Food was great. Great portions definitely worth the price. Only issue was when making the order I asked for sauce on the fried chicken I got and the girl taling the order said no lol. I asked again and she was like no.lol I'm west indian myself so I was like whatever. Just weird interaction.
Its my first time in a long time since I had their beef oxtail and curried goat so I ordered it by uber eats. My impressions is the oxtail had lots of bones and less meat but the sauce was on point and the rice was slightly saltier than usual. The goat was tasty and the meat was substantial. I would come back again whenever I want to grab some Carribean food.
Terrible service… Drove down from Bowmanville to try this place after seeing it on social media only for them to close the door and offer no explanation while other customers were inside… why couldn’t I be served? it definitely wasn’t closing time as it was 8PM and on the door it states 9PM for everyday of the week their open.
Very unprofessional, wish they could redeem themselves but I wouldn’t give my business to a service so uninterested in their customer.
I happen to be driving by this plaza and we saw this sign saying Caribbean Bistro and boy oh boy am I SO HAPPY I stumbled upon this gem. It is located in the East end of the city and I live in Brampton however I would definitely recommend anyone to make the drive. The staff was wonderful and the food was AMAZING! I had the jerk chicken Shawarma, Jerk Chicken poutine, some plantain and we bought a bottle of their special pepper sauce! Everything was full of flavour and NICE portion sizes.
Went here for the second and last time today. The presentation was pleasing, the portions large, the service was quick but I don't call this jerk chicken. I would call this bougie jerk chicken. The skin is soggy not crispy and Im not used to basmati for rice and peas. Also found a light brown hair in my food and my hair is dark black. Employees weren't very friendly either.
First of all I’d like to say this is the best Jamaican takeout restaurant in Canada. The food is absolutely delicious. I love the fact that they use basmati rice because God know all these other Caribbean restaurants be nasty and soggy just not appetizing. But this right here is FIREEE.
This place is giving me good vibes (that’s how you know the food finna be BOMB) but the customer service is spectacular. I’m usually skepticism about all these Caribbean restaurants because the people be so rude and just makes people scared to ask for what they really want even though they’re paying for it. But I was surprised to see how nice and great the girl at the front desk dealt with me. I was scared that I was holding up the line (the place is quiet busy and I’m happy for them lol) she’s like don’t worry take your time and explained everything to me since it was my first time coming there. I really wanted the jerk chicken shawarma but they ran out (apparently they run out of it by afternoon since it’s their top selling food) but what I got I’m very satisfied with. Price is ok a bit pricy but it’s worth it.
Keep it up to all the staff. I’m very happy and proud to see black people be so professional and succeeding. Definitely coming back here and makes me more happy that it’s 4 minutes away from my house.
My new go to is the jerk salmon here.on point. I like that they use basmati rice for their rice&peas, always beautiful presentation and fresh. There's a reason it's always busy
Just discovered Chris Jerk and WOW probably the best Jerk Chicken in Toronto! Nails the flavouring, perfect spiciness, and that rice is some of the best rice I've had. And the portion is AMAZING for 12 bucks + tax. Amazing heavy box of delicious delicious food!
Presentation 4.5 star, service 2 star, and taste 3.5 stars.
This place was very busy and the wait time was way too long for the food to just taste okay. I waited 40mins for jerk chicken with oxtail gravy and fried chicken. The rice and peas, I'm sorry, does not taste good, and the oxtail gravy was bland but salty. The jerk chicken was tender and the fried chicken was good. All in all it was an okay meal, but I probably won't be a repeat customer.
Delicious and super popular place. Come early if you want their jerk shawarma - we went at 6: 30 on a Saturday and it was already sold out. Despite that, the rest of their food is still really good. Portions are big and the prices rather cheap for what you get. It's a takeout place only but they are popular so you will have to wait a while for your food. Very worth it however
Chris Jerk is the best Jamaican spot in the city, for sure! We've ordered from here several times, and it's been consistently delicious. My go-to's are the classic jerk chicken dinner, ox-tail dinner, and the jerk chicken wings. If you have a craving for jerk, check them out, and you won't be disappointed.
Food was so good. Busy store, customers are lined up most of the time. I ordered jerk shawarma and wrap shawarma, those were so delicious. Though it is a busy store but I did not have to wait for long, they have sufficient staffs.
I just waited one hour for food at this restaurant. They refuse to open up their phones to take orders on the line if they did that it would cut down the number of people coming in the door and the flow would work much better. Waiting an hour for food Is unacceptable.
Great place to grab some carribean food such as jerk chicken and fried chicken. Portions are really hearty, always wanted to try their jerk pouting but you need to go during the day as they usually don't have it in the evenings. Lots of parking, but sometimes can be line ups.
Ackee and saltfish is my favourite Jamaican dish and the version here is one of the best I’ve tried in the GTA! Get it with rice n peas with gravy on the rice - a must.
