The service workers ruined everything! To begin with, I’m a server myself and have been working some fine dine & casual places, so I can totally understand the pressure and stress of working in food industry, however, never in my life could I ever imagine of treating someone so poorly for such minor reason. We mistakenly exited through a different door than the one we entered through and the server made it such a huge issue for some reason and kept shouting at us for no apparent reason since there was no signage or anything on the other door that would make us aware that we weren’t supposed to use it. The door just had a really simple lock from the inside so we just opened it up and were about to go outside. Just as we were about to exit, this girl started yelling at us for trying to exit through that door and we just kept apologizing. She paid no attention to our apologies and even after we exited the restaurant, she just kept blabbering under her breath.
This one thing pretty much ruined the whole experience for us and we felt quite low after the whole thing.
The food was really tasty. We tried the ved spring roll which was very crispy. The mutton curry and roti were delicious. A major turn off was the ambience and I hope the leaking ceiling is fixed coz this would be a great place to eat.
I ordered Vada Pav, I never had such a terrible experience with Vada Pav. Batter inside wasn’t having any essential flavours, either chutney had any taste.
Staff offered me refund or to try another item, and I refused as I wasnt gonna taste any other items at this restaurant.
I was in doubt as it was my first time here. But totally loved the taste of Paneer Kathi rolls. Rolls were crispy and served along with fries. The service was nice, sadly the music system was down. Both the staff members Veerpal and Arshdeep were carrying smiles. Loved their chai as well:)
Jack and I were one of their first customers, thankful that they stayed afloat during covid! They always take the time to greet us. Food is amazing.we love their butter chicken and curry lamb.
Their portion size for $25 Buy One Get One free deals om Uber eats are LESS THAN HALF (ALMOST ONE THIRD) OF THE STANDARD SIZE. They also gave chicken tikka pieces in the chicken hakka noodles I ordered. I ignored the chicken tikka, but there is a serious ethical issue here, so I recommend people stay away from such a restaurant.
Recently i visited bay street colaba, I tried street food and the food is tasty and the chats they serve are excellent taste and large portions, everyone must try
Average flavoured food of poor ingredients; extremely poor ventilation, eye tearing old frying oil caused unpleasant odors. Required purchase of Febreze extra strength and Fleecy as we were headed to a public event.
The food was quite below par. Not tasty at all. Struggled to eat as we don't like wasting food. Would not recommend anyone who is looking for a freshly cooked meal. Everything looked like it was microwaved and heated the second or third time around. The spinach and bhel, both were stale. The gulab jamun was cold in the centre. The best thing on the table was the water, which the customers are supposed to self serve at the counter. Do not expect any service as you have to pick up your own food. Songs nothing that remind you about Colaba, Mumbai.
Ordered Pav Bhaji, ate sambar potatoes. The chef put sambar masala in the bhaji rather than pav bhaji masala. Pav Bhaji is served with lemon and onion. But there was nothing served. No coriander nothing. Do not think of it as a Pav Bhaji.
This was our first visit to this restaurant. We ordered two plates of mixed food from this restaurant known as Thali. It tasted like packaged food in a box that you get in the stores. To add to this, the quantity was a table spoon of Indian curry, rice, two vegetarian dishes /non veg etc. It was almost $40 for two plates, which was very expensive considering the quality was so tiny for the price we paid. The food was horrible with no taste. To make it worse I had a stomach upset. Will never go that restaurant again.
I went to collaba junction and I got the best desi food I try samsoa chat there and it was awesome which made by vishal. Thanks for the service brother
I ordered Goat Biryani and it was the worst biryani I’ve ever had. They have a picture of a matka Biryani in their menu but they served it on a plate and It was really bland. I couldn’t even finish my plate. It was just a waste of money for me. My friends did enjoy their Meat Thalis though!
Colaba junction gives you Bombay vibes! The interiors feel like you're back in India! They have some classic pops that you get back in India. Do try their beef vindaloo, it's cooked to perfection with tender beef pieces! Another dish we ordered was the chicken tikka, it's not too spicy and perfect with naan. Each Portion of gravy comes with steamed rice!
I liked the customer service but the A/C is not working. I wanted to dine in but unfortunately couldn’t. The A/C should be repaired otherwise everything is good, the food and the service. Thanks
The Ambience looked fun with quirky lines on the walls, but was dissapointed with the food. We ordered Pav Bhaji, Aloo tikki chat, Chicken kati roll and mango lassi The only dish which I enjoyed was the Kati roll and mango lassi. Guess making mango lassi is not rocket science since the fruit does the major work. One time visit for sure, we left the Aloo tikki chat and didn't finish it. Many others too didn't finish their food either. Guess the restaurant has a lot of work to do on it's flavours.
Staff was friendly, food doesn't match the name of Colaba. It's a variation on the original mumbai style food. Not original at all. Furthermore their food was fried in over used frying oil. Fusion everything loses the original Nostalgia.
