Chawk Bazar (South Asian Eatery)

I order fried Rice, chili chicken and Thai soup chicken mono, (steamed and fried) Hakka noodle they serve me white colour sour taste chicken and said it’s chili chicken.i send the picture which doesn’t match.no apology for serving wrong food.

Yesterday after the very first snowfall in Toronto, I decided to visit Chawk Bazaar with family and cousin. We were really excited about the Bangla Chinese and we ordered mostly everything from their special menu. Chicken cashew nut salad was too spicy and the fried chicken amount was less. The spice level was too much in the salad. Thai soup was below mediocre. Fried rice and the thangra chilli chicken was okay.
We would go to try the Bengali food next time but not recommending bangla Chinese. Service was excellent… the waiter and the ambiance was the most good part about the restaurant.

The Best Chinese food in town. Even though it is not a Chinese restaurant, their Chinese dishes are simply excellent. I tried their chicken Chowmen, Chicken Fried Rice and Wonton, all of them were out of this world. The best Chinese food I ever tasted. Service is super, price is reasonable, nice music, I am definitely going back to try other dishes.

Extremely disappointed! What happened to the food quality? ! Chicken biryani literally looked and tasted like rice and curry mix. Thats cheating. Thats NOT biryani. And what happened to using kalijeera rice? Are we doing straight ‘bhaat biryani now? ” Also The tehari ordered was extremely dry, unappetizing and had a strong floral smell. Major waste of money. Throwing all the leftover in the garbage. Do better chawk bazar.

The haleem and thai soup here is incredible! Definitely a must try! Staff is extremely kind and helpful:)

My first and last experience at Chowkbazar restaurant
When we buy something from a restaurant in the country or abroad and the amount of money we spend, that money is our hard-earned money, the money does not fly in the air in any illegal way. Many new restaurants have opened and closed in front of my eyes in Canada just for the quality of their food! The saddest thing is that Bangladeshi restaurant owners here capitalize on the emotions of our Bangladeshis and increase their financial capital. It is very sad! This afternoon my wife and I ordered some food at Chawkbazar restaurant, we were really surprised and saddened by the food. Are these really any food suitable for food? I doubt it! What they call chicken biryani is not really chicken biryani, it is actually a mixture of cooked chicken with rice and the flavor of kacha masala. I didn't want to talk about others food! Those of you who will eat at this restaurant are entirely of your own opinion and decision. I have shared my personal experience. Please do not take this personally. This was my first Chawkbazar experience and I can say it will be my last experience. I believe people value every penny.

I have visited this Bangladeshi restaurant several times in the past few months and have consistently had a great experience. It is an ideal place to introduce others to Bangladeshi cuisine. We had the pleasure of trying their Deshi Bangla Chinese menu, and it was a nostalgic reminder of what we get back home - the beef tehari and khichuri with Hilsa fry were exceptionally tasty. Additionally, their fried rice and fried chicken from the Bangla Chinese menu were personal favorites of mine. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to indulge in authentic Bangladeshi cuisine.

Ordered Catering for 8 items, except the Lebu Pata dal all the dishes were really bad. Egg and chicken were cooked in same curry Sauce, the beef was full of fat and bones. Telapia was not edible. Not ordering again.

Okayish! We ordered kacchi biryani and chotpoti.my friends didn’t like the chotpoti but I liked it.the kacchi was okay and meaty.

Their food quality has gone really bad. A few weeks ago I ordered biryani combo through uber eats which also came with a dessert (payesh). I don’t know how long it was sitting in the fridge because the moment I opened it I could tell it is rotten. It smelled really bad. Before that I ordered tehri which was served with a boiled egg and I am pretty sure that boiled egg was stored in the fridge for weeks (it became hard and chewy). Today my brother ordered rice chicken roast halim dal and and chola only the chola and the rice were eatable. The roast was old and just warmed up. Halim tasted like dal. They make food and leave them in the fridge for a long time and just warm it up before they deliver. I am assuming they do it for the uber eats customers. I am not a dining customer so can’t tell about their dining service. But I will never order again and will not recommend chawkbazar.

