Not sure of their prices compared to other vets, but the care the vets, technicians, and reception staff offer is absolutely excellent

Carling Animal Hospital is an excellent clinic with staff/vets who truly care and treat your pet like family! A top-notch spot that we have used for over 25 years without issue.

Brought both my ferret here recently for their first appointment after moving back to ottawa. Very happy with the knowledge the vets have of ferrets and how they answer all my questions or concerns. Very efficient for time as well!

My Red Toy Poodle, Kelly, has been “loved” at Carling Animal Hospital for ten years. Sheyna.is the “best” groomer! And Cheryl… is a Poodle “fanatic” … like me!

Incredible customer service and veterinarians, 0/10 for the grooming services. I was told my 50 pound dog was unmanageable and had to be medicated in order to be groomed, took her elsewhere with no difficulties whatsoever.

Had a scary medical emergency with my elderly cat a few months ago and Carling Animal Hospital were absolute lifesavers. Reception was so friendly and helpful, and Dr. Bascom was incredible. Not only was she very thorough and diligent, but she was also incredibly understanding of my financial situation as a student. My cat is normally so shy and scared of new people, but was immediately calm with her. I’ve never seen such an amazing vet before. Definitely switching to Carling Animal Hospital from now on!

Every vet there has been wonderful, especially with our older cat who is starting to develop health problems. It’s hard to get a vet in Ottawa right now, but if they can see you, take the slot.

Money hungry clinic. 3 appointments for my cat to find out why he keeps scratching so hard he rips his skin and bleeds and all we get are a bunch of trial and error meds and 10 minute appointments that cost 195 dollars I’ve never seen such unprofessional behaviour at a veterinary clinic save your money and go to a different vet or better yet the emergency hospital for animals doesn’t cost as much as this place does.

I didn't have time to leave a proper review the other day, so here it is: The Carling Animal Hospital is a great place with lovely staff all around. They are all nice, patient, friendly, informative and accommodating. Thursdays appointment for Penny was no exception. They gave us different treatment options, with complete cost breakdowns, which was super helpful. I will continue to bring my current pets and any future pets to this vet clinic. You guys are fantastic.

Been taking my dog here since she was a few months old! She’s now 6 and loves her vet appointments with Dr. Bascom and/or Dr. Johnson. The staff and veterinarians are so kind and really care for your pets.

I will say their fees are slightly higher than other clinics, but their impeccable care for the animals and client service is worth the extra bucks! Highly recommend to all.

I just transferred my puppy to CAH (from another vet who did nothing but up-sell all of her products & services). CAH is amazing! Staff, location, compassion, prices, all amazing! I'd give them a 20 out of 10 if I could. My little Odie loves it there too. He just got neutered & they were great. They called to follow up & make sure he was doing ok. They offered a world of advice & reassurance. They're friendly, honest, clean & they don't up-sell anything. They're solely concerned for the pet. Not filling their pockets. I highly recommend this place!

Highly recommend this vet! Front desk staff are welcoming and patient. Vet tech and vets are professional and knowledgeable. My puppy just got a groom there as well, he looks like exactly like my reference photos. Such a great place for a one stop shop.

They took amazing care of our boy when he went in to have some teeth extracted. In the two years we have been going there they have been nothing but accommodating and conscientious so glad this is our vet.

I’ve brought companion animals to various veterinary clinics over the years, then a friend recommended Carling Animal Hospital, and I’m so grateful that she did.

Dr. Saye Clement and the staff at Carling are always professional, they treat you and your companion animals with care and compassion. Both the vet technicians and the staff have been friendly, compassionate, and considerate. Dr. Clement genuinely cares about her patients and takes the time to explain any medical issues and treatment protocol. I have always felt confident bringing my two guinea pigs to the clinic for yearly checkups and care.

Very happy with the quality of care from the vets, especially Dr. Valentine. She always answers my questions thoroughly, and never makes me feel rushed. She is caring, has a sense of humour and is very knowledgeable.

Always compassionate and considerate care from the vets here. Techs and staff are all wonderful as well. We've been with this clinic for over a decade and several pets.

I cannot say enough good things about the vets and staff at Carling. They are the best. They always take the time to talk to you and get to know your fur baby. I stumbled upon them after trying a couple other places for my bunny. It is extremely hard to find someone who knows how to properly treat bunnies. I completely trust the care my bunnies receive at Carling. Won't go anywhere else.

