Cedarview Animal Hospital

I do not have enough good things to say about Cedarview Animal Hospital and Dr. Sparks.

They have been super comprehensive when it came to my dogs care and have never made me feel rushed. When I had an emergency, they made time for my dog immediately and not only gave him a thorough exam and treatment, they had already called around to be able to give me quotes for potential aftercare (ie: hospitalisation at a 24/h hospital; costs of various infusions etc). My dog does not like vets and they have gone above and beyond to make him feel comfortable. They invited us to come for some "friendly visits" so that my dog could get treats and walk around the examination rooms and sniff everything.

We love this clinic. The staff and doctors always take the necessary time to get our dog comfortable with them before proceeding with the medical stuff. She waits for them to come in wagging her tail because she knows they will be kind and caring and give lots of treats.

I’m not entirely sure where to even begin when writing this, but knew our experience at this clinic needed to be shared.

We had been going to this vet for 2 years now as they are reproductive specialists and we are trying to start breeding with our female Malinois. Last year they collected sperm samples from a sire we loved and so we trusted them with our dogs. Our Malinois only goes into heat once a year and so our possibilities of reproducing are lower. Hence why we get her progesterone tested based off of the clinics recommendations. The first blood sample they collected, we were present for and it could not have gone more smoothly, and she could not have been more cooperative. She shows little fear at all and loves people.

The third time we brought her in to check her levels, the vet tech took our dog into the back, asked if she could have some beef liver treat which we said yes and were gone a few minutes. Shortly after the vet tech came out and told us that our dog had been given a lickmat with wet food smeared on it and she had ingested it. Neither of which had been discussed with us. They tried to induce vomiting for over an hour to no avail. Then a doctor had to come in on his day off to try to perform an endoscopy on our dog, which they also had no luck in. The vet said he did not think that our dog could pass this approximately 10 inch lickmat, and so she required a full on foreign body retrieval.

I’m extremely disappointed with the lack of knowledge on my working breed dog, as well as the lack of acknowledgement of this knowledge, the lack of professionalism and from what the hospital owner was like, their sincerity. If they were uncertain of how to handle this breed of dog it should have been told to us and we would have taken our business and dogs lives elsewhere, they are lucky the outcome was the best possible, some dogs do not wake up from anesthesia.

The stress on her body along with the healing process was a nightmare and something I hope to never have to go through again. I just hope they have learned from this experience and do not take on more than they can chew just for the business.

If you are going to this clinic I recommend speaking with Dr. Bell. He was patient, considerate and essentially saved our dogs life coming in when he did not have to.

I changed to Cedarview Animal Hospital because of difficulty getting an appointment at a VCA animal hospital. I got an appointment less than 24 hours after I phoned. The staff are smiley and there is an excellent atmosphere. It is apparent that staff are happy working here and morale is good. The vet and tech were both great, and very caring with my dog. All my questions were answered. The vet respected my views and opinions. Great job, Cedarview!

Been going for years as it's walking distance, but they came recommended. Front desk is very friendly and prompt with prescriptions etc. Vets and Techs are great with my dog. She's excited to see them and never been traumatized or had a bad experience. She doesn't necessarily see the same Vet every time but they're all good and fairly similar interaction.

Everyone here is kind and cares about your safety and mental well-being. No hidden costs and very compassionate staff.

We had the most positive experience at this vet office, with a rescue puppy who is nervous around new people. We were greeted with an amazing reception staff, offered a personal water bowl and given nothing but kindness. The vet tech and vet were also beyond amazing and gave my pup the most patience and love. Highly recommend on all counts. Wonderful experience and we’ve found my dog his long term vet for sure!

My dog had his annual checking in last month. Vet assistant said my dog had a blood work a year ago. So, she wanted to take blood sample this year. However, she had hard time to get the blood sample from my dog. After few tries. I felt my dog was very uncomfortable for this routing. So, I told her I wanted to stop this test. But she insisted to take blood from my dog. She had tried many times. I dont undertand what is this blood test for. Is it required or just good to have. It costed about $100+.

PS. You have tried more than twice (it is not your claim at your reply). I said I want to stop taking the blood. Why you still doing it? I dont recall anyone explained to me the purpose of taking blood sample and the test. I only recall you repeatly told me that it was done in 2021. Although your staffs have "Fear Free Certified". However, it did not work on my dog this time. Please stop if I said stop. I can bring back my dog in a different day to complete the test.

Super helpful and made the experience with our reactive dog very welcoming and compassionate.

We take our whole fur family to Cedarview. They are incredibly helpful, patient, knowledgeable, and will spend as much time as you need, helping you understand what your options are. They're amazing with cats. And my dog loves the whole staff.

Mango and Toffee have been seen by Dr. Gumley for mobility issues. I could not be more satisfied and grateful to him, his vet tech Chantal and all the lovely ladies at the reception.
I would also like to mention Sarah and Melanie in the rehab department. They are professional, compassionate and caring. Kudos!

