Charles Dickens Pub

I have heard such great things about this place and finally decided to go try it. We walk in the back as that’s where my GPS brought me and the dirty look and rolling eyes of the hostess is what started it off. We get seated near the wall where I had sat on crumbs and in between the wall and seat was old food. We brushed it off and hoped our server would be happier and we would at least have a good evening and some good food. She came and was just the same, attitude and rude. Maybe because we came through the back? Either way the service unfortunately was terrible and we ended up leaving before ordering our food.

The food was one of a kind I enjoyed the curry poutine which was delicious while my gf had a beef stuffed yorkie which also looked very appatizing. Service was a little slow but they were busy at the time so understandable.

As usual the charles dickens delivers. We had dinner here with the family. Great spot for good food.

I love the atmosphere of an English style restaurant. English tasty style food. Bangers and mash and fish and chips.
Charles Dickens has some good musical groups for entertainment. Was just there and listened to a duet called Unison. Excellent fun.

During our visit to Charles Dickens I had a special off of the “Big Cheese Days” menu called the Bacon Rarebit Burger along with a Pimm’s cup cocktail. My partner had a burger off of the regular menu. Her burger was good but mine lacked any semblance of bacon which due to ratio of bacon lattice to rarebit was overwhelming rarebit.

The cocktail was however amazing and the service was excellent. I’d visit again to try their regular menu.

Great atmosphere. Very fun British style pub. The food was slightly better than average pub food.

I love pubs and this one is no different. Quaint atmosphere with good food and pleasant service. Great place to stop in for a beverage or something to eat.

My wife and I had a great time the food was amazing. I have been here a few times and I have never been disappointed.

Charles Dickens Pub is always excellent! Monday fish and chips $30 for 2 dinners is great. We've had that a few times and never disappointed.

Ordered food to go and was ignored at the bar for 15 minutes; ended up just walking out. Would not recommend.

Had a 60th bday party, just the other day, Great place, beer tasted great, the food good, good service BUT I asked if there was any mushrooms in my curry (because of a small problem with them) and when I took my left overs home.there was a huge piece of mushroom in it.i would have given a 4 star but I was extremely sick the next day.check your food! Very sad.great place but won't go back.sorry and my parents go all the time

Ahhhmazing service! Food was delicious and served piping hot! Entertainment was excellent and the right volume for the size of the bar. I was so impressed by everything! KUDOS to all the servers and especially the bar tender! Wow. Highly recommend

UPDATE:
Still a 5 star experience! We ordered for pick up as this is our last night in Ontario! I flew in on Thursday and all that's been on my mind is the Sticky Toffee Pudding! They unfortunately forgot to give that to us, I phoned and they gave me double for my inconvenience! Thank you!

We were visiting from Calgary and my cousin took us here for supper the night before we left. I so wish we had known about this gem at the beginning of our trip! I had hmmm I cant even remember my main cuz my dessert blew me away! Lol But everyone else had a beef dip and said it was amazing! The coconut shrimp were excellent and I do know that my meal also was very tasty! BUT the Sticky Toffee Pudding was to die for! I so wish I could have that every week! Lol hats off to the chefs there! Our next visit to Ontario we will definitely be in more than once!

Food and staff are excellent. Prices are on par with other places, but the portion and quality are better than most. Try the haddock and chips, excellent.

I want here for my friend's birthday, I don't live in Woodstock so she's the one who chosed it. The staff was really friendly, the drinks were really good. We got a bunch of appetizers to share, the nachos, garlic shrimp, and the spinach dip. What I liked about the garlic shrimp, was that they give you a piece of bread to soak up all the garlic butter with. I found that the nachos had just the right amount of cheese and we didn't ask for extra. And the spinach dip was just amazing, it came with soft pita bread and chips, so you get an option.

The is the local British pub in Woodstock. It does things like fish and chips, as well as other pub favorites really well. The staff here are friendly and have a sense of humour which I appreciate.
