So kind and caring. They take the time to answer questions and are very thorough when discussing the issues we are visiting for. The vet we dealt with even took the time to show me where I could find further resources online. Prices are very reasonable as well. 10/10 in my books!

Had to bring our beloved cat Zoe to this emergency clinic due to laboured breathing. They took her immediately and put her into Oxygen tank. The staff is amazing, from the reception folks to the technicians to the vets. We dealt with Dr. Chow, Dr. McLaughlin and Dr Chiu. All fantastic doctors! Dr McLaughlin gave us the unfortunate news that Zoe has cancer, a very caring, compassionate and factual doctor. Everyone there are our furry friends Angel's. They recognize the huge stress us humans are going through in the waiting room by providing regular updates with care & compassion. And this facility is new & beautiful, with lots of examining rooms. I highly recommend this emergency vet clinic. And thank you Cavan Hills staff for looking after our baby, we'll cherish the time we have left with her.

Hands down one of the best places to take your animal to. We had an emergency with one of our dogs, they took her in, gave us the diagnosis, and options on treatment. We’ve taken our other dog as well and both times they seem to genuinely care about your pet. 100% recommend Cavan!

Two visits in the last month, and both experiences have been nothing short of amazing. From reception to veterinary staff, Dr. Berger and his team, we trust them wholeheartedly with our fur babies.

July 2023 update- Cavan has been running primarily off "triage" appointments like an ER and i have not had an option to book an actual appointment since at least xmas 2022.

We have been to Cavan Hills Vet several times over the last few years. They have treated us and our fur babies with respect and kindness. They are professional and knowledgeable. On more than one occasion we've had to rush one of our bunnies in. Not only did the vets save our precious bunnies each time but even shortened the expected hospital stay for one of them. We would never have known the difference if not told. But the doctor called us and told us that our Bunny was out of danger and well enough to come home earlier than predicted (which of course lowered the bill).
I highly recommend this veterinary service. They are wonderful.

Amazing clinic. My brother brought his dog to them in very rough shape, and they did everything they could to help her out. She had an infection in her brain, and unfortunately lost one of her eyes because of it as well as alot of vision in her other eye. But without their care I know she wouldn't be around anymore. They are also extremely accommodating when she needs an appointment. Thank you so much to all the staff for helping Remi get better.

The Vets and staff are great with the animals, they are available 24 hours a day and dont charge emergency fees. They are also already very reasonably priced.

Called to book an appointment and was put on hold for 45 mins. Had to call back then told to call another vet in town. What? !? ! You are my vet! I’m confused…

I was just there with my dog Dudley, Julie at the desk greeted us with excitement and recognized Dudley right away. It made Dudley’s so happy. Dr. Kalish was so friendly and helpful with Dudley’s ongoing ear problems. It was such a nice visit. I wish we could choose which doctor we’d like to see, because I think I’d pick Dr. Kalish.

Heartbreaking Experience. Was refused treatment. Called three times informed not to bring my pup. Was spoken to disrespectfully and in the end, my pup died. Found out that antibiotics would have saved her. So disheartened by this experience. Not what I would call an emergency service provider. I did call to talk about what happened and why after my pup passed, (not that it would matter but wanted to hear some sort of explanation) spoke with a 'Supervisor ' who said she took down every detail to relay to Management and I was told to expect a call back, nothing. Nothing. Beyond devastated.

Our 8 month old puppy passed away unexpectedly and we called on our way to the clinic to let the know we were coming. Upon arrival no-one knew anything about our situation and had to tell them again in front of many other people waiting to have their pets looked at.

They vet tech followed us to our car and confirmed the puppy had passed. They would not look at our other dog that was with us when the puppy passed which made us nervous as we weren't sure what had killed our puppy. They brought us a body bag to put our puppy in but did not offer to help do this and we were left to place the puppy in the bag and zip him up as the other dog watched us say goodbye.

Not enough care is taken at this clinic and our pets are not being treated properly. I was told that they do not inform us of their vaccination schedules or provide reminders for current clients as they are far too busy.

We will not be returning as our pets deserve better.

