Chine Legendary Hot Pot & Noodles

Came to Chine to have a great dinner but unfortunately felt unimpressed by their approach to hotpot. Most of my complaints are directed to the quality of the food being critically sub par for the price. The squid was unpleasant and had an extremely pungent smell, indicating it was far from being fresh. The fried popcorn chicken had some pieces with 90% batter. The broth isn’t anything outstanding compared to other places I have been to.

As for service, all was decent until the end. We ordered our desserts which took around 20 minutes to come out (the restaurant was not busy during this time). We had to ask our servers if they were still working on them, however, the server needed to ask us for our order again after waiting for an unnecessary amount of time.

As someone who has hotpot very often, for an establishment charging nearly $50 per person, I was greatly disappointed and can say that there are better options elsewhere.

Went for Christmas dinner with the family and made reservations. I came early and there was no wait for our table. We were seated immediately. Service was quick and efficient. Thanks for the servers who brought us the food we ordered (which was a lot of food).

The great thing about this restaurant is that you get your own hot pot and get to choose your own broth.

Interesting place with good food and service. The space is tight and there are no adequate provision for jacket stands.

Had the “all you can eat” and worth the money! The spicy soup was the best!

This is a perfect hot pot restaurant for a family party. Personally I would recommend the tomato broth. The quality of food is good especially the lamb and beef slice. The crispy taro roll and sweet sticky rice cake are my favorite desserts. Servers are friendly and careful. Their washroom is so clean. We’ll definitely come back with more friends.

My favorite AYCE hot pot restaurant in downtown. I’ve been here many times. The special beef slice is very tasty. Service is always fast.

Nice people, mandatory 15% tip, no help with new experience customers and no visa accepted. Brought clients for dinner and they had to pay debit with me paying them back because they only accepted cash or debit. Unreal considering the cost of a meal like this.

Atmosphere is awesome. Servers are very friendly and helpful. They instructed me to mix my dipping sauce. Tomato broth is very tasty. I’ll definitely come back!

I was really excited to eat here, but it was really disappointing. We got the seafood hot pot and the spicy combo. The seafood was literally one piece of each and the sides of meat was just two of each. My squid tentacles ended up being a piece of squid with the gladius and an eye still intact and it smelt really bad. The spicy combo we got tasted like they just dumped all the worlds salt in it to the point where it made us feel sick. The staff barely said like 5 words to us the whole time, they’ve increased their prices and they have 15% tip automatically in the bill. Totally not worth it.

Came here on a Saturday night and it was packed! I would recommend making a reservation at least a few hours in advanced so you would not have to wait 1 hour (completely our fault but its located in Chinatown so we just walked around and went into random shops to pass time which was fun to explore).

It was a nice, simple atmosphere. Service was very friendly and efficient. The food was served quickly and it was delicious! One of us got the Legendary Spicy Broth Mild and as someone who can handle their spice, mild might be the perfect level for you to enjoy the spicyness without suffering from the heat (unless thats how you like it!). There were plenty of food options, and even fried snacks like popcorn chicken which my table really enjoyed!

Its AYCE and theres a 5% discount if you pay cash so all-in-all, I would say it was really worth it! As others mentioned, they already included a service charge but did not mention it to us so just make sure to read your bill carefully.

My experience in this restaurant is perfect, not only because of their food but also because of their service. Their food looks very fresh. I ate spinach, which is very fresh. I like their tomato broth and Tom Yum broth very much. If you like tomatoes or Tom Yum, I strongly suggest you try. But I don't like their meatballs, because they are frozen. I don't like to eat food that I can't see the raw materials. I like their beef slices and lamp slices, shrimp and noodles very much. I suggest you try them. And their services was great! This is my first time here, waiter patiently teaches me how to order. When there is no soup in your broth, they will ask if you need more soup to cook your food. The price is not very expensive, I think at least, 30 Canadian dollars, there’re 15% mandatory tips, but I give them more, the service is just great. There is seafood, I think it is very suitable for people who like seafood, because they have mussel, shrimp and squid, you can eat as much as you want!

Hot pot place in the middle of downtown Chinatown. Decent selection of ingredients to order for hot pot and decent quality with the exception of the sliced meats that come with as much fat as they do meat.

Service while nice is a bit slower.

Great place to enjoy preparing your way your meat, fish, veggie choices for an all you can eat experience.