Beware of this restaurent! We picked up ghee fried Jalebi today and 'bad' is an overstatement for it. It's not fried in Ghee, it's fried in 'dalda', which is a cheap version of Ghee in West Bengal. It's literally unedible and they charged $22/lb for these jalebis! Such a fraud restaurent!

We tried Chinese food. Soup was below par. The fried chicken was smelly and old. Crashaw Nut salad was above par. The fish steam was excellent. Service was very good. The atmosphere was good but the space was very small. Overall, lots of area of improvements especially in food.

Since 2021, I’ve been ordering from Chawk Bazar and they’re awesome?

I get to taste all the flavours from back home. Every Ramadan they bring in all the items I grew up eating and it honestly means a lot. Tonight there was a delay with delivery and they offered to issue a credit for the entire order. I received the delivery (in case anyone is wondering)

I hope you guys continue to grow and never stop bringing all the flavours from home to us?

On New Year’s Eve, we ordered food and had our friend picked up the food for us since they lived close to their location but when our friends got there, the people at the restaurant won’t give them the food claiming that we need the person whose name is on the order.they also mention that apparently people pretend to be the person picking up the food, but actually stealing them. That’s why they won’t give our friends the food that we ordered. We even spoke to them and even sent screenshots of the order but still, they refused to give the food to our friends after talking to them for an hour regarding this. In the end we had to go there to pick up the food and we tried calling them while we were on the way, but nobody picked up. And to compensate for all this hassle, they gave us free roast.
Now coming to last week, we again ordered from them, and this time the person who had actually ordered the food went in person to pick up the food so that the last incident wont to repeat but this time something new happened. When we got there to pick up the food, they said we have to wait as the food was not prepared. We understood and came back after 15 minutes to pick up the food and the manager tells us that some Uber driver took the food and mind you we ordered two bags of food, that’s like four trays. How can someone take the food just like that? Then they made the food again apparently and we had to wait another 20 minutes. This food was ordered three days prior to this online. We came at our pick up time right before Iftar, and still disappointed that the food was not ready, and then, when it was ready, it was gone with someone else now when we asked for the manager, the person who was responsible for the food was the manager. This is the last time I will ever order from this place the food which was made later was so bad, I could not even imagine that I have to go with so much hassle twice in a row. You should definitely change your manager and fix your customer service.

Food was delicious and quality quantity was good enough. Customer service was professional. Price is a bit expensive compare to restaurant atmosphere. However, overall great. I recommend this place to have authentic Bangladeshi Halal food

Tried this Bengali restaurant for the first time. Location, Ambience, Music and Food, all are great! I had Bhuna Khichuri with Baigun bharta. Khichdi came with achaar that was yumm. Food was really home made. Khichdi could have been softer the way traditional khichuri is, but even the dry khichuri was quite nice.

But, they are severely understaffed. There was one server handling EVERYTHING:
1. Dine-in guests (some of them really difficult and annoying ones, yet he was very patient with them, respect!)
2. The online orders that were coming in, so coordinating with the kitchen as to what’s dine in and what’s take away
3.handling take away courier agents

He was doing a good job, but he forgot one of my orders. I had specifically asked for Mango Lassi, but there was no sight of it…
The server was a bit hassled, so I didn’t bug him about it, I just took my food (remaining doggy parcel) and left.

That’s why 4 stars instead of 5. You need at least one more person so orders aren’t forgotten and guests don’t feel guilty calling the server over and over again!

But I will certainly go back there for more bong food

Food is really good overall, service is friendly and welcoming. However, the place is a bit small to accommodate enough people at a time. We were turned down twice when we went in for dinner. Once for being fully reserved it seems. Second, for it being close to closing time which is 9 PM. At least on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays should be open until 10 PM at least. Food is delicious though. We tried fuchka and bhortas. Also, chicken shami kebab.

I was a big fan of Chawk Bazar food. So I got excited when they introduced Bangla Chinese. We ordered Deshi Thai soup, Egg Fried rice with chicken, Beef chilli onion and Chicken cashew nut salad along with drinks and chotpoti. Only Drinks and chotpoti were tasty. Deshi Thai soup didn’t have any shrimp, very little chicken- like super hot (jhal) bowl of soup with no taste at all. Rest of the dishes are bland and flavourless. Not at all tasty. Didn’t expect that from Chawk Bazar. Very disappointing. Two stars for the service, drinks and chotpoti.

