Hands down the best Indian food experience in Ottawa in my 57 years. The quality of food, the service, atmosphere were all superb. A treasure of a place. Highly recommend and glad it was recommended to us.
After the renos (2.0), the new interior looks great. The waiting staff were excellent and the food was awesome. Was nervous about no butter chicken but the kerala friend chicken and the quilon chicken were awesome suggestions from the waitress. A tad on the pricey side, but very filling and awesome tasting! Parking can be a bit tight, try to get there earlier, otherwise, street parking is it.
The food and ambiance were enjoyable, and the plating was well done. However, I'm giving it 3 stars primarily due to the disappointing condition of the washrooms, which was quite unpleasant.
I was there for dinner with my friends, compare to the old restaurant (before it burned down) the food is very expensive, I had shrimp moilee 30$ and thought rice was included, 7$ a scoop of rice? I guess I’m paying for his renovation, never go back again over priced and didn’t waaaaooo me. Missed my old coconut lagoon.
Ordered butter chicken and it failed to disappoint! Rich, creamy sauce with a refreshing hint of cilantro My guest ordered coconut shrimp curry which I had a taste of, it was spectacular with jumbo tiger shrimp First visit went very well, highly recommended Revise First visit after relocating, rice was totally bland, no pinch of salt or flavor Shrimp dish was disappointing, runny tasteless sauce, shrimp pieces were delicious and big though and well cooked. Not overly and dry $17 for a cocktail! Overly priced and taste is noy there anymore, not much value for your money Atmosphere is fantastic though
Hello Coconut Lagoon, Asual best dinning experience, but really craving your discontinued Brunch Buffet - we used to drive from Montreal just for it and the hospitality during that time was simply amazing. If there is a limited event promotion, Im ready to drive down again, trust me there are others who would be craving for your buffers as well.
Coconut Lagoon serves up some of the best Indian food we've had in Ottawa. Everything was fresh and the servings were plentiful. I had the Signature Thali which included butter chicken, rice, a large poratha, and an assortment of side dishes. Spiciness ranged from medium to mildly hot but we were told they can adapt to taste. My wife had the Shrimp Mango Moilee which she devoured. The quality of the food was top notch. They have a nice selection of beers and beverages. The service is friendly and fast. I only wish I had room to try the dessert!
Great Indian food and very friendly and helpful wait staff. Had to wait a while to be served, but otherwise a really nice place. Good selection of dishes, including vegetarian options.
I've been to a few Indian places and this one is a treat. I can see why it's so busy, the choices are great and the quality was great. The butter chicken tastes a bit different here, it's a bit spicy, but very good. There's a lot of choices though so there's something for everyone.
If you are having a hard time finding a place to go out and eat stop looking. Coconut Lagoon is awesome! The food is always so good! You will want to tell your friends about it.
Excellent Indian buffet with traditional dishes. Most Indian buffets make me a little queasy after but not this one. Even though it was very busy at lunchtime we were able to be seated right away. Food was fresh, Naan bread was traditional and soft. Would definitely visit again.
The is no question the food is immaculate, more so considering the buffet-style service. A buffet requires to be time-efficient as well in order to keep the service flowing and the food delicious. It is a smaller place that get packed quite quickly (not a bad thing). Parking options not convenient. If all you care is the food and good service, you’ll find yourself a way there.
We had a great time at Coconut Lagoon. They were very accommodating of our large group (15 people, we made a reservation about 1.5 weeks in advance) and made the guest of honor feel special. The food was great but what really impressed me was the service. The wait staff were excellent and the service was speedy! I will definitely go back for a regular dinner but I would also definitely recommend them for a party of 10-15 people. We loved it! Thank you!
This is the best Indian food I can ever think off. Nice hospitable server. Been coming here for many years and the food always taste very good. Brought many family and Frens to this place and always get good response. Thank you for the amazing food
The mouth wateringly delicious south Indian food was as outstanding as it always has been. Unfortunately the restaurant's renovation was designed with no accounting for acoustics, or perhaps with intention to make the place so loud that you cannot hear yourself think let alone the person sitting next to you. I actually decided to record the decibel levels which reached an average of 67 and a max of 80, which is straight up bad for your ears. I love this restaurant but the experience was so unpleasant that I won't be coming back until they fix it by putting carpet or acoustic foam or something. Nor would I recommend it to anyone except for the already deaf. I can't imagine how hard it must be for them to wait tables.
Very nice dinner spot! The food was delicious! Menu is clear and concise with vegan options labelled. My favourite items were the chipati and the button mushroom curry. Also had the lentil donuts which are so cool!
Tasty and authentic South Indian buffet. A really small establishment, a bit suffocating if all the tables are occupied. Their biryani is super good, timely refills are done. Overall, a nice place to be for a weekend brunch.
It's a small, no fancy restaurant. We went for lunch buffet on 2nd July, Monday. It wasn't full but as time passed it got busy. Not a whole lot of items as you would expect but whatever was there was very fresh, hot and tasty. $20 buffet, worth every penny. Since we are vegetarians, I can only cover veg food. However, there were 3 4 non veg items. Anyway, awesome south indian food. Except for vadai - dry and sour, I dint like the taste and roti - I personally prefer whole wheat than all purpose flour rotis, we all enjoyed the food. I gave 5 stars because 2 items that I dint like, my husband said good so I guess it's just not for my taste. I especially loved sambhar, black chana salad and cucumber +carrot + onions medley salad. I read that the chef has won regional gold medal and silver medal nationally in food competition which shows in his creation. If you visit Ottawa, do visit this place, we all highly recommend it.
This place smells so freakin' amazing! Everything we've had has been excellent: fragrant, delicious, beautiful, and satisfying. The staff are really thoughtful and non-intrusive. Highly recommended!
