Cibo Wine Bar Yonge St

Ashley made myself and my friends look so low and embarrassed, spent over 100$ per person on our friends 27th Birthday and with her power of authority, she decides to not problem solve the situation. I do not recommend this location….

I came to Cibo to celebrate my birthday and was impressed by the exceptional service. Our server was fantastic, and the food exceeded my expectations (especially the tiramisu!). Kudos to the whole team for swiftly handling an incident involving another patron causing a disruption, using foul language and making verbal threats towards myself and my party. I applaud their de-escalation skills in attempts to mitigate the situation, it was commendable. Despite the incident, I refused to let it overshadow a great evening.

Terribly long wait times for seemingly no reason. Heavily understaffed and slow service. Brunch not a good option.

Great experience with a large group (30+ people), really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was superb.

I had some meatballs here a year ago and they’re still on my mind. If I lived in the city this place would definitely be seeing more of me.

Been here twice and for some reason the food just wasn’t that good both times. Good drink menu tho

My friend made reservations here for my birthday. It was truly disappointing.

Customer Service: 1/5 - We didn’t see our waiter for a while. No hi, hello, nothing. Our waiter just poured us water and took our order. We felt super uncomfortable.

Food:
1. Lobster Ravioli - 2/5: Presentation was okay.t had such a nasty fishy smell when you bite into it. I felt sea sick.

2. Fettuccine w/ Shrimp - 2/5: Very boring dish. I’d rather eat pasta at Scaddabush. No flavour. Pasta was cooked to my liking.

3. Mozzarella - 3/5: Mozzarella tasted great. It came with three slices & three slices of tomato. Not worth the price. It was lacking another component.

Ambience: 3/5 - Initially it was nice, but after sitting and waiting around, we weren’t the only tables not being served. This gave us such bad vibes. Bathroom had a funky smell.

I would not recommend.

Bad experience. Bad service, bad food (had to send one of the dishes back). Slow, impersonal. Waited more than 20 minutes for them to take away the empty dishes. Compulsory 20% tipo for a party of 8, totally not deserved. Will not come back.

Came here a couple times on dates and with friends, everytime i got Julian who is a great server and bartender. Very friendly, funny and courteous. Food was what I expected for the price, but the drinks were bomb. Will return for sure!

Went there for a event, held in the lower level. Everyone including me had a great time! Serove was great, staff were friendly, food was awesome and we had a great night!

Really nice food, good service and the price is not too expensive. I will come back. Maybe to have more options for the red wine could be much better.

Great food although I wouldn't recommend the tiramisu. The place looks nice although some of the booths/chairs could use some maintenance.

Cool fun environment with great service and friendly staff. It's a loud environment that seems young and fun with a crowd that looked like working professionals.

I'm planning on going there again with friends and it was a cool date spot. Not so great if you want quiet casual convo.

Overall I recommend checking it out.

Went to this place yesterday and it was extremely disappointing.

We ordered the bruschetta and the menu said it would have cheese with basalmic, and all we got was tomatoes with no flavour.

I asked what they did for peoples birthday (as it was my moms birthday) and they said we have to buy dessert and they just add a candle - another letdown.

We ordered the lobster ravioli (which costs $24) and you get only 5 raviolis and the dish was extremely salty, and didn’t even come with crostini.

We told our server we were very disappointed with our meal, considering we paid $250 for overpriced food and drinks, and were not offered any discount.

We won’t be coming back here.

We walked in looking super sexy and got compliments right away. We sat down The service took sooooooo long and the salad was meh, When getting parmigiano the waiter spilt it ALL OVER ME! The saltyyy bread came after all our food, and my pasta smelled like dog lol. Overall experience: Terrible but extra point for the hot guy.

I think the work they put into health measures throughout the restaurant is remarkable. When it comes to the prices comparing to other places and consider the type of the restaurant, I would call it affordable. Now when it comes to the service there are a few things I be improved. The waiter had a small accident at our table. She apologized and replaced the item as soon as she could. However, nobody came to clean the table. The replacement appetizer and the main course were brought and put on top of the mass.

Stellar service! Everyone went above & beyond to make us feel safe. The creamy gnocchi was out of this world delicious. The hostess and waitress were so accommodating. Great place for a chill weeknight celebration.

We were seated at 6 and didn't get our food until about 7: 20pm. I had to get up and check with the hostess who eventually got our server. Apparently the kitchen was backed up.which, happens. But noone checked on us for an hour, not even to ask us if we wanted to top up our drinks. It was to celebrate my dad's birthday and unfortunately it was our first time at CIBO but will be our last.