Great food selection, all you can eat, and cheap soy milk pitchers. I only wish they had a better spread for making sauces and the inclusion of alcoholic beverages on their menu.

This restaurant was my goto place and I loved the food and service. Now they rise their prices, tables get dirty, flies around me all the time, food not fresh and smell awful. Not worth it, they force a 15% tip, which is not ok at all. Please avoid all the costs

The food was good but expensive, and the service is terrible, got wrong food multiple times and had to remind them of our order.had to wait ages to receive food and they never come to your table

Not the best service at all. Went for dinner on a hot day, found the restaurant to be more warm than outside. Asked the waitress to turn up the A/C or at least provide a fan but she declined. Had to step outside a few times to cool off because my smartwatch notified me twice that my heart rate was unusually high. They also started brooming the floor after 9: 30 (even though they close at 11), regardless of the fact that the restaurant was full of diners, which I found very unsanitary.

Everyone gets their own hotpot! One of the better All You Can Eat hotpot spots downtown. Would highly recommend for small and big groups.

Friendly staff and good quality sauce bar!

The food is not fresh, including the meat. There’s not a lot of options either for a hot pot restaurant. Particular staff is rude and not welcoming at all. We got here for about an hour and they came over saying we had to leave because we are over the 2 hour eating time window. We were never told about the time window either. Overall not a pleasant experience, especially not for the price. Also fyi the waiter stares at you while you tip them which was a bit awkward. Could be that we were just unlucky this time. However, I would recommend going somewhere else if you could.

A server tried to talk in many ways to refuse our dine-in. She told me 9.30 is the last call while I sat down and was ordering she came to me and said last call is actually 9.20pm for today (at that moment 9.07 pm) it’s disappointed then I asked her what time are you guys closed? She said today we will close earlier because it’s not too busy. Yesss now I totally got it why is this restaurant is not busy.if you guys wanna close early just change your opening hours.

Such an amazing meal. Top quality food and service. Restaurant was very clean and organized. Not too many people for a Thursday lunch, maybe I should keep this place a secret so there is always a table available.
Only complaint was the selection of music. Just not conducive to the atmosphere. But I could barely hear it over my out-loud “YUMMMM” for every dish. Highly recommended. Sorry for the messy pic. Lol

Delicious food for a very affordable price, lots of options too, and each person gets their own mini pot.

Great place for winter season. Love the soups, multiple choice of toppings and a make-your-own sauce. Really cheap and great for a group hang-out place.

Wonderful first experience of hotpot. My best friend and I went here for a lunch catch up date. The options had assorted items: meat, seafood, vegetables and noodles. I tried the tom yum broth which was savoury and tangy. I recommend this place if you are new to trying hotpot.

Went on a Friday night and was really busy. Got seated right away and ordered lots of food. Good quality meats for AYCE and the legendary spicy broth had great flavour. Also got the tomato broth but was not that great. I like how fast they are and friendly.

I also liked how they had individual broths so everyone can get their own and cook their own meat.

If you’re looking for cheap ayce hotpot with equally cheap quality food, then this is the place for you. I had the signature spicy tomato soup base which was neither spicy nor tomatoey. The thinly sliced beef and lamb were good and the only saving grace of this review. Most of the other vegetables and meat were not good quality.

Normally, I don’t factor in service into my ratings, but service was honestly too atrocious here. It took 30 minutes with constant reminders to waiters just to get soup on the table (you have a 2 hr seating limit). Waving down a waiter was just as hard - one of the waiters walked around with airpods in to probably avoid talking to customers. Most of the time, requests made to waiters (extra chopsticks, napkins, etc) were forgotten.

Overall, I’d recommend you walk past this place and try other, much better food, available on Spadina.

EDIT- I went back last week and it was great yet again! Food came out quickly and it was so spicy and hot! Really great experience eating here for the first and second time! The first time we went, staff were very accommodating to our Halal requirements and double checked to ensure what we ordered was halal. We were therefore more experienced for the second time. Amazing hot and spicy food, and great atmosphere during cold winter days. Definitely my go to for hot pot!

Food is decent and tasty with great customer service. The biggest and silliest turn-off? They don't accept any forms of credit card. Like what an archaic way of conducting business. Unfortunately, a major turn-off. I had to resort to using some "savings funds" because of their strict debit-only payments - Honestly destroyed the entire customer experience and expectations for a wonderful restaurant.

