Cluny Bistro & Boulangerie

All of the food was amazing there. The budgets were fresh and fluffy. I had boar meat for the first time but it was tender and smooth.

The desserts were very unique and cute, and not only the presentations but also really tasty.
It’d be one of my favorite restaurants in the Distillery District.

Menu has inspired combinations, food is tasty, service is friendly and attentive, and atmosphere is on brand. However it is a little pricy for the portion sizes

Wonderful brunch spot. Delicious offerings! The restaurant is decorated in a nice French style, which adds to the allure.

Everything was amazing, starting from the ambiance to the excellent service to the food! Everyone loved the food (two couples) paired with an amazing wine, I definitely recommend the pork dish and the portions are very generous compared to other similar priced spots.

The food was good, but not amazing. The onion soup and the flat iron steak were tasty. However, there was disappointment knowing that the chicken liver pâté had been modified which was unexpectedly different from the traditional French dish. The server was nice enough to take it back from us and politely gave us back the menu so that we could order another dish.

Beautiful big restaurant with a patisserie. Has a pleasant and approachable Parisian atmosphere. Good service and food.

Treats their employees terribly, doesn’t look like a great environment to work in and employees don’t seem to get breaks. Overheard a conversation between an employee and management and they were complaining about having no breaks or microwaves to heat their food…They all deserve the best (employees), i feel bad for them. They are so sweet.

Everyone was gracious and accommodating- and I would like to give a special thanks to the Manager for accommodating our request to be moved to a specific table.

The one star missing is only for the temperature, unfortunately the a/c could not overtake the hot and humid weather.

Cluny used to be my favorite place in Toronto, but I had very bad experiences recently, food is not good and over priced, the waiter is impatient and not friendly

The steak is ridiculously good and the inside vibe is really nice. Just wish they had a little more selection on their menu

After a long time trying, I finally made a reservation to have lunch at Cluny.
The place is amazing! Incredibly beautiful! The problem was that we didn't had the chance to eat in there. We looked at the menu and more than the half of plates was marked as SOLD OUT. We decided to go out and try another restaurant instead.

It is in truth very expensive for what the offer. The restaurant ambience is nice, and the server was also nice but the food was pretty bad to be honest. I had the salmon and it was dry, the rice was flavourless. The best part we’re the desserts I think, but definitely not worth the price overall.

Can I do less than 1 star? The menu said Malted Hot chocolate. I went in and none of the staff knew what we were talking about and seem very unimpressed with us asking for help. Not a place to go if you expect good service or knowledge of their menu.

The location and atmosphere was alright. With Covid, still found our table too close to others for comfort.
Reason for one star is the over the top pricing for what you get.
We ordered the 7oz tenderloin…smallest piece I’ve ever seen and no way 7oz’s if it was even 5. For $51 WAAAAAAAAY over priced with lukewarm string fries…no options for veggies or potatoes in any other format.
Will never return.

Definitely the highlight of the restaurant is the gorgeous interior and terrace. The food at dinner was good.

Very slow service on Saturday night. Sticky tables. Menu was confusing. Basically I was under impression I was ordering duck, but it came as a sandwich on bread.

The waiter must have been having an off day, and was somewhat rude. He couldn't find diet Coke, and took it out on us. The IPA was also tapped out. But the food was excellent, and the manager did try to make it up to us.

Overall not a bad restaurant. I find food can be hit or miss at times, depending what you order

After one of our favourite spots changed owners and a super disappointing last visit at another local favourite, I was looking for somewhere that would do a really good steak frites, for my partner's birthday. I had been meaning to check out Cluny for a girls' brunch forever, but somehow it never happened. Decided to take a chance and made the reservation for dinner. We were NOT disappointed. First of all, the space is just lovely. We booked for indoor dining on a weeknight (last week) and were very generously spaced away from the next nearby table.

Second, from the very beginning our server, Mark, was super helpful, kind and completely unpretentious. He said he'd been working there for over 5 years and I can see why he would be kept on. He honestly made the already fantastic dinner an 11/10.

As for the food, based on Mark's thoughtful recommendations, both my partner and I ordered the flat iron steak with frites, medium rare. I was worried that we maybe should have gotten the more expensive striploin, but based on the recommendation of presentation and flavour/leanness, we stuck with the flat iron. WOW! I have not had such a tender and flavourful, perfectly medium rare flat iron in a long time. There was a small snafu in the kitchen, where I had requested my butter (for the steak topping) on the side and it arrived already on the steak, but Mark immediately saw it and sent it back and it was fixed within a couple of minutes so I could still enjoy dining along with my partner. The shoestring fries were also definitely not throwaway - they had a lovely light seasoning.

