The lady is extremely rude, very confrontational and hostile. She asked me to leave or buy a beverage I told her I will be leaving I need to gather my items, less then 2 mins she came back to me speaking loudly and rude while I remained calm. She was also harassing other customers about the same thing. Don’t not support this business
By far the worst experience at any cafe/restaurant in my entire life. Went there today with my two friends to study. My friends went to grab a seat and I walked straight to the counter to order a drink but the lady started making really rude comments about my friends not ordering anything. She could have just told me it was their policy that everyone had to order but she was making comments the whole time until we all ordered. Never coming back here ever again. It's a shame she owns the place.
The lady is very rude we did a mistake and she overreacted like we did something illegal. SHE HAS ANGER ISSUES OR some type of problem.we was like in shock of how disrespectful she was to her customers.
Very nice Cafe. Come here for a great drink, stay for the warm family feel. But seriously, don't just plop your seat in the booth and use up their services. Buy something, and support the amazing, hard-working owners who make this place incredible.
A great place to socialize, or to work on a project.
It's very obvious that this owner has been systematically trying to drown out the negative reviews with FAKE 5 STAR REVIEWS! What a pathetic business this is. Terrible service by a miserable woman who should not be serving food to people. Her behaviour makes me wonder how sad her life must be. After spending over $50 here, my friends and I got food poisoning. Avoid, avoid, avoid! DO NOT EAT HERE!
I have been there before, nice place, good service, it is unique, I would say it has that nice feeling, if you are around go visit and let me know. The owners are wonderful.
I have been going to the Scarborough coffee culture quite often over the past few years. This is because they have organic coffee.
Not once have I gotten a friendly Good morning, greet or a Hi How are you from the business owners. Regardless, I have still come in to bring them business for years.
Today, was the first time I had brought a banana in along with some of my supplements. Again, without a greet and before ordering my coffee, the woman owner denied me because I had brought “outside food” in. I let her know, I wouldn’t be eating it in here & won’t be staying long, but I was also quite upset about her approach & rude treatment. I understand the nature of the business & that is fine, but I definitely should not have been spoken to & treated the way I was as a loyal customer.
I won’t be back & I highly recommend that if you want to support a family business, support one that is kind & friendly. Not them, especially when someone is trying to start their day off happy & positively. This was a horrible experience.
This coffee shop is my favorite place to hang and do my works. The ambiance of this cafe is relaxing, and the staffs are highly capable. I could not ask for more because everything that I needed was provided. Well done, keep going guyz!
Place saids opens at 8: 30 am went there it was closed owners open when ever they want not good also order a bagel with cheese once before the cheese slice was thinner than paper too expensive and not enough cheese on bagel do not recommend
I would rate 0 stars if I could. The lady who I presume is the owner has no customer service etiquette at all. She is rude and unpleasant. There are signs all over that you must order first before doing anything else in the restaurant (sit, use washroom, etc). I was in line waiting to order and my husband tried to use the washroom in the meanwhile, they refused to let him until we ordered. Very unprofessional. We will not be returning.
The owner is really rude. Empty restaurant and they won't allow you to chill and enjoy the vibe. Loud shaking in the background and grumpy staff. I am a regular at coffee shops and this was my first and last stop at this location.
ZERO STARS - just like many of the other reviews mention the Indian lady that works at this location is absolutely rude and obnoxious. She is clearly unhappy working there. As soon as I sat down she ran up to me to say I need to buy a drink before I place my things down. When I went up to the front to order, she was so snarky and rude saying that I could not just buy one coffee if 2 people are sitting. She didn’t even ask if I wanted anything else or let me make a choice to order another item. Will never go to this coffee culture again. She needs to be fired.
