We had a great time with the residents as we were running a Christmas program at the retirement home on Dec 3. All the staff were so helpful, and those seniors who joined the program were friendly.

Chylynne was just wonderful helping our family have a luncheon together.
Staff Katie, Katlyn were so kind in assisting us with this process.

I have been a vendor at Wellington Park for 10 years now. Staff are supportive and welcoming to both residents and staff. The residents are wonderful and often stop to visit and chat while I am there. Over the years I have gotten to know many of the residence and their families.

Thank you Chartwell Wellington Park for all your help with my mom and for providing a place for her to land in a time of crisis. Mom stayed for two months and really enjoyed her time there. I was so impressed by the facilities, the size of her room, and how amazing and caring the staff are! We needed very quick accommodations for my mom and Chylynne and Danielle responded quickly and we were able to get my mom into a suite within about 48-hrs. As a caregiver I also felt supported by the Chartwell team. Mom stayed for two months and made good friends while she was there. There are lots of friendly and social residents there and many activities that helped her pass the time. Mom raves about the friendly staff and the food! She said that she especially loved the daily homemade soups served at lunch and dinner every day. We highly recommend Chartwell Wellington Park.

The family agreed that mom should live at a Chartwell Retirement home. We moved our mother to Wellington Park in Guelph. It was so easy to make the move and transition. Any issues are taken care of immediately. The people are friendly and always communicate with the family. It is a great feeling to know our mother is cared for by professionals. We are very happy with Wellington Park Retirement home.

I have been here for just about 6 year, in about 3 months, i think. Right from the start i thought it was heaven on earth. Everyone is extremely kind and super nice. I can still make my own breakfast but i do go down for lunch and dinner and when i do the staff is amazing. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. It's just that good.

I have been here at Wellington Park almost 2 years this summer. After a fall I could not go home by myself so I came to Guelph to be near my sons. It was a big change after living alone for 20 years to live here and the staff were supportive and helpful. I enjoy my time here and really like everything about living here. There is always someone ready to help me if i need something or have a question. I find the staff are willing and kind I feel respected and cared for. The outside is beautiful, a nice patio and I love to walk around the path with my friends I have made. It is very active here and I enjoy the daily exercise classes and i have even been learning to paint! Living here at Wellington Park I am as happy as I could ever be

My my what can I say. Everything here is wonderful. All the staff under the capable guidance of the general manager perform their duties with a smile day after day. The nursing staff, the chef, the maintenance, reception, the activities department, and the volunteers, especially computer tuition, are always there when needed. I feel with the stringent precautionary measures now taken in these troubled times that I am in the safest place in Canada.

Sincerely,
Jim Bracegirdle

I had the opportunity to do a coop at this facility & had the most amazing experience. Kacie is the program manager & made my experience as great as it was. She was so kind and caring to all of the residents & staff including myself. The whole staff is so welcoming & accommodating to the residents. The residents were a delight to volunteer and spend time with them. I loved hearing all their stories and experiences. I feel it is very important to have an organized and caring facility & was happy to see that that’s exactly what it is there. The activities were very well organized. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a place to do a coop at & to anyone looking for a retirement residence.

I've been here for 2 years. I like the people. I enjoy spending my time here because I feel like i can talk to everyone here. I really enjoy the staff. I always give my honest opinion and i feel listened to. I really enjoy the events here, especially the music. It does feel like a second home. I felt a little nervous about being here at the beginning but as time passes i found myself really enjoying it.

Mom had recently suffered a nasty in fall at home managing to break her ankle and requiring respite care. We looked throughout Guelph visiting several homes with many not offering these services while others were fully booked with no space. We meet with Danielle and she made the enter process seamless from start to finish along with the support staff at Wellington Park Guelph to assist with Mom's short stay and care. Her studio suite is nicely accommodating and we have been able to move in the required equipment to allow mom to be safe along with her staff supporters. Looking forward to her return home however in the meantime feel comfortable knowing she has 24-7 care at her fingertips with a nice place to stay and a good variety of meals daily along with scheduled activities so thank you again Danielle and support staff at Wellington Park for making Mom's respite stay comfortable!

Respite Care

I am a senior living on my own. I began wondering how I would be able to manage through the initial weeks following my surgery. It was impractical to stay at my daughters due to space and accessibility concerns. I did not think that my daughter should be expected to care for me at my apartment. After all she has a family to look after.

In June, my brother-in-law happened to mention an acquaintance of his having a complete knee replacement and being in a situation similar to mine spent the initial recovery weeks at a retirement home. This was called ‘Respite Care’. This seemed like a solution to my predicament.

