itself has an extensive library of its own).
The employees are accommodating and warm. A variety of social and exercise programs are available. We were very impressed that management sent out regular email updates to family informing us about things related to Covid procedures and infection controls.
I would recommend Canterbury Place – and in fact, I did to my cousin, who subsequently moved in.

Canterbury Place Retirement residence is an excellent establishment with all the facilities you would wish for.
The staff is friendly and extremely helpful; especially Maureen who made the transition process very easy.

Our dad was at Canterbury Place for 5 years. He was quite independent when he first arrived, but needed a fair amount of help in the later stage of his stay. The staff were always so cheerful and helpful to him, for which we are most appreciative. They are constantly investing in the facility and programs to make it a better experience for the residents. To the staff - thank you so much for all you did to make dad's experience a wonderful one! We appreciate everyone from the front desk to the caregivers and nurses, to the the dining room staff to the maintenance people. You all are wonderful. We would definitely recommend Canterbury Place to someone looking for a retirement residence.

Our family was seeking a retirement for our mom, and when we called canterbury place, mrs maureen gold became the representative and consultant for us, i was so appreciative of all her help and advice, since we do not have any experience in these matters, maureen was such a blessing and able to assist us in every and each way, she has extensive knowledge of transferring family members from rehab centers and from home to canterbury, she will assist to make all the different logistics involved as easy as possible, personally give maureen gold a 5 star all the way, she is a blessing to the resident and the family

This a great retirement community. It is in a great location, has engaging resident activities and great cuisine. Staff and management are friendly, responsive and proactive, A heartfelt thank you to everyone for your hard work and dedication, especially now! I am very grateful for the ongoing care and attention that my Father receives. Keep safe and well!

I have been involved with Canterbury Place for five years now helping an elderly couple navigate this stage in their lives. From the day we toured this residence to the day my friends had to move on to long term care this month, the staff, all staff from managment and nursing to the last PSW, has been kind, supportive and always considerate of the needs of their residents. The patience and hard work, and yes courage in these difficult times, has been exemplary. Canterbury Place is an excellently run residence that I highly recommend to anyone who has come to that difficult moment when their loved one or friends can no longer cope on their own but can still enjoy a measure of independence.

Canterbury Place has been home to my brother for over almost 3 years and I want to compliment the staff on the level of service and their attention to detail that they have provided to him. During this difficult COVID time, they have taken exceptional steps in protecting the residents, providing continuous information to the families by email and have always been available to speak with by phone. I would not hesitate to recommend Canterbury Place to anyone seeking a seniors' residence.

My mother lived at Canterbury Place for 2 years (prior to her recent passing) at 97. She loved the place, the location, the friendly community and the staff.who are simply excellent at all levels and very accommodating.

She took part in many activities (daily exercise class, bridge club, movie nights and the afternoon coffee club). Once she moved in, her spirits lifted and she felt 20 years younger! My only regret is that we didn't move in several years earlier.

Many children of elderly parents are worried about sending their parents into a retirement facility.but the socialization aspect simply rejuvenates many people.my mother was among them. Highly Recommend Canterbury for the golden years.

I have been working at CP for about 3 years, and my favourite part about coming to work everyday is seeing the amazing residents here that call Canterbury home. I am really grateful for all the residents and families I haven't gotten to know through the years. Its refreshing to see staff that care so much about the residents and I couldn't be happier to be around them everyday.

I can't praise the management and staff enough. Canterbury Place has always been run professionally and have kept our loved ones happy, healthy, safe and secure, especially through these changing times. My greatest thanks to the wellness and housekeeping teams, who have treated my mother with the utmost dignity and respect.
