Chelsea Hotel, Toronto

Great location in downtown. We keep coming back as we have medical appointments at the hospital a couple blocks away. We appreciate the discount for hospital patients. Rooms are a bit dated and could use some work. But they're clean and functional. Parking is convenient underground. Coffee and breakfast sammiches at the little to go bar are really good and well priced.

Although it's a beautiful lobby, and staff are friendly. The room itself was very disappointing. I had stayed at this hotel previously on business a couple years ago and returned here with family for the Labor Day long weekend to have a completely different and disappointing experience.
The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the air conditioner in the room was very loud, every time it clicked on or off it woke us up. None of us slept well. The door to the balcony was jammed and didn't open, the room itself looked worn out worn and in bed of some touch ups / maintenance. There television was tiny, and overall cleanliness was seriously lacking. When we unrolled the bath mat there was a lump of hair, the toilet had not been cleaned properly with dried of urine from the previous guess. Overall not what I experience in the past, and certainly not what we expected.

Location is great and you can easily explore the city on foot. The hotel is very old. The rooms are more than in need of renovation. Windows are leaking and there is a draft. It is also very loud and there is a plague of pigeons on the small balcony
The furnishings are very worn out. There is mold in the bathroom and the air conditioning didn't work in either room. We were really freezing in the evening! Our request to open the safe that had been locked by the previous tenant for us was not followed up on in four days. At least the beds were clean and the housekeeping staff was nice.
Overall, the rooms were completely overpriced. It's a shame, there won't be a next time here for us.

My family has been coming here every so often for years. It has Decent staff, great location, clean rooms and feels safe. It would be nice if the cleaning chemicals were scent free. Several times in the past my son and I got ear infections after swimming in the pool. I have no idea if it's better now because I won't go back in their pool.

I walked into the Delta Chelsea looking for a room without a reservation. I talk to the concierge’s he assured me that the room will be available I waited one hour when I got up to the front no room was available, they sort of shrugged it off like a joke.long story short, don’t go to the Delta Chelsea.

The rooms needed some soundproofing both from the outside and inside hallways But the hotel itself had many amenities and the location close to the Eaton Centre was excellent.

Awesome experience rooms clean and ready. Easy check in and out. Super great staff. Loved the restaurant delicious dinner. Will definitely be back.

This hotel was booked for our vacation through a travel agent, and if we were able to pick a hotel and area, this wouldn't have been for us, as it is too busy and loud of an area. The staff are all helpful and polite, which is a great bonus to the hotel. The rooms were excellently cleaned and tended to by the room staff during our visit. The lobby is well presented but can be confusing as there are 4 entrances to the hotel so can get lost or confused easily of you can't remember which entrance or exit you used when you left the hotel earlier in the day.
Personally, for our vacation, the hotel wasn't suited to what we required. It is based near the downtown area and between the university and hospital area, so unfortunately, you do hear sirens a lot and enough of the traffic that is going past.
Sadly, the breakfast wasn't up to scratch either for the price that was paid for the continental option. I found the milk for the cereal to be warm and not kept cold. The selection was rather poor, too, in my opinion.
The hotel room balcony was dirty and had cigarette packets and dimps on there. There is a lot of bird droppings on all the balconies which ideally need cleaning, this was disappointing with the rubbish on the balcony.
The hotel will have different needs for different people, so it will live up to different expections, please do not let this review put you off visiting this hotel.

TLDR: One of the worst hotel experiences of my life do not stay here unless you’re a young family of 12 who loves being in loud crowded places receiving no assistance from employees while children scream and run (and get their faces painted while throwing around popcorn) everywhere around you.

Full review:

Check in experience was something out of a 90’s children’s holiday special nightmare. Queue of 50 people just to check in, singing-talking robot nightmare from hell blasting music and attempting to interact with you while waiting in line to check in, tvs playing loud movies, children running around screaming, no employees providing directions or assistance with navigating the building. The lobby was like a bizarre children’s nightclub the entirety of my stay.

Room was freezing cold the entire time, no matter how high I turned the thermostat. Bed didn’t have a duvet cover, just a duvet sandwiched between two sheets which made sleeping a tangled mess and also kinda grossed me out. Hopefully they thoroughly wash the duvets between stays.

Other issues:

No way to cast to tv unlike other hotels unless you bring your own chrome cast.
Despite being advertised on the in room tv.

Bathroom sink drained really slowly.

Couldn’t find ice on my floor, but room had ice bucket.

Children could be heard running in the halls the whole time.

Pillows suck.

Well staffed. Friendly and professional. The location is great! The lobby is nice! The rooms were in need of some updates. The shower was old and a bit rusty. The carpet and chair were from the 1970s. Mini fridge would be nice. The beds were ok. Rates are quite high for what is offered inside the room. Balcony was a nice feature.

Always very popular, in a central and strategic position, well connected, it is still a North American hotel, both for the furnishings and for the presence of carpets everywhere. Rooms with balconies at least offer the possibility of breathing unconditioned air. Expensive but very practical and huge garage.

Check in experience was professional. Room is decently sized with a balcony as well. However, the balcony had a terrible view (see attached picture). The blanket also had a spot that smelled like puke. The front door was leaking light into the room, more so than the blackout curtains. I tried contacting the front desk on three separate occasions and got no response. Checking out was a mess, looked like the hotel was understaffed. If leaving luggage with the bellhops I would suggest having cash in hand or going earlier than the checkout time. There was no line or order, bellhop simply went to whoever had cash in hand first.

Stayed there this past month for 3 days during my vacation. One of the Worse experiences ever. I could only get signal for the wifi when I'm in the bathroom. Tried to call the hotel and their technical service. That didn't help, they tried to reset access point, but i never got better service.

As I'm from the US, having no service didn't allow us to be able to search for places to explore at the comfort of our own room. We had to dress up to go down to the lobby to get wifi signal. It also meant that we couldn't watch any sort of movie on our laptop, so we were stuck with whatever was on cable.

The room was ok, furniture looked old, and the balcony was dirty so I didn't really want to be out there. In the future when I visit toronto again, I would make sure to try staying at a different hotel. As the hotel didn't seem to care when I brought up the wifi concern.

Lovely hotel in a great location. The room was a little small for 4, but it was fine, and the room and the service were very good.
They also have a playground room and swimming pool that our kids liked.

Great place, easy to check in, beautiful room and view.
BUT we couldn't get a pizza delivered at 3 AM in Toronto.

Our room was clean, very small which wasn't terrible as well as the bathroom. Loved having a balcony. The problem was the bed was ridiculously soft, I did not sleep a wink despite being exhausted from our day and my husband only slept a little and not well. I was also not happy to find that there is no fridge in the room, I have stayed at cheaper hotels that have them. This was actually the first time ever having no fridge in a hotel room. Not impressed.

The only real flaw in this wonThe derful place is its on-site parking! We were afraid our car might not be able to get around some of the tight corners or even fit through the entrance ramp. It might be a good idea to warn patrons that purchase a parking spot that it it UNDER THE BUILDING and has hight restrictions!