I will NEVER go back to this location. Today I went there to have something to eat with my cousin. I’ve gone to this location a few times alone, but this time I invited her to join me. I went in, sat down and waited for her. I didn’t want to be rude and order without her, so I just waited for her. About five minutes in, a staff, I’m pretty sure it was the owner/manager, rudely came over and told me I needed to buy something to sit there (I’ve seen her before. She’s not welcoming she doesn’t smile like the other staff. She seems very miserable and as though it’s like a bother for her to be there). I told her I would buy something, but I’m waiting on my cousin who is running late. She asked how long it would take. I said we were to meet 5-6 minutes ago, but she will be here shortly. She proceeded to tell me that “the seat is only for paying customers, and until you go to the counter and buy something, you are not a paying customer. ” I was absolutely shocked! And I told her just that. She then told me there’s a sign outside stating this. I was appalled. I told her that she was rude and I would not be eating there or spending any money after her addressing me like that. She said “Okay, you can go. ” Extremely poor customer service from a person with a disgusting/bad attitude to be addressing me like that in front of other customers. As soon as I went through the door, my cousin came from her car. I told her what happened and she said that we definitely would not be eating there. We found another cute little café elsewhere and ate there. I have never had an issues like this at Coffee Culture in all the years I’ve been going there. I understand that people come in and sit there without buying anything, but there was definitely a better way to approach me, and as a manager/ owner, which I would have expected. By far the absolute worse customer service I’ve received at a coffee shop. If anyone approaches you like that there, do not tolerate it and leave. Establishments like that do not deserve any of your hard earning money.
I had a positive experience at this establishment, and I was impressed by the owners' efforts to maintain cleanliness, given its proximity to a laundry place next door. They do expect customers to make purchases, rather than just using the space while waiting for their laundry. It's important to treat every business fairly, and some of the negative comments about this establishment seem unfair.
The aged lady at the front who runs cash is rude. I’ve only been here 3 times this past month just for breakfast as I started to go to the coin laundry next door on the weekends. I tried to give this place a chance and thought that she was just having a bad day, but at every single visit I noticed a pattern as she always felt the need to argue with at least one customer. I am never coming back here again. 0/5 worst service (: It’s not hard to be nice
Great coffee and treats. They also have a few sandwiches and smoothies. Nice selection for breakfast, lunch or teatime. They have ice-cream also. They atmosphere is great for coffee, visiting with a friend or work/study
I’ve been coming here quite often recently due to exam season. I love it here! It’s so cozy and it’s the perfect place to do assignments or study. The bakery and drinks here are also really good and decently priced. The man and the woman who work here are also so sweet and always smile at me. I’ve seen people complain about them on here, but I’ve been constantly working here and I’ve personally never had a problem. I recommend:)
I have been visiting this Cafe since past 2months for my work schedule and meetings. Customer service is excellent and owners are very sweet, friendly and welcoming. Cafe is always very clean and it's very spacious. This is perfect spot to have your work sessions along with great food/coffee/dessert options.
Love the ambiance and fair prices. I hate tipping culture so I loved how they didn't have the tipping option in the paying machine. I also recommend trying the Chocolate Avalanche Danish, it was really good!
I got there and was waiting for a friend. As I called my friend to ask where she was, the Indian woman behind the counter (assuming it is the same lady everyone else is complaining about in the other reviews) wouldn't even let me finish my conversation and interrupted my call to ask me "How far is your friend? Waiting for 5-10 mins is ok, not more than that". Like no patience or customer service skills.
On top of the poor customer service, the coffee gave my friend diarrhea.
Plenty of better coffee place to go to than this one.
Middle aged indian lady is terrible, rude as hell. She does not have basic manners, idk why they don’t fire her seems lile everyone has a problem with her
Do not come here, the middle aged lady is so rude and she's really annoying. It's like she's ordering you around and you need to buy multiple stuff in order to get a seat. The lady is really rude and the coffee options tiny despite being a coffee store. Place would be really amazing if the customer service is good. I wouldn't recommend going here tho because the lady is rude.
The middle aged lady is very rude. I got right in front of the counter and she did not bother to look at me for 30 seconds (she was just standing there doing nothing). I asked for a small coffee and after she asked what size, I changed my mind and I told her I’ll get a double double instead. She rudely told “I asked what size” in a high tone. Never coming here again!
I had a horrible experience today, also with the middle aged lady. I was at the counter with my friend, reading through the drinks menu so I could order. The lady didn't even give me a few minutes to read the menu to decide - she said "what are you going to do, just stand and talk? " I decided it's not worth it and left. Don't come here expecting a warm and welcoming environment.
Welcome to a coffee shop with free wifi for customers only. Wheel chair accessible and family fitting dining tables. Very friendly staff and assortment of sandwiches, desserts and drinks. All day breakfast for just $3.99 plus tax. Thank you guys for your services throughout the year.
