Server was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable regarding my friends dietary restrictions and made everything super easy! And the food was good too:)

Love their burgers variety on menu Was in on a busy night and was a wait! But was worth it!

The New York Striploin is the best restaurant items I've bought in Peterborough. Never buy well done steak. Medium Rare is AMAZING. The hero is the Peppercorn Sauce. It's a light gravy taste with a medium hint of saltiness & small hint of spice kick. It's super good. I absolutely love the peppercorn sauce with the steak. The mashed potatoes is mushy & great, consistent. The carrots with the peppercorn sauce is superb. Best brocolli I've had at a restaurant. Friendly attentive service as well. Wonderful experience.

The past few visits I've had wings. At this point I wouldn't recommend them. Not fully cooked. Today I had some and noticed that they weren't cooked so I told the server. She agreed to another order but I asked them to be cooked longer. Unfortunately that didn't make a difference. They still came not fully cooked. Stomach pains ensued and you can guess where this ends up. I don't care for paying for food (even if discounted) if it makes me sick.
I hope they rectify this. Otherwise it's a great place.

Overall very good. Food and service was very good. It was hard to find a parking spot outside.

This was our second trip to Castle John's. Great food! Good sized portions. Our server was awesomely helpful, friendly, and fun. Enjoyed our meals!

Was good first time food good prices good would go back staff nice returned took older son thoughtu was really good went again tonight was not so good trout fish dry Shepard pie to much worstershire or some spice hubby could not eat normally really good, steak was awesome and apple blossom dessert was delicious will go again just an off night

Castle Johns was my favourite restaurant pre-pandemic. I've gone acouple times recently and the food seems to be poorer quality than it used to be. Lasagna I ordered yesterday was terrible- the "season ground beef" is season with a taco seasoning and i think there was maybe 1 sheet of lasagna noodle. It was essentially just a pile of ground beef and cheese. I've also gotten a weird mystery soup with an order as well, no clue what it was as it only says "soup of the day" when you order online but the only flavour to it was table pepper. Fettuccine alfredo is good. Also really like the bruscetta.
Nice inside, servers are great. Food is meh. But you do get a lot.

My husband and I came here for lunch and it was very tasty. I got the trio bowl because I couldn’t decide on one thing. The bruschetta, Greek salad and mushroom soup were great. The server was also very friendly and didn’t hover.

Went to Castle John's. Was seated in a booth. 25 minutes went by with not one server coming to me. So I went up to the bar. Not busy at all. Asked the bartender for a beer, she asked where i was sitting, I said the booth. She said a server will bring it to me. 15 minutes go by, stil no drink. What a joke. I left.

The bar manager is a bad person, his behavior is strange and rude.this place is not for good people as the atmosphere is not good.

The prices were high considering i had desert a piece of cake was $7.00. In most restaurants when its a customers birthday u would get it for free. The spinach dip was awful too runny. The atmosphere was nice the waitress was great just over priced on some items. Would go back and order different selections.

We eat out a lot so it's surprising we had never been here before. This was a terrible experience for.my daughter and I. I ordered a burger and a side soup. They charged 15.00 for a burger and 3.00 extra because I wanted soup. On top of this. 75 cents because I asked for Frank's red hot. The burger had no sauce and so I had to pay for condiments. My daughter ordered spaghetti off the kids menu and the meatballs were from frozen. She asked for a dessert menu and was charged full board for the dessert. I was informed of this charge and didn't mind but the rest never even told about. At the end I did ask about the charges and the waitress said it's just what they do. I was so tired from work I couldn't be bothered but I really wanted to just say then we will take fries and the ice cream to go. I don't think I will ever get over being charged for condiments. Too bad we will never be back.

It's on Lansdowne but easy to miss. We decided to try it out and were pleasantly surprised. Great service and food!

Recently ordered take out and had one of the best meals I have had in years. I would highly recommend it. Can't wait to do it again.

The bruschetta was incredible. So were the mini yorkies as an app. Our server, Keaton, helped us with the menu and gave us recommendations. Great service! We will be back.

Service and the environment was nice.
Food was served piping hot.

