Tha food we ordered was delicious but could be warmer. Service was excellent and the dining room was packed. We had a hard time understanding each other and had to be louder to be heard properly.
The fries! How could you change them! Huge mistake. Won't be going back. It's literally that big of a deal. From beautiful delicious fries to diner style coated soggy fries. Nope
What a disappointing experience at Chances R today. The hostess was kind and welcoming and the initial contact with our server was as well. We were not quite ready to order a drink when he first came over which led to a very long wait to place any order after. When he did finally return I asked for his suggestion after naming a few of the dishes I was contemplating. I put in the order for my stir fry and added that I had a soy allergy. He said there was no soy sauce in that dish, fantastic! He then returned to let me know there was indeed soy sauce and suggested the veg pizza or wrap. I asked if they could make the stir fry with another sauce and he said they could not. I suggested oil and spices thinking surely the kitchen could manage a tasty substitute. No such luck. Additionally, the draft beer I ordered seemed flat and when I brought it to the bar to inquire I was told it was fine and that you could tell by the bit of white on the rim of the glass. I can tell you that I drink enough beer to know when one is flat and do not need to be told otherwise. Needless to say, I will not be going back.
A great place to eat! The food is always delicious. The nachos with chicken are amazing! So are the zucchini sticks and their burgers. Also can’t beat the service.
Had the Arizona wrap with fries. It was delicious. And for dessert, the cheesecake with caramel and pumpkin coulis was so good. Love the atmosphere and our server was efficient.
Our second visit was not as good as our first. I did not appreciate being seated at the least desirable table when better ones we unoccupied. I sat without complaint to see if I would ever return.
Some great gluten free options with dedicated fryer for fries. Servers are well trained and I'm never disappointed. Breakfast/lunch/dinner are all excellent value!
Went to this restaurant near Algonquin College for breakfast. I tried the Steel Cut Bowl and my friend had the French Fruit Explosion. The Bowl portion is generous and the fruits are fresh. I'm on a diet and so this food is perfect for me! The French Explosion is also superb. My friend said the cinnamon-coated French loaf is heavenly! The loaf is crispy on the outside and soft inside. The cooks prepared it to perfection. Great job! Definitely will come back.
When the outside patio lights got turned on and one glared into my face, when asked Matt immediately got up on the railing and moved it for me. Wow. I didn't expect the sudden respone. Being a busy guy he still was able to take the time to ask how the food was. My picky husband said the Prime Rib was excellent and I enjoyed the chicken parmigan. Hope the patio stays open into late fall. I'd go back. It was a pleasant atmosphere. Front door hostesses were so sweet, Thanks so much.
The restaurant is clean, service was great, my breakfast was excellent but couldn't finish due to the portions being alot of food. I'd go back and recommend it to others.
Great covered patio. Excellent menu (great breakfast options, too), reasonable prices. Friendly, efficient staff, good food. Located in shopping centre so lots of parking. Accessible.
Great breakfast, large portions, and they still charge a fair price. Would have given 5 stars except the greeter took down my phone number wrong, which resulted in a much longer than required wait during which my cell never rang to alert me that my table was ready. My husband eventually wandered in to check after watching many people enter the restaurant and not come back out, so presumably they got a table right away. Otherwise, it was a good meal and we will likely go back again for breakfast.
Ordered takeout for small group. Hot food hot and cold food cold. Also complementary assistance for carry out to car. The best was personalized toppings on hamburger for birthday boy! Fantastic food. Check out the take out menu. Also lots for vegetarian. Suggest you call if you have special requests. Mike and staff are the best!
I ordered a spaghetti and meat sauce with garlic bread eating with a spoon and fork I had maybe 9 bites 10 if you want to include the chip sized garlic bread still hungry not worth the price honestly feel like I’ve been robbed oh and add Uber eats to the price tag
Went here on the 16th of June and per restrictions only their patios were open. Line was longer than they had said it'd be but they did give a ring when it was ready. They initially set us up by the edge of the patio where the sun was glaring but upon request they moved us in later. Food was extravagantly presented and very colorful. It was also tasty but one thing that irked me a tad bit was the substitute for a 'poutine'. It's a tad bit much to charge so much when all they did was add gravy and grated cheese, not cheese curds, grated.cheese!
