The food wasn’t good, tasteless and pricey. The menu should be updated and bring more food selections to match the price. The sushi was fine, but not excellent! Not recommend

Pretty good BBQ, one complaint we have was that, we didn't order that much meat, but the waiter decided that it wasn't enough and brought us tons of meat. At the end we had to finish tons of meat that we didn't order and couldn't try any of the sushi or other things.

Their ice creams were good though.

Great dinner place for those who wanna try Korean barbeque. Clean facilities and grill was clean and easy to use.

Lots of fun with friends, excellent 10/10 team building experience and good way to figure out which nutjob eats undercooked chicken. Fast service!

Quick order fulfillment, pleasant staff (especially if you arrive right at open!), nice variety in food and quality.

12% store service charge included, but this is not including waiters service tips, you need to pay other 10% tips on top for their waiters, finally you pay 22% service charge.

The food is great and definitely enjoyed the experience. My table was not a fan of the chicken as there was more fat than actual meat. Definitely recommend the spare ribs with bone & beef.

Absolutely delicious and excellent service. However the smoke and smell inside the place is terrible - little to NO ventilation. My eyes were tearing up due to the smoke of all tables.

The food is fairly good, but the prices have really gone up a lot over the years. I understand the cost of meat, staff wages and other expenses have gone up so I don't fault them. But I will find it hard to come here on a regular basis when I'm essentially cooking my own food.

Service was absolutely amazing and the food surprised me. There was a lot more flavor in the meat than I'm used to for Korean grill which was awesome. The sushi was also great, some even better than the ones I eat at an actual sushi place. I had an amazing time and even got extra ice cream. Who can complain after that?

This place never fails to impress me. No question about the quality of food - always good! One of the best staffs! Excellent service!

The people were nice and friendly and for a Saturday evening we were seated quickly. The servers were very quick to bring us everything we asked for and the food was great!

Chako is my mom's go-to bbq place. She had been craving it since the last time we went (prior to COVID) so we decided to eat here for her birthday this weekend. This was our first time at the Scarborough location and both of my parents liked it better than the one in Richmond Hill - arrangement, decor, and cleanliness.

Reservation:
We made a reservation a week in advance and asked for a private room (12% service charge becomes 15%). It was smaller than I expected but it worked for us. If you have a large group and not everyone has arrived by the time of your reservation, the 1h45m time limit starts right when you get seated.

Food:
The fish fillet was extremely salty, the sushi was a tad bland, and the meat wasn't the best. Besides those, everything else tasted great.

Service:
We appreciated our servers. They always came around to fill up our water and to help maintain our grills. Our main server was Sherry and she was so wonderful to us. She was attentive to us and her service was incredible throughout the night. At the end, she brought out the cake that we brought in for my mom and provided us with disposable plates, cutlery, and a knife. She even sang happy birthday with us.

Through talking with her, she shared with us that because they're understaffed, each server has more tables to take care of. Even so, we felt that she was always around to serve us and we never had to wait too long. So this 5-star rating is for Sherry and her amazing service. Thanks for helping us to celebrate my mom's birthday!

Gave a call to make a reservation. The lady who answered call was very rude and didnt responded to my questions. I gave up the idea of visiting this restaurant. If this is the way they are talking to their customers, I can imagine what will be their service.

My boyfriend always wanted to take me here and we decided to go on a Saturday evening.

We didn’t think about making a reservation (which we regret btw). We had to wait for almost 2 hours. From 7pm - 9pm. So we parked our car and waited in the parking lot for over 2 hours. There were also lots of people waiting in their cars, all because of Chako.

Was it worth it though? Nah, I don’t think so.

We finally got in at 9pm and the food was okay. Nothing special. They had limited options for sushi and just a list of items to order from.

I was shocked to find out that they charge a service fee? Sorry what? In addition to that, we probably have to tip on top of that.

Like fr we are the ones cooking the food lol?

It would make sense if they added the service fee to the original price.

Went on a saturday for the full adult course w my friends!
It was like $43 per person, after tips we all paid like $50 lol

Pros:
- Def worth it for the experience. Had so much fun with my friends
- Yummy sushi and dessert (icecream)
- Grilling was fun and it was all you can eat! Lots of side dishes and variety
- had a full stomach by the end
- nice service:)
- really pretty restaurant and environment

Cons:
- Meat all had one flavor? I think they use the same marinade for everything, it got boring after a while
- Kinda easy for your meat to drop out of the grill and into a dark void - grill is shaped like a dome so the meat can fall off if you're not careful
- personally enjoyed the sushi more than the meat; maybe bbq's just not my style
- is advertised as a kbbq. But I found that a lot of kbbq signatures aren't there.like pork belly
- pretty expensive in my opinion when you can just buy your own meat and grill it at home for much cheaper.

Overall worth it for the experience but as a student i prob won't go again, fun summer experience tho.

Chakos is one of the best Korean grill restaurants in town. Tasty marinated beef, pork, chicken and shrimps et al make this place better than the others. A bit pricy though for a week day dinner. That 12% service fee, wasnt an add on expense a few years ago

Great get together spot. The host and the team is great! You get what you paid for but one of the better AYCE Kbbq in this area!