For dessert I had a scoop of the raspberry sorbet which was pretty standard, but very good, and my partner order the fancy "Le Coconut" which was a coconut cream-based dessert with mango compote that came in a hollow dark chocolate coconut-shaped vessel. I asked our server to please do something special for this dessert and it came out with a Happy Birthday message in chocolate sauce on the plate, with a small birthday candle - very cute. My partner said the dessert was delicious. All in all, a phenomal dinner. Highly recommend - would definitely go again, and thanks again to our very nicer server, Mark.

I used to get coffee, sandwiches, and bread quite often here during the first year of the pandemic. They have some really nice bread/pastry options. My favourites are their sourdough and the flaky loaf.

The restaurant has some very nice dishes that are definitely worth trying out. Good atmosphere. Notable is the french onion soup.

Absolutely superb short rib beef hash from their brunch menu. Highly recommend. The sangria was a very large serving but it was not tasty at all and I would not recommend.

To be honest the food was great and the drinks on point. Clearly the kitchen knows what is doing. However, the hostess was dismissive to questions. The waitres was attentive but did not know their own menu. I agree with many of the reviews. Just go grab some good food and leave.

We were seated indoors (picture included). I ordered the pineapple mojito, and my partner ordered a drink that I can't remember, but they're happy with their drink.
My drink on the other hand had little to no alcohol, and no pineapples. I remember there were two bartenders, one gentleman and one lady. The gentleman made our drinks and took care of our table, and at the point I didn't know what my drink should look like. Then I saw the lady bartender making a drink that has pineapples and I asked her what drink is that, so she told me it's the pineapple mojito. At that point we were paying and ready to leave. We were the only table in that whole area, so if the place was busy, I would've understood.

Had a fantastic first experience here 2 weeks ago. A beautiful venue & luxurious food, our first time having French style of cooking. The sommelier Justin was extremely kind and made my boyfriend's birthday dinner an extra special experience for the 2 of us.

We had a less-than-great experience at Cluny for Saturday brunch. Our server wasn’t particularly attentive or nice from the start, which was unfortunate as we are a friendly group. Upon arrival, he offered us Americanos when we asked for drip coffee, which we took as they did not have drip coffee (which would have been fine). But we then saw nearby tables with drip coffees…
The food was just okay. The Niçoise Benny lacked flavour, the Farmhouse Breaky was missing the bread upon arrival so we had to ask for it (and wait about 5-10 minutes), and the Daily Omelette was not good. The mixed vegetables were not cooked well into the omelette, and we unfortunately had to send it back for something else.
The ambiance is wonderful, so perhaps we’ll return for a beverage and hopefully have a better time!

I am from Montreal and used to really high-quality patisserie. I swear, this was the best I have ever had. I have even been to Paris. The coffee was 5 out of 10. I had a drip and my friend had a double long macchiato. We had to mix his with mine just to get a half decent cuppa Joe.

Love the atmosphere, drinks were excellent, I feel they lean on a little on new Orleans influenced french cuisine more than classical french. Salmon tartar was good, smoked pea and ham was average. The mushroom tartin was excellent and so was the bayou bites

Nicest servers and amazing food, must visit on a trip to TO.

All I can say is WOW! What a fantastic spot to celebrate a birthday, or have a romantic date night. My boyfriend and I arrived, and though we were late the staff were so accommodating and were able to seat us.

We were greeted by our fantastic server, Miranda. She was so knowledgable of all the food, answered all our questions and was so professional throughout the whole night. She did an amazing bottle service for our table with the most delicious wine!

Our food was incredible, got the caesar salad, poutine and this delicious mushroom appetizer as well. The mains and dessert were also a hit.

Thank you Miranda for such a lovely evening and being so attentive and friendly. From the service, food and atmosphere this place truly deserves the 5 stars.

Hostess # 1 was rude and unprofessional. Hostess # 2 was picking her nails while Hostess # 3 stood by. Hostess # 1 proceeds to act like she is checking the iPad for a spot on the patio while looking bothered by the request (we noticed there were empty tables and jokingly mentioned one could be for us) we were responded to with a reply of "they may be for reservations and the wait would be one hour" (which would take us until 10pm where the kitchen would be closed)

Loved the ambiance, pretty much like anything at the Distillery District. Food is pricey and nothing too special, or at least what we tried. The onion soup arrived cold but I didnt want to say anything; the seafood shore lunch was good but again not worth the $$. The steak frites was very good and the madame duck as well. I dont think we would return though.

The wedge was delicious but I was not a huge fan of the tuna egg benedict. However, the place is beautiful with good customer service. I would still recommend this place and try something else. The food around me looked good and the menu has great options.