It’s nice sitting place but the Indian women working there came and start arguing with my family because we had a bottle water for a kid. We bought coffee and dessert from there but she started to make a scene and asking us to leave the restaurant because of my child bottle water and accusing us of making the place risk for Covid. Very disrespectful women and doesn’t know anything about how to treat customer. I prefer Tim Hortons. Not coming back anymore.
ABSOLUTELY ZERO STARS. Aside from the fact that the coffee tastes terrible, their customer service is DISGUSTING.
I don't know if this is because we are visibly black or muslim but the cashier stopped one of our members from using the bathroom, despite us having paid for our orders already. And she stopped us from sitting down to enjoy them, under the guise of proof of vaccination (which we provided happily) or suspicion of us bringing food in.
This place needs to get shut down. I have never been met with such hostility, suspicion and hate. Truly terrible.
I came here with my friend who was new to the country because I've always liked the vibe at coffee culture and wanted to show her this place. My friend brought with her a cake which she purchased from somewhere else, but we came in to have a coffee and lunch at coffee culture. My friend did not know the rules that outdoor food was not allowed and we honestly did not notice the signage on the door. The person working there was kind and told us we are not able to eat outside food in their cafe, I was surprised since we bought coffee and was planning to buy lunch there as well-At least they had customers because the restaurant was empty. I then proceeded to explain to my friend and the woman working there came out and started to raise her voice, even accusing us of being irresponsible bringing in outside food and increasing their risk of covid? This was dramatic and not needed. I was trying to talk to my friend but the woman continued to speak with us and her even though I tried to explain to her that my friend did not speak english and that we understood the rules she continued to make a scene. I respect that outside food is not allowed and did not know my friend would open her cake in the store to eat.
The way they spoke to us was not needed and I won't be back at this location. Also they did not even check our vaccine passport and ID.
Recently came here and had one of the worst experiences I have ever had in my life. I was unable to make a purchase without having this unbelievable rude employee yelling to my face to decide on an order! It was my first time here and I needed some time to look at the menu, I had literally only looked for about a minute to which she said, pick now or leave, "I will not let you order in a bit! " To make matters much worse, there wasn't anyone else in line either, it was just me and my wife deciding on what we wanted to order, literally no rush at all. As long as this service continues, do not come to this place. I noticed other reviews have commented on this incompetent rude worker as well, how she has not been fired or warned is beyond me. I visited this place on November 6,2021 around 4-4: 30 pm.
This coffee shop has the worst customer service.the lady that works there is extremely rude and really forces you to buy something in order to stay, even if you are with a friend that is already buying a coffee.she really questioned my water bottle thinking i am bringing something else, when it was just water.i wouldn't return to this location for dirty tables and a rude lady.all these reviews for the store are practically the same, so save yourself some time and just go to tim hortons or starbucks where you wont get hassled for where you sit, what you bring in, and what you order!
Came to the Cafe to work with my friend, waited 5 minutes to even place an order. When we finally went to place the order the cashier advised she wanted to see what was in my water bottle, I advise water. She said I couldn't bring in water because of covid, I asked how my water has anything to do with covid. She said she wanted to see inside my water bottle so I said ok to which she responded she will dump my water bottle to confirm it was water. What? !? Cashier is grumpy (who knows why) but horrid experience. Me and my friend left as we were not going to deal with that energy.
The customer service is a disgrace, waited to be served while the staff just walked aimlessly behind the counter…. Should have walked out but I heard good things about the coffee which was it turned out was a huge disappointment! All in all I won’t ever be going back.
The owner seems to lack basic human decency. She yells at people for not ordering enough and not only lacks customer service skills, but simple etiquette.
I come to coffee culture at least 3 times a week! The owners are super sweet! - The lady at the front it was very direct and to the point, which some people find rude, but at the end of the day, she's running a business! Every store has their own policies, and theirs is to place an order before getting a seat, and each individual must purchase something! - The purpose of this is to prevent people from using their free wifi/ space for long periods of time without supporting them. I don't think the woman has a rude intent, so people should not counter argue her, as she does not bother anyone once you purchase an item. There is no time limit to sit in the store either, i feel that people should recognize this.
