Churrasco of Portugal

My first impression wasn’t what I was hoping for, absolutely love Portuguese food but this was a miss for me. The potatoes & rice lacked flavour and the chicken was hard and really dry almost like jerky.

Excellent food and service particularly from the Ethiopian waitress. Very friendly who makes you want to come back

Get the positive out of the way…The piri piri sauce was absolutely DELICIOUS!

However, when we ordered a chicken and a half, they asked “sauce on top, ok? ” To which we said “no, on the side please”. The main person in our group we were ordering this food for CANNOT have any spiciness whatsoever.

Picked up our order and drove the 25 mins home, chicken was completely drenched in the sauce. They couldn’t eat what we ordered that night…such a waste.

Also, not sure if they use mini chickens, but they hack up all the meat into small chunks and there seemed to be almost no white meat.

Potatoes were good, rice was super bland.

Was a pretty disappointing first visit and doubtful that we’ll go back.

So glad to have come across authentic Portuguese cuisine that is delicious, affordable with prompt and efficient service. I placed a catering order for my son's birthday party and couldn't be more happy. Staff was friendly, knowledgable and very organized in placing my order and setting it up for delivery. The food was delicious, great presentation and portioning. Highly recommend this to anyone looking to order Portuguese food.

After a hike some friends and myself dropped by here. Between us all we ordered the chicken dinner, the cod fish and the chicken cutlets. Everyone really enjoyed the food. Chicken is amazing and authentic. Fish was great as well.
Having been to Portugal, one thing we loved was all of the good food. Portuguese know how to eat.

The best portuguese food in Ajax! Every time I come back to town I have to go there and get the chicken and delicious potatoes! The staff is very friendly and prices are great too!

I come here often to get their whole chicken! It's either BBQ or roasted, but both hit the spot. I especially like the spicy version since that is really good. I look forward to coming back here for more!

Whenever I have a cravings for delicious food, this restaurant comes to mind. I appreciate how fresh and delicious the dishes are prepared. The chicken is tender, juice, and bursts with flavor. The little round potatoes are addictive. I always find satisfaction here. Strongly recommended.

Worst service ever. We arrived at 7: 15, and they said out loud that they will close soon and that if we wanted to sit down we could only eat what was left on the counter because they have closed the kitchen and were cleaning up. Really? On their web page says they close at 8, but at 7: 15pm they had already closed the kitchen and cleaning up and on top of that treated us as we were doing something wrong because we dare to come for dinner? Never again!

We went yesterday for Dinner.
I ordered Grilled Sardines with vegetables. My wife ordered the Churrasco chicken with a salad.
All of it was delicious, normally we go to Dupont to eat portuguese food. But this place is equally good or better.

A real authentic Portuguese cuisine & chicken joint, excellent Churrasco chicken dinner comes with rice & potatoes, very large servings. Busy place for take-outs.

We ordered ribs and half a chicken, the meat was really well prepared, each came in unique sauce. The potatoes and rice were pretty plain, not enough flavour, so keep in mind to dip them in sauce or ask for salt/pepper. They serve very delicious bread with butter and olives if you choose to dine in. Try their spicy oil - it's really spicy.

We didn’t get the quality we are used to. Looks like you gave us a day old chicken that tasted like shoe leather.

We were looking to try Portuguese food for the first time for our anniversary, so came across this local place. So we went to give it a try.upon entering, it was clear it was more of a take out place, the take out front counter and food and warmers right out front. Understandably due to covid for the focus on take out. Dining room nothing special. Utensils like from the dollar store and paper placemats.as we got the menus we asked about Paella which was showing on their menu online.they said they did not have it that day. My girlfriend wanted that, so we discussed if we wanted to stay or go somewhere else. We decided to stay and try other foods.
We ordered flaming sausage app and then she ordered the chicken and i ordered the back ribs. App was ok sausage was a bit burned, black but was ok. There was a long time gap before they brought us the entrees. There was only one other table in the restaurant.i had thought maybe they were making fresh vs just scooping from the warmers in the take out section.i was wrong.once we finally received the entrees they were not hot at all, barely warm.my ribs with veggies and side greek salad, very dissappointing. Ribs were flavourful but warm at best and on the tough side, clearly taken from take out warmer. Veggies were terrible, cold and way over boiled, soft and limp and no flavour.i tried to put some butter on it and the butter would not melt as veggies were cold. Greek side salad was only pleasant surprise as it came in a bowl and was much larger than a side. 2 out of 5 for my meal. My GF's chicken was much better, good portions of chicken and flavourful. She had rice and side potatoes which were good.she said it rated 4.5 out of 5 for hers.
For dessert we decided to try a few since they were only $5 each.choc mousse and nala i think it was called.they came in small take out style plastic containers. Mousse was very sweet and nala was ok. We both agreed not so great.