In the end they gave the table desserts and although we enjoyed them, its funny that the only thing that came out in a timely manner is something we didn't order.
We were still charged the full bill.

Calamari was good.
Linguine with clams didn’t have enough sauce and was tasteless.
Service was slow.

Excellent service. Great environment. Great food with lots of choices on the menu. Bit pricey but expected when going to Toronto. All in all I definitely would go back.

I haven't received such bad service ever. They did not have so many of the listed scotch or whiskey. Food was awful tasting and they brought melt ice cream. It was a joke. We had a 1+k bill and such disappointment. The staff at the last hr improved the service but I was really unhappy overall.

Overpriced for the quality. Had the pesto pasta and honestly the worst I've had anywhere in Toronto.

I am also thankful to the kitchen staff and chefs for their respect and kindness. I am glad that my first night went well. I look forward to a long career. Thanks JP. I might add that it makes a huge difference when you work with great people.

Lively, modern location. Great for a fun night with friends, where the company and the wine is more important than the food on the plates, which was also good, but lacking something: it could have just been the salt that was missing on every dish, but there was no salt on the table, so I wasn’t able to confirm.

Nice ambience. Server wasn’t too friendly. We waited for over an hour for food (bruschetta and a salad). Overly priced and quality and quantity very poor…

The bruschetta was just bland, the salad was wilted. Insanely overpriced. I hope you guys can figure out the staff’s behaviour and manners and taste your own food.

The restaurant's interior is beautiful and the servers re friendly and welcome. My waiter was named Daniel & he went out of his way to provide excellent service.

The food was delicious so was the wine recommendation he gave.

Overall great time, but the bill was pricey, but hey gotta treat yourself once in a while.

The interior is nice and the service was good but the food is disappointing and not worth the price. Stared out with the worst bruschetta I’ve ever had - soggy, room temperature diced tomatoes on top of 4 tiny pieces of soggy bread. No Parmesan, herb garnish, taste of garlic. My main was the carbonara and while it tasted good, it was swimming in white sauce which is just not what a carbonara is. The lobster ravioli was apparently decent, but the portion was underwhelming for the price.

Ordered delivery and the spaghetti and meatballs were missing the meatballs. Another dish had a HAIR and SAND in it. Gross and will never get again

Would have been nice to see a happy server who would help suggest items from the extensive menu that they have. It's great to have so many choices on the menu but all servers should know what the "Best Sellers" are off hand, should be able to suggest customers items off the menu based on their needs, modifications to the meals, etc.but sadly it felt that the server was either not happy with our skin color or too many questions that we were asking or whatever not reason he had, however, he was doing perfectly fine with the rest of the tables around - a table with 2 girls, a large group with 6 people, another couple sitting next to us a well - since they were all "white". I guess the words "Thank You/ You're Welcome" were not part of his vocabulary while serving our table even though the 2 of us sitting at the table kept using the words "Thank You" for him getting us cutlery, plates, food, drinks, etc.to our table - there was just a 0 response to everything. All tables were checked up on after a few bites upon getting their meals & we weren't even asked once if everything was how we asked for. It's really disappointing to write this review but I'm hoping this doesn't happen to anyone else or if it's already happened to you, please do write a review or inform management. Lindsay (Manager) of this location was kind enough to hear out our experience & I'm hoping to erase this review to re-write a positive one once we re-visit in the future.

Awful service, food was fine. For the price point, I would not recommend! You’re far better off going to Grazie a few doors down!

We were chasing down servers for drinks and food the entire meal. It took 20-30 min just to order a drink, once drinks arrived the server disappeared for another 20-30 min, at which point our drinks were empty and we had been trying to flag down any server to order our meals and another round of drinks.

Mains arrived before appetizers, the food was cold and we had to create a pile of dishes next to the table since no servers were coming around to clear the plates and glasses.

Manager was very rude and told us it was our fault for not complaining earlier in the meal. They did not apologize for the poor service or offer to compensate us for the experience.

Food was good, service was okay, but the server was over rushed. Not his fault, he clearly had a big section and was triple sat as I saw. My only flaw is with the payment terminal only allowing 18-20-22% I usually tip 18 but wanted to tip 16% because it was rushed service and a very high bill. I usually don't complain but it came to a $56 tip for what was a 1 hour and 5 minute dinner. My beer was beyond warm, arguably hot and I felt obligated to tip 18% because It didn't allow a lower option.

I don't blame the server at all, he was great for how much work he had to do. I just wish it was my option to choose the tip, not the buisneses.

Side note, we were a five top, In my opinion, not a big table that may have deserved an autograph or forced gratuity.