I have been going to cavan hills for about 12 year I brought my pet bird in same with my two dogs and soon they will meet my new pup I will not go to another vet anyway no matter where I live this place has my trust and they are always wonderful and know exactly what they are talking about yes alot of people have said to me who I've referred them to go there about how expensive it is but I'm willing to pay good care services for my fur baby's

Had the need to use Cavan Hills when my own vet was unable to see my dog. Right from the first phone call I was treated with courtesy and they made time for my dog and I with the caveat that I would probably need to wait. And I did, but rightfully so when so many others are there with their pets in greater need then mine. From start to finish, the staff from the front desk to the vets and technicians were kind and incredible and patient and really went above and beyond in my circumstance and opinion. My outcome unfortunately was a sad one but I was very thankful that they were there and could help when it was greatly needed for my dog.

Dr. Good performed a difficult surgery on my boy with confidence explained possible problems but did an excellent job Shifty is recovering nicely a week later. Cannot thank him enough for his skills and caring. I am so happy things turned out good during a very scarey time. Thank you all so much

Very welcoming and calming environment for you and your pet. Drs here are great and don't push unneeded testing. My first visit her was a walk in appt and they were very accommodating and I was only there two hours. Very efficient operation.

Writing this review to warn others with sick pets. We brought our 5 month old puppy here for an emergency visit. He was lethargic, vomiting and wouldn’t eat or drink. Our initial visit with one of the vets was fantastic we were very impressed by how quickly they were able to get us in. After leaving this visit we had tests completed with results that were suppose to be back in a couple of days, we were very worried and waited anxiously for them. Weeks went by and we did not get any results. We tried calling numerous times where the receptionists were very helpful and would inform us they let the vet know to call us, but we never received a call. Finally almost 3 weeks after the testing Dr. Shand called us. She called us in a very unprofessional matter with no compassion whatsoever, to tell us that our puppy in fact did have a condition. Again, this was almost 3 weeks after the initial problem, of course we had many questions and were very concerned. Dr. Shand was very rude and did not answer the questions we had, she did not apologize or give us any reasoning as to why we never got the test results even though we paid $400 and our puppy was left weeks without a diagnosis. So if you plan to bring your pet here for an emergency, make sure you get your results back and do not brush it off, this could have turned out to be a lot worse for our pet. We later called and spoke to the receptionists and they were kind enough to answer all of our questions.

I came in late one night with our beloved rabbit who, if not for the professional veterinary staff at Cavan Hills, would have 100% passed away overnight. We were attended to right away by the staff who were so kind and kept us in the loop on her progress over the two days she had to stay there.
We were presented a possible summary of charges at the high end/worst case scenario the first night we came in, so there were no bad surprises when it came time to pay when she was discharged along with the at-home medications. Thank you all for saving her life!

I have been going to this vet for about 3 years. When we started going they were amazing! They had these dog plans where it included flea and tick, all shots, free consultations, ear cleaning & nails trims for about $500 for the year! I thought it was the best thing ever! I ranted and raved to everyone I knew about how great this vet was!

Recently, that has declined very quickly. Ever since getting rid of those plans the staff have been basically doing anything to gauge your money. I recently got a second dog and she had an ear infection I took her in and they said she needed to be on ear drops. I remembered my older dog being on them and asked if it would be the same drops. Doctor told me no and I spent $300 that day just to come home and find it was the same drops! Was not happy.

Please don’t go here if you want them to book you in at midnight every time which is usually the response we get “can you come at 1am? ”

Bring back the plans!

My pets have needed routine and emergency care throughout the years and I've always left happy with my experience. Being kind to your vet staff will get you much farther than being rude - or even worse, cruel.

It has taken me some time to come on here and actaully write this. Would never bring my dog here again or EVER recomend anyone to come here. More concerned with collecting money (even tho we handed over a credit card at the beginning, saying do what you need to to save her) than figuring out what was actually wrong with my dog. The vet was rude and not listen misdiagnosed the dog despite us explaining the problem over and over. By the time the morning vet got there and correctly diagnosed her it was too late and our pup passed an hour later.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PLACE.

The staff at Cavan are some of the hardest workers I have ever worked with! The amount of hustle, empathy and care each individual gives to each animal that comes through the door makes me proud to work for Cavan Hills!

The DVM's are outstanding, always giving 100% and taking time to educate staff along the way. They are elite Veterinarians and I can confidently trust my animals with each one. 10/10 recommend.