So overall disappointing experience. My gf said she would get the chicken again but only on take out. I would not go back again. Prices are reasonable, though.

I wish they had a location in Oshawa so I wouldn’t have to drive all the way to Ajax when my family craves this place especially with gas prices now This place is always busy on the weekends for good reason. My family loves their BBQ chicken with peri peri sauce. I am a big fan of their fish and potatoes. We always do take out and it’s fast service if you order ahead. I appreciate their hours of op. Abrigada!

This place is a bit like nandos at Kennedy Commons and a bit like brassas in Mississauga. It's not as great as both. Wish they gave more sauce but overall the portions are huge, the food is still really good and the prices are very fair. Wish the hot sauce was spicier but that's just my opinion.

The amazing aroma of their food fills up the room! Cravings for good chicken bbq with peri-peri sauce satisfied! They have a variety and lots of options of which one you’d like to get and try. Salad was fresh and light perfect with the big pieces chicken!

The chicken is good but BAD customer service. I ordered chicken for take out but changed my mind and decided to eat there. When i was paying, the guy and lady told me told me that i ordered for take out. I ask the cashier if i can eat it there and he said he doesn’t know. (Dude your working there!) As i received my order, the staffs are glaring at us because i insisted on dining there. I was not able to enjoy my meal because of that. If you are in restaurant business like that, you should care for your customers need and should be able to accomodate for a slightly change. It is not even busy, and there are so much tables available. I am very disappointed.

This was only the second time we've been there lately. The food is always great except last Friday they had no rice left, but we got everything else we wanted!

I drove an hour to this place to try it and was very disappointed in the service. I showed up at 520 when it closed at 6. As soon as I walked in I got rude looks from the employees. When I asked for the fish, the girl working rudely said “WE CANT MAKE IT WE CLOSE SOON”. So she told me only thing I could order was the food that was sitting in the front already cooked. There was small dried pieces of salmon that looked like they had been sitting there for awhile.
You close at 6? Doesn’t that mean that food is available until that time? Maybe post that kitchen and new orders are closed at 520 instead of being upset when someone tries to order.

The food here is Delish! I can’t wait to go back and try the sandwiches they look huge. The proportions for price are great. I think the food is similar to nandos but SIGNIFICANTLY better.

Tasty churrasco chicken, potatoes and rice but it was all pretty cold by the time I got it home. They have it ready when you take out so service is quick but it didn't taste as fresh or as hot as I would have liked.

I didn’t understand the hype about this place. First time trying it and was underwhelmed. The potatoes were stale, dry and oily. Potatoes should be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and these definitely didn’t taste like that, I couldn’t even mash it for my son to eat.

The chicken was ok - don’t see how it’s better than a rotisserie chicken from Costco. The skin was soggy and it was browned off everywhere, some skin was white.

Overpriced for what they offer.

When I'm in the area I will only eat here best most tasting chicken rice and potatoes highly recommended

Favourite stop when driving past Ajax. We go out of our way each time to get their delicious food!

We ordered several items for a family dinner, and it was fantastic. BBQ chicken, ribs, chorizo, rice, potatoes, and salad. So much more food than we expected and everything was cooked so well. Even grandma complimented the chicken! Definitely order from here!

The young boy at the counter is extremely rude and judging by the treatment I've witnessed of other fairer skinned patrons, I'm getting major racist vibes. The chicken sucks anyway.

This place is a bit on the pricey side but absolutely worth it. Great food and even better customer service.

Awesome authentic home style cooked real Portuguese food, right now open for pick up or delivery only, Hope to see this place open again soon, as I will return.

I tried their bacalhau for the first time and I wasted $60. I made the mistake of buying 3 bacalhau dinner meals for my family and me.
It was unedible! The fish was sooooo salty you couldn't eat it. I asked my Portugese friends and they all said this is not how bacalhau should be. It seems they failed to soak the fish properly to get rid of all of the overwhelming salt in the fish. Never again will I waste my money for bacalhau at this place.