We have nothing but AMAZING things to say about not only Dr Gumley, but the entire staff at this clinic. Our dog had rehab there 1 year ago after a tplo surgery and they were phenomenal. Recently it happened again on the other leg, but this time his heart murmur was worse, and they were nothing short of amazing! We thought we were hours from saying goodbye to our sweet Bailey due to his heart and they got us in right away and nursed him back. We know we don't have years left with Bailey, but this clinic are making sure the time we do have left that Bailey is comfortable and honestly thriving. We can't say enough about the amazing staff at Cedarview Animal Hospital!

The staff are compassionate and something that I was really impressed with was that you don't feel that they are there only to make money, they are honest with prognosis and if a procedure is not going to be helpful they don't encourage you to do it just to make money. Our 12.5 years old dog whom we loved dearly was diagnosed having fluid in his abdomen cavity and they told us that we had the option to extract it but they informed us that in most cases fluid comes back in a day or 2 and giving that honest information helped us to make an informed decision on not to put our beloved dog though a painful experience and cause so much suffering for him and they were honest to tell us that nothing could've been done to prevent our dog from passing and that helped us to make a decision on putting an stop on his suffering faster because we couldn't let him to keep suffering, he and no other innocent animal deserve to suffer, so we made his crossing over to the other side more peaceful and we are greatful for their help to make an informed decision which helps us to know that we did the best for our beloved baby. They also made our final hour with him very special as well by being patient and compassionate.

My two goldens have been patients at Cedarview animal hospital for many years. We have been going there since they first opened. They provide the utmost care and are like part of our family. From the front office to the operating room they are hands down the most caring and lovable bunch. We have been through a lot of ups and downs over the years and throughout, they have been by our side. If you are lucky enough to be a patient, you’ll know what we are talking about.

Our experience with Cedarview Animal Hospital has been nothing but stellar. The staff are amazing - personable, knowledgeable, kind and caring. We are always treated like royalty there and I would not entrust our greyhound's health to any other place. Kudos to all.

1 star for Very nice and friendly staff and vets. BREEDERS DO NOT GO HERE! Went for a progesterone test today they wanted to do a hip exam on a micro exotic bully lol. $700 plus tax to do the hip exam. All that before they would do the progesterone test. $175 just to walk in the door and $175 for the Progesterone test. All together it would have cost me $1300 just to do a test that cost $100 anywhere else. I ended up paying $175 and got nothing done. Hopefully I can find a vet to do the test before it’s too late and miss her cycle and have to wait another 6 months smh! Also if I agreed to do the hip exam they would have to do the same exam on the male before they would do AI or TCI. I understand they want to help make the breed better and not assist in breeding dogs with issues. I’m all for that but just for a progesterone test is a little over kill.

First time visiting this vet, so pleased at the excellent service. The time spent explaining everything to me thoroughly and making sure I totally understood was amazing. The care and soothing voice used with my little Shih Tzu was great. The reception staff is wonderful as well. I highly recommend this animal hospital, best I have been to.

I would highly recommend Cedarview Animal Hospital. I very much appreciate the effort they take in educating people in the process of breading. The doctors were very detailed in explaining all risks, costs and steps involved. I highly recommend.

I've been taking my two cats here since they were 8 weeks old in 2020. The staff are all extremely kind and genuinely love animals. They try their best to get your pets seen quickly and respond to minor health concerns over email as well. I've never had to use the rehabilitation centre but it's a relief knowing that it's available if needed. I know my furbabies are in good hands here and I highly recommend this animal hospital!

The clinic is clean spacious and bright and the staff very caring and kind. Our vet treated my dogs injury and explained his treatment to my satisfaction. I highly recommend this Cedarview Animal Hospital!

Cricket is an older dog with some mobility issues. Dr. Holtzman & RVT Technician Kristin Emslie were very good with him, He is sometimes cranky & can get aggressive. Under their care & attention he was like a lamb which I'm sure led these lovely ladies to think we were liars or crazy or both. The exam was thorough & went very well. We left very satisfied & the prognosis was much more positive than we had anticipated. We take a more natural approach to our pets health & treatment plans & suggestions were something we could live with.

Best vet clinic I’ve been to in this city. You can tell each of the staff members genuinely care about your pets. I went in with a sick cat expecting to pay a lot of money and they suggested a cost friendly treatment plan (which worked!) without the addition of expensive and most times unnecessary tests like other vets. I have moved out of the area but will make the drive to their clinic for their service, attitude, and love for animals.

Incredibly friendly staff. Very reasonable and affordable prices. Brought our dog in for pregnancy X-ray and we were extremely well received and assisted. They take the time to get to know the dog and give treats to spend some time with the dog. I highly recommend them.

This was my first appointment with my new pup. The staff were very organized and answered my e mail right away even before my appointment.
I felt so relieved after talking with Dr. Bell and technician Chantal when they addressed all my concerns. We did a zoom call and I saw my pup throughout the entire examination. They were so informative and patient. I would highly recommend this clinic for your pet.

This is my first visit here. It was so wonderful and highly recommend this vet more. They were so friendly, so caring for my dog. The vet and vet techs were so informative and gave me the reassurance that my dog is in good hands there. The price was great and will certainly bring my other animals there. The hospital was clean, beautifully decorated and was greatly with only smiles.