At the mid-point of my 7 to 9 month timeline I resumed my search. Again online was no help. I drove to a major healthcare centre inquiring if they provided this service. This center did not offer this service and suggested that I contact the local LHIN (Local Health Integration Network – Waterloo/Wellington) office for information. I drove to their office to find them closed (Covid) ; but, giving a phone number to call as they were not doing any in-person. I should also note here that they had a notice posted saying that all retirement residences were no longer providing respite due to Covid. I called the number and spoke to someone, in Kitchener/Waterloo, who knew nothing of Guelph. She did provide me with the names to two local retirement residences to contact. One being the Chartwell Royal on Gordon. Later that day in a conversation with the manager of a mobility/recovery device firm, she told me that they had very recently delivered devices to the Royal.

I immediately contacted the Royal and arranged a tour of their facility and met with their Retirement Living Consultant. I had the tour and meeting and decided that this was exactly what I was looking for. I gave a verbal commitment to them. We could not proceed further until I had a date for the surgery. I was also advised that space was to availability and that if they were at capacity they could arrange for me to go to the Chartwell Wellington Park, on Janefield Drive. Quite understandable.

I received my surgery date with only two week notice. The Royal was at capacity and if I wanted they would refer me to Wellington Park. YES. I met with Danielle, Retirement Living Consultant, had the tour and made the commitment for beginning my respite the third day following my surgery.

I have been at Wellington Park for ten days and I am very pleased with the decision to use their service. My daughter and family are quite relieved with my respite care decision and are very impressed with the Residence.

The, staff, I mean everyone, is friendly, cheerful and helpful. Care, should need it is readily available. The head nurse, Martha, returns from her home every second evening to clean, dry and check the incision for infection, following my shower. Meals are excellent, tasty and quite varying. The wait staff is friendly and even remembers some of your preferences. The suites are spacious, reasonably appointed and most importantly clean. The bathroom has a walk-in shower complete with a seat and grab bars. Wellington Park’s maintenance man installed my toilet seat riser for me. Laundry is provided on a weekly basis. Their spacious great hall features plenty of comfortable seating options, fire place, grand piano and a pool table. There are daily varying activities. Everyone is friendly. Other features include a hair dresser, mail room, bistro providing warm refreshments/snacks, activity rooms and a fitness room.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with Wellington Park. It was the right thing for me. I fully plan on returning following the replacement of my left knee, in a few months (hopefully).

There is not adequate information readily availability on Respite Care. Finding it was a bit of a struggle hopefully the retirement homes providing this service will see fit to add more information regarding the respite option on their websites.

I started at Chartwell when I was in my last year of high school. I did my co-op here and helped out the staff and got to knew the lovely residents. I had so much fun and loved the energy that about 6 months later I decided to come back and apply for the receptionist position. I’ve been here a month and I’m absolutely loving it. I’m going to go to school for recreational therapy so I can continue to grow and make peoples lives better.

My Mom well into her 90’s finally decided it was time to live in a retirement community. We looked high & low until we finally found Wellington and could not have made a better choice. She is happier than ever. I think this place will put years on her life. The meals are great. She is eating better than she ever has. She has made lots of new friends. The staff is super friendly and supportive and I give Trina the manager 5 extra stars for walking the extra mile in making this a smooth transition.

Trina and the Wellington Team are wonderful! The facility is clean and beautiful and one thing you'll consistently hear from residents is how much they like the meals. I'm extremely impressed with how they have navigated COVID. They have kept mom and their residents safe and provided clear and transparent communication for family members on a regular basis. It gives me great peace of mind to know she is safe and being well taken care of. I'm truly grateful:)

We have been residents at Chartwell Wellington Park for over one month. The staff here have made us feel so welcome. Our rooms are bright, cheerful and we overlook a garden. The meals are excellent. The variety is wonderful. We appreciate all the efforts to keep us safe from COVID-19. We look forward to the return of the many activities. Our thanks to everyone.

As an owner of In Order Co, a professional organizing company, one of our service is to support seniors with the downsizing process. We recently had the opportunity to work directly with Amelia at Chartwell Wellington Park and it was a fantastic experience! Amelia was working with a couple who was planning to move from their family home to Wellington Park. She recognized that they needed extra support with their move and reached out to us to help. Amelia had their best interests at heart and together we supported the couple through the entire process. In Order Co.is proud to work with Chartwell Wellington Park as they continue to demonstrate to us that they go above and beyond to make the transition for their residents as easy as possible.

The biggest problem with Wellington Park is the food. My grandmother lives there and some of the meals she gets you shouldn't see in a retirement home.
She was telling me about the time she got pizza for dinner and how she couldn't eat it because she has dentures. Or when both her lunch and dinner are pasta meals. And for some reason they decided to serve tacos. Why would you think tacos are a good meal choice for a senior. I get that the $5000.00 they pay per month goes to renting the apartment and keeping them safe, but some of that money should go to better food.
I also want to point out, I had a meal with my grandmother in the dinning hall and it was the worst meal I ever had. When I have meals with her, I take her out for dinner.

Careful, considerate management coupled with a professional staff that goes the "extra mile" every day to make residents as comfortable as they can be.