Starter was prompt, ordered the crab cakes. Main took another 30mins to arrive. Top sirloin, Rib racks and lobster tail.
The crab cake was slightly on the saltier side, not much crabs in it.
The lobster tail on my partner's plate was good. While mine have got an overdose of salt on it, very salty.
Ordered medium rare sirloin, got it served medium well instead.
Rib rack was nice with the bbq sauce. Mashed potatoes and veggies was nice.
Overall an ok place to go to hang out.

I visited recently with my mom and son. All of us enjoyed our meal and the service. Especially happy that they stuck to COVID guidelines hardcore. We will be back!

Castle John's catered our son and daughter-in-law's rehearsal dinner this weekend, and we could not have been happier with the customer service and food. The manager, Gary, was incredibly easy to work with and very responsive to our questions. He was a great help in assisting us with determining both platter quantities and menu selections, and made everything from ordering to payment convenient and easy. And the food? It was fantastic! It was thoroughly enjoyed by every member of the bridal party and family attendees, and we had more than enough to feed our 25 robust eaters (with some left over!).

We had contacted a half dozen other caterers in an effort to get quotes for this dinner, and most of those didn't even give me the courtesy of a call back. Those that did respond declined the business because our group was too small. Not only did Castle John's genuinely welcome our business, they even followed up the day after to ensure the order met with our satisfaction. I would not hesitate to recommend them!

Sitting at my twin sisters and I 25th birthday dinner with my family. We were served by megan. Who was EXTREMELY rude.
We had our two year old nephews who were enjoying themselves, but as one cried a little she couldnt help but to make the comment that they were loud. And then continue to be rude and not listen fully to orders, like walk away in the middle of my sisters order before she was done, then when I asked her excuse me 3 times, she finally turned to me as I said my sisters order, she rolled her eyes at me!
She then brought my meal out before anyone else appetizers and I finished long before anyone else even recieved their meals.
She was so rude throughout the whole ordeal I was crying in the bathroom stall.

So thank you Meghan for a wonderful 25th birthday. Never again

Amazing food. Amazing service. Awesome atmosphere. And a steal of a price. 100% will be recommending to my friends and family.

Brought my mom to lunch today, we arrived at 12: 30 got sat right away which was nice. We sat in a booth in the far back corner. Waitress didn’t introduce herself just asked us what we were drinking. Ordered a coke and water. Then we ordered potato skins, and mozzarella sticks for starters as it was half price apps. Ordered a beer because it’d been 45 minutes without food. Didn’t receive our starters till about 1: 45. Mozzarella sticks were tossed on a huge plate with a handful of shredded lettuce. Food then came about 15 minutes after our starters. My mom ordered $11 fish and chips with gravy, her fish had bones in it. I ordered the $20 ribs and wings with fries. Our coleslaw was crammed on a tiny plate with the rest of the food making our fries soggy, and my ribs were placed on my fries aswell. Had to ask for a spare plate for my bones because one was not provided. Music was too loud, could barely converse to one another. This was our first visit. Maybe we’ll try again once they get more comfortable and in the swing of being busy.

If you want free drinks ask for the manager and buy her one and drinks are free.the amount of free stuff this place gives out its hard to believe they will be open long. Get in before they are gone.

Some of the best wings in town. Large and good selection of sauces you don't normally see (Mexican hot for example). You can also get the wings without breading (naked) if you are watching carb intake. There are a few days where wings are on special (mon, Tues and thurs)
The menu is extensive but not expensive. They've got the usual pub food plus a ton of other items (there is even lobster poutine).
Each booth on the outside has a TV at the table and there are lots of big screens as well so it's a good place to watch the game.
They have $4 pints before 5pm and their 'house beer' stays that price all the time.
A great thing is that their menu and specials are online as well so you can know 'what you are getting into' before you go.

Service was slow. Was there for a birthday. The girl forgot what I ordered and they kept coming over asking if we had ordered apps but we didn't. Took over 1.5 hours to get for. With two little ones under two that way way to long

The food is fantastic. They have great daily specials and everything is reasonably priced. The service is good and our food came out quick.

Usually a great place. However my last Visit they were severely understaffed and the manager was cursing behind the bar so loud my children heard her. No one was clearing the tables. As the manager was seating people she was telling them they were in for a very long wait because no one wanted to work. She was so busy yelling at the poor guy trying to clear the tables. Honestly. I wish I could have fired her.