Absolutely awesome. Looked up the best jerk in Toronto and after about 20 minutes of research I found that this place had to be one of the best. As soon as I got there I noticed a line of about 20 ppl which is always a good sign. After getting in and asking the staff what I should get, they gave me great recommendations and were super nice and helpful. I ordered the jerk chicken poutine, a side of oxtail and a jerk chicken combo that came with rice, beans, veggies and fried plantain. I LOVED it! There was no dining inside so we ate in the parking lot, the drink selection there was good, good parking and easily accessible for anyone in a wheelchair. I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to go back.
Food was way too salty compared to other Caribbean restaurants maybe it’s because they put excessive gravy on the rice. Taste good but ordinary, stewed meat not fresh, but vegetables was very fresh. Price was OK.
Great Caribbean spot with some unique dishes. Pretty impressed overall and I would recommend to try as I would return again myself. Fan Favourites, Jerk Chicken Dinner, Fried Chicken and the Shawarma Jerk Chicken Poutine
Today was my one year work anniversary and my company told me to order lunch and expense it. Anything I wanted within reason. My immediate thought was Chris Jerk's Curry Goat with Rice and Peas with extra gravy and let me tell you that it was the best decision I made today. The goat was just perfectly spiced and fall of the bone tender, the basmati rice and peas are so good that you can eat it all by itself, along with the steamed veggies and plantain just makes this a dish worth high praise. If you are ever wondering what to do for lunch, do yourself a big favor and try Chris Jerk. You will not be disappointed. The portions are huge and for a guy my size (slender side) it is always good for two meals.
We have been coming to Chris Jerk for about two years now and I have never been disappointed. The food is amazing and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Love this place! Best jerk shawarma ever There jerk chicken Breast meal is also one of my favs. Never liked plantain until this place and there on Uber sooo it’s a bonus
Had always seen line ups and finally bit the bullet and tried their jerk chicken and curry goat. Was pleasantly surprised! The presentation and quantity and taste of food was good. Now I understand why people line up! Can't wait to try their jerk shwarma poutine which you have to go early for!
Ordered through Uber eats. Unfortunately found hair in my food. The plantain was oily and soggy. It’s not my first time eating from here, in the past it was good. Not sure if they changed the cooks, but the food/quality is NOT the same.
This place was an absolute hit! It was super busy but the service was so fast and the food was fresh and fantastic! There was so much flavour and the perfect amount of spice. I ordered the jerk chicken shawarma salad and it wasn’t just a salad with chicken, it had plantains and cole slaw. It was absolutely delicious! Definitely going to hit this place up again!
Food tastes great, love the sides with the entree meals. Get their house made hot sauce. Doesn't taste like typical Jerk chicken, but still good. The vegetarian entree is also really good and filling. I wish they made festivals during the week. The wait is ridiculous at times. I once waited over an hour for my food, and they didn't bother giving me a heads up when i ordered. They just kept telling me it's coming. It's almost always a long wait but they need to do better at giving customers estimates. You can't call ahead either, even to find out if it's busy.
Food was good. Only bad experience was leaving my cellphone # in order to pickup the order when it is ready. (This is the only place I done this.) The next day, I kept on getting phone calls from different phone numbers. Maybe their system had been hacked? Now I have to change my phone number.
Pros: Great tasting food and generous portions. Unique flavours. Local business.
Cons: It gets busy very quickly and lineups form often. It can take awhile to get food. If the day has been busy chicken can and will run out by mid-late afternoon.
Beautifully presented food, great portion size! It takes quite a while but it’s because the food is well made. It is a bit sweeter than I like my oxtail to be but everyone has a different flavour profile. Will try the famous jerk next time!
I had visit Chris Jerk about four years ago and was impressed then and I am still impressed. I had Snapper with rice and peas my hubby had oxtail no shortage on the oxtail dinner. Food is excellent and the presentation. I would recommend
Went for the famous jerk chicken shawarma and poutine. Shawarma was fantastic, incredibly tasty, but the poutine was fairly salty. Would definitely visit again. And again.
Good jerk but could have more spice to it. Portions are great and the beans and rice are good. I think you can ask for hot sauce on the side so I'll go again and reevaluate.
They don't accept orders on the phone. Waiting time is 30 minutes. So many workers! The food is tasteless (no thyme, hot pepper etc) and overpriced. The rice is not Jamaican type. The portions are ok. The staff is friendly.
Great jerk chicken platter. Best one I’ve had so far in the area.
Been there recently and their ordering system has improved during the pandemic! So when you place your order, they’ll request your number to text you when food is ready. Much better than waiting inside. During peak hours, expect to wait for a while for tasty food! Approx 10-20mins.
Waited 55m for food.still waiting.if it's good I'll be changing the rating.to 2 star.they were rude when we asked what's up after 30m and someone after us got there food before us.