I love to come here to study, the owners are so nice! Their policy is to buy a beverage and then take a seat, and once you're sitting there is NO TIME LIMIT! - i often stay here until they close the woman at the front is really nice!:)
This is the grossest coffee shop I have been in. Coffee culture is supposed to be nice and classy this place is grungy and the service is the WORST! I walk in and the lady at the counter is NOT wearing her mask. She is also the rudest person I have ever encountered at a restaurant. There is literally no one in the store and she was making a huge deal about me waiting till my friend got there to order. She wouldn’t let me wait a few minutes for my friend so we can order together. I gave her my vaccination details and everything. Honestly I wanted to support local by coming here and not go to a Starbucks but it is just not worth it to be treated that way.
Coffee Culture is a place where you can relax with a coffee or a sandwich for lunch. The two people who work there work hard to meet the clients needs.
The lady at cash was not hospitable and had no customer service. Washrooms were also closed. No customers were allowed to use it. As a food and beverage establishment that’s open for dine-in, washrooms should be open. It would be different if there was no dine in. What if a customer needed to use the washroom badly, would they have to leave the place and find a washroom else where? The employees also were on their phones and in plain sight of customers. Do they even practice hand washing right after being on the phone? Come on keep it professional.
Rude managers/owners! I wanted to meet my cousin for coffee and some food there but really needed to use the bathroom first. When I asked the owners/managers (a man and a woman) if I could use the bathroom before ordering, they said I wasn’t allowed to use their facilities before buying something, and the lady even shouted at me that she will call security on me when I tried to walk to the bathroom explaining that it was really urgent (I was stuck on the 401 for an hour on my way there, please!). Needless to say, I didn’t stay. I used to be a barista in the past, and that is certainly not how I was taught to treat my guests!
If I can give this place -5 stars I could. The level of disrespect and disgusting customer service was appalling. I had been looking forward to go to a coffee shop and dine in. I found an empty table, placed my purse on the table as the worker was busy cashing out another customer and went to show the workers my proof of vaccination. The lady at the counter began to yell at me saying i should have never placed my items on the table and that I should not take a seat before placing an order. I kindly explained that I was going to go check out their menu before ordering and she continued yelling at me. I asked for the manager and the employees continued to ignore me. It seems like this kind of thing happens a lot at this restaurant. PLEASE DONT GO HERE, YOU WILL BE TREATED LIKE GARBAGE.
Really cute coffee spot and they have sandwiches and cake and ice cream! The interior was well thought of, haven’t tried all the food yet but what we had was decent—dessert and coffee and shakes. I’d love to come back to try more and hang out. They have COVID protocols in place.
I always enjoy the food and drinks I get from this Coffee Culture. The sandwiches are delicious and such a nice change from fast food places. Personally, I've always had great customer service here. The staff are very kind and put great effort into the food/drinks they serve.
I am currently 39 weeks pregnant and had a pressing need to use the washroom. Although I understand the need to limit the use of washroom for customers, I thought they would accommodate me given how heavily pregnant I am. I was surprised when the employee said categorically no. A fellow customer even offer to buy something on my behalf but I decided to go to a nearby restaurant instead. Very disappointed in their lack of consideration.
I wish I could give no stars and report this place for disrespectful behaviour and lack of sanitation. The lady who works there has literally no respect. I came to have a meeting with a client and as soon as my client came in and sat down, she ran over and told him he could sit without ordering anything and he had to sign his name at the front. As he got up to do that, she kept going on an on about how he should know better, basically scolding him. I was literally petrified and tried to explain that we will order and we need a few minutes, but she threatened to call the police. I have no idea if this was due to racial discrimination or if she was having a bad day, but it was unacceptable. She was not wearing a mask and tried to get in our face. We left right after but I will never go to that place ever again.
The worst customer service i have ever experienced in my life. Will NEVER recommend this place to anyone and will not be returning. The lady who was serving took issue with my friends who wanted to get settled at the table i was sitting on before ordering. She approached us with a rude demeanor and even when my friend got up to order was continuously talking back and being rude and threatening to call the cops. Eventually the older male worker comes out disobeying any social distancing laws by sitting right beside us taking off his mask to yell at the customer? A whole mess.
Great place to get work done and have coffee meetings. They have amazing food but a little too pricy. Best part tho, is the location is always very clean.
