City Dental On Yonge

I went here for two years after moving to the area and each time was a different dentist. Each dentist gave me conflicting advice (flossing twice a day was too much, then it was too little, then it didn't matter how often I flossed). My previous dentist was the same person and I very much appreciated the consistency. City Dental on Yonge doesn't seem to have any consistency.

TLDR: They will try to charge you extras that aren't covered under your insurance and LIE to you about it! Be careful and don't allow any procedures to be done until after they put it through your insurance.
I recently moved to Toronto and was in need of a new dentist. I originally went to the 55 Young location as it was closer to me. My first experience was not bad, but I did notice that they attempted to complete a bunch of services that I didn't need. I made it very clear I would only wanted services covered by my insurance.
My next appointment was then changed to this location as 55 young location (although new) was under renovations. I went in for a routine cleaning, and for the first time ever I was asked if I wanted polishing as well. I asked why she was asking this as usually I get a cleaning and polishing together and I was told "polishing is not covered for this visit by your insurance. " I then inquired if the cleaning was covered and made it clear I did not want the cleaning if it was not covered and was told "your cleaning is covered. "
On my way out after my appointment I was asked to pay via credit card. I told them to charge it through my insurance and they told me "there seems to be something wrong with the system because we see you have coverage but it is not accepting it as this time. You will be able to process this yourself through your insurance". Not wanting to argue I decided to pay and process it myself. I was denied by my insurance because the cleaning was not covered. When I reached out to the dentist office about this I was told "I would like to enlighten you that insurance is like your bank account they will not give us complete and detailed information. " I found it very interesting that they were able to know the polishing wasn't covered by that they weren't aware the cleaning wasn't. I will be changing dentist.

Absolutely love the service at this City Dental location. The entire staff is friendly, fun, and they even let you watch shows of your choosing during cleanings.

Even though I have since moved from the area, I still make the commute over because I'd rather take the time to do so than lose an atmosphere that truly makes me feel cared for as a patient.

All I can is that every time I have come into this clinic, I have been treated with upmost care between Neha and Dr. Patodia. I always admire when a team works well together and you see that here. I have never been one to like dentists, but here I genuinely feel open to coming and taking good care of my teeth!

Everyone was very helpful and responsive. Unfortunately the dental work I got done needed to be fixed by multiple different dentists after the fact. Had some cavities filled and it left my mouth misaligned for months- nice people but questionable skill

City Dental is a great office for all your dental care, especially the location at 415 Yonge Street. The receptionists are always pleasant and courteous, the dentist and care team are always extremely caring. I'm always pleased with my visits and dental care.

I’ve never had a cavity in my life. I went here and the dentist told me I had a cavity and needed a filling. I refused and eventually found another dentist to go to. The new dentist confirmed I have no cavities.

Amazing knowledgeable caring staff, courteous, friendly, take cleanliness and the pandemic seriously for my safety and theirs. Always address my concerns and remember that I hate cherry polish and liquid fluoride. They are wonderful.

Nadine is unmatched. She is the best hygienist I’ve ever had who has been cleaning my teeth for the last few years. I was disappointed though by the other staff they have here - I had to reschedule last minute so I had a different hygienist who did such a rush job on my teeth. Compared to Nadine, the other lady yesterday didn’t work her tools to go through ever nook and cranny in my mouth. She rushed over each tooth and was super sloppy. I laid there so uncomfortable and was ready to get up halfway through my session to leave. I cannot believe this clinic allows sloppy workers to be there.

Nadine makes my cleaning well worth my time and money (she’s super friendly, chatty, detailed thorough, and smart) as opposed to the service I received from the other “hygienist”. If you’re looking for a good cleaning, I can assure you will get that from Nadine at this location.

Avoid. Patronizing hygienist, they overcharge many of their services (even with my $2000 insurance coverage, wouldn't be enough for even 3 regular cleaning trip to the dentist. Even charged me for 2 minutes unsolicited 'consultation' on how to brush my teeth lol). I really tried to see if the bad experience is one off, but nope. It was just consistently bad with other locations too.