Was really pleased with the selection and staff. No where does it state on the menu about a 12% service charge and they so t tell you about it until the end. Suprise! Than they still ask for an additional tip. Never been to a restaurant with a service charge before and really it's a buffet. Come on. Anyways our server was incredibly pleasant and she did deserve a tip which she received. But still it puts a bad taste in your mouth.

There is a service charge 12%. On top of that asking pay a tip 10% or 15%. If you have small group no reservation over the phone.waiting time almost 1 hour or more

They turned down service to a lady with a service dog. What respectable establishment does that? I won't be eating here.

It was my first time going and unfortunately I was not happy with the customer service. There were a few servers who were kind, front desk was a little mean to my friends and I. As someone who works with customers, although we were a bit late for our table, customer service should always be fulfilled properly, and customers should not be treated with disrespect. Food was delicious though, wish I had a better experience.

The 5 stars is mainly for the service.
It was such a nice experience and excellent service overall. Good taste. Place was bright enough, clean and organize. I would definitely come back to this location.

It was my first time going. We were placed outside due to covid reasons. I feel like it would have been a better experience if we were placed inside. The meat was well seasoned. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Although we weren't able to make reservations we had to come there and be put on a awaiting list. Thankfully we didn't have to wait too long. Bit it was worth yhe wait. It was my first time eating at a Korean BBQ restaurant. I will definitely be going back soon.

Chakos is a place I have been to many times in the past as it used to be known for decent affordable kbbq, but after recent changes I wanted to leave a review as well. The food itself is ok and their short ribs are definitely worth the try, but I found the other Korean barbeque places definitely provide much better quality and variety when it comes to meat.

When we were eating not only did they forget twice to provide us utensils but they forgot a part of our order entirely. Additionally due to the pandemic they have increased their prices and is no longer worth the money. You can easily find a much better experience at a competitors and with much better value for paying so much.

Overall for the price, quality and service you receive you can certainly still have an okay time but given the price increase and decline of service I can't recommend it anymore.

Really great value and yummy! Sushi’s not to die for and seafood is aight, but everything else was great and all you can eat is a good deal!

Best place for meat lovers like me. You eat all you want or can lol. All in one bill. Very pleasant staff too.
Give Chako a try if you've never been there

The foods and the selections were not good. But the service is good. Because I like the service so I added 1 extra star to 3 stars.

According to them, a 10 min wait actually means you gotta wait 1: 30mins and its takes another additional hour for the previous table thats leaving to "finish paying".

I missed Chako so much! We waited for 30 mins before we got seated at 6PM. The food selections were yummy! I didnt like the sushi options because there were more rice than the meat and there were only 4 different types to choose from. Other than that, the korean grill options are awesome! We had the boneless ribs, tofu, radish, shrimp, salmon, and sliced beef. The lady attending to us was so cute and very attentive! The other staff checking in on us were very courteous and prompt with our requests even if the restaurant was very busy! I've been coming to Chako since 2012 and I've noticed changes in their menu. I wish they still have their menu from way back because the options are few now (NO MORE GREEN TEA/RED BEAN/ GINGER ICE CREAM). They offer chapman's ice cream now as a dessert and it wasnt bad (although not really a fan of it!)
I'D RATE THE FOOD AS 3.5 to 4/5 AND THE SERVICE AS 5/5!

Food and service was great but when they explained the bill to us, that's what caught us off by surprise.

Like all places, there is a service charge (12%). You would think that would include the tips to the server, but apparently not, it goes to management. You have to pay tips on the bill again to give to the servers. Not sure if this is true or not, I understand the pandemic has been hard on businesses, but shouldn't you look out for your staff as well? Either way, we paid tips again in cash directly to the server hoping what they said was true. Heads up, it's around $45 per person if you're gonna be generous and give a tip.

I went here for my birthday late lunch. We called to book an appointment but it was walk in only. We got there a little before 5pm and we got a table for 4 immediately. It wasn't very busy. Food came immediately, our water got filled as soon as it went down and they always checked on the grill frequently. Nice experience. I took out 1 star because they took forever to bring the check. As we left.there was a long queue forming up.

I wish there are zero star, it never worth the price, very limited choice of food, only two soy sauce as dipping sauce, one light salt another one just normal soy sauce. The salad is not even fresh, the sushi they have is like home made, it just does not worth $37, if it is 20 or 23 I can accept this

This is one of the better Korean barbeques in the city. It's $36.45 per person, all you can eat! They have outside barbeques available. The restaurant is clean and so are their washrooms. The staff are friendly and helpful. The service is fast, and the food is great. There is beef, chicken, fish, seafood, lamb and side dishes to choose from. They have sushi and dessert as well. There is lots of parking. This is my favorite Korean barbeque.

Finest place to grab some food when in a rush. The customer service is quick, prices are reasonable, excellent character. Highly recommended

Service is quite fast since they don’t need to cook the food. Everything tastes pretty good but the beef isn’t as good as it used to be. Maybe they changed the seasoning? I highly recommend the tofu though, it’s my favourite dish of theirs. Only down side I can think of is there’s almost always a wait for dinner so either make a reservation or go at lunch time.

