The food was good and the portions proportional to the price. We got the BBQ chicken flatbread and bacon cheddar burger. The fries were well done.

Its true from the other reviews that the service is a hit or miss. Looks like college or senior school kids on the waitstaff. So most of them are just looking to get paid. They did get our burger order wrong; had ordered the Swiss melt.

It’s really too bad that this place has gone so far downhill. Went in for dinner and when I told the waitress I thought the meat in my pasta had gone bad, she replied that she wasn’t surprised. When the servers openly acknowledge serving rotten meals to people there’s a serious problem.

The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious! I have never seen such large portions, which is good. The price was justified. The only thing I found funny is that they brought dessert before the main dish, which I didn't mind because I had the brownie but my friend had chocolate ice cream so when we finished our main dishes, it had already melted. But other than that, the employees were very kind. Totally recommend if you're visiting Toronto Island.

The brownie explosion was described as having raspberry, but didn't come with raspberry anything.just 2 pieces of sad looking brownies and an ice cream scoop which costs extra but was included without asking.burgers use processed store bought frozen patties.fries were good tho

Terrible service we are from Mexico and you can see how they have zero patience in this establishment they sat us 10 min before closing and without telling us, they rush us to order and when the food came they missed a hamburger for one of my friends after having an argument about if I ordered or not they said they can’t make it anymore as the kitchen was closed, my grandkids (4 and 6) didn’t even eat as the food was cold, worst experience ever

Worst service I’ve ever had. 2 people’s meals didn’t come out and the staff laughed in my face when I brought it up. Our waitress just never came to the table after? Second bad experience I’ve had.

Solid food and reasonably priced drinks for a tourist spot. Can be hit and miss for how busy it is.

There's an uncomfortable amount of grey mice poking in and out of the cobblestone wall surrounding the patio. We saw a couple of mice several times on both sides of our table and overheard other tables commenting that they'd observed mice aswell. Not sure how much can be done about it, but it was concerning to see them so brazen in broad daylight around 2pm on a Saturday.

Don't order the soup of the day taste like dirty dishwater- no flavour. Fries, poutine, and salad are good tho. Would also not recommend the coffee, tastes like water. Customer service was friendly tho.

What a lot of wasted potential. A lovely setting ruined by poor food and drink and wait staff who clearly don't enjoy their job.

Took a little break here a little while back with my fiance while we were touring the island. Server was fantastic and chatted us up about tourist attractions both here in the city and elsewhere. Cute little location with relaxing outdoor seating right alongside a river with a perfect spot to watch the footbridge. Definitely going back next summer with intent to try more of their food.

Visited here July 2022 on a very hot day. We were brought water right away, which was most appreciated. We only stayed for one beer each but the service was outstanding. The server could see we were over heated and brought us a jug of ice water, which we totally finished. Only gave 4 stars as we didn't order any food but from what I saw it looked pretty good.

Good food. Small menu but everyone found something to enjoy. Loved the salmon salad. Service was very slow, but it was busy. Beautiful spot to eat on the patio by the river

My experience was fine. If there are lots of mixed reviews, it is probably a management problem. Like most of the diners, we were sitting outside with a view of the water. Prompt, friendly service, and the food came quickly. Salmon salad had lots of mixed greens, but a smaller piece of salmon. Veggie sandwich was on a fresh bun with avocado spread, entire roasted red pepper, zucchini slices, bocconcini cheese (and a side of average fries). Prices were reasonable, considering that everything is going up these days. Worth a try.

Ordered a kale cesaar salad that wasn't made from kale. Restaurant was dirty and menu limited.

Some weird policies criteria and management. Cooling system is turn on with 3 to 4 doors continuously opened. Are we not supposed to be more careful about the environment.
I arrived barefeet from the beach and I was right away asked by a grim face manager to put my sneakers on, which I did. Meanwhile a group of girls wearing micro bikini bras can go around in the restaurant without any concern. What kinda policy is that? Okay the manager was a man and he maybe rather looks at girls in bikini but still.

Except from that:

Avoid this place. My family tried this place twice & both times service was extremely slow, food was horrible. Super dry chicken wings, gummy overcooked mac cheese. 20m wait just to pay for the bill. Better off with subway.

We were a bit skeptical as we have noticed restaurants food at tourist attractions has been below par and prices through the roof. This place was the complete opposite. Food was fresh and HOT and also delicious with generous portions. The establishment was very clean, service from Megan was super friendly and very welcoming. Prices were very reasonable! Will definitly revisit when we are at the island again! Great job Carousel Cafe, keep up the good work

We got a table in the shade by the water, the food was acceptable and our server Tahlia was friendly and competent!

Service was great. Very friendly and quick. Good was pretty good. Not sure what people expect for a tourist kind of area, but if you want table service in this area this place is great.

Food wasn't good. Salmon was very dry and overcooked. Fries where hard and dark, as if they were fried several times.
Service was not okay. They didn't care at all.

The only nice thing was the view, but paying that amount for bad food and service isn't worth the visit.

Got food poisoning from this place. Giving it a 1-star because our waitress was extremely nice and attentive.

The service was poor and terrible. We've waited for a long time to take a table. I asked to get rid of water on top of the canopy and they led the water towards me and made me wet! It was the manager - his name is Edward. He didn't even apologized for the incident. I do not recommend this place. Don't visit this place.

Long story short don’t come here…. And here’s why. Service was poor and slow. Waiting well over 20 minutes for both water and the bill respectively. Food was subpar can be easily compared and described as something you can pick up from your nearest grocery store. But most importantly the establishment is DISGUSTING! The walls on the outside are covered in cob webs and have mosquitoes all over the place. The table we were sat at was especially dirty. Please save yourself the time, money and Advil and DO NOT COME HERE!

Excellent restaurant. Don’t let the poor reviews deter you from coming here. The service was excellent, food was great and not too expensive. Ordered the fish and chips which were delicious and was a large portion.