I brought my dog to Cavan Hills after my regular vet provider ran blood tests said she was anemic and it is likely there is fluid leaking in her abdomen. Unfortunately my regular clinic is a small clinic and suggested I see an emergency clinic for further testing. At which point I went to Cavan Hills. At Cavan the vet took an X-ray of her heart and made me question if it was an issue with the heart. I suggested to check her abdomen as it could be leakage. So my dog had to stay overnight for an ultrasound. Even though she was there all night they did not perform the ultrasound till 4pm the next day. Upon pickup they said she was fine and gave me an anti inflammatory for her hips. Low and behold two months later I now lost my pet as she in fact did have a tumour growing on her spline and fluid leaking into her abdomen. Now my question is was the initial ultrasound even actually performed at Cavan? How did this go undetected- not to mention I was the one who even suggested they look for fluid upon checkup. I’m upset because this carelessness lost me my best friend. I would not recommend this clinic they are too busy and rushed to thoroughly diagnose the pets properly. If you love your pet stay away.

Over the weekend my dog decided to catch a bee and probably got stung because he was acting funny so I called and spoke to I believe Britney or Brianna she gave me all the information I needed and how long it would take for anything to happen so I decided to drive to Cavan hills vet to make sure if anything happened my puppy was close by to get help he would need. They told me to come in so they could take his vitals and said he seem fine, gave me two options hang out in the room and wait for a veterinarian to do a full checkup or go outside and wait another half an hour and he’d be in the clear by then. I chose to go outside I asked them how much it cost for what they’ve done they told me nothing so I went outside waited a half an hour and he was fine a day goes by they called to check on him even after not spending any money they still want to make sure he was good. Highly recommend this place️️

Unfortunately my first time with cavan hills involved me having to put down my baby but the staff were extremely accommodating and comforting. The amout of empathy and care they exhibit is outstanding and I am so thankful they were there for me in my time of need. I was turned down by vet after vet because my baby was a great dane and they didnt want to deal or care for him but cavan stood up and took me in. I will forever be greatful.

I have used Cavan over the years for all of my animals. I was raving about them but I have found just recently, they are not as accommodating to emergencies. I called this AM and pressed 1 for emergency. I told them about my cat (who I had adopted through an agency about two months ago) who Was experiencing lethargy, not walking properly, grinding his teeth and I was told the earliest they could get me in was Thursday! Sorry but I am truly disgusted in the fact that they thought it was okay to let my animal wait until Thursday in this condition. He had rapidly deteriorated overnight and required emergency care now! Not four days from now. We sadly had to put our cat down this morning and took him to a vet that was more than happy to treat our cat and expressed that our cat was indeed very such and if we had waited like Cavan told us we would have, our cat would have suffered. Like I said, they used to be great but the past few times I have called tor actual emergencies, they don’t treat them as such. We will not be returning as I am truly not okay with how things were handled and tried to get the best possible care for my pet.

Had a very sick kitty which needed 24 hr care which my local vet was unable to do. My vet rang around and Cavan Hills was the only 24 hr clinic able to take her. They took great care of her (Lola) and after 6 days could return home. They saved her life.
The bill was very fair and I believe a fraction of the price for a Toronto clinic. If your within driving distance i highly recommend this vet for after hours care. Keep up the great work.

Cavan hills is the best vet clinic! Prices are reasonable and the staff is amazing. I really appreciate how all the calls are monitored and the vet always gives you a quote of how much things will cost. Very flexible with appointments. I've taken my pig, cat and dog here. My parents also have brought their dog here and they were very impressed with how quickly the vet diagnosed their dog. I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else. Thank you Cavan hills for everything you do!

The staff were very compassionate and helpful. Their hours are amazing. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them!

Our dog was brought in just a few weeks ago in an emergency state. She is 110 lbs and had to be lifted from car onto their stretcher. Dr McLaughlin was upset that i didnt have a mask on, and i exchanged words with him. Our dog passed the next day. The other staff were caring during sad times. No words will express how angry I am with Dr Mclaughlin and his actions that night. We have been a customer there for a long time too. May he choke on a fur ball. A$$hole.

A Saturday appointment so I didn't have to miss work was great to start with. Facility is beautiful and clean.
Staff came out to my car to help me carry my litter of puppies inside.
Vet was thorough in his examination of each puppy and helped me out to my car with the puppies.