Waited more than an hour to get a meal. The line up was quick and they said it would take 40 minutes. Went to the door after one hour and they said we still had to wait for a call. Not impressed. Food was ok. Not worth the hype.
Didn’t believe anyone would serve food outside as fresh as home cooked ones until I ordered from this place. The chicken, rice, sauce, those banana chips, just wow.straight out of oven, melting in the mouth. I mean I am pregnant and I cannot thank enough to the chef who served such fresh and delicious food. Great people!
Known for their signature jerk chicken shawarma poutine which has never dissappointed time and time again. Makes you want to go back for more awesomeness. Make sure you have time on your hands because there is always a line up.
Its the real deal. I've tried most of the carribean restaurants in scarborough and Durham, its in the top 3, if not #1, in my opinion. Definitely worth trying.
Food is awesome. It is well worth dealing with the line-ups and the always busy phone. Good thing that the staff are efficient in addition to being friendly. No place to sit, so you often see people eating tailgate style The jerk sauce is wet, not dry, and is wonderfully flavoursome without being spicy hot. Heat comes through scotch bonnet sauce that you add (or not) separately. My favourite side is the plantain, but the veggies and pigeon peas & rice are both tasty. Both the chicken and pork versions are moist and perfectly cooked. As a bonus the dishes reheat really well in the microwave. A Scarborough favourite enjoyed by many.
Food was amazing, loved all their dishes. Boneless curry chicken was very tasty, curry goat was delicious and the oxtail was phenomenal! Will be back to try the rest of their menu 100%!
Food is addictive and delicious; but they are super busy all the time. Call ahead, and be prepared to wait at least half a hour for your order to be fulfilled.
Had the jerk chicken with rice and peas and it was great. The meal also comes with a side of veggies and even fried plantain which is usually extra at other places. Will definitely drop by whenever I can!
Food was amazing. It better than alot of the Jamaica food that I have eaten lately! I had the brest and it was so delicious just needed I bit more flavour.
I always order the Jerk Chicken. The chicken is nicely seasoned, the sauce is very tasty and the vegetables were cooked just right! I always go back to Chris' Jerk. The food is delicious!
Always a pleasure eating here. Love the food, the service and most importantly the quality food. Thanks to all the hardworking staff for being the best Jamaican take out in Toronto.
Food is always amazing here, love all the dishes but the jerk chicken wrap and poutine are just fantastic! Also love to get the fried plantains on the side:)
All of the food here is consistently delicious. I always wind up buying a variety of dishes so I can enjoy the leftovers. You can't go wrong with the chicken but they also have incredible curries and melt-in-your-mouth oxtail. The lineups can be long. I encourage you to go early so you can get the jerk chicken shawarma.
Always out of jerk chicken shawarma I've tried to go 3 separate times each time same excuse if you know you sell out prepare more so you don't it's your main dish of attraction and you never have enough prepared. Sorta ridiculous not going to be wasting my time to go again.
The food and the atmosphere here is amazing! The day we went to try this place out was one of those very hot days, but that wait in the heat was so worth it. The food is bursting with flavours. The staff members are so friendly, and everything we tried was amazing!
This place is the place to go to for jerk. It's really flavourful, but no not overly spicy. The meat is incredibly tender, fried plantains are sweet and delicious, the rice is aromatic and a perfect medium to soak up the sauce from the meat. Potions are big here too! You won't be disappointed. Be prepared for a wait (about 10-15 min) for take out but it's well worth it. Limited seating so better to do take out. And if you go at the end of the night they often run out of something but they'll recommend swaps.
Best Caribbean food place in all of Toronto hands down. There food is to die for. Lines are long but so worth the wait. My favorite is the jerk shawarma poutine. You wont have a better poutine in your life. Good job guys.
I like the jerk chicken here, not too sour unlike some other places. The fried plaintains are very yummy. Not a big fan of the rice that comes with the platter though, I find them pretty bland. I wish they have spicier seasoning since I like spicy food.
Pleasant staff for sure. Warm and welcoming. And delicious food! Went with 5 people and shared some dishes which were all enjoyed. Only forewarning is that seating is for sure limited. Tables of 2 when I went. Looking for Jamaican comfort food, this comes highly recommended.
That Plantain fry was so amazing with the food I ordered a spicy jerk chicken But it was not spicy as I expected Extreme spice in this place is not spicy as well
Not your typical Jerk for sure. More a fushion-style Jerk sauce and rice&peas but still so delicious. Their Jerk shawarma is amazing and so is the Kingfish dinner. Definitely one of my go-to spots.
This is THE place for jerk chicken. The food has always been consistent with great quality as I go here every weekend; staff are friendly and hardworking in the kitchen. Thumps up
Food is solid and selection is good. Big line ups and the wait time can be a little long even when line ups are short. Parking can sometimes be difficult to find but all in all, it's worth a shot.