I wouldn’t recommend for any animal more exotic than rabbits. I had 6 rats and 5 had health issues, when I took them in for any issue I was told they had a respiratory infection and prescribed antibiotics for them. 3 had cancer and ended up having to be put down by an emergency vet and one passed away with no improvement on the antibiotics. I did bring in the other 2 to be put down when their cancer had visibly advanced and they were very nice in those situations but I don’t think they have a vet that’s knowledgeable enough about rats to be caring for them.

Have been going here for many years and am usually completely satisfied - but today saw a vet tech swinging a cat carrier (with a cat inside) pretty hard, banging it around a bit, as she carried it inside from the car. Very upsetting and disappointing. Doesn't inspire confidence, esp since we can't go inside with our pets due to COVID restrictions. Normally this is a 4-5 star place, but this incident shocked me and makes me questions their standard of care.

Had to euthanize a 16 yr old cat.an awful thing to have to do.but the staff were supportive and kind.made the experience so much easier

The staff at Carling Animal Hospital are extremely professional and welcoming. I had heard many good things about this place prior to getting my own cat, so of course, once I adopted my cat I made sure to bring him to this animal clinic.
The staff is so nice and caring and they actually listen to my concerns about my cat and doesn't make me feel like I am overreacting about things I notice about him. Ridge is a very shy cat and much prefers "his people" but he is always content after getting to see the staff at the clinic. The vets take their time explaining the results of tests and/or antibiotic and/or diet restrictions/choices that are best suited for your pet. I have nothing but good things to say about this animal clinic!

Issues of cross selling, Upselling
Issues of time management. Making me wait 45 min for an appointment
Issues of improper vaccine scheduling
Issues of assuming my dog no longer has infection because no symptoms Costing me more time and money

The quality of service is mostly Great but because of Cross selling I have to give a One star. They constantly sneak in more services leaving me with a higher than needed bill. If you're not super knowledgeable expect them to recommend everything they have to sell to you.

Side story: my Dog got giardia. After treatment they said because he isn't showing symptoms he doesn't need his poop checked for the Giardia leaving me uncertain if he is free from it or not.he ended up sick again with me not knowing what's going on I had to rush him in costing me hundreds of dollars.had they just checked to make sure he was clear of the Giardia I wouldn't have had a random $200 check for nothing on top of extra fees in future. Had they checked I would have known he still had giardia and proceed with other or further treatments options without the extra cost

Also if you Have a appointment at 2: 30 expect delays maybe waiting with your car turned on for 30-45 min Than you get in. This is the norm has I have been their 4-6 times in the past 4 months. I don't expect a specific end time to the appointment.but I'm there 15 mins early the least you can do is be on time yourself and not waste my time.which just isnt waiting any more but gas in my car as well.

They also scheduled my puppies rabbies vaccine in the last appointment.so Instead of being able to get his haircut now and have him be near other dogs. I had to wait 4 months till his rabbies vaccine to which I just rescheduled sooner.but they should know that's one you should get right away. Don't know what the thinking in that was.

These are all simple things, which are easily fixed.make improvements and Their easily the Best vet around

Fix the cross selling/ Upselling
Fix the poor time management
Fix the Assuming he doesn't have something anymore because hes not showing symptoms. Actually test for it so i don't waste money or time or get other dogs sick.
Fix the improper scheduling of rabbies. That should always be first

We have 8 chihuahuas and could not be more pleased with the service we have received over the years. Several of them are elderly and not in the best health. The front desk staff are very pleasant and will always greet you with a smile. The doctors are all amazing and take the time needed for our family. I highly suggest Carling Animal Hospital for anyone looking for a doctor who will treat your pet as their own.

They're so great the staff is nice. They even called about a week later to check on my bunny. The only thing is, they're a little pricey. I paid $116 just for a consult.

I just got off the phone with the reception staff. I am having an extreme issue with my dog where he may be having reaction to medication given to him. I was requesting a second opinion on course of treatment and the staff made it very clear to me that not only could she not fit me in untill two weeks from now she informed me that would be too late for my dog.
I absolutely could not believe it. When I asked for her recommendation on what to do to help him, she reiterated that she didn't have anything available. Terrible, terrible service.

The staff is friendly and welcoming. Their vets know their stuff! My dog feels like the queen she is when there! This place was recommended to me and I recommend it to you!

