One of the best ‘movieplex’ in Toronto. Situated in the downtown core along Richmond street, the Scotiabank Theatre is also one of the partner venues for the Toronto International Film Festival.

There is a long yet grand escalator that takes you to the first floor where the ticketing and halls are.

There is a Starbucks inside and a couple other fancy restaurant joints in addition to the popcorns and the usual cool drink dispensers.

Very well kept, thanks to all the staff!

The parking though is a bit tricky although there is free public parking along walking distance if you get lucky.

Great place. I always have good movies. Just don't go on a holiday or it will be crazy

An incredible place to go to the movies, the bar and restaurant on site make it a perfect place to spend an afternoon watching movies or to attend an incredible date, the variety of drinks, the movies to choose from and the friendliness of the staff, They make the place one of the best cinemas in Toronto.

I had a great time. The seats are comfortable, and the service was awesome.
I would definitely return to watch another film.

Great theatre that is of course always showing the latest and greatest movies. They have been threatening to turn it into a condo for years and I will cry whenever that ends up happening. This is my go to theatre and I’m probably there at least once a week.

They have some more comfortable theatres, they have IMAX, etc. Sadly no VIP theatre, but that’s okay.

My only complaint really is about the audiences. I think people have gotten much more disrespectful in group settings and the past many movies I’ve seen, there have been people on their phones, talking loudly, etc. Not sure what happened to everyone, but not the theatres fault ultimately. Hopefully they can enforce no phones a little stricter, it really ruins the experience of going.

Overrated location.the seating here sucks as when you recline, you hit the knees of the person behind you.this needs to be fixed.screenx is a scam.the IMAX here is one of the only real IMAX in canada.the drink machine is great!
some staff are rude.the bathrooms need to be cleaned more often.

Average seating arrangements. No interval. Seats are closely packed little adjustments can be done.

Great facility and massive screen. I went for Mission Impossible DR 1 and loved the action and surround system IMAX audio. Can't wait for Part 2.
30 August 2023 22:45
Came to see Mission Impossible yesterday at cinema 10 for the movie experience. The seats when fully reclined doesn't leave enough leg room for humans of any height, the space was also too warm and stuffy at times. I rather watch movie at home where I'm more comfortable.

Here's what I dont understand. I watch commercial television and it's free other than the cost of the cable service. I watch Netflix and it is commercial free because I do pay for the feed. Now, why should I have to sit through 20 commercial advertisements before the movie here even though I am paying more for one movie than a month"s worth of Netflix? This is twenty darn commercials! Even commercial TV doesn't subject me to that torture and it's free!
23 January 2019 20:12
Went with my family on Christmas day to see a movie as is our tradition. Was forced to watch 20 minutes of commercials. It was a nightmare.never going to the movies again!
21 January 2019 15:06
Visiting from South Florida this movie theater is big but the seating is cramped with very little legroom. I got a leg cramp and couldn't stretch my leg. Had to piss multiple people off and excuse myself through the limited aisle in order to stretch my leg.
19 January 2019 0:19
The overall experience was good but the screen has be stretched out tightly.it have wrinkles all across the screen in auditorium 2. Its not that clear in 3D experience. Please clear it.
18 January 2019 9:18
Amazing staff. Never had I had a bad experience with them.
I lost my mitts, they helped me find them.
They refunded a ticket when I purchased the wrong one.
My only complain is the chairs. Let's be honest, they are comfortable. But they recline too much! I had multiple instances where they would hit my knees from the people in front of us.
12 January 2019 23:44
• Good theater, and clean. IMAX is the highlight of this theatre.
• There's also a bar and arcades while you wait for the movie.
• You can buy a beer here, and bring it inside their theatres.
• The only thing is that, you might need to workout a long way stairs when elevator is down.
11 January 2019 22:33
Cineplex is a huge monopoly, so they don't really have to compete. Out of the Cineplex theatres it is definitely one of the better ones although prices are expensive.

After downloading the app and purchasing a ticket which had informed me, due to the demand they were only 18 tickets left for that viewing I proceeded to purchase and made an error. I actually purchased a super ticket which includes a copy of the movie delivered to you when he comes out for public viewing.
At the theater in the confessions were almost empty that purchased $8 worth of ice-cold popcorn.
The movie started and in the beginning there was a vomiting scene we're all of the 14 yes only 14 are the people in the theater started vomiting themself.
I'm in stage 4 cancer and will not be around in 2 to 3 months when the video comes out also paying over $57 cuz that experience was disgusting.
On the way out I have spoken with the manager he offered me a complimentary one person weekday viewing free ticket. NO THANK YOU!

I have been going to the stator for a very very very very long time. Since the day it was made. I am a bit disappointed. Especially what they have done to the ground floor. It's used to have a model of Star Trek Enterprise and a Klingon ship in battle mode face off. They removed it. I just don't believe it! And if turn the ground for into a video-game arcade kind of thing. First name of the video game fan. But I don't believe it. That's what they did. Once you entered this theater could you use to be a feeling of openness. And a feeding of imagination. You had a list of all the movies in front of you. Which I'm being played. And which are coming. And now we enter the theater and we encounter boxes. Not good. Or perhaps I'm just being nostalgic.
26 December 2018 15:13
Astonishingly bad screen tearing during the imax preshow; to the point that I developed a headache that lasted most of the rest of the movie. Hopefully they can get a projectionist who understands framerate soon. Furthermore the french fries felt much more defrosted than fried leading to a wilted taste and texture reminiscent of the disinterested customer service attitudes of the food counter workers. To top it off signs that point the wrong way and you wonder who is running the place. How unfortunate.