They serve big portions and for affordable prices.very welcoming employees. Keep up the good work.

Good piri piri chicken, had both the barbecue and rotisserie, bought extra piri piri sauce it was good but just a little too oily

Tried this spot already with a friend and I am addicted ever since. I loved the awesome vibes and flavorful dishes and drinks. They never disappoint.

They are always professional even on their busiest day. On the phone and at the restaurant. Theyre are so welcoming. Especially the young that's always at the cashier. And their BBQ chicken is the best in durham so far that I have tatsed.

The food is good, however the staff members are rude and not polite to customers. They probably feel that it's acceptable to be rude if the food is good and that people will still come and buy.

Great food and price for the big portions that you get. Ive been there quite a few times. Definitely enjoy thier food. Staff isn't always pleasant. They act like they're doing me a favor (takeout). Add a dollar to each item if you're Dining in.

Excellent and I also can make great bbq chicken. Great taste large portions and a fair price. They also have pick up off the entire menu.very popular with the local Portuguese community so that is always a good first impression.

4 stars as I love their food. Their piri piri sauce is the best (I could drink that stuff)! Staff are not as friendly though. You get nothing even if you try to engage in friendly banter. I just go and order my food and be on my way.

Amazing Portuguese chicken with options of fish as well. Huge portions for the price. John was our waiter and he is steady and on the ball. Make reservations if you can. Place can get full quickly. Holds about 36 seat in. Take out is quick and easy.

Amazing food and hospitality. Portions were good and Thomas was accomodating. We went close to closing time and the staff and food were still really amazing. Would definitely recommend this place

Being a Portuguese food lover, this was just below average for me. Their meat is pre cooked and saved in a warmer. Nothing special about it. Pollo Locco from Vaughan is WAY better

Great food and service, however they cannot keep up with demand and there can be long wait times. There is space to seat small groups for dine in.

The restaurant was clean and the ambiance reminded me of a restaurant in Portugal.
The staff was friendly and were prompt at meeting our needs.
The restaurant is small so make sure you call ahead for big groups and it is kid friendly.
I did find the food to be bland & salty, it needs to be seasoned more with spices.
All in all, we had a great time with all our family.

Love their chicken! I’d suggest if they can cut the lettuce up in smaller pieces for the salad because it’s always big pieces.

Went there today for a date with hubby. We both got the chicken breast dinner. Good size portions and very tasty! Have their hot sauce with it. Sooo good. I had a can of Sumol passion fruit pop to go with it. Can't wait to go there again! Highly recommend. Dont waste your time and money at Nando's.

We stopped by for a quick dinner and were not disappointed. Good Portuguese food, very reasonable prices, good service. They have take out as well and it's busy. We ordered the chicken dinner, it was nicely done. Potatoes could have had a little less oil used but otherwise good.

I love their chicken. You won't be disappointed if you order the chicken. The rice and potatoes were pretty good, too.

Wonderful Portuguese food. We had the half bbq chicken and the bitoque (strip loom with egg on top). Decent price, has a great takeout and a little area with Portuguese products (canned good etc.) perfectly Cooke chicken and meat. I didn’t get a chance to take a pic lol. The best is there home made bbq chicken sauce. It was amazing on everything especially the fries

Terrible service. Walked in this place three times because it is the only Portuguese chicken place around. I walked out each time because the service is that bad. If your product is food and you don't want to serve it, not sure why you have a restaurant.

We've eaten here a few times and everytime the service seems to get worse and worse. This time my husband went in to pick up some food to go. Not a single person acknowledged him. He stood behind the counter for 5 minutes as a women continued to cook food. One gentlemen was stocking the front refrigerator and another man proceeded to eat his lunch behind the counter near the register.

Again, not one of them stopped to help or take his order. My husband left empty handed. Not sure why a restaurant would have staff/owners decide to conduct business in this way (?) Needless to say, we won't be returning.

Delicious food, fair prices, good caring service. Take out is nice and quick but just as enjoyable to sit there for a meal. This place is definitely joining the regular rotation for Sunday family lunches!

The girl that was at the cashier is very rude. I went twice and she was with the same face and not treating costumers nice.

Came here for the first time last week, the chicken is ridiculously amazing. Better than N's for sure. Can't wait to go back.

I go here for lunch all the time. Its a nice family owned business, with fresh food, great prices and friendly service. I recommend the half chicken dinner with extra sauce and a greek salad on the side! Can't go wrong!
