Ashley (Lifestyle Programs Manager) has been amazing at setting me up and directing me in my role here as a placement student taking social work!

I was quite a loner before I moved here but once I came and met all these people here I came out of my bubble and began partaking in the groups and activities that were put on. I met new friends and they became like family to me and I love the way they make me feel! Most importantly I have been the youngest resident here and I have been here for 10 years this March 6th and I plan to be here till my dying day! That's how much I love it here!

I started working for this retirement residence since the summer. My colleagues, residents, and management team have been wonderful and welcoming. Very positive experience and happy that I have joined the team!

I started working for Chartwell at the beginning of the pandemic, and switched to the Colonial location 2 years ago. The staff and residents feel like family, making the residence seem more like a home than a workplace. Covid took it's toll on everyone, and the media made many nervous about senior living, but working here made me realize how much better the residents had it here compared to living independently. The opportunities for socialization, stimulating activities, and the support network at Chartwell Colonial made pandemic restrictions take less of a toll on the physical and mental health of residents. I look forward to seeing how this home changes as we continue to put the pandemic behind us.

Chartwell Colonial is a retirement home with a wonderful community feel and plenty of heart. I have been working at Colonial Retirement Residence for a little over two years. Each day I go home, my heart is full. It is a pleasure to work for a company that values both its residents and employees.

Chartwell colonial is a very special home. I have lived here for over 8 years. I have watch staff leave and new ones arrive. I have watched residents leave and new ones arrive.
Regardless the special feeling remains.
Its home. We laugh, we cry and sometimes we disagree but the sense of family remains.
A family member visited four other homes on easter weekend. She told me some were much better appointed but they didn't have the special feeling we have.
Just a little push here. We are badly in need of a few upgrades. We know how special the staff and residents are but how do you portray that to possible newbies when they can see the dirty worn carpets and drab drapes. Im sure the dining room ones will just disentergrate when they are taken down.
That said i love it here, the staff feel like a part of my family. They notice when i'm sad, just a quick hug means so much. We share jokes, we are quick to share our latest achievements with them.
Come visit snd feel the healthy vibes we have.
Shirley in the Colonial.

I visited Colonial with no appointment for a tour on a Saturday morning and met with Lesley Paulino, the General Manager and was very impressed with her professional attitude and kind mannerism. She was very patient, knowledgeable and answered all my questions clearly. The building was very well kept, organized and extremely clean. I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist and spoke with some residences in the foyer as I waited. The positive and happy attitude carried through not only the staff but the residence as well. I would definitely recommend anyone interested in Chartwell to pay this particular location a visit. The standard of service and level of professionalism is quite high.

Chartwell Colonial is a wonderful retirement home. I have been at Colonial Retirement Residence as a student for a little over two months. They are such a great, welcoming management. It is a pleasure to work for a company that values its residents, employees and students as well. Clients and staff are all friendly, and I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who is looking for comfort like home!

I am working in Chartwell Colonial Retirement Residence for over a year now and it is one of the best place that I ever worked. The colleague and the residents are amazing to work with. This residence has a cozy, warm and welcoming feel. Every time I visit, I love interacting with the staff and residents. It is a wonderful community that feels like home.

Retirement homes are off limits are that since I am a special needs man, I have concerns horrible things might happen to me for real is that someone might take advantage of me for no reason. If anyone ever treats me badly, even if I am 65 years old, I think I am better living with my APACL worker in her house instead.

My sister has been a resident of Colonial for 10 years. The staff have gone above and beyond to help me deal with her issues and have always been there for her. They are all so very kind and caring to all the residents. From the attentive kitchen staff to the cleaning staff to all the amazing PSW’s, Management, volunteers and any others working there they all make it feel like home. There are so many different activities for the residents to join and take part in. Walking in you can always feel the warmth and a feeling of home. Thank you so much Colonial!

Our mother recently made the move from living on her own in a condo to moving into Chartwell Colonial. She came into the home for a two week respite stay, due to a recent illness and has ended up staying on permanently.
From the moment she entered the building she was warmly welcomed by both staff and residents. The transition from independent living to residence living is going smoothly due to the support and encouragement given by the wonderful staff. She is settling in nicely and now enjoys three delicious meals a day and attends many of the organized activities.
The Colonial is a small residence. The interior is well kept and clean. The atmosphere there is warm and inviting. It feels like home and due to it's smaller size, people really get to know each other and become family.
We feel confident that our Mom is in a safe place and is being well cared for by the amazing staff.
My brother, sister and I would definitely recommend the Colonial and truly feel that this has been a positive experience for our family.
Thank you for being there when we needed you!

