Chartwell Oak Ridges Retirement Residence

Recently, I had the pleasure of joining my Mom for dinner at Chartwell. The food was great and the service was excellent. A special mention to Denise, our server who was attentive and upbeat. It is obvious that she really cares about her guests and their enjoyment of the dining experience.

Excellent service in the dining room. Great service by Denise! All of the residents take good care of my Aunt.

Rohullah, our maintenance person, came in my suite number 412 to fix the air conditioner, replace a lightbulb and cleaned the kitchen drain. It was a bit sluggish. He was absolutely amazing, very friendly and I found him very competent. He’s the best.
Denise, serving manager in the dining room, is also a very very competent person. She’s quick at what she does and never complains. She is a very good worker.

On behalf of my mother, would like to thank all staff, but especially Gina who makes the extra effort to ensure things are good.

After a great visit with my mum, again I have to thank the staff for their excellent care. Mum really enjoys the exercise classes with Katie while Jila, Michele and Wendy are so welcoming and friendly at the concierge desk. I so enjoyed the meals provided by Rufo, Mary, Aaron and Scott. Denise is so caring for all the residents in the dining room and beyond. Thanks again to Marvin for his thoughtfulness also Dora, Saleha and Alfonse. Such great servers! Shout out to Sarmela and Shania also. Thanks again for all your hard work and love for my mum and others!

My father moved in less than a year ago. I've had some time to reflect and see his interaction and adjustment. From the get go, Linda went above and beyond to make my dad's adjustment so pleasant. Michele, the concierge and everything else she does is top notch. Denise, equally professional and such a ray of sunshine in the dining room. I'm also grateful to the nursing staff and everyone else involved in the care of my dad. Often, they've gone above what's expected and I've never had to ask for anything twice. This is especially meaningful to me as I'm not local. Thank you to all!

Meals times are so important to me. Rufo, Mary, Denise Shania Marvin and Dora looked after us sooooo well. Thanks to all. Our meal was wonderful. Made our visit with Marriane perfect.

Denise is excellent server, offers variation on the meal. Very attentive and helpful to residents. Mary & Scott cooked our trout perfectly.

Chartwell Oak Ridges Retirement Residence is, quite simply, a terrific place to be. As an entertainer, I thoroughly enjoy interacting with the many friendly residents there. The staff are warm and welcoming to visitors and residents alike, and the beautiful aroma of freshly baked cookies wafting from the Cafe is a familiar hallmark virtually every time I play there. The decor is beautifully elegant, and overall, Chartwell Oak Ridges truly represents the good life. I love every experience I have there!

My mom moved in a few weeks ago. She had spent a year in a hospital bed, and had had such a bad experience at the hospital during her stay. She was worried Chartwell would be more of the same. But while they were definitely some learning curves with the assisted living staff (on both her side and their’s), she has really begun to live again. She loves it at Chartwell. She feels like she’s able to do for herself, and loves her new home. It has proven to be just what she needed to get back to where she was physically and mentally pre-medical issues. The help that is available to her makes it possible for her to live on her own. When she lived with me, she relied heavily on me to do everything for her. It wasn’t a life. When my own health turned, and we began looking for a new home, we chose Chartwell Oak Ridges. Mostly because of Leanne and all the staff. They remember everyone that lives there. Everyone living there is happy. I have yet to run into an unhappy resident there. And so many activities that my mom is just beginning to be a part of (at her request). She even stays downstairs to chat after her meals. That’s so unlike her! On a less personal note, the suite is beautiful. My mom has a one bedroom that is perfect for her. It’s super quiet. We can’t hear anyone talking through the walls. No traffic noises. It’s very peaceful. She loves it. Thanks to all for being so helpful!

My mom recently moved into Oak Ridges Retirement and it has been a really positive experience. It is a lovely building with a lot of amenities and she is enjoying living here. The team at Oak Ridges has been especially great, from the initial calls to learn about the residence to now, after move-in. Leanne in particular was a huge help, from providing a tour of the residence, to kindly and patiently answering all of my questions (and there were many!), to working with us to coordinate all of the move-in logistics. I can’t thank her enough for all of her support and assistance. Jason has also been a great resource during and after the move, always available to lend a hand when needed. In addition to Leanne and Jason, I have interacted mostly with the concierge team and food and beverage team, and to a person they have all been consistently friendly, welcoming, happy to assist, and professional, despite the added workload that comes from operating during COVID. Thank you all!