Service at the restaurant initially was poor. We waited and no server came to seat us. We went to the bar and a waitress named Karma or Kama (not really sure which one was her name) simply looked at us, and walked by us as if we didn't exist. Not even a "I'll be with you in a minute" or "I'll have someone to help you". She was really rude. Perhaps having a bad day. Thank goodness Kevin spotted this and helped us. We was an amazing waiter. Food and drinks came quickly and he always checked up on us. Kevin is a 11/10. Karma or Kama deserve a - 1/10 seriously. Rudest waitress I've ever seen.

So a couple weeks ago I saw the Suspiria remake in Auditorium #4 of this theatre. First time I ever been, and when you're going up the escalators it really gets your heart pounding.
You step off the escalator and find that you're looking through a glass wall out to the street below. Really awesome view. If only the neighbouring area was equally awesome and you'd have yourself a postcard photo.
You go into the theatre and it looks really nice. There's so much going on around you. It's like you're at the Canada's Wonderland of Canadian movie theatres.
While the movie was great, there was a hissing noise coming from somewhere around the left side of the ceiling and was very audible during the quieter parts of the movie. Other than the hissing noise, Radio Ga Ga could also be heard coming from the right side because the Queen biopic was playing next door in Ultra AVX. It was so irritatingly distracting that the person who makes up the showtime slates must have a wicked sense of humour and deliberately schedule those movies to have that occur.
So ya, I'm giving this place a 3/5. This is more of a review of Auditorium #4 than it is the entire theatre. If Suspiria had been playing in any other auditorium, I might have been able to give the place a 4 or a 5.

As far as movie theatres go this one is pretty standard. They do have a decent collection of cinemas, and prices seem to be average high for a downtown theatre.
21 November 2018 1:35
Great theatre that stands out from the rest. The entrance is breathtaking, the service is great, and overall the atmosphere and feel is uplifting. The theatre is kept very clean and the service is quick and friendly. The washrooms are a bit out of the way snd not directly in sight, but otherwise I'd recommend checking this place out.
15 November 2018 15:16
Getting drinks is a nightmare. They placed the drinks near the ticket line so the line-up for drinks and line-up for showing your ticket are intermingled. Once you get to the drink machines, it's so damn tight that you're bound to knock a drink or a popcorn over. Abd then you have to line up to show your ticket. Horrible system.
15 November 2018 2:28
Large multiplex cinema with all the bells and whistles (IMAX, AVX), including a fun new gaming area on the street level. All blockbusters all the time. Numerous food and drink options over and above the usual theatre snacks. Licensed lounge. Comfortable stadium seating. Elevator and escalator access to the cinema / box office level, which is perched high in the sky.
13 November 2018 18:18
The establishment has one of the best staff, I’ve ever had the pleasure to talk with. I had a complication with my movie tickets (Halloween, 2018) and the staff directed me to the help desk, they not only fixed my issue within seconds but offered me tickets to the next show (it was 25 minutes into the movie, but commercials ended after 20 min, so I kindly refused). The popcorn is freshly popped, with butter dispensers to add at your own leisure, with drink stations with an enormous selection. If you feel bad about all food, you could take the deadly walk down the enormous flight of stairs or just take one of the many escalators. The theatres were extremely clean, and roomy.
One of the seats might have been broken as they reclined to ridiculous levels. Overall, a great experience. (Also, parking was not difficult to find at this location).
07 November 2018 18:48
Was here during tiff, it works be nice if there was numbered seating, but obvi that would cost$$. Just sucks to have to arrive early and line up to get a decent seat. Otherwise the place is decent, bathrooms could use more tlc

A very nice movie theater, well kept, clean. The service is pretty good, what you would expect from a theater. They seem to be renovating the downstairs, from the looks of construction, into a VR arcade. The screen, seats and sound in the actual auditoriums are at standard. No complaints.
14 October 2018 7:05
It's a good theatre. The seats are comfy. You can see all the newly released blockbusters, as well as some of the lesser known releases. It's one of those theatres that serves real food, not just the usual popcorn and candy.
29 September 2018 12:37
The best movie theatre in Toronto for Blockbuster big budget action flicks. Great junk food options and hard liquor is served here too! In the heart of Downtown, after a movie there's a ton of dining and entertainment options. Underground parking is very affordable, and transit is just a 2 minute walk away.
20 September 2018 7:33
Horrible management.disgusting and awful washrooms with roaches everywhere.do not eat food from here as rat poop is often found in the popcorn.avoid this theatre at any cost and spend your money elsewhere.
15 September 2018 0:10
If you love seats that are uncomfortable and an arcade with half the machines out of order, or a bartender that doesn't know the beers available, and doesn't pay any attention to you, then THIS IS THE PLACE for you.

Check it out before it's gone, and forget about buying your tickets downstairs now. That is an attempt at VR. Not my favourite theatre, if you couldn't tell.
08 September 2018 16:15
Great experience, all the way from the concierge to the drink dispensers (they had Coke vanilla), watched Sicario 2, great movie, great time throughout. Snacks are obviously exponentially expensive than outside food but that's common knowledge. The ratings speak for themselves.

The Scotiabank Theatre is one of the best theatres in Toronto. You have IMAX, 3D in conjunction with the featuring of the latest releases and other specialized films and this gives you the ultimate film experience.

This is a fun place to catch a flick, especially in the summer time. If in downtown Toronto and looking to watch a movie, this is the place to visit.