The worst food I have ever taken. I have ordered Goat meat in Biyae bari r menu dish and found they have provided beef instead. I could have gone in their outlet to challenge but since the shop was in Scarborough and I was in brampton did not go.they charged $5 extra for the goat meat and instead gave us beef.strongly it was the first and last time for me.

One of my favourite restaurants to eat kacchi biriyani (s). The only thing I don’t like about them is that, they are very pricey. So, I feel bad for that.

I ordered beef kacchi biryani today. It seems like they forgot to put salt in it. The potatoes of kacchi were totally tasteless. Overall, the quality of food didn't justify the high price that they charged.

I really wanted to put 5 stars but I could not because I was very dissatisfied with the order that we received and the lack of customer service. On january 1st, 2021 we ordered the party platter as it was New Year and my mother's birthday. It cost about 73 dollars for it. The platter includes 4 roasts, 4 parathas that were cut in half making it to 8 half slices, 1 kg kala bhuna with large cloves of garlic.a tray of puloa, Deshi salad, 4 pieces of shami kabob, and dessert which was phirini/ kheer. For the price of the food the portion sizes were disappointing and lacking. The tray of rice was small, chicken roast was pretty much drenched in oil, deshi salad was not deshi salad, there was slices of carrots and onions with a small bed of lettuce and small cucumber slices. The kheer looked as if it only served 2 people and not 4. The paratha's looked store bought. Also, one of the garlic cloves on the kala bhuna had a nasty mold on it. Clearly, there was no care when making certain items. The food was tasty especially the kheer but for the price that we paid, you would think that there would be enough food, however, unfortunately it was not. I am someone who supports small businesses but I felt that Chawk Bazar raised their prices lately and the quality has gone down. I've been to chawk bazar many times before the pandemic hit, but I have no idea what happened to the quality and quantity of their food?
Also, when my father emailed them about our dissatisfaction, there was no response from them and we indeed waited about a month for their reply but nothing. I don't know if Chawk Bazar changed management but this is VERY VERY disappointing both customer service, price, quality and the quantity. A party platter should be what it is, a party platter.

Not sure if their chef falls asleep. Sometimes the taste is different but it's tasty in both ways and coocked with quality products. I love their website where I can order without talking to them. Real Bangladeshi style. I look forward to Dhaka style shik kabab and chaap.

I have always been a fan of their food and specially kacchi biryani. Really good quality and quantity. Probably the best bengali cuisine restaurant in Toronto. The foods are really authentic. Have been a regular customer for years. Although I noticed recently they are decreasing their quantity in the large kachchi biryani platter during covid. Hope, they keep the quality and quantity same, if cost has increased maybe increase the price.

Been fan of their food menus long since 2018. After moving to Toronto, their Maro chokkha offer has been my go to for dailies. Specially their free daal and rice part.
Quality wise, it always gives me back home tasted and vibes. Even During pandemic, their timely home delivery amazes me. Recommended if you’re craving South Asian cousin.

Food is okay but overpriced for the quantity. Naga kakra is the only dish i think is worth the price, everything else is super overpriced. You will get the same quality of food if you go to any other bangladeshi restaurant. I ordered takeout last week for 4 people which was 80 bucks but the food wasnt enough. Not worth for the price but not bad quality food

Guys, this place has gone completely downhill and continue eating from here at your own risk. We are never going to buy food at this place again and definitely not encouraging this sort of business that dish out poor quality and unhealthy food and horrible devil-may-care attitude towards customers. All my friends and community members within Oakville have dumped this place as soon as they realized they were being cheated and taken for a ride! Very soon all of GTA will join in avoiding such cheap-stake places.

We have been eating here for years from the time they opened. We used to travel all the way from Oakville and back. But lately some very unacceptable things have started to take place at the location. I’ve been trying to get in touch with the Owner and have left numerous message (s) for him so I could give him the feedback. We really loved eating here for years and though the Owner would care about our feedback. But he never bothered to respond to our efforts in reaching him which indicates he is well aware of what’s going on in his shop.

Top notch food and service. Excellent variety of authentic Bangladeshi cuisine. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious and flavourful. Specially, Kacchi Biriyani & Lamp shank roast can't be compared. Best bengali food in the city. Highly recommended.