I cannot be more pleased with the service from everyone I've dealt with. They truly value and care for my pet's health and wellbeing like they would for their own, while keeping costs as low as possible. They are a fear-free hospital so they do not push my dog when she is stressed. Instead, they will take the time to make a plan that works for everyone. Exceptionally knowledgeable and caring staff I will continue to recommend to people.

Normally my cat Charlie hates the vet and gets very aggressive, but he shocked us all today with his unusual behaviour. He was very comfortable and patient throughout the experience here. The vet and staff took such great care of him and were super informative and kind! Thank you all for making this happen! This was our first

Fantastic group of people. They treat your pet like it was their own. Sarah is a loving, caring woman who loves her job. You can see this by her actions. Would give 10 stars if I could. Mayli loves her.

Dr. Kim Holzman is amazing! Very knowledgeable, with a good sense of humour, and always goes above and beyond for my greyhound, Pearl. If you have a greyhound, I would definitely encourage you to visit Dr. Holzman at Cedarview.

The most thoughtful and thorough clinic I’ve ever been too. All the staff are fantastic, and the standard of care is exceptional.

I am very pleased with the kind and professional service at Cedarview. The office staff are friendly and easy to deal with and I am particularly impressed with Dr. Amber Labelle who is the specialist treating my little 15 year old Yorkie for eye issues. She is compassionate and explains things very well, both orally and in writing afterwards. I highly recommend Dr. Labelle and Cedarview.

I was so moved by the care and compassion of all the staff when I recently had to say goodbye to my beloved dog, Louis. He was treated with love and such care not only by his vet, Dr Bell, but by every single one of the staff who cared for him from the first time we came to his last breath.i can say the same for me…
My girl, Melody Moo gets the same love and exceptional care as Louis did.
From the staff that answers the phones, and work at the front desk, to the ones who work in specialized areas in other parts of the clinic, to the assistants, techs and vets…a massive thank you to all for ALL you do. ️

I took my 10 year old cavalier to see Dr Holzman this afternoon. The whole staff was extremely gentle and thorough with Piper's exam, and we will be starting rehab next week. Looking forward to having my little man feeling better:)

Cedarview Animal Hospital is the best clinic I've been to. On numerous occasions in the past couple of months I've needed them and they've been there for me and my animals. If I need an urgent appointment they usually find me one within 2 or 3 days or less. I love the way they communicate. You can't run a successful business if there is no communication between staff. Everyone is so friendly and happy. Dr. Sharp examines my animals very thoroughly and always gives options. I love that if i contact them I will get a reply same day, usually within an hour or two. It may be just to say they got my message and are working on it. This puts me at ease. Keep up the good work. You guys rock!

Incredible veterinary clinic, they were really good with my cat who obviously didn't want to be there. They took the exam slow and were incredibly knowledgable and gave me multiple possible treatments and explained the pros and cons of each. The Vet and tech were both wonderful and it took a lot of the stress out of bringing her in. First clinic we've gone to that sprayed a towel with Feliway (which is genius) so instead of pacing the room and trying to escape she sat quite still and mostly just grumbled her disdain about being touched by strangers. So happy I came across this clinic, I highly recommend it.

My husband took our female in to see Dr. Bell for x-rays. He was gentle and made Maz feel safe and comfortable. My husband said Dr. Bell was obviously knowledgeable and clearly loved his work. And the office staff are friendly, competent and helpful. Maz will be going back in July for her second visit. We would highly recommend Cedarview Animal Hospital and Dr. Bell.

Cedarview's staff and specialty doctor examined Pippa with such cheerful good humour and care-they knew how to relate to a very excitable pup! Their suggestions for rehabilitation made very good sense to me, and were explained with clarity. I know Pippa will be able to recover with their help!

Wonderful, friendly and very knowledgeable environment. This was our first visit and I left feeling great about the care of our pets, and about the time and energy that was give to me.

Our little dude loves it at CAH and we've never had a bad experience here. The staff is very responsive and friendly, and curbside pickup/drop-off and payment are so easy and efficient. They were also able to book us at the last minute for an emergency checkup!

I brought my puppy in for his first vet appointment since adoption. My puppy is very timid and is afraid of strangers and didn’t want to approach anyone other than myself. Dr. Sparks and the lovely vet tech (who’s name I unfortunately forget) literally sat on the floor with him and tried to get him as calm as possible before even thinking about giving him his shots. This is my first dog, and Dr. Sparks and the vet tech were both very knowledgeable, very reassuring and very compassionate. Me and my puppy both left the office feeling a lot more reassured than when we entered.

I can't express how amazing the Cedarview team is, especially Dr. Holmes. I brought my very sick kitten to him two years ago and he was so helpful, kind, and he saved his life. I have been bringing my cats to him ever since and have never been disappointed. Everyone is so friendly, knowledgable, and ensure that we understand what is being told to us and how best to take care of our animals. They genuinely do it for the love of the animals and you can tell. I always recommend them to anyone I know.