First time at Cibo, everything else we ordered was great except for the Penne Arrabbiata that I chose. I love spicy hot but this was way beyond spicy hot. I've had Arrabbiata elsewhere and wasn't as hot and able to finish it without having to constantly drink water or eat off the other guests' plates to cool off my mouth. It's like a whole jar of pepperoncino was dumped on the pasta.

Food is ok. But Not a big fan of Italian. Just lacks flavour. Went there for someone's b'day.

Veal Milanese was not edible, potatoes were completely burnt and the waitress didn’t even ask if there’s anything wrong with my untouched dish…. Definitely the worst Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to.

Bad service with servers. Being the first time here, the server couldn't suggest us meals that sell most & told us it's up to you what you want to pick, you can let me know.

Had dinner there yesterday and ordered an antipasto platter, calamari, lobster ravioli and mushroom risotto for two of us. We had asked our server if two appetizers would be too much and she said yes, but we mentioned we were splitting it and went ahead and ordered it. When the calamari arrived it came in two separate bowls so we assumed they split it ahead and I even thanked the server for splitting it ahead of time. It tasted good, and so did our prosciutto and cheese platter.

Our main courses arrived and my friend commented on the ravioli being a strange texture. I had to agree because the lobster filling was extremely pasty. It tasted like someone put flour or fillers in it so bulk it up and reduce the lobster. I’ve had this meal before and it wasn’t fresh like it usually is. It’s usually sweet on the inside but was poorly made and wasn’t as fresh as it usually is. We didn’t say anything because I felt bad since I’m trying to support local businesses. The risotto was fine, nothing special but tasted okay.

I paid the bill and then suddenly realized the amount was quite steep. Looked at the receipt and we were charged for two orders of calamari. That didn’t make sense because we asked to split it and when I had thanked the server for splitting it ahead, she just said you’re welcome without any indication. The portion also seemed like a half portion because it wasn’t very big at all and was pricey, so we didn’t think she gave us a double order.

The server wasn’t as cooperative and told me I had paid and there wasn’t anything she could do. I had to keep insisting and she finally brought the manager. We explained the confusion but he told us since we had paid there wasn’t anything he could do, but perhaps give us a dessert. We couldn’t have any more food so declined. He gave me his card and said the next time we’re back he will give us something. But he didn’t indicate this on my receipt when I asked him to. Just the business card.

I can’t understand why the server would think that we each needed a calamari order when we also ordered an antipasto platter. The serving size also doesn’t correlate with the price because that would mean 8 tiny pieces of baby squid were $20 each. The serving honestly was half a portion.

I have been to this place in the past and enjoyed it, it this time the quality threw me off quite a bit and I have to admit I’m disappointed. Our server was fine but for the amount you pay, you expect excellent service. Portion sizes are small but I’m happy to pay for a high quality meal. This time it really wasn’t. I hoped the manager refunded my extra charge but apparently they have no way to do that, which cannot be possible.

As a foodie and someone who enjoys high quality meals, I can’t say that I will return back to this place. It used to be good and perhaps I’ll try another location again, but the Yonge and Eglinton location has gone down in terms of service and quality, which is sad.

Horrible service; server named Mario really looks down at clients. We had a reservation made & literally left without having any dinner paid for the drinks & out. You guys really need to focus more on customer service.

Not a bad place to grab drinks with their new patio. However for the price your paying (especially by recommending 18% minimum tip) the customer service can definitely be improved.

One of the nicer patios in Uptown Yonge. Calzone, pasta and grilled veggie plate with 3 drinks was $98*tax. Grilled veggies were bland, they need olive oil and salt. Calzone and spicy pasta were very good. Patio setting was relaxing.

Decided to order in today because I heard good things about Cibo and the line up was packed for dining in.
Looked at potential options online and came across this chicken linguine dish. LOL. I can’t believe how far off the delivered product was. What the heck is that!
We also ordered calamari that was so undercooked that I had to air fry the entire portion. Also take in how big the portion was for $20 in the picture. Do not waste your time with this place.

Food tastes great! The atmosphere is nice, makes you feel fancy. I would highly recommend going the winterlicious event if they are participating - the dessert was my favourite part!

My wife got food poisoning! We usually go to the Yorkville location and its good but tried take out from the Yonge and Eglinton location.

We had to wait two hours for food. It was okay, but there are so many other amazing Italian restaurants in this area I'd look elsewhere.

Check out Quanto Basta, or any of the numerous Trattorias!

I didn't want to believe the reviews. But they were right. The food is flavorless. Like basics are missing, salt, pepper. I ordered through door dash. They also gave me the wrong pizza. Never again.