Absolutely unfair Colaba Junction! We picked up pac bhaji parcel order today from here and look at what we have got! Absolutely unprofessional! The Pavs are burnt from within.
Colaba Junction, went there yesterday first time but employees seems very unhappy after seeing customers and didn't provide any good customer service. Staff was kinda racist towards brown people. Please improve customer service standards. I ordered Pao bhaji in which Bhaji was fine but bread was dried out in half hour and didn't taste good. I hope next time I find this place upto the mark.
It was getting late and everywhere I went, bathrooms were closed. This was becoming an emergency. My wife and I found this little place, and their bathrooms were fully operational! (and ultra clean, a true surprise in Toronto!) so before we left, we decided to grab some butter chicken roti, some gulab jamun, and a couple Mango Lassies, and oh my LORD. It was INCREDIBLE. All of it.
I've never heard of this place before that night, but it is now a true favorite that I will be going out of my way to visit again.
Ones star because I didn't expect it to be frozen food when I ordered, 6 price frozen spring rolls for $8, not reasonable. Mutton fry is just a mutton curry on tip of Malaysian style frozen bread. Come on guys Hire A Cook n serve some fresh cooked meals, I could do probably better with frozen food. I am Sad to say but it's True,
The vada pav from this place did not taste good. It was double fried, the outer covering was quite oily and thick. The chatni used wasn't the one should be used for vada pav. We also ordered schezwan pepper chicken which was horrible. There was no schezwan, no pepper taste and it was extremely oily.
Loved the customer service, food and accessibility to this amazing restaurant in heart of downtown Toronto (college park). I’m surprised to see people complaining about their customer service. I always had a tremendous experience. Thanks to everyone here!
Ordered vada pav and pav Bhaji 1-Vadapav must have been fried 6 times in entire day we’re definitely not fresh at all and crispy like papadams and no vadapav red dry garlic chutney inside, the pav also toasted like crispy (I thought Vada pav are suppose to be soft and the pav is softer too) 2 - pav Bhaji same crispy toasted buns and Bhaji only with potatoes and peas but not a disaster like vadapav On a scale of 1-10 where 10 is best Value for money - 2 Ambiance- very nice but when you go in can’t breath no exhaust and the Masala smell will soak in your clothes - 3 Taste of food - 0 Presentation of food - 1
Please try not to visit my recommendation it’s better to have frozen vadapav and ready to eat pavbhaji from grocery store
My go to place to enjoy authentic delicious Vada pavs. Have tried kathi rolls, fries, colaba chat, bombay tawa pulav but they definitely have the best vada pavs in downtown.
Tried their paneer kathi roll 5 minutes ago and I want a refund now. The roll was dripping in oil, it’s almost like I poured oil in my mouth. The wrap was undercooked, tasted like raw dough. The paneer was flavourful but way too much in terms of quantity. The wrap couldn’t hold it together. The fires were soggy. I want to give them another chance and hope this was bad luck but at the same time I don’t want to waste more money. I’m still hungry because this food went straight to the trash.
I tried their Colaba chaat (papdi chaat), street vada pav, and chicken biryani and everything was delicious. I was impressed by the packaging of the chaat and vada pav because I had ordered it from a delivery app and was impressed that it did not become soggy, instead was fresh and crispy. They have great food, I would highly recommend!
Worst place to have food here. We ordered chaat and it had hair in it. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. THEY'LL BLAME YOU FOR COMPLAINING ABOUT IT. WILL CALL YOU A LIAR. MISER PEOPLE. Never eating anything here again. They are a shame.
My friends and I tried their Samosa chaat, Aloo chaat and Vada pav and they were all delicious. We were surprised to see how close they have come in terms of taste compare to back home. Would definitely recommend this place if someone wants to try indian street food.
Food looks good but worst food tasted ever ordered goat Masala, Malabar paratha, Naan and chicken biryani. Malabar paratha was ok, but tasted the awful biryani in my life there was no balance on rice and Masala feels like rice was mixed with gravy separately, not even able to eat few bites also, goat masala, Feeling frustrated each time I took a bite, finished my meal by throwing everything in garbage.no other words to describe the food.
Stale oil was used to fry the samosas and the aloo tikki in the aloo chaat. Looking at other reviews, it looks like this is a consistent problem. If you visit this place then it will be a lucky draw. If the oil was changed that day, then you might be able to taste okay food. But I don't think they do it everyday. We felt sick after eating here. Would not recommend anyone to go to this restaurant.
It was my first time trying this place and all I have to say is that the food is absolutely terrible. Tried the misal pav and BHEL puri and they were both like really really bad. I'm 100% sure that the misal was stale. It tastes stale and I am afraid I'll fall sick.
Don't even get me started about the BHEL puri. If you are calling yourself Colaba junction, atleast get one of the items right. Absolutely dismal food. Sorry!