Chartwell Colonial retirement home through my experience is top notch. My mom was there for two and half years and I always felt that she was treated very well. The staff was always helpful and pleasant to deal with.

Just as important, was when we moved her out to LTC. They were very professional with the exit process. There were no hidden surprises.p. S. (each day she always commented on how she liked the meals)

Many thanks.

The staff are very friendly and kind. It's great to see all the safety protocols in place with covid. Management is excellent at keeping family members informed almost weekly on updates within the home.

I recently moved my Grandmother into Chartwell Colonial and it has been an amazing experience. Jacquie Platten, Retirement Living Consultant at Colonial, was very helpful in making sure the transition was a smooth and easy one. The building and the suites are clean and keep within all COVID guidelines. The staff has been extremely attentive and caring towards her. It really feels like a home and I know she will be safe and looked after for years to come. Thank you so much to the whole Colonial team for making what can be a stressful time much easier on my family & I. I would absolutely recommend Chartwell Colonial to anyone!

I loved the design of the home when I moved in, you can keep your independence or participate as much as you like. During COVID staff are doing there best to keep us active and all are extremely friendly, helpful and caring. Very much a home like atmosphere!

I worked here for about a month, I would NOT recommend anyone to work here, they will lie and tell you that you are hired for part time then put you as casual and except you to be available for any shift instead of actually working somewhere as part time. Not only that they hire an agency to come in and work shifts that the people who work there can! Look somewhere else for employment if you want hours and want to be treated well. You are not working as a PSW either, you are doing laundry and cleaning. Sorry I didn't go to school to something I didn't go to school for!

I cannot recommend the Colonial enough. Having a family member move in there about a year and a half ago has been the best experience I can imagine. All of the staff no matter their role go out of the way to make sure my mom is taken care of and constantly go above and beyond expectations. My mom has commented numerous times that "this is the right place for me" and feels cared for and safe even during this pandemic.

I have just recently moved in to the Colonial (approximately 1 1/2 months). Moves at our age are difficult, especially during a global pandemic. I have found the staff and residents extremely welcoming and have made it easier to accept the move. I would highly recommend the home for anyone looking to downsize to retirement living. Great atmosphere.

We are so happy our dad is in this amazing retirement home. They have treated him so well, with kindness, care and delicious food! He is impressed with everything about the Chartwell Colonial and so are we! It's very clean and they really take care of their residents. He had to enter quarantine for 14 days b/c he was is new resident and he has had nothing but great things to say about his experience, they are treating him like a VIP! We are forever grateful!:)

We moved my mother-in-law into the Colonial during the pandemic. It was a very difficult transition, as we had to drop her off at the front door, and the Colonial staff brought her to a respite room without any of her own furniture. The staff went above and beyond to make her feel comfortable there, and to get accustomed to her new way of life. She is now adjusting to her new home and says the staff is all very nice and she loves the food. Thank you to all the staff for your exceptional service and the care you provide to the residents. And thank you Jacquie for always being available to us and helping us feel at ease knowing that our mother is being well taken care of.

My mom has been a resident of The Colonial since September 2014. She has required care since she had a CVA in 2010. The staff at the Colonial is amazing. They go above and beyond. My mom has difficulty communicating and sometimes doesn’t tell me she needs items. The PSWs have provided her with many personal care things through the years, paid for with their money. They are kind and caring and supportive. Sara, the entertainment director is excellent in encouraging activity and keeping the environment fun, and she does so much more! She obviously loves the residents. Shannon recently left but she was another amazing employee and her loss was felt deeply. During the early days of Covid-19, I considered bringing mom home. I spoke with her about it and she refused. I’m so glad that she stayed. Their care and attention to detail in keeping the residents and staff safe has done exactly that, with no Covid-19 cases in the home to date. The Colonial is more than just a retirement home, it is mom’s home. I’d highly recommend this residence to anyone seeking wonderful care for a family member.