This restaurant offers first-rate service and yummy meals. The best restaurant in the area. The food and drinks served rapidly and the prices are affordable. I recommend this place.

We didnt have a reservation. So they gave us a seat on the patio where there was no heater and it was very cold. We felt isolated since we were the only customers in that section. The food and drink were ordinary and overrrr priced.after Ieaving the restaurant we went to tim Hortons and had a coffee and criossant to feel full. Do yourself a favor and think twice before making a reservstion or even considering going there. It is a rip off place

Good food and service, just a little pricey for what it is but I guess that has more to do with the location than anything. I've been 3 times so far, will definitely go again if I'm in the area but parking can be awkward and is very expensive.

Always a pleasure to dine at Cluny. The dishes are consistently good with French décor atmosphere! Love their oyster selections! Find overtime the menu does get boring and without any innovations, looking for some special dishes or off menue items. Overall, a solid place to have good food and romance.

One of the best designed spots in Toronto. Great food and service as well, but the atmosphere really sets this place apart. Everything from the seating to the ceiling to the menus feels as though you've stepped into another modern foreign land. Highly recommended, will be back for sure.

Overall experience and service was amazing. Try some of the more unusual dishes and you will be very pleased. Amazing french onion soup! Be sure to try it! Frog legs were delicious too. Skip the burger.

-I found out about this place when I was Googling up the "best places to eat poutine in Toronto"
-Indeed the poutine here is one of the best, if not the best I've ever had.
-It's big enough to share, tons of cheese!
-Your cheese pull photos will look great on social media.
-The drinks are very strong, all you need is one.
-The Apple Warmer and Maple Old Fashioned were LEGIT.
-I like the layout of this restaurant, they even have a bread bar.
-If you sit near the kitchen, like I did, you can see right through the glass & watch the employees working hard.

Overall, if you are looking for great poutine, this is one of the places to go.

Great customer service, premium good quality. It can be a bit pricey for food portions, but for the service and quality of dining. It can be worth for those special occasions.

Located in the heart of The Distillery District Cluny Bistro is a great place to enjoy a meal with friends or family any time of the year. From the excellent service, unbelievable decor & excellent menu you won't be disappointed. A great venue for company gatherings especially corporate events such as holiday parties. Easily accessible by public transit and with convenient underground parking located nearby every aspect of your visit to Cluny Bistro will be great.

Went there the other day, tried their vegetarian options, the food tasted so different, yet so good!
The place was cosy and the staff were friendly. Would want to go back for sure!

French fries are amazing? !? !? Croque madame? Not so much. Good service, great location. Gets busy so arrive early or make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

Such a nice atmosphere. The theme really comes through. The food was good and service great. My wife and I went for brunch on New year's Day and we loved it. The menu has really good choices and it is not overwhelming with options but there's enough to find something you will like. I love that they serve the fries with mayo. And the pastries were delicious. Will be back for more.

I wanted to give a 4 but the food was underwhelming and my food came out cold which was disappointing. I'll come back again as I know the food is good here and the service was great. Hey even restaurants are aloud to have a bad day

This restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside. The staff are extremely nice. The service was excellent-our drinks came fast. The steak frites were good. The only complaint I have is the hanger steak was tough. I had to leave some of it because I could not chew it.

Attentive service and the entrees my 3 friends had were very good, along with excellent desserts. But avoid the omelette du jour. Barely an egg's worth and a sausage within that mimicked a chef's thumb (and as flavourless). For $19, much more was expected.

Service was not great.somewhat pretentious. The food was average.nothing to write home about. The restroom ran out of tissues and seemed no one was checking.

Food here is made with love, period.
It’s a unique spot, with a good menu and wine/cocktail list. Ambiance is loud but in a lively and positive way. Crowd is mixed but weighing on the settled and mature side.

Service: Standard with detached waiters that just do their job, as opposed to going above and beyond. Not particularly bothersome but it’s noticeable.

Culture: The place seems to manifest a good balance of hip and tradition, somewhat eccentric and innovative.

Unfortunately they don’t do takeout, leaving no option but to pick up sandwiches from the boulangerie, which is great for a morning snack and small deserts, but not for dining in options.

Wasn't great. Service was slow and when the french onion soup was delivered we were waiting for almost 5 minutes for a spoon without being able to flag down a server - we were seated in the front lounge area and most of the time our server nor any service staff could be found. The wine (cab sauv) was delicious but the food was so-so and very slow to come out. Main course speed was understood given the time it takes to cook a soufflé but it was a big cost for slow, unwelcoming service and only okay food.

Such a lovely place. Even during the Christmas market when they are super busy, they still managed to answer my questions with patience and grace. Excellent service staff.
