The Chinese barbecue on Markham's Little Italy Pedestrian Street is open late, the environment and service are very good, and the price is average.

Have returned.

Super popular Chinese BBQ skewers, with really good service but with fairly high prices.

Recommendations: can't go wrong with beef and lamb skewers. Pork is skippable unless you really like pork belly.

Squid is very skippable at $8.9 for just one skewer, 5pcs total.

Debit or CASH.
I think it's a decent feed if you're blind to prices. Expect $40+pp

Great patio space especially having Deborah as our server. She was very attentive and caring and even took care of our dog. Deborah even came and offered to cut up our grilled squid for us.

Its a nice little asian restaurant, I really liked the food here you should definitely give it a try.

Love coming here. Only thing that sucks is the wait time - but it's a nice chill atmosphere on the patio. Sometimes you feel like a zoo animal because peeps walk by and just look at what you are eating. But whatevs. Also, JADE was a great server. Super polite, friendly and attentive.

Great place to enjoy your weekends, taste of food was authentic and fresh. The service was absolutely outstanding too, Jade, a very patient and friendly girl, helped us with ordering and kept checking on our needs. Second time here and definitely coming back here again!

The service here is really good. We arrived but the tables were full. They took our number and called us when it was ready. Instead of waiting around, we were able to walk around main st unionville while we waited. The food here is really good. We got a few skewers, Chinese buns, enoki mushrooms, spicy garlic shrimp, spicy cold noodles and braised pork rice. We couldn't finish all the food and had to take some back. Bill came to about $80. The service was really good. The server always checked with us to see if we needed anything. Definitely would came back again.

Actual Review On Food From Best To Worst
- Sausage was the best, sweet, salty and deciduous
- Beef was seasoned very well but it was half meat half cartilage/tendons/fat
- Chicken Wings w/ Honey, great flavor, good amount of meat
- Lamb, not as well seasoned as the beef however it was more meaty which I liked
- Cucumbers, tasted great and a refreshing break from the ungodly amount of meat
- Chicken, not seasoned well however I like it because it was all meat with no fat. I'm bulking
- Scallops, this was one of the top dishes according to my girlfriend but we have different taste buds so I beg to differ. Reviews are subjective, why are you still reading? ¯_ (ツ) _/¯
- Pork Belly, do not get. The fat was not melting in my mouth, it
was gross
- Eggplant, I don't like eggplant, it was for my girlfriend and she liked it

Overall, great experience and the server really made my day. Shoutout to Jamie!

Chat bar is a great family or a first/ millionth date location. Great food and excellent service. The restaurant is small but the ambiance and the fell is great. The skewers are just plain awesome. The oysters and the spicy clams are to die for. The place can get busy so reserve before going in or pick non peak times. Also after a good meal, walk across the street and get some coffee or ice cream at the fire station.

Went for date night was really nice concept, good food, certain items were not the best in turns of quality but over all a solid 8/10

Very North-field ChineseStyle BBQ, All the meat is grilled on skewers, very flavorful and goes great with cold beer. It will be a bit spicy, but compared with the tasty flavors, it is not worth mentioning. The storm provide real rock board with candle beneath it to keep the hot grilled meat warm when you eating them, really good idea)

Went in on a gloomy Saturday afternoon and it wasn't crowded. I really enjoyed the food, flavors and ambience. The beef short rib was chewy but everything else was great. Service was terrific - the staff were friendly and attentive which is kind of rare to find now. If you are tired of the usual sports bar style restaurants and food I'd definitely recommend this place.

Delicious Chinese skewer place in the heart of Unionville, ON area. Seating not the most comfortable, but nice small restaurant with good vibes. Staffs were nice and friendly. Many options for you to choose on skewers. Best pairing with beer or cold drinks. Overall 4 stars!

Very friendly staff. Food was very flavourful and tasty. Some dishes were a bit too spicy for my liking. I recommend to check it out if you haven't been before. Reservations not accepted and it gets quite busy.

I was introduced to Chat Bar by a family member. Having lived in Japan for 3 years i frequented a lot of Izakaya. I was pleasantly surprise to enjoy this similar cuisine but Chinese! The Chinese Chuan'r is as great as it is unique. I have been back over a half of dozen times and each time I am more impressed than the last. I have introduced Chat Bar to both family and friend's and it never disappoints! Please excuse the photo but it was the aftermath and proof of a great night out!

Very friendly and helpful staff with great service. They accommodated a walk in of 12 people and were very attentive. The food was delicious with tasty marination. Enjoyed the broccoli, eel, oysters and beef.