Unfortunately I had to put Mr. Kitty down, but everyone at Cavan Hills, from the vet to the ladies working the front desk, were so kind and compassionate. As well, they were the only place that would see him last minute, and every test and charge they discussed with me first and explained in detail if I needed. It's a great place and I will definitely start bringing my dog there.

Amazing experience. It was my first time here. My rabbit was very sick and the team was very professional and calming upon arrival. She was there for 3 days and I felt very comfortable leaving her for treatment with the team. Everyone was very friendly, always make sure you and your pet are comfortable and are very good with communication with all the clientele. Would highly recommend this location for all pets!

My spouse and I went in for cat food as our vet is located a hour away. The staff at the counter were super friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable of their products and what they had on hand. We just added an addition to our family and will be contacting them to move all of our pet care here.

Being to Cavan Hills for the first time filled with emotions of losing a fur family member was exemplary. We were met by kind and courteous staff that showed professionalism in my worst of times. The level of care that was shown to tracker in his passing was amazing. Even the paw print was a gesture that my wife and I now hold dear.

My Poor Baby was Suffering from A Perinal Hernia, We had Been to two Different Vets in 24hrs and were told to take him to an Emergency Hospital that could Do the Surgery, You Guys took us in and Gave us Surgery as quickly as you Could, Me and Brooklin are So Happy that We Came to You and So Grateful for the Loving and Professional Care we Received from All of You At Cavan Hills, Thank You XO

Best Veterinarians in Ontario, hands down. Stellar facility and even more amazing staff. This is a clinic where you can be sure your animal friend will be cared for with empathy and compassion as well as expertise.

I found the staff very helpful and pleasant. The price I paid was manageable and they were accommodating. The wait time was a little long but otherwise no issues.

Dr. Dan and his team provide excellent service and always answer any questions I have about my pup. The only downfall is they are apparently short staffed as they never answer the phone! I've been trying to call to confirm an appt for three days to no avail, even when I select the emergency option just to try to speak to someone. I realize they are very busy taking on new customers but service and responsiveness should be a priority for their existing clients. I'm hoping they will hire another receptionist as this is extremely frustrating!

Took my furbaby here for emergency visit. The young male Dr (sorry I can't recall his name) was amazing. You could really feel that he cared not just about our furbaby but about us too. Thanks for the great service.

Nice caring place to bring our pets, brought our 4 ferrets in for shots and flea stuff. Dr. Justin Kalsn was great with my daughter who brought them in as well seemed to enjoy our pets as he let them run around the office. Great service from the rest of the staff. Will be back again.

Warning! Do not take your pets here, unless you want to wait to be seen! My older dog was deemed an emergency as of Thursday night, and after making an appointment for Friday, we waited an hour and a half before walking out the door. I phoned a different vet clinic (where I have never been before) and got squeezed in. The receptionists are terrible! They forget you are even there unless you remind them. Never again will I ever take my pet there. Nor will I refer them to a family member or friend.

My sister brought her chinchilla there last night.and paid a bunch of money to run tests and xrays.and they said “hes got a little blockage in the intestinal tract” (constipation), gave him medicine, then this morning the chinchilla was dead. They made it seem like it was nothing major.but CLEARLY IT WAS! The vets here claim to have knowledge of exotic pets.but they do not!

Fabulous care for our English Mastiff with congestive heart issues. They were bang on with the diagnosis, the tests confirmed everything and we have our girl home! We thought we were going to lose her and she came out looking and feeling great. Thank you so very much!

We called an had to book an emergency appointment for our Blood Python, she had an infected lip that had progressed quite badly and she had become lethargic. They booked her immediately, advised that they didn't have anyone in that was very familiar with reptiles but they would do their absolute best to see what they could do. The staff was fantastic and did what they could outside of their comfort zone. I can't thank them enough for helping our big girl, she was a rescue and has already been through so much neglect in her short life.

Every year their prices go up. This time every time I called during planning for a spay the quote increased. This seems to be following the new push for pet insurance!

Do not take your animals if here if you really love them be they do not care about anything but money I know someone who works there and even there pet was treated badly. They let me poor boy suffer. And wouldn't even let us say goodbye when the time came. He was my best friend and they treated him like some wild anaimal.

