Great bridge and scenic views, just be careful as a cyclist or pedestrian crossing, especially with construction surrounding the area.

Did you know that 16 rivers join the1271 km long Kitchissippi on it's way to the St. Lawrence River? When Spring Thaw takes place up the Kitchissippi (Ottawa River - Rivière des Outaouais) the narrowing Chaudière Falls overflow. When there is an unusual amount of snow this can be spectacular with waves licking the underside of the Chaudière Bridge. The best view of this is from the Portage Bridge.

The Chaudière Falls, also known as Kettle Falls or Cauldron Falls, are also known as Asticou or Akikodjiwan in Anishinaabemowin, with the whirlpool at the bottom considered the bowl of a great peace pipe.

It would have been a memorable portage point during the fur trade. Nowadays it's a place where you can barely slow down to have a look. Hopefully the ''Zibi'' (river) development will bring a positive change to this long neglected space. Visit Chaudièrefalls.com to plan your visit and consider walking on the Chaudière Bridge one day.

A place of power and history at which most people don't stop. Park at the War Museum and take a walk to the jaw-dropping public viewing site

As a scenic viewpoint, this bridge can be amazing - especially during spring floods.
Simply drive through and glimpse the river, or park in Gatineau or the Ottawa side on the street, and walk a few minutes to the bridge. Also view the Parliament buildings from here, or walk to the viewing platform 100m to the west. Pedestrian access is close to heavy traffic so be careful.