I have been taking my pet rabbit to the Carling Animal Hospital for approximately 5 years. My trips have included regular annual visits and occasional special appointments when my pet is not feeling well. Over the years, I have seen several vets. No matter the vet, and no matter the circumstances, I have been extremely impressed with the care my pet has received. Not to mention the friendly, kind, and compassionate service all the staff have shown me. I would highly recommend the Carling Animal Hospital.

My sweet nervous greyhound has had nothing but excellent care here. Every staff member is friendly and caring, the vets are knowledgable and attentive. They take the time to explain everything carefully and provide a quote upfront. Couldn't recommend them more highly!

The staff here are always amazing, we've been coming for years. The doctors are also able to treat rabbits, which are considered exotic pets and not many places are able to. They are always helpful and take the time to explain our pets needs, especially when we are sometimes crazy pet parents. Extra kudos to them in these hard times, they are still here for us.

On regular non covid-19 times the assistance and doctors get 5from the homemade puppy treats to the cute assistants (especially the one with the dyed and different hair then the rest) and now during pandemic time they have impeccable service following all the social distance rules plus some I'm sure.you go there, call and say you arrived then they have a thorough discussion about your pet and how they have been then the assistants (I was just telling whoever is reading this post about, a few sentences ago) come out and get the puppies (or bearded dragon, chinchillas and the like also) take them and then deliver them back out and you can pay right there too. And I find it much faster then usual times too. The staff here are knowledgable professionals and Ive never had a problem with anything here, and I will recommend then to anyone
PS- The best reptile Doctor in Ottawa (Probably more than just ottawa but i only type What i actually know not assume) works here.

They did a checkup on my dog and didn't notice a very obvious ear infection. Clearly didn't bother to even lift up his ear.
He's an easygoing dog who loves the vet, this was just lazy and unprofessional.
Also recently found out they charge at least 30% more than other vets in Ottawa. So they are both expensive and lazy. Do not go to this vet.

These guys are very pleasant to deal with. I am usually able to get an appointment very quickly and they do the work well and my dog feels comfortable with them.

You know they do a good job when your dog is literally excited to go to the vet as much as my dog.

One thing is the one vet I had was kind of pushy on treatments that I didnt need but I only experienced this with one vet and hasn't happened since.

I love my new vet! I started off by walking in to say hi and ended up setting up a file since they were so nice. Didn't even set up an appointment at the time, just inquired. They are extremely respectful, return calls and emails, and have been a great help. We recently rescued 3 new cats from a man in our neighborhood (we already had 2), and learned that the new cats likely all have FELV. Luckily we didn't introduce them right away, and we're working on getting everyone vaccinated and the male cats neutered (we have less females than males, so it makes sense for us). NOTE: We realize that there are risks with introducing FELV positive and FELV negative cats. Our vet gave us all the information we need to make an educated decision. BUT she didn't make us feel guilty or shame us, just gave us the info and let us decide.

I called in during the pandemic for my rabbit as no one is taking in new clients and emergency time was well over 8 hours. The woman was so comprehensive with my situation. They opened an account for me right away, took down my information and told me they would do their absolute best to help me. She made sure I had all the information I needed to take care of my rabbit in the meantime and what to look for. I was genuinely surprised and grateful. I recommend.

The staff at Carling animal hospital are absolutely amazing! From the front staff at the desk through to all of the veterinarian's I've had dealings with, they have absolutely all been amazing. I recently had to put my loving furbaby to rest and they were so understanding, sympathetic and comforting! There was no rush by any of the staff to leave her until I was ready! Also my son takes his dog there and he feels exactly the same as I do! Keep up the good work! It's difficult to find ️

Needed a vet ASAP, and new to the area.
Loved the service. The staff were quick at getting me in (same day!), welcoming, and even offered me a coffee while I waited.

Saye Clement is a wonderful veterinarian who operates with the utmost care and kindness. She has an excellent team who were all very kind with me and my hairless rat. I know exactly where to go for all my exotic veterinary needs now. Thank you so much! Worth the travel and the medication was very affordable for our boy’s condition.

My hedgegogs have been attending this vet for three years now. Yesterday we had to put our elder male hedgie down, due to health complications. Dr. Johnson and his nurses were really great when it came to welcoming us, explaining our options and just making the situation (a first for me) as calm and understanding as possible. Any other time we had visited for check ups, they were just as outstanding when it came to customer service. I will most deffinatly continue to use and reccomend this veterinarian hospital. They are one of the best in Ottawa.