Great authentic Bangladeshi food with big portions and lots of flavour. Customer service is always great and packaging is sturdy and environmentally friendly. Highly recommend!

Fantastic food! The real deal Bangladeshi food. It is so hard to find in the West end of Toronto. Well worth the very long drive from where I live to order pick up.

Not affordable for international students like us. The price of everything is very high. It would be great if they can give some discount to the students

We ordered the mutton biryani family platter for take-out. We absolutely loved it!
We were pleasantly surprised to see that there was more meat in the biryani than rice, and it was delicious! The biryani also came with plenty of salad, chicken roast, kebabs, eggs, borhani and dessert (gulab jamun).
There was plenty left over after feeding a family of four, so we finished it off the next day. We will most certainly be ordering from Chawk Bazar again.

I didn’t even want to rate them 1 star.they are just doing business with some tasteless food! Ordered some Bengali dishes with mutton kacchi.the kacchi was nothing but vuna khichuri with mutton.the Bengali dishes were all saltless and tasteless.nothing near to the original recipe!

People who say” I don’t know how to cook” chawk Bazar Kacchi Biryani is for them. I order 4 people Kacchi Biryani package and every item is worst then others. If you call it Kacchi Biryani make it like a Kacchi. Cheape ingredients and bad chef who doesn’t know what spices use in Kacchi Biryani.
Also the delivery packaging is bad because the hot item they cover it in a box and by that time I come home, food get spoiled.
West of my time and money.

Last night i had bad experience with Chawk Bazar food (Kachhi Biriyani). The rice portion was mixed rice, was watery soggy, but mutton was tender. I can't call this- Kachhi Biriyani not even mutton Biriyani. I hope the owner will improve the quality with better n experianced cook.

HORRIBLE! They do not serve authentic bengali food. We ordred Kachi Biryani this week and it was nothing like the original Kachi we are used to having.total waste of money! It felt like they mixed meat with rice and called it Kachi Biryani, and on top of that the rice was not cooked properly!

When we called to complain we were ignored! Please save your time and money and do not visit this place!

I was really frustrated with their handling of my order of Mutton Kacchi Biryani. When I went there to pick up my order they said Mutton Kacchi Biryani is sold out and they gave me another meal. They apologized and as a good gesture they sent a complimentary Mutton Kacchi Biryani the next week. This really surprised me and for this reason I gave them a 5 star. I would only ask the restaurant to be more careful in managing orders. Thanks!

Overall food was good, not the best but having authentic Bengali food delivered at the door step is more than what I could’ve asked for. And the variations are amazing! Foods are nicely packed too. What I didn’t like is the beef quality and all curries are liitle to oily! Would order again!

What makes a lazy person do a review?
A bad service probably so bad that the person did not get what he ordered. I don’t know what was wrong with them?
I ordered a Khichuri Nov 18 around 9PM. I paid 10 bucks for that. I was waiting for my food after a long day of work and all I got was just Dal and Rice. No meat at all. I mean why would a non-vegiterian pay 10 bucks for Dal and Rice?

The wait time was faster than mentioned, one star for that and another for the Dal and Rice. Never going back there.

Previously I posted a complaint regarding this order which I have deleted later. Because I have shared this issue with the restaurant management and I am impressed with their professionalism, feedback and response regarding this complaint. I appreciate how they valued their customer. They have taken the complaint very seriously and came with a respectful resolution. Thanks a lot for such attitude. It means they really care about their customer and the quality of their service.

Giving this restaurant 1 star is very easy. We ordered mutton Kaachi yesterday and I can’t tell what I ate. It’s not even close to any biryani or tehari. Felt like eating some polau rice with meat and Potatoes in the biryani also half cooked. Stay away from this restaurant and save your money.

Wouldn't say it's great. Fell abit short of quality. I ordered the chicken paloa. The rice was definitely not paloa rice and was abit soggy. Chicken to my surprise was undercooked. Service was good on the positive side but that's about it. Not recommending this place.

Nice place, good food and welcoming staff. The food tasted really nice. Good balance of spices and smelled really nice. The food quantity was also good. Would recommend trying their chicken roast pulao and chicken chaap