I adore this restaurant a lot.theres a special air. The food is good.the service is effective and the personel is courteous. The price is satisfactory.profoundly recommend.

We love eating out. Yesterday we came to this excellent restaurant which friends told us about. We spent a delightful evening there with first-rate food and a well-trained stuff and a talented chief cook. We added this restaurant in our list and we shall no doubt go again soon. Highly recommended.

Great service! The waiter never let us run out of water and the food was delivered quickly. Food was fresh and delicious. We ate way too much. The pineapple was the best.

Also the ice cream bars were amazing.

Expensive, but a fun experience and good food. Sadly it was very very busy when we went so the wait staff was always a bit preoccupied. They definitely did what the could to service our group of 14 given the circumstances.

10% service fee is ridiculous for a table of 2. Otherwise the place was pretty good. Our waitress was very attentive and kept coming around to check in on us. Food was also pretty good. Not amazing but pretty good as the meats were well seasoned. Wait time to get the food we ordered and even getting the bill was very good. Again the 10% service fee is just a cash grab. This place would have gotten 4 stars if it wasn't for the service fee.

Reserved a table and got the VIP room. Was good overall but I did not realize they limit you to changing the grill only once.

Food wise the meats are pretty decent and the sushi are very heavy on the rice. I mean, I don’t think you would go here for the sushi only but it was nice at least that they had an option I suppose.

Went today with my sister and boyfriend, it was his first time. Food was good and our server was attentive to our needs. The Star of the show however was the mango ice cream - in the words of my boyfriend "it was legit". Watch out for people flaming up their grills and make sure to leave the chicken on the grill til cooked through. Paid the holiday price but was worth the experience with the company.

I am not a red meat eater so this may not have been the best place for me. I did have the chicken, and fish but the red meat tasted better from what I heard from my sisters who came along. More veggie options would have provided me with more options. We did get rice, radish, kimchi, bean sprouts and miso soup to start. The miso soup was delicious! They bring it out hot so it’s best to wait before you go right in. The best part however was the mango ice cream for dessert! It was very creamy with the perfect level of sweetness. We ordered doubles of the ice cream at the end! The place itself was very clean and the servers were constantly clearing our empty containers and asking us what else we would like. Overall the experience of cooking your own food was great and different from your normal restaurant experience!

Overall atmosphere is great, Customer service is great and the food is delicious! I usually go here with my girlfriend

Nice placed and a very busy place. Like everything apart from the size of chicken and lamb they bring in front of you is like they are the peels. Very thin, they could do it more. But still Nice atmosphere and loved there green tea dessert.

The food was super tasty and the variety was good. Price was average. The service was super fast and the servers were all nice. Only issue I had was a couple things of meat were really dark/old looking but it was quickly taken away.

This place is great - we have only tried dinner. The quality and selection of meats and seafood are good and tasty. They are prefrozen to ensure freshness but still delicious. They offer vegetables like green/red peppers and mushrooms and zucchini. They have shrimp and calamari and sushi (dinner only) their ribs are good and so are the huge mussels. The meats are premarinated and delicious. The ambiance is lively and they have booths and special drinks and non-alcoholic drinks too. They do cater to bigger parties as well. Our server Brian was great. Attentive and kind. The ice cream is yummy - green tea and mango. YUMMM. We will definitely go back again. One thing I dislike is a charge for tea - its only $1.25 and free refills on same tea bag. Id like more dipping sauces, but thats just personal preference. I give this place a 4.5

Food is delicious, good ambience and atmosphere. The only thing is that the staff is moody but I guess that's due to the place being packed all the time!

Food is consistent. Service is always above and beyond. Not the best place for korean bbq but for all you can eat, you can't go wrong! I definitely will go back again.

Great location, great service. A little pricey for KBBQ. Came to $80 for my wife, 4 year old son and me. Still highly recommend.

Great quality, price and service. We dined in for lunch, our server Sunny was quick and very diligent on our needs. Chicken was taking bit of time to cook and while waiting it was burnt. The seats were very tight due to the table grill! Otherwise, it was great deal for lunch.

This is a buffet style Korean BBQ. I went with a bunch of my friends on he's birthday and had a blast. Food is great, a bit pricy but it's worth what you pay for. The decor inside is great, waiting timing is average but only one waiter was nice and fun and kind to us. The other staff were lifeless and didn't care about serving us well.

I'm a fan of anything BBQ. Not everyone is especially if you have to cook it yourself. My advice is take someone with you experienced at Bbqing or experienced at cooking food and knowing the timing of how long certain foods should cook for. For instance you have to cook chicken thoroughly whereas with beef you could get away with searing it. I realize this is more advice than review but I think most people's review relate to the experience they have and if they are not experienced at cooking their review might not be fair. I liked the venue here. Not great if you have a big group of ppl (more than 8).
The serving staff were courteous and brought orders over promptly. They didn't hover but they were also there when you needed them.

Good food and good service, the only downside is grill takes a long timr to cook the food and there is a 2 hour seating limit.
