Chartwell Georgian Traditions Retirement Residence

This is a very odd review but i believe in giving credit to people who are kind and helpful to you in this world. My spouse is in urgent need of assisted living care and i called Chartwell Georgian Traditions and spoke to Deb today. I cannot say enough about how helpful she was to me. They currently have no space but we talked about his needs and she made suggestions. She was professional, and at the same time warm, caring and helpful. Thank you for your time. Truly appreciated.

Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful at Chartwell Georgian Traditions. My father really enjoyed the meal and was extremely satisfied. Everything was wonderful with the food and the service. Many thanks to the food service staff for this celebration.

Deb and the team at Chartwell Georgian Traditions were excellent to deal with in us searching for a retirement home for my mother in law. I would highly recommend this facility and their staff to anyone.

We were welcomed with open arms. The staff were amazing for our visit and allowed my mom to take her time, ask every question she had and then some. They showed genuine care and compassion for my mom and the move she was going to make. She left feeling like this was already her home.

I am in awe of the care my Dad has received since Oct/20. From the top down & the bottom up, the Management & staff have maintained a professional, safe, friendly & caring environment at the most difficult of years. The Manager, Oliver Stone & his extraordinary team from Debbie the welcoming sales manager, Haley, our contact for all needs, Tracey & the front desk associates, the care & nursing attendants, the chef's & diningroom staff, the maintenance staff & many I have never met have all been valuable in the excellent experience my Dad has benefited from. The meals have been both creative and delicious and tailored to the clients needs. The residence has operated much like a high end hotel with programs, special occasions & unique theme days. Oliver and the staff went to great lengths to keep residents from feeling isolated during this time without visitors or family & it continues.
It's a lovely, well kept, friendly atmosphere.

My mom moved into Chartwell after a major surgery, and one day before the pandemic shut everything down. The staff could not have been nicer and more helpful. My mom received the best care, from some of the kindest people. What's more, they treated her, and me, like family. Throughout the pandemic, they were willing to accommodate many requests.making moving my mom to another city very easy. Thank you to the entire staff.

When I arrived at Chartwell Georgian Traditions, I was a new widow, had visited Collingwood once and knew no one, Today, celebrating my third anniversary, I have a host of friends (both residents and staff), enjoy bridge, art (with wine) and special events like a jazz band at a 100th birthday party. All the staff know my name (and did on my first day!) and I feel comfortable and respected.
The virus has obviously impacted regular activities, and even required a brief lockdown, but the staff managed to trim residents' "cabin fever" while delivering three meals a day with smiles and conversations. Exercise classes were cancelled, but offered one-on-one, in suite, to keep old muscles going, Bingo continued by remote and most afternoons were brightened by door-to-door delivery of daily specials (wine, sweets, fruits, popcorn). Regular virus updates kept us informed about what was happening and what was likely to happen - and were a great stress reliever for family.
Once all the virus issues are lifted, we will again have movies in the Theatre Room, outings to points of interest, shopping trips and the option of inviting friends over for pre-dinner drinks. I look forward to many more years of activity (and little cleaning, cooking or chores) at Chartwell.

Our family has been very fortunate, especially during these difficult times, to have chosen Chartwell Georgian Traditions as a retirement residence for a family member with dementia.
The kindness, compassion and skillful care of the staff has been outstanding! Communication has been clear and helpful from management, nursing staff and caregivers. We have experienced both the residence and the Memory Living areas now and both are excellent. The focus is always on giving residents the best quality of life possible at whatever stage of health they are at, and ensuring family are aware of any issues.
From the warm welcome whenever I visit or call to the patient and thoughtful support, GT has given me peace of mind. Not an easy thing to do during Covid! I know all health precautions are being taken and staff have been professional and sensitive to everyone’s needs and concerns.
And the food is delicious!
Congratulations to all the great people working to make Georgian Traditions a happy and safe home for seniors.

Although not a resident of Chartwell I have been a neighbour and visited often with my social puppy, to visit friends and to participate in their social events. They have also been a sponsor of my golf league for 6 years. My impression is they have a lovely and devoted staff, they are very committed to their residents and to their community. They are also efficient and promises made are kept. Would not hesitate to recommend our Collingwood Chartwell to anyone looking for that lifestyle. Special kudos to Deb and Nancy.

Great all around experience with this Residence but especially with Deb McCannell the Retirement Living Consultant. Deb has been fantastic to follow up with different options for my parents as they look to transition out of their home. She is patient, easy to talk to and very resourceful. The Residence itself is beautiful, with a great location and staff all seem friendly and helpful.