Their service is top notch and our waiter was very personable. I would definitely go gain in the future but the poutine definitely left room for distaste.
The only reason it lost a star was how dark it is. But we were there for brunch.the darkness would be nice at a late night event! Not much to complain about here.
Wow what a great place. We went there during summer time with my friends for lunch. Our server was very nice and had great sense of humour, also she had detailed knowledge of menu and food, she recommended us best food for our choices. Food came out on time and quantity and quality both were great me and my friend really enjoy time been there. Can’t wait to go back
I've been at this restaurant for years. I have to admit that it has been my favorite restaurant ever. But since the start of this corona pandemic I don't know if they have changed the Chef. Our favorite " steak order" is like a plastic when you cut it, very tiny size, we ask for a well done meat whick is perfectly presented but the smell is not good like a not fresh one been there for weeks. What happened? You're one of the best restaurants in town, please, chef, do some changes about it.
Yet another great breakfast sandwich, Covid-patio-style!
18/10/20: They've done it again! Today I branched out away from my usual and tried their seasonal special. Pumpkin-spiced pancakes were delicious and they didn't skimp on the bacon either! Heaters were running and I was comfortable in my t-shirt although I probably lucked out with the best seat on the patio for that! Highly recommended!
Date of Visit: 2020-08-28 Lunch. WOW! We pre-booked for the Patio. From beginning to end, our Service was COVID safe (our Server wore a mask @ all times & he maintained a healthy distance when attending to our needs). More importantly though, for those of us who have a difficult time getting OUT & socializing (Read: Fearful of Covid). This is a GREAT place to start your return to a New Reality. The food hasn’t changed: it’s as fabulous now, as it was pre-Covid! For the Reviewer who recently found a hair in their meal.maybe it was a stray from your own bubble? Regardless, CHANCES R is a wonderful place to stay safe, while enjoying a wonderful meal! Beef Dip; Fries; Fish&Chips = 10/10 (Long Island Ice Tea - single shot = 11/10)
Friendly, knowledgable waiter. Good, generous servings of food. Nice, relaxing atmosphere (even with the woman directly behind us who seemed to think she was speaking to the entire restaurant).
A far cry from the old greasy spoon that was here when I went to college. It has transformed into yet another average restaurant with typical fare, typical prices and decent service. Much cleaner and upscale, but at the cost of all the character.
It was definitely breakfast - nothing more, nothing less. The over easy eggs, fried potatoes and bacon were all overcooked, bland and room temperature (even though it was on the table in less than five minutes). The menu is very limited and the ambiance is more hurry up and go than sit and stay. I wouldn't give it a second chance given the abundance of other places to eat locally.
Good food, reasonably priced, good location, good ambiance-very lively. They're pretty busy almost everyday, even though, food service was fast and servers were very attentive
Leigha S.is an incredible server! We had an intention of only 12 people, with 24 showing up. She was so calm and friendly, and her service went above and beyond! It was my first time here, the food and drinks were great, but the service is absolutely bringing me back!
Thank you Leah for helping all 24 of us celebrate our final exams from Algonquin College Project Management course! Our original table of 12 doubled and you handled it like a pro!
We go for breakfast quite often with grandma and 2 kids in tow. There's something for everyone, the kids love their chocolate chip pancake, service is quick and courteous, and food is good. Great for families!
This place is good, however the breakfast menu is slimmer than a stray kitten. One page double sided with 90% of the options just eggs. If you like eggs it's a great place but otherwise I suggest you wait for lunch.
Went for dinner, food was mediocre. The appetizers were delicious (zucchini sticks and spinach dip), but the mains were a little disappointing. The battered fish that came with the fish and chips was very bland and not crispy at all. French fries were pretty decent.
The chicken pita was just okay, the chicken was overcooked but the rest of the sandwich was good. The greek potatoes that came with it were very dry, like they had been roasted, refrigerated, and had to be reheated by the time they were given to me.
The service was good though, even with a packed restaurant and a big group they were quick with refilling drinks, taking orders, and bringing out food all with a smile.