I visited this store today. I ordered Lamb Curry and Butter Chicken It was so tasty and spicy I should recommend everybody once taste their Lamb Curry and Butter Chicken You won’t go anywhere else once you tasted these dishes here!
The food made me stomach churn, it was awfully bad. The food was either stale or bad, I was puking like crazy. The food was stale or old it was really bad.
Nice restaurant with friendly staff and good selection off meat and veggie curries, tried their meat Thali and pani Puri shots. Reasonable prices for downtown Toronto. Clean & prompt.
ABSOLUTE five star experience. I am a very strong critic of indian food and the butter chicken here just MELTS in your mouth! Made to perfection and a great in-dining experience. Ambiance is superb.
Super fresh! When ever I’m craving for some quick Indian food, Colaba Junction never ceases to impress. Food is super hot, flavourful and delicious. Highly recommend the butter chicken!
Nice small and cozy place, decor is pretty good. The food was alright, the portions were pretty decent but the prices were pretty expensive. Those that eat halal, while I was there and a friend asked if it was halal the worker answered yes, but the way he said it leads me to belive that it might not be halal.
We were recently in your restaurant and had a wonderful experience. The meal was excellent and the service was top notch. Your staff was very attentive.we will be back for sure and will highly recommend the restaurant.
We had lunch at Colaba Junction, Veg Thali and it was very authentic Indian cuisine. We loved it. We pray the taste remains the same always, as we will keep coming there more often. Thank you Pranam
We ordered cauliflower chaat, pao bhaaji and chicken wrap. Ambience is nice and that is the only thing we liked about this place. Customer service is really bad. We got funny smell in pao bhaji and upon confronting one of the employee we were told it is due to tomato and I completely disagree as it was smelling something very similar when you use ready to eat products which are full of preservatives and going to a restaurant you would except something freshly made. Not an expert but this is what me and my friends felt. Anyways, upon insisting several times we got an option to choose another thing from the menu. That’s not it we went home and all 3 of us got food poising! We eat outside on regular basis and have hardly faced anything like this, Now I wonder there is some serious quality issue with their food. I won’t recommend this place to anyone!
Mediocre Indian food, I would have gave 3 to 4 stars but they cheaped out on the butter chicken by replacing the chicken with potatoes. Never in 25 years I seen that.
It pains me to give two stars as the food was incredibly good. Probably the best chaat I’ve had in Toronto. However, the napkin and fork on my table were used and not replaced which violates a ton of health codes I’m sure. Also, half the things on the menu were unavailable.
Nice place to get a typical western metro city Mumbai dishes. We tried pav bhaji with aloo tikki and papdi chaat. I recommend going for these dish. Would like to try out some other items from the menu. May be next time
If you want authentic Indian food. I wouldn't recommend going here. I've been here a couple times now, but today was extra disappointing. Previously, I've gotten their Kathi rolls and vada pav. The taste was fine but nothing to boast about especially for the price as it's not worth it. Today I got the vada pav and was looking to take advantage of their Happy Hour deal which states 20% off Food on the sign outside the restaurant from 3-6 PM Mon-Fri. Upon asking about the offer, the male staff that took my order told me that the vada pav is not included as the Happy Hour is not for appetizers (not reflected on signs and promotions). Later adds that it's only for dine in customers (which is stated at the bottom of the sign so that's fine). My $7.85 (tax included) for vada pav got me two mediocre vada pavs and with the chutneys mixed together. Customer service is very poor. Staff during each visit never greet you or even smile for that matter. You're left waiting around at the front, not knowing if you should sit or order first. I've given this place three tries (2 more than it deserved), definitely not going back as I've never had a positive experience.
This restaurant is located in the Toronto downtown area and is easily accessible through public transport.if you are a Indian food lover then this is definitely the place to go, tried their panner lasagna and Pav Bhaji, Definitely worth try.
This one is a hidden nugget just on Bay and college, food is simply amazing. One of the must try is Salem mutton fry. The food reminds you of the street food of India.
I placed an order with the man at the counter. I notice the staff assigned numbers to customers so they know which customer ordered what. After paying the man, he did not give me a number. I asked for a number and he said, "you don't need it". I trusted him on his word and sat in a table near the ordering desk. A group behind me ordered and were given a table number. At this point I wait about 10 minutes before the man asks me from across the floor, "are you waiting for something? ".
I am annoyed because I was ignored and it baffles me that it is the same man who I spoke to.
Food tastes great, presentation and interiors are also nice, reasonable prices. But one BIG downside is that because of the open kitchen, the cooking smell is so strong that I could not breathe properly and worst of all, my jacket/clothing caught the smell and I was stinking like crazy when I moved out of the restaurant. They really need to do something about the ventilation/exhaust system. Even though I loved the food, I won’t be able to go again because of the smell.: (