So food was good. Service left something to be desired. Asked some questions about the menu and was told to read. Ran out of condiments at the table and scotch I ordered was out of stock.

Has potential but need to work on service.

Took forever for food and it was late in the night so we were basically the only ones ordering food. Music is far to loud for the location in my opinion, feel like it should be downtown lol

Service was very very slow. Not saying all servers were slow but the one we had was walked buy us multiple times like we werent even there. Finally got a drink. Ordered wings. A good 30 mins later got wings. Ordered another drink. 15 mins later got drinks. We were there 2 hours for 2 drinks and wings. This place needs to work on customer service.

Just had to share - had a great experience at Castle Johns tonight. Atmosphere was great, food was great, service was great. Our server Steph was fast considering how busy she was (she didn't stop from the time we got there till the time we left). She certainly made our visit there better than we had expected (we will be sure to sit in her section again!). Food was amazing - I'd say, the best wings in town hands down. We will be going back for sure and would recommend to anyone.

Excellent food. Great service, my server was new and did a great job. Food came fast, and prices were fair to very good! I highly recommend this place in Peterborough or when passing through on Hwy 7.

Food good, service good, utensils very cheap, fork bent while cutting some meat. Like any other sport bar, pub. Good prices. Would go again, nothing special.

I have been going to this pub since they opened late December. The menu is extensive, the food is fantastic, the restaurant is very nice and very well done (great makeover from what was there before). The service is great - all of the servers we have had have been friendly and made an effort to ensure we are happy. It was slow when they started but this should be expected as they figure things out - since then, it has only gotten better. They are super busy especially on Fridays and Saturdays and I understand why - there are not too many places a couple can go and pay so little for so much. Highly recommended.

Good food, great prices. A very wide variety menu. Lots of good choices including many poutines! The pulled pork sandwich was a little small for a teenage boy; otherwise the meals were great. We will go back. The place was packed on a Thursday night!

Great new place.big.great value.daily deals. Easy parking.very pub feel. Good location for west end Peterborough. Lots of Tvs and if your into live music they have this as well on weekends

We have been to this Peterborough pub/restaurant several times. I can not recommend this place for dinning until changes are made to layout, service and food preparation.
SEATING: Open concept, layout doesn’t lend to a good restaurant experience. Difficult to converse when the place is busy. (I recommend they renovate again and put higher partitions up around the booths to break up the noise). The waiting area before seating is cramped. This could be alleviated if the host/hostess were to remain at the front to direct new arrivals to a seat. They also need to be more honest with people in regards to the wait time. Tables should be clean and cutlery present for the amount of customers being seated, but this doesn’t always happen. Once I was forced to get up and retrieve my own cutlery.
ORDERING: The menu is extensive and all the food looks delicious. But ordering at times is a disorganized process. I highly recommend ordering drinks and food at the same time. We found that ordering drinks first would extend the time it took to order food by 20min.
FOOD: The food was delicious and presented well, but each time the food took an extraordinary amount of time to be brought back to the table. I don’t know where the break down is. Could be lack of kitchen staff or waitresses not checking order up? We waited over an hour. At times the food was not correct or the order had to be placed again, leaving half of the table without their food order. Depending on the waiter/waitress they will come every 10min or not at all to see if everything is ok. This lack of consistency really harms a business.

Good food in a sports bar type environment. Extensive menu of roadhouse type offerings. Service was pleasant but slow with it being very busy. Arriving at 6: 00 we did not get our food till after 7: 00. By then it was noisy and hard to converse. Previous visit much better.

Great atmosphere, very clean and service was great. Although they didn't have two items we ordered they were very accommodating. Will definitely go back.

From all the bad reviews about slow service, you’d think they would work on that. But nope, crazy flow service there tonight. Really? 45 minutes, and all you had to bring was done chicken wings? While things were slow? Well, at least the people who came after us got their food quicker - before we did, and we got there first. Thanks for nothing, Steph.

I came in on Friday with a group of friends. The menu was huge with excellent prices. Our waitress was Rebecca. She was polite, helpful and quick. Our food arrived hot and tasted wonderful. It is a great little west end spot, and we can’t wait to return!