I visited yesterday with my friend as we both had shopped and come for good coffee but the lady who seems to be owner or manager rushed towards us and yelling at us by saying outside food is not allowed please throw it and we were like its our shopping bag and instead of apologizing she said you guys need to order before having a seat in this cafe.like seriously "aunty" wake up this is not the only coffee place in town you guys really need to come up with good service and top of it she was keep on staring at us and telling us to fill the form with details rather than grabbing coffee.really disgusted with the place and the environment this lady created for us! Hardly stayed for 15 minutes.i should not give a star also but without that i cant review you guys! Hope the owner read this msg and apologize to me.
The worst customer service in Toronto, the woman was very rude, I bought a cup of tea and I was supposed to eat my breakfast there that I brought from home (I have an special diet) so she told me that I can't eat there even if I bought the tea there I have to eat out, so I asked her If she had what I need to eat and obviously she didn't has it. She stayed behind the counter watching me like a criminal to check if I would eat or not.bad bad bad!
A date or meeting someone for professional discussion. A coffe is must to have then why shouldn't it be the best? Hence this is the place. Not only u can get a grt coffe but u can aslo have their cold beverages and some mouthwatering sides.
I experienced the most awkward situation as a bystander where the owner (the woman) publicly humiliated and yelled at a customer (April 11th) and threatened to call the police on him after asking to reserve a table for his girlfriend (they were black). It was not a pleasant atmosphere and the couple ended up leaving. Either way, the foods not that great and the drinks are less than average tasting. Overall terrible place but if you’re looking for a place to study, better buy something or they’ll kick you out.
I’ve come here often and every time the Punjabi/Indian lady has been extremely rude with absolutely zero customer service skills. This time she waved the receipt asking if I wanted all the while examining the people walking through the door. No one wants to grab a latte or coffee and leave the store with a negative feeling. I will definitely not recommend CC or go back ever again.
Very bad customer service! Soon as I sat down I was approached by a lady that said "if I don't order I can't have the seat". I just got there! She didn't she didn't even give me a chance to order. I left right away and will never go back. I'm surprised this place still gets filled with such bad customer service.
My friends and I meet here after swimming any where from 4 to 10 people.owners have been nothing but accommodating.they have wonderful desserts and sandwiches.
I never post reviews.ever. But the people who work here are extremely rude and undisciplined, I've witnessed many customers being yelled at or treated rudely, and have had the same happen to me. The workers are nosey and pushy, I would avoid if it wasnt a must.
Every single time I have visited this location, one of the women who works here threatens to call the police on a black customer. I'm not exaggerating at all; it has been about 3 times now and I'm not planning on coming back if this lady still works here. Just now, two black customers were occupying 2 tables and she threatened to call the police on them for pushing the tables together (even though the restaurant is not full). I have seen a single (white) customer take up a 4-person booth and she has not threatened them with this same action. Coffee Culture should address this issue with her immediately if they want to provide an inclusive space where people aren't accused of breaking the law for sitting at a table with the food they purchased.
Best place to hangout with friends. Hot chocolate is the best drink here. This cafe has good pastries as well. If you are chocolate lover you should definitely try triple chocolate pastry. Cheese cake is also yummy.
Ask us to order food. Tells us that we will have to leave the restaurant if we don't order. So my wife decides to place an order. The server says, no, it has to be two orders for two people.
Ridiculous.
Edit: I have emailed you but haven't received your response yet.
I have been a customer here since 2012 and I like the ambience and the service. Couldn't help noticing some of the complaints here. It always surprises me how some people expect to sit at a cafe without ordering anything for 20-30 minutes and keep demanding the wi-fi password. In 7 years, no one here has ever been rude or abrasive to me. Rather, I have seen on 2 occasions customers being rude, especially groups of young people, probably students. Six or seven kids crowding into a space meant for four, not ordering anything and causing a disturbance for all the other customers.
Literally the stingiest establishment I have ever been to. Wish I could give y’all a 0 star. They require you to purchas an item if you want the wifi password (which I understand). However, I have been a regular customer and today I bought my usual coffee while waiting for a friend. My friend eventually arrived and sat without buying anything. 10 minutes later, one of the workers goes up to my friend and says “I have been watching you for some time and you haven’t bought anything. You need to buy something or leave”? This is wildly disrespectful and disgusting. You clearly do not value your customers or your image as a business. This makes your business look pathetic and unprofessional.