Received incredible care for my puppy who just recently got neutered! However, recently am somewhat disappointed that I am not allowed to go in with my other dog that I am having to put down. So, thank you to Brooklin Veterinary helping me with that request!

Wait was far too long and the billing is confusing. Hard to get staff to understand we need more than 1 vial of insulin for our dog. We are 45 mins away and we go thru the same explanation every time. No one seems to remember or care.

I lost my precious Tahoe boy recently. The staff were very tender and understanding about our feelings and took the best care they could.

First of all, they don't let you in with your dog. They also changed my appointment times without even notifying me.

However, my biggest grievance is that my dog is clearly suffering and in pain. She was refusing food and water even though she was clearly hungry. The vet refused to provide her with medication unless we paid $500 for a test that would take days to get the results for, and then gave her the medication without waiting for the test results anyway. The medication helped her, but the test came back negative. Why couldn't they just give her the medication without running a $500 test on an elderly dog, considering they didn't actually care what the test results were anyway? That is extortion, and I would even argue animal abuse.

So far I have paid over $1000 for an ear infection, and the dog is still miserable.

I will be finding a new vet, as I no longer trust that Cavan Hills cares at all about my animal, only how much money they can make off her.

We recently had an emergency late at night with my dog and Cavan Hills was the only place open at that time so we rushed in. Our experience was great, staff was friendly and answered all my questions. I ended up having to leave my dog there overnight and was called first thing in the morning with an update. I was also encouraged to call through the night if I felt the need to check in, which was very comforting.

Ill be coming back for-sure (hopefully not due to an emergency next time though lol).

I have never wrote a bad review on anything before but I feel as though I am doing others a disservice not sharing my experience. On the phone before I drove an hour they claimed that there was someone who knew exotic animals like chinchillas. However, when I arrived they looked at him and said "we are not experts" once they realized they had zero clue what they were doing. I have never been more heartbroken as my chinchilla ended up passing away just hours after visiting this vet due to the inability and lies I received from this vet clinic. If you can't treat an animal say that you can't treat that animal. Even more heartbreaking was the fact that I spent $300 for an x-ray and they said on the phone "good news, I see nothing MAJOR other than a little build up in the small intestines" CLEARLY there was something major. I am extremely disappointed, heartbroken, and annoyed in how this vet clinic lied about their abilities in exotic pets and in treating them. I will not be returning and if you have an exotic animal I would do your research before bringing them to this vet clinic.

We used to praise this place for years when we didnt have any real issues going on with our fur family. Somewhere along the lines, time and time again.this place has failed us. We always go in knowing what we are getting into, but the last time was the final straw. We should never have to tell them whats going on, we are not the veterinarians. We lost our baby boy last week. We are devastated. We have been going to Cavan for at least 9 year. 4 dogs and a cat. Some good but now weighing towards more bad ones. We learned we had to know what was going on to get good care there unless we were dealing with the owner (whos never there anymore). We accepted that until it ultimately failed us. They turned down my thoughts, didn't listen to me about signs and symptoms, and brushed me off like they knew better. Eventually we had to take our dog to another emergency vet clinic in t.o and he succumbed to what was really going on. It breaks my heart as he was my baby and not even 3yrs old, but we will be looking for a new vet. Even the vet in t.o was wondering what the hell happened and why did they ignore me. It makes me think I could've been a better advocate for him, but in reality this is just a huge mistake on their behalf. Nothing will bring my boy back. Make sure you take your furbabies to the best possible vets you can. Their non emerge fees and 24/7 hr advertising may be glamorous but it's not worth it! I ended up spending 2600$ to loose my baby.

Very caring and attentive to our puppies needs. Kept very good care of her overnight with no boarding fees. Made honest recommendations for plans for all 3 of our dogs. I highly recommend using them if in the area!

I worked here and I would not bring my own dog here. Too many mistakes and too many animals for them to be handled properly.

No compassion and all about money not the animals and there owners. Recently had a very bad experience with them, my kitten had foreign object in her intestine which was going to cost me a lot of money for surgery, unfortunately due to my financial situation I was not able to afford surgery and unfortunately payment options are not available. After having surrendered my kitten to the Humane Society which was the only choice I had to save her, I called just to make sure she came out of the surgery okay as I do love my animals and I am heartbroken to Ihave had to give her up, but they told me now that she is no longer mine and Humane Society owns her they will not give me any information as to as to the outcome of her surgery, now to me that's pretty cold. Just because I didn't have the money to be able to do the surgery does not mean I did not care, after all the first thing I did was rush her to the hospital. I have never experienced such a lack of compassion an understanding.