The food taste really good and Vivian was very nice and went above and beyond. We'll come back again.

The food here is out of the world, their skewers are fresh drinks just keeps flowing. One dish that I would like to highlight is their oyster dish is simply a must try it you like oysters. The only complaint I have is that sitting is so tight makes it very uncomfortable!

Susan was our very friendly, most informative server, with a welcoming 'smile' that beamed on her entire face, regardless of the mask. She did us well by recommending the tastiest, well-seasoned, tender lamb 'sticks'; the short ribs were pretty good too and the cumin-dusted okra was actually a surprisingly delicious treat and showed up to our table, cooked to absolute perfection.so we ordered lots of all of those!
While the chicken sticks were a little dry and tendon-y, the shrimp were also a surprise due to their 'off' flavour but those chicken hearts were a lasting letdown, as they were a bit too chewy and undercooked.
I grew up with stewed chicken hearts, a fave since childhood ~ but always only ever had them cooked into tender juicy bundles. As a chef myself - when it comes to any poultry parts, underdone only has a taste that resembles the smell of raw chicken, it stays with you for awhile. While open-minded about trying new things, my gut instinct was to simply avoid it but my date ordered it so I felt compelled to try it. I needed steamed rice and lemon water to rinse that residual flavour down.
Only then could I wash it down with the tasty TsingTao beer!
But chicken hearts aside, the eggplant was to die for! Its presentation was superb, perfectly cooked. It also pleasantly surprised my palate as it was graced with fresh chopped coriander, among other spices. I'm still sorry we didn't order seconds!
The ambience was perfect; the service as attentive as one might ever wish for. For a 1st date, we wanted an adventure, and found it by searching online for Korean BBQ by my request. Regardless of the cold and rainy evening, we enjoyed our drive up to quaint downtown Unionville for the occasion!
The only real detriment were the seats. They looked cool and likely allowed for more seating overall ~ reminiscent of squared-off tree stumps. But considering we walked in upright, strong and happy ~ we both have suffered with excruciating back pain from the moment we rose from our table last Friday - right up to and including the time of writing this review the following Wednesday, as requested by the lovely Susan. But yes, it was nevertheless a truly exotic meal experience neither one of us will soon forget.

Thé best food in Unionville - Will definitely be back, so flavourful - Just right on the spice and presentation of each dish is Instagram worthy. Served bu the two sweetest ladies Jessica and Vivian. Highly recommend - a great night out and then walk along the lighted street perfect for the holidays

Always a 5 star experience with chat bar, regardless of location!

Ordered takeout and still got the same quality service and feel of a dine in experience. Everyone that passed us was super friendly amd greeted us.

Food was as usual, high quality and flavourful. The shrimp was so nice just sitting in a bath of garlic fused liquid. Skewers were plentiful with the meat being so juicy and with a kick of heat. We chose the mild spice level

And those appetizers of cheese corn and cheese potato. The creamy and sweet of the potato amd corn combining so well with the cheese! These are totally the must get when coming to chat bar!

Great job overall! Definitely coming back!

We went there for my birthday dinner ~ It was really enjoyable … Vivian hosted us & she was absolutely lovely - We would go back simply because how great it was being served by her … Restaurant gets five star because of Vivian & the food was delicious too

Great place for some Chinese BBQ with friends. The only I wish they had was more beer selection.

Julia and Chloe were our vendors and they were great! Gave our food right on time and made sure we needed anything. The food is absolutely amazing. Coming from NY, I was very surprised that the Asian culture and food was this flavorful and good. Highly recommend!

Been here many times and always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Vivian answered our many menu questions and was very attentive during the meal. Extra plates and water was always ready before we even asked.

My husband and I had discovered Chat Bar a few years ago while strolling through Unionville. We were blown away by the amazing flavours - the grilled eggplant is perhaps our favourite! During the months of pandemic lockdown we often reminisced of our favourite restaurants that we missed and Chat definitely came up all the time.
Now that things are reopening were finally able to make our way back to Chat Bar this weekend and it is just as yummy as we remembered! We were served by Vivian who was really helpful & warm. Grilled eggplant is a must if you like spice. The wings and short ribs are also great! This time we tried the kimchi fried rice and were not disappointed.
I love a restaurant with great flavours that you can walk away from feeling full and satisfied but not stuffed and sluggish!

Atmosphere is super energetic and nice. Good was delicious, especially with a nice Coors Light! Shout out to Vivian the waitress. She was really nice and super helpful.