It was my first time coming here last night with friends.the food was DELICIOUS, and i loved that everyone got their own pots.will definitely be back and i highly recommend!

I have been to this hotpot restaurant couple times and never disappointed. It is the best one in Toronto. They provide individual mini pot which is great at this time if you dine with friends. The dishes were served fast and fresh, the staffs were helpful and nice. Great service and fair price. Will definitely go again.

What a waste of time and money! Overpriced for mediocre food at best. Lets start with the Unlegandry broth which was supposed to be the star for tonight's meal, chili oil flavored salt water with a pod of garlic, a thin slice of ginger borrowed from a sushi restaurant and generous dose of crushed chillies and peppercorns. The lobster balls were horrendously yucky for lack of a better word. Wonton quality was awful, they'd immediately open up after putting it in the pot, didn't even last until the meat inside was cooked. The noodles, oh boy! Udon- way too chewy and the Ramen didn't even cook after keeping it in piping hot broth for 5+ mins. Shrimps, tenderloin beef were decent, pretty much the only edible things. And don't even get me started on the dessert. Oh my word! Disgusting. Crystalline and Grainy vanilla and chocolate icecream. Bitter and dripping with oil fried tarro and dough. Saving grace was the condensed milk dip. Which was fortunately not made in house. Don't recommend this place.

Came here with my friend after reopen. The food was amazing, everything was so fresh and delicious. The service was also great, very friendly and helpful staff.
It’s about same price as any other AYCE hot pot restaurant but this one checked all my boxes. Definitely coming back!

Me and my friends often go to this place before covid. Love the customer service, great food, love the desserts especially the taro bread roll. I highly recommend that dessert lol I might comeback for that only.

This is only hot pot place I visit more than 10 times. Flavor is great and choices of food are many. Only downside is sometime food isn't fresh.

A fantastic all you can eat location in downtown Toronto (and honestly, might be better than 刘一手). They are roughly the same price (came out to $45 including tax and tip on a Saturday night), and every person gets their personalized mini pot. There are so many hot pot ingredients to choose from and they all came out extremely fast.

However, a lot of food that we had ordered did not come out; but, they were so quick to address all our concerns and solve them as soon as possible.

That is worthy of a 5-star review and a very generous tip. Aside from the food not coming out, fantastic service and really tasty food! A must try AYCE hot pot place if you got the money.

I quite enjoyed my time here as there were many benefits. Phenomenal service. Friendly greetings. Amazing atmosphere. Clean restaurant/washroom. Fast service even when congested with patrons. Good prices. Accommodations can be made such as a custom sauce or preferential seating. Just amazing.

I did not have the best hot pot experience at Chine. I had made a reservation to Chine using their online booking tool, for 2. When my partner and I showed up for our reservation, they brought us to our table which was a large circular dining table meant to seat 10 people. We were then told that we would be sharing the table with other pairs that showed up. Ive never booked a reservation at a restaurant and been told I'd share the table with other people. This is an ODD practice.

Similar to other reviewers here, they forgot to bring food items that were checked off on our order sheet.

For my soup base, I had ordered the mushroom flavor, and found that the black colored broth made it difficult to find food in my pot - especially since the restaurant does not provide mini strainers (only chopsticks).

It's also hard to get the attention of wait staff because they walk fast and stare at the floor as they walk.

On the positive side, they did have a long list of food items to choose from. I didn't try everything on the menu, but I do wish that the shrimp did not come with the head and shell still on.

I personally would not go back to Chine.

I LOVE this place. Everything is so fresh, the broth is perfect no matter which flavour, even the desserts are perfect! I've eaten at a lot of restaurants and this is the only one that would cause me emotional distress if it closed. I've been waiting for it to re-open every day of lockdown.

Really friendly staff (from my first encounter so far), honest in menu advices, which I value, and very simple, so far, I like.

So happy to see Chine Legendary still thriving through the pandemic! Love this place for the individual pots and quality ingredients ️ all the servers are very nice and helpful

It's high time I give a good review. I have been to this place many times. I never had a bad experience. It's my go to place for AYCE hot pot. My friends love that place as well.

Tons of options, delicious food, attentive wait staff. This is my favourite hot pot place in the city for a reason! Personal favourite broths are the legendary spicy broth & black chicken broth. I also love that it’s all you can eat.

Excellent and flavorful food, I love the mood this place has, and the staff members were very friendly. Will definitely visit here next time.