My dad has been treated so kindly by the staff at Chartwell Georgian Traditions. They are friendly, accommodating and caring. He enjoys the quality & variety of meals. His suite is spacious and has a nice view. The staff have done an amazing job keeping the residents safe during the pandemic. I thank them so much for that

My step-father and sister Charlene made this their home in 2017. After 3 years, my step-father passed away and for the first time in her life, Charlene was going to be living on her own. Every one of the staff have gone above and beyond each and every day to make her transition an easy one and all of that at the same time they were dealing with the onset of Covid.
As for the Covid response, they were always one step ahead of the restrictions and while keeping everyone safe, they also have made life as enjoyable as possible under the conditions.
Charlene feels like this is not only her home, but also her family. For myself, I feel like they are also family.
The first day that I walked through those doors looking for a new home for my family, I felt that this was the right place. Four years later, I KNOW that this is not only the RIGHT place but also the BEST place. Thank you to each and every one of you for all that you do for all of the residents each and every day.

My husband and I arrived at Georgian Traditions at the same time as Covid-19 in March of 2020. April 2nd we went into lockdown for about 2 months. As you can see, it was not a very good beginning for our life in retirement.

However, the staff here have work very hard to make our stay here the best possible. We have had our ups and downs - there has been times with no activities, times with no access to outdoors, times where we had to stay in our rooms with meals served in, for a while it was better and then it went down again as our area entered the Grey Zone.

The staff has managed to keep our thoughts positive and recently helped us through the vaccination process. Our hope is that being vaccinated will make our life a bit more free and meaningful. We are hoping also that there will be no third wave, but if it happens, we will get through it as well.

When the end of Covid-19 comes, we are hoping to see what living at Chartwell is actually like. We hope we can then enjoy our retirement as we should and live without all these restrictions.

As a frequent visitor to Chartwell Georgian Traditions, I am always delighted with the atmosphere. The residents are always cheerful and upbeat and seem genuinely happy in their beautiful home. I think the staff has a great deal to do with that. I visit a good number of retirement residences, but I feel the staff at Georgian Traditions is exceptional. They all seem to genuinely care about the residents and are always taking time (even the food service staff) to interact with them. I believe, no matter how lavish the residence - and Georgian Traditions is, of course, an extremely beautiful place - it is the staff that makes it a "home". I look forward to every visit.

My grandmother lived at Georgian Traditions for the last few years of her life and it was a lovely place. We were especially pleased by the attentiveness and thoughtfulness of the staff - during the COVID-19 pandemic they would drop by with little treats and gifts to brighten the residents' days, and when my grandmother turned 100 they helped me organize a virtual birthday party, even picking up a cake for my grandma.

My Father has been residing at Chartwell Georgian Traditions since 2017. It has truly become his home after moving here from 87 yrs in Victoria. The community has been amazing and I can’t say enough about the staff. Particularly at this time when seniors faculties are a concern with covid, the staff at Georgian Traditions have gone above and beyond to make sure our family members are kept healthy and safe. Through this challenging time everyone has been kind and caring and I cannot say enough thanks to all they are doing. We appreciate all of you and thank you for giving your time and energy to keeping our loved ones safe.

The management and staff at Chartwell are amazing! Going far above and beyond their job descriptions. They really care, and I view them as my support system during this difficult time.

My father in -law George LOVES the staff at Georgian Traditions! They all take the time to say hi to him and ask him how his day is going which makes him feel loved and adored. Although I have only met a few of you he mentions you all by name - the maintenance workers, the chefs, the servers, the housekeeping staff, the nurses, and the administration staff! He tells us he is well cared for and feels safe! A special shout out to Nancy who keeps his spirit alive through her exercise workouts and all the activities she plans - but most importantly her warmth, compassion and sense of humour!
So a BIG thank you to all of you who help to make George feel special and loved! Keep up the fantastic work!

My mother has been a resident at Chartwell Georgian Traditions for 3 1/2 years.

The management and staff are amazing and so thoughtful. As I have learned through my mother s experience that it is all about the staff and management that translates into the residents experience, comfort and satisfaction.

My dear friend, Inge Niestroy, was welcomed with open arms in the Collingwood Chartwell community. Deb McCannell made her feel at home right away. Inge loved her experience there. She loved to eat and was happy to share her meals with others. There was always staff to answer to her needs.
Sadly, Inge passed away in February 2020, but she left this world with dignity, support and love from everyone around her, staying in her own home until the end. The attention brought to her was caring and beautiful.
I would recommend Chartwell Georgian Traditions to anyone wanting a peaceful, carefree retirement home.
They know how to show they care!

Chartwell when comparing quality and care to other organizations and retirement homes, is still by far the best choice. There are others close by and without mentioning names are not as the claim, dont let yourself get attracted to the shiny penny! Chartwell has well a kept home and selects the best staff.