I came here for an appointment a while back and actually booked it on my birthday. I had the best greetings once I walked into the clinic and kind birthday wishes from all the employees. They even gave me a sephora gift card to celebrate. Overall this place goes above and beyond most dental clinics I've been to. I moved away from the area but still book appointments here and it's great even if it's not your birthday I promise!

First of all, the staff here are all pretty nice and environment is clean.

But I do doubt their professionalism and their billing. I did filling in this place, and I got pain afterwards and they even charged me over $100 for their mistakes. And they said my cavities are very serious but I checked with other dentists they only said it’s minor. Other dentist quickly fixed them without any pain afterwards. They tried to book client many follow ups even though those can be done within one session.

Please go to other dental places and avoid this one.

Quick, professional and very considerate staff. Everybody took great care to make sure I was comfortable, and the staff is very friendly overall.

I have been recently coming to City Dental for my treatment. I like the ambience & the staff is very kind & helpful. Dr. Patodia is very informative and light with hands. My hygiene appointment was handled with care making sure that I don’t feel uncomfortable. I would recommend this clinic to my friends & family for sure.

This dental office is horrible. I’ve been going there for almost 6 years and finally found the energy to switch dentists.
1. Every time I visited it was a different dentist examining me. There was no continuity of care
2. One of the dental hygienists was extremely patronizing. She would take out the TOOTH FIGURINE and demonstrate HOW TO BRUSH MY TEETH. Not once but every time I went! I am 28 years old. This alone was enough to make me switch dentists. She also tried to tell me to stop drinking coffee because it stains teeth.
3. They told me problems about my teeth and gums that I had never heard before and have not been backed up by my current or previous dentists
4. They were constantly making false promises. I was supposed to receive 2 different referrals which never transpired and who I am now discovering contraindicate each other (having braces and having gum grafts)
5. Every time I had an appointment they would call me a couple days before and ask me to move my appointment to another day or time
6. One day I cancelled my appointment over 24hrs in advance because of COVID symptoms and they told me they have a 48hr cancellation period and I would have to pay a cancellation fee.

The list goes on! There are dentists on every corner of Toronto. Definitely look elsewhere

I have been coming here for a few years and have always felt the service is exceptional. I appreciate how seamless they make what is typically a very stressful procedure and manage it with professionalism and reassurance.

Nela at the front desk is incredibly kind and accommodating, always helping to find convenient appointments. Her patience has been incredibly welcoming to me and because of her taking such care of her patients, I have brought my family to this location.

Today I was treated by Dr. Patodia, who answered all of my questions thoroughly. It is very helpful given my worries about my dental health, and her taking the time in an open manner was vital to my positive experience.

Thank you to Nadine the hygienist who was so nice and understanding despite the hassles I brought being delayed in transit!

No one really enjoys going to the dentist but City Dental on Yonge makes the experience comfortable! The staff are wonderful and the hygienist is efficient, professional and easy to talk to about dental concerns. I always feel informed and in control of my dental health thanks to the support of the team at City Dental on Yonge.

Be careful going to this place. I booked a cleaning appt for August (this month) back in January 2022. No one told me that my appt was for xrays and an exam on top of my cleaning. I didn't know until I got there. I didn't have time to do all of it so I had to come back another time to do the cleaning. I asked why I needed to do xrays in the first place and they just said my other ones were outdated. The dentist didn't even tell me anything about my xrays and how they were after doing them. I still question why I even needed the xrays in the first place. It took up almost half of my insurance coverage just for that appointment and I didn't get anything out of it. After my last cleaning with them in 6 months (and before my next insurance benefit year) I will definitely be going to another dentist.

Update: talked to Sarah from the dental office. She offered some solutions to make my experience better. Updated from 2 stars to 4 because solutions sound promising. Will not give 5 until I actually have a good experience with a dentist there. I will find out next month.

I've been going to City Dental for 4 years and have been very satisfied with the service and staff. Very professional and polite, and effective in treatment.

Who like to go to the dentist? I don't like it! But i actually had a good time this time with Johanne. Since I go there my gum is getting better and better, means that cleaning is less painful compared to what it was before. So def I don't like cleaning, but my hygienist made my experience smoother.

Absolutely loved the dentist I seen today super informative and soft spoken. Clean space, modern design.