I have been to a few Coffee Culture locations in the past, this location is by far the worst. I asked to purchase a latte and I also wanted it to be double cupped. The response which was given by the punjabi lady was, "no we don't do that". I explained, "I am taking the drink for someone else and I would like it to stay warm". Her response, "No, you can have a sleeve". My response, "I do not want a sleeve as it doesnt do anything, I will pay for an extra cup. " She refuses stating its her policy. I choose to leave and purchase the same beverage at the ajax location (which is amazing). To summarize I drove 20 min out of my way to get a drink for my wife. My point is why is such a rude owner operating this location and destroying the reputation of coffee culture. I am not entering this location again.
Very beautiful and cozy cafe with a wide selection of drink choices and snacks, including fair trade! Nice and clean furniture. Great quiet place for doing work on a laptop, reading, or a romantic date. Prices are slightly higher than your average Tim Hortons but still well within reasonable! Love this place.
I came in today evening with my husband for a romantic date night to have a Latte and then order later a cake and when I went to place an order the cashier said you need to order two drinks as we can not give one coffee. The customer service is very very bad. He was very arrogant and had a very bad attitude. I manage restaurants in Toronto and my employees have not ever show this type of attitude or bad customer service. Your food and store is of no value if your employees give this bad attitude to your customers. This type of behaviour affects your restaurant. No one will be coming to your store. I will never be coming to your restaurant and will not let any of my group come in there thats for sure.
The woman there was very pushy regarding me buying something, I placed an order and waited for a minute or two to pay but since no one was setting up the POS I decided to set up my laptop as I had a tutor session in 10 min, and she came over with an attitude asking me to pay saying it's been forever. My order was wrong, I had the smallest tuna sandwich I've ever had made at a coffee culture, and the Punjabi womans customer service was terrible when I was telling her my order was wrong she argued with me and laughed in my face. Never coming here again
A small place but good for a meet. The only thing to consider is, you will always find it crowded as there is only nice cafe nearby having a good sitting arrangement.
Very expensive compared to Tim Hortons but very good service and excellent food. Great seating and WiFi has good speed to watch Netflix. Plenty of free parking. Free to ask me any questions.
You’re the chef does look a little bit of this a look at the where are the other van hey hey hey hey hey hey the bag is all red so I will look that big on submit a big bag of some big garden where the keys are amazing Res Good Luck the Lego paying her bills in your room not in a room with God looks out the Lego building in a bottle bottle take a look at
Excellent customer service.very nice cafe, coming hear for years. Best service with smile.if your going to any type of restaurant or cafe your not going to fool around means your going there to give a business.today i was setting in the booth same time a store worker approached a guy and his girl friend with very respected manner as if they are using a Wi-Fi they need to come and grab something as its clearly say Wi-Fi only for customer which is very good thing.but her girlfriend don't want buy anything but want to use all there service which is very bad.now they are putting a bad comment telling a totally LIE about the worker which is not nice MR NIMALAN AND ARANI SHAME ON YOU GUYS TELLING LIE.if i am not sitting beside on you i never know i might think the same.its a simple thing.and your calling your self customer which your not as you never buy anything so what customer service your looking for.sometime i buy small cup of coffee and sit in there cafe for 5 -6 hr they never come to me asking to buy more.its a really shame on people who come in the cafe and don't wont to buy anything and want to use there service for free and than they remind to buy something and people putting Bad comment its a really shame.in the end service is very nice.
I stopped coming here because of how negative it is. I'm self employed and I like to bring my work to a coffee shop. During the mornings and afternoons there is a middle aged Punjabi lady who is always policing the shop. One time I ordered breakfast and my colleague came in and set his bag down. I went and asked the lady for the WiFi, she said 'your friend has to buy something'. He just walked in and placed his bags down. On another occasion I continuously ordered items because I was there for a half a day. After my third meal, she came by and said 'did you order anything yet? '. I had to stubbornly say 'I ordered three things'. There were other moments where she would make a scene in front of customers for people she would assume are not 'buying anything' even making threats to 'call the police' when they clearly meant no negative intent. The negative energy is too much, and I stopped going. I think the franchise should really monitor this store and coach the staff because it's harming their brand. You dont even find this behaviour at a lower grade Coffee Time. I just wanted to express my points.