Our mom moved into Chartwell Oak Ridges 2 months ago. We were so impressed during the tour we had with Leanne. We immediately felt so welcomed by everyone we met. Our mom needed assisted care suddenly and we are so thankful to Leanne and Mary who treated our mom with compassion, understanding and patience.
There are so many aspects of Chartwell that make it a very special home for our mom. The entire staff including PSWs, nurses, kitchen staff, concierge, and activities coordinator have all been so caring and accommodating to help ensure our mom’s needs are met. Our mom loves participating in all the daily activities. It helps to fill up her day and interact with the other residents. The nurses are all so very kind and treat our mom with great care. The PSWs have all been wonderful. They are so gentle and patient with her and assist her when needed. The kitchen staff is readily available to accommodate special meal requests and all the meals look delicious. Our mom is an Italian Nonna who prided herself in making all meals from scratch. So, for her to say the food is delicious is the highest compliment.
We are all so thankful to everyone at Chartwell. We know our mom is safe, treated with respect and compassion. A special thank you to Leanne and Mary who have been so very helpful during these past two months. When we had a question or needed assistance they were readily available by phone or email. A heartfelt ️ thank you to everyone who has helped our mom feel special, cared for and loved.

A wonderful clean, safe, and caring residence that feels more like a resort than a retirement home. I investigated several other homes in York Region and Chartwell Oak Ridges came out on top everytime especially with the beautiful garden area. The staff is so kind & caring and Leanne was amazing in all the information, getting things ready for my parents, and excellent communication at all times. My parents moved in September and my dad was really enjoying the wonderful meals and attentiveness of the staff. My mother had more of an adjustment. Unfortunately my father had a sudden & brief illness and passed away at the end of October. The staff were all so very kind and concerned and went out of their way to show my mother lots of attention while my dad was in the hospital, and even more so after he passed away. I was worried how my mother would manage on her own, but they staff have helped greatly and she adjusted to being on her own better than I imagined. Now when she leaves for a bit she says she can't wait to go "home" which is great! Thank you to all the excellent staff, the nurses especially Jacob, the ladies at concierge, the maintenance team for setting up my mom's cable so she can manage it, and especially Leanne for all their help!

I recently brought my mother to Chartwell Oak Ridges for a two week stay after being in the hospital. Linda who helped get settled was amazing. She was thoughtful and kind. Everyone there is helpful and made her stay a pleasant experience. Thank you everyone

I recently helped move my elderly parents into Chartwell Oak Ridges after much consideration. We compared all of the options available to them but kept circling back to this one. The facilities are beautiful, it really feels like resort living, but it was the staff that we were so impressed with. At every level, we have been met with compassionate and friendly members of their team. It has made their transition a pleasant one and to know they are being well cared for gives us great peace of mind.

Today is move in day for my mom…. And we are thrilled! The staff could not be more kind, thoughtful and attentive. We just celebrated Mom’s move with dinner in the dining room and I wish I could come every night! Reviewing the calendar of activities, mom isn’t sure she will need all her library books! Thank you chartwell oak ridges for creating such a beautiful, safe, fun, friendly lifestyle! I’m leaving with a big smile- which is saying a lot on such a tough transition day! Shout out to Linda who is the one that really made this all possible for us with her patience and kindness through our investigation and 2-week trial. Just a wonderful angel on earth! Thank you! Looking forward to memory making ahead!

L'm glad l choose Chartwell Oak Ridge for mum thanks to Leanne, Jason and the rest of the staff for making mum feel welcome, happy and safe.

After many years of living on her own my Mom moved into Chartwell Oak Ridges in August 2020 and the transition has been great. The staff are friendly, positive and responsive. On the day my Mom moved in she was greeted with a large welcome basket of fruit and goodies, especially appreciated as she had to quarantine due to COVID. When a new bedframe was purchased for my Mom, the General Manager of the Residence took the time to assemble it himself, the day after it arrived! After only 2 months at Oak Ridges, my Mom recently stated that “she loves living here, and she loves her suite”.

My dad has resided at Oak Ridges for almost 3 years now. The residence is clean, the staff are caring and my dad is living in a community with friends and an active social life. The staff work tirelessly to ensure the health and happiness of the residents.