We have been using Cavan Hills clinic for 6 years for our beloved fur babies. They have always been caring and compassionate with both animal and owner. We just yesterday had to have our cat Tyrone of 19 years euthanized. A very emotional thing to do, but the Vet couldn't have been more compassionate, giving us time with him before and after the final injection. I honestly can't say enough about these Great people and the work they do. I don't know how they manage to hold their emotions together, I know I wouldn't in a million years be able to do their job. Keep up the good work, and hope your new building will be up and running soon.

I have had two bad experiences at this place now. Three years ago I brought my cat here to get spayed and the surgeon who spayed her caused some internal bleeding. We got a phone call at 3am from Cavan hills telling us our kitty was dying of internal bleeding and that we would have to pay two thousand dollars out of pocket for a blood fusion. Their excuse for the internal bleeding was her breed and her genetics. Thankfully I was friends with the breeder and could prove that nothing about her breed or her genetics pointed to internal bleeding. I demanded they return my cat to me, spayed and healthy or that I would call up my lawyer. When I went to pick up my kitty the next day, I was told that I was LUCKY that the vet paid for the transfusion and that she was alive and well.

Now, more recently I have another cat and she’s been showing symptoms of hair loss. Worried, I took her in to be looked at and was told it was mange/mites. I have three other cats and three dogs and none of Them are showing any symptoms similar to my one cat. A vet at Cavan hills sold us on revolution regardless and said if we didn’t treat her, she would spread her condition to our other animals. After two months of revolution, her symptoms have only gotten worse and none of our other animals are showing any symptoms still so it’s CLEARLY not mange or mites and I’ve spent a couple hundred dollars on mite-treatment now thanks to Cavan hills.

If you love your animals and want them to get proper treatment at a decent price, I’d recommend High Street. Since these two ordeals, the amazing staff at High Street have safely and successfully spayed, neutered and treated all of our animals, and they are also the most affordable vet in the Kawarthas that I am aware of.

Lost my beloved dog Sation in the freezer for 9 weeks while I was waiting for her to be cremated. Broke my heart! Unacceptable

Needed antibiotics for our sick rescue kitten. Was bombarded with blood work which I politely declined. Eventually got our antibiotics. The vet did do a a reasonable examination just pushy on unnecessary services/costs that we didn't require at that time. I am thankful for the 24 hour service they do offer.

It can be very busy and i find that communication between the front desk and the vets can be lacking at times.

They were very accommodating and squeezed us in on a Saturday last minute. Our 17 year old cat was struggling and they didn't push for unnecessary tests, instead offered treatment that was reasonable as a first step.

Staff is excellent. Just had our dog there getting spayed. Did an amazing job and were very good for calling me with updates as well when I called to check in. Good price highly recommend

Had my 6 month old terrier spayed here in December. She was treated well and has recovered perfectly.
They are friendly and willing to answer all of your questions.

Great place, open all the time! Called ahead for a puppy eating chocolate fiasco, the took us in right away, he was in over night and lived to tell the tale. Great staff, awesome place. Make sure you are up to date with flea treatment, dogs come from all over in all shapes!

Have used Cavan for years. Service/Price has been satisfactory in the past. Recently I went to set up an appointment for 5 puppies to get their boosters. I was told appointments needed to be booked at least 3 weeks in advance in order to see one of their doctors. They wouldn't even book me an appointment, told me they would give me a call IF they were able to fit me in at some point. Never received a call back. The attitude and accusations of 'bad puppy parenting' because I didn't book multiple weeks ahead of time were enough to make me walk out disgusted - not just at their unprofessionalism, but also at their willingness to put 5 puppies in uncessary danger by delaying their booster shot. Called another vet - got in the very same day (even though I was trying to book for a week out). What good is an emergency vet when you have to book more than 3 weeks in advance? Absolutely none. Horrified at the service and treatment at Cavan Hills. New building = higher prices.

Fantastic vet! Cannot say enough wonderful things about this vet clinic and their staff. Highly recommend.
